Guest Reviews
- Penjor (10/5): Awesome and convenient - The manger at the hotel is legend, upgraded my room without any charges just an act of kindness
- Nadine (1/5): Room reeks of pee - Bathrooms are freshly renovated The room absolutely reeked of pee. We tried opening windows and even dousing the carpet with perfume but could not get rid of the smell. It was so unbearably strong that we ended up leaving and booking another room at the Ibis a few minutes away.
When we went to give the keys back, the gentleman seemed to disbelieve us, saying ‘we just had the carpets cleaned three weeks ago’. When I asked for a refund, he said he would take it to the owner the next day. It’s been four days, and we have had no contact nor refund for the room we could not stay in.
The room also has no heating, just a portable air con that sticks out the window. Having an open window during winter and no heating during this cooler weather was not ideal. We were freezing even in the afternoon when we had the windows open to try and air out the room. The night would have been unbearably cold.
- Rebecca (8/5): Great Location. - Great location. Convenient for dinner. Good-sized room with private bathroom. No hand towels or floor mat provided in bathroom.

- christine (8/5): Fun filled adventure - Friendly. So close to everything. Easy to find. Love karaoke night too
- Mauri (9/5): -
- Bronwyn (5/5): Room stunk of bleach!!! - Great location No air conditioning just a portable unit which worked okay. The room smelt so bad of bleach! You may think thats a good thing but was so over powering was awful. Also no hand towel and no bath mat.
- Lindy (8/5): Value for money - Location, comfy beds Noisy above bar but they supply earplugs. Shower very weak.
- Bütow (8/5): - Preis-Leistung Kein Fahrstuhl
- Maree (10/5): Value for money, excellent location, very friendly staff - Very welcoming staff from the get go. Thanks Matt for everything. 10 - 15 minutes walk to Darling Harbour, shops and pubs minutes away. Dominos pizza across the road. Not a deal breaker but for older people the stairs to accomodation could be slightly challenging, but management carried our suitcases to our room
- Peter (7/5): Good enjoyable - Location and staff Shared bathrooms Indian guy walking around in his undies and a towel one Time had my daughter with me.
- Michelle (7/5): It was otherwise comfortable and the staff were great. - I liked where the property was situated. It was a bit noisy with outside noise on a busy street.
- Dom (3/5): -
- Mcencroe (10/5): - The staff were amazing so very helpful. The dinner was fabulous and the variety was fantastic 😀 😋 👌 Not a long enough stay
- Courtney (10/5): -
- Antonini (9/5): -
- Ashley (10/5): -
- Corey (3/5): Could not get a good night sleep here, it was the worst part of my holiday. - Was a reasonable walk to light rail/ CBD -Shared bathrooms with broken toilet and bad drainage.
-Extremely loud road noise, even at the top floor.
-No proper AC, just a very loud portable AC.
-Fridge did not work (a review from last year mentions this)
-Wifi was very slow.
-Had to manually request cleaning and towels from bar (they didn’t even bring us our towels afterward).
-Had to reseat the batteries in the TV remote each time we wanted to use it.
-Music being played downstairs while you try to sleep.
- Wendy (8/5): Family room?! - Beds were comfortable, air-conditioner worked really well. Great lication There wasn't enough cutlery (no knives at all!!!). We needed bowls for our cereal - none provided. No dishwashing liquid or teatowels and NO PLUG! Also, we booked for 3 adults and there were only 2 chairs and a tiny table. If this room is advertised as a family room there needs to be more attention to the kitchen provisions and the furniture.
- Jeffrey (5/5): Terrible, unpleasant. I expect greater value for money. - No breakfast available at this venue. Far too noisy with constant traffic all night. This wasn't advised when we booked, plus the fact that we needed ear plugs (supplied) in order to get a nights rest.
Television didn't work, advising 'poor signal strength or none at all' for local, free to air tv.
Cockroaches in kitchenette area.
Tea bags (x 3 only) were crumpled up and had water stains on them, thus unusable. No teaspoons either.
Extremely noisy, free standing air conditioning unit that we had to turn off in order to sleep. I suppose though, in hindsight, I can't think which would be noisier, the air con or the traffic, either way, we were destined not to get a nights sleep.
- Les (7/5): Good value for money. Have to put up with traffic noise once the day starts, Ok late at night. - Super location. Nice staying in a pub - access to the bar is rather swift. TV wasn't working. Was playing up on arrival. Re-scanned channels to get it working but then it just completely stopped working halfway through watching a movie. I think the aerial connection was dodgy.
