I had requested to change the dates as i booked for myself and 2 kids however another adult wanted to attend and we needed 3 beds not 1 bed and 2 bunks, they would not accommodate this. I also asked if they had any other rooms and was happy to pay for the extra but they were fully booked. Unfortunately we did have a death in the family and couldnt attend so I ended up giving the room to a friend and her partner for the weekend.
- Angela (7/5): Overnighter at Holdens Bay - We arrived late and left early so didn't meet the staff but what we saw was great. Excellent location for what we needed It would have been nice if there were a few basics in the kitchen, like pots and pans. They were available to hire but as we arrived late and left early we weren't there while reception was open. Not a biggie as we managed but just would have been nice. Also would have been more comfortably in the room if there were a couple of chairs. I'm only short but couldn't sit upright on the bank so we just sat on the floor.

- laura (9/5): - I decided to stay at Holdens Bay holiday park a few nights to cut on accommodation expenses, however it turned out to be my kids' favourite spot. The trampoline and hot tubs were a plus. The receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful in finding activities to do on rainy days. Perhaps an extra blanket or doona for the queen bed.

The cabin has everything you need for cooking. If you’re staying in a van or car, you can rent equipment at reception. The shared kitchen was great, with three stoves, two ovens, and plenty of sinks. There were also plenty of showers and toilets, and everything was very clean. Overall, a really good experience. The staff were very kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend this camping. The kids enjoyed the pool and playground, lovely place, close to Rotorua but also felt we could relax away from the hustle and bustle of town. Managers and staff were lovely and friendly. Also there is a cool little museum just a few doors down. The spa was out of order but not a big deal, we’ll look forward to a spa on our next visit

- Sharon (5/5): Average - unit needs modernising and better shower - proximity to family. clean and tidy/ The shower box was old fashioned and a step up, without any grip handle for getting out. For a short person (5f 3inch) this was a challenge. The shower dial was loose, which made it difficult to know where hot or cold water was on. The pressure was poor and for my husband at just under 6 ft was hopeless. e also didnot like the small double bed. The springs were bad in mattress. I ended up sleeping on the single old metal bed in lounge, that was not much better and squeaked each time you moved.. TV was useless for us, we wanted TV only not the internet so TV channel kept closing down right in middle of our programmes. Little bar fridge had been set on high so froze our cheeses, ham etc as we didnot realise until next morning.

- Steph (9/5): Peaceful, comfortable and everything you need nearby. - Loved the pools and the location was fantastic. Peaceful and close to the lake but not too far from town. The only slightly annoying thing was the door codes to get in to facilities, but can understand why they were needed.

You could feel the metal of the bunks due to thin foam mattress. The door lock to the women's bathroom area was not working. You get a code but was useless when you could just push the door open. Felt unsafe going to the bathroom when dark. Be aware. Not safe.