- Jones (7/5): - Great location and price No staff at check out to help with stowing luggage and no elevator so you have to lift your suitcase up and down the stairs.
- Marcelo (10/5): -
- Grace (10/5): - great value for money in a good location the only way to bring your luggage up is stairs so it's not disability friendly but it is an old building
- Annabel (7/5): good value for money but doesn’t look like the photos - it was very cozy and good value for money hard to locate the hotel part. staff wasn’t as welcoming (saw that we were lost and didn’t bother offering help , waited till we approached them). Room looked cleaner in the photos - in reality the paint was chipping, not as luxurious. bathroom was not the same as in the photos. it was also a very hot day and there was only one small aircon that didn’t do a good job of cooling the room even with the ceiling fan.
- Danny & Merridee (6/5): -
- David (4/5): -
- Marc Louis (8/5): - Everything was clean and as excpeted No private washroom
But hey it was mention I knew
- Tony (6/5): - Location and price Portable air conditioner was very noisy
- Joanne (7/5): Very helpful staff, great location, facilities are very basic. - Staff were excellent, helped me with an early check in. Location was great. Facilities are very basic, I had one cup, a fork and a spoon, no soap or dishwashing soap in the room. Fan also wasn't working which was an easy fix when I told them. No lift access so be prepared to drag your suitcases up flights of stairs!
- Carolyn (9/5): - Great location and value for money The fridge needed covering to darken the room, otherwise lovely!
- Ashlynn (10/5): Great for a stop over or a few days out in the town 💞 - I loved this hotel! It’s so cute and I love how it’s been done up! The roof area was so nice too! Was beautiful to watch the sunset!
Staff were so so nice! Food was AMAZING.
I love that there was pub below to hang out in too!
Literally in the perfect place in the city, I will 100% be back!!
- Jo (5/5): Convenient but extremely noisy. - Location. Comfortable bed. Location! Overlooking major crossroads, very very noisy traffic all night; particularly as the window can’t be closed due to the ac unit in it. Smelled strongly of toxic cleaning fluids. Needs a blind in the kitchen areas as it doesn’t have a door.
- Richard (8/5): -
- XUEMEI (9/5): -
- Anthoney (10/5): - Did knot no you had breakfast No bath mat for shower
- Peter (10/5): Good old style pub . Will stay and recommend -
- Blair (7/5): Adequate - Easy check in/out Some of the bathrooms didn’t have mirrors, no floor mats for the bathroom and cold/hot taps were not labelled. Door lock was lose on room 11 which didn’t make me feel -00% safe.
- Rachael (7/5): Comfortable. Transient stay only. - Great location, comfy bed. There were hairs in the shower when I first got in, that clearly weren't. Could be good if providing a kitchenette, to provide more than just spoons? Opened the cupboards and it was pretty much empty. Tea and coffee facilities only.
- Jason (8/5): - Nice spot and pretty good value overall. Would definitely stay again if I were in Sydney for a long layover or if driving out after flying in. The only real negative was that it turns out my room was rather loud, as it must have been right over the top of the bar. Ear plugs provided worked well, fortunately.
- Stefan (8/5): Short one nighter as we were attending a convention, but would happily do another short stay here - Location near Darling harbour was great, lovely old building, great atmosphere, comfortable room well kep with nice fresh amenities and large enough to accommodate 4 easily Only street noise was a minor issue, but we knew this before booking so were prepared, and this isn't the fault of the venue, it is just Sydney!
- Aaron (9/5): -
- Dean (5/5): 5/10 - Great locations, great staff, really easy to get things done. Highly recommend if you are in need of an urgent stay. The issues are very much situational. It's shared facilities per floor and it could just be my luck but almost everytime I went in to use the shower or bathroom is a wet mess. I hurt myself badly once because the floor was wet as there is nothing to stop the water. Also it was muggy and hot and the cooling facilities didn't really do anything or help.
- cruz (8/5): -
- Maria (1/5): Catfish - Good location The website versus reality were like being catfished.
The website said the rooms were renovated . The room that I was supposedly upgraded to looked nothing like the photos it was broken. It was dirty. It was unsafe for a solo traveller.
- Kim (7/5): Happy, would stay again - Good value comfortable clean and cheerful Nothing
- Sophia (7/5): -
- Matthew (5/5): - Stains on the carpet
- Sam (2/5): - Door on the room didn’t lock properly, shared toilet didn’t flush properly, room needed a good hoover, etc…
- Lisa (6/5): -
- Natasha (8/5): -
- Liz (8/5): My husband has Parkinson’s had to walk three flights of stairs Not easy - Nice location close to Opera House No Parking close to hotel No lift
- Billie-Jo (10/5): Great location, accomodation and amenities - Clean and accessible, although if you were older the stairs to the accommodation may need to be highlighted as if you are on the top level their are quite a few stairs.
The room had a portable air con and fan which was great as we visited on a 40 degree day and the room was comfortable.
Bathroom was quite clean and the shower was good.
Bedding was comfortable and the room was decorated nicely.
Great that there was a tv, mini fridge and tea/coffee making facilities.
Location was GREAT, we walked straight down to darling harbour from here in under 10 minutes
I was really impressed by this accommodation, would stay again.
- Rose (7/5): -
- Cailem (10/5): -
- Nicole (8/5): great value stay - location was fab for brekkie. Many cafes around
- Jessica (4/5): ok - The lady who I dealt with when issues was lovely and assisted as very well with fixing these. I did not like the fact of being told I would receive a refund for my stay due to an issue that occurred during our stay.
- Vicky (6/5): -
- Tracey (7/5): - Comfortable and clean
- Rod (9/5): -
- Caitlin (7/5): -
- Tim (7/5): - We stayed in room 11. There's a broken Power Point which has come away from the wall. Needs to be fixed urgently. Don't know how long it's been like that but was broken when we arrived.

- Lachlan (10/5): -
- cheryl (9/5): -
- Cooper (8/5): -
- Mick (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Kat (8/5): - Is in a great location
- Magno (10/5): - Very clean room
- Buckley (6/5): - Location was excellent. Room size was great for a family of 4. On-site bistro had great value and tasty meals. Staff were helpful and friendly. Beds were very comfortable. Cleanliness of the room was poor, and renovations are desperately needed. Property did not match what was advertised. Thrte was peeling and chipped paint everywhere. The bathroom had hair on the floor from someone else, and there was mould on the walls. There is no working exhaust fan in the bathroom. Crockery in the kitchette was dirty. Windows did not lock. There was a mini bar style fridge, but it wasn't plugged in, so it did not work. There was no air conditioning, and the ceiling fan did not work. The after-hours security door from the street to accommodation did not close properly, which was a security concern. Noise from the road was loud through single pane glass but not unbearable for a one night stay.

- Bibi (4/5): - Very basic
- Katherine (10/5): - Extremely helpful staff. Friendly. Rooms very clean
- wayne (8/5): Was too my needs - Friendly staff Traffic noise
- Grace (8/5): - INCREDIBLE food at the bar underneath. Room was quiet and cozy. The rooms arent new or morden but pretty spacious and comfy.
:)))
- Deepa (2/5): Unfortunately it wasn’t great.street noise was too loud like the windows were open. Mouldin the ceiling - Staff were helpful No hot water, bathroom was dirty, noise from the street made it impossible to sleep. Not enough accessories. There was mould everywhere
- Al talli (2/5): -
- Stanislav (5/5): Ok for the price, but won't stay again - Nice location, good bar and friendly staff. Smelly hallways, tiny room, and everything feels old and badly in need of renovation. There was a dirty dish sponge but no dishwashing liquid, which makes me think the dishes haven’t been properly cleaned in ages.
- Daniel (8/5): - No Aircon or Fan
No hooks in bathrooms
Small cake of soap not convenient would prefer small bottles soap and shampoo and conditioner.
Overall good value for money
- Ian (10/5): - Clean room, clean bathroom, good value meals, easy to get around from this location.
- Simon (10/5): - Clean, friendly staff, modern. Great location and value
- Gregory (8/5): - Nice and convenient to Prymont, Darling Harbour and The Star Casino. Nice price, would stay again.
- Rebecca (6/5): It was a good stay for the price - Location was excellent and the recent renovation. Bed was comfortable Dinning table was wobbly. Bathroom sinked leaked when used. Smelled of bleach
- Jeanette (6/5): - Loved the big, old hotel. Just felt it needed a bit of upkeep in the room. Some sound proofing from the road noise would really help.
- Sue (8/5): Convenient and perfect for us! Thanks! - We arrived super early and they let us into our room! So close to Darling Harbour, Lyric Theatre and everything we needed! Saw MJ the Musical! Best ever!
- Richie (7/5): I didn't really like this location a great deal - Easy check in & nice to have a drink downstairs. Didn't really like the location very much.
