Guest Reviews
- karen (7/5): - Has everything needed for comfy stay.
Generous with extras Cottage needs maintenance
Toilet roll holder fell off
Light in bathroom mission shade
Stove top elements not working
Remotes need batteries
- Kaye (10/5): A very peaceful and stunning place - Beautifully furnished with stunning views. Nil
- Bruce (10/5): Highly recommend- a great stay all round. A gem!! - We stayed in one of the cottages for 2 nights. It was a lovely stay. Well appointed, very comfortable, spacious and in a wonderful setting. Very enjoyable.
Also did the reserve wine tasting and Sunday lunch. Everything about it was delightful. Owners and staff are very hospitable, friendly and helpful. And it is close to Hobart. Lovely wines and lunch. Loved everything
- Rebecca (8/5): - The roosters need to go. No one wants to be woken at 5.29am.
The cottages are looking a bit tired and unloved since my last visit. The laundry stairs are dangerously damaged .
- Sharon (6/5): - The cottages were nice and homely. The bed was very hard
The mirror in the bathroom was too high and too small .
Toilet roll holder broken
Outside the cottages could do with a huge clean up .
Outdoor furniture and verandah was covered in bird poo .
Rooster starting at 4 am every morning
- Paul (10/5): Great accommodation and lovely hosts. - Location was fabulous. Loved the wine tasting.
- Dave (10/5): -
- Paul (6/5): Great location, nice place to stay in the Coal River Valley area - Location and view from the room is fantastic. The cleanliness and presentation of the room was exceptional. The room advertised and included a full-size bath in the bathroom, however, the water appeared to not be connected to fill the bath. My wife was looking forward to utilising the bath and was disappointed that usage was not available nor advised either way.
- jill & col (3/5): Excellent views - Not as advertised and not suitable for elderly couples with the amount of stairs which you hve to climb. This should be mentioned on their web site as well as Bookig.com Advertised with the amount of stairs for the elderly travellers
- Shisham (7/5): -
- Ingrid (8/5): Lovely setting, in need of a freshen up, bird life very noisy. - Lovely view. Good sized cabins, more like mini house Way too many roosters. Very noisy from 3:30am.
Could do with a freshen up, spring clean
- Sandeep (8/5): Pictu perfect location - Beautiful setting No wifi , a little off the town .no dining facility closeby
- Jaymie (9/5): Very relaxing and enjoyable. - The cottage was fantastic overall and very comfortable. It was peaceful and private, so relaxing to be in a beautiful vineyard with stunning views. The dishwasher unfortunately did not work properly and the bath was not plumbed in which was disappointing. This may be due to possibly being on tank water and it being summer which I understand but it should not be featured in the image of the bathroom if it is unavailable to use as I wished to. Apart from these little things I really ejoyed my stay, thank you.
- James (7/5): -
- Jon Leng (9/5): Convenience of a cellar door next to the unit. - The cottage overlooks the rows of sun-drenched grapevines, whilst roosters crows from the porch. The cottage was spacious and had a full kitchen. The location was handy has we could get local produce easily and paired it with their wines onsite. Nil
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Amber (7/5): Beautiful and cosy. - The view from my room was beautiful. I would suggest more lighting out the front of the cottages.
- Jonahlyn (8/5): -
- Christine (9/5): - The cottage was located in a private setting at a vineyard overlooking water. The cottage was comfortable and a short drive to Richmond for dinner.
- Amanda (7/5): - A great location with lovely views. The fact that the main bedroom was in the kitchen/living area was a little strange.
- Anne-Marie (8/5): - Perfect location
- Olivia (8/5): -
- Nick (8/5): -
- Jackie (10/5): Very comfortable , beautiful scenery and perfect little cottage . - I loved the decor style of the cottage and the little finishing touches . Beautiful views too. Loved the sheep and chickens there . It would have been nice if the restaurant was open . But we should have done our homework
- Shuttleworth (10/5): -
- Gina (10/5): -
- Thulisa (4/5): The cottage did not present the same as the images. Thanks so much for allowing us to stay thought. - Love the location and the beautiful views, just lovely to wake up and sip your tea or coffee to 🥰 It was uncomfortable because of the cleanliness. It was musky smelling and cobwebs on the beautiful chandelier lights. Dusty blinds & windows. Couldn't even attempt to use the dishwasher, it was mouldy with stale water.
My friend’s quilt had stains on it which made it uncomfortable for them to sleep on the bed.
The bed sheets and towels were clean and plenty provided, but it was hard to trust anything after that experience. I'm sure they weren't fresh stains, so maybe if they were covered quilts it would help keep the stains out of sight.
- Claire (8/5): -
- Jason (6/5): - When opening door to the cabin there was a damp smell .Bathroom door wouldnt close or lock.1st night using the basin in the bathroom I had to find a metal coat hanger and unbock the drain as it filled the sink with water and wouldnt drainaway.I filled.a.small.cup with hair and other material i pulled.out of.the sink drain and the smell was not nice for the 1st nights stay. All 3 plugs in the bathroom did not fit the bathtub so it was showers only as we couldnt fill the tub up.Iron in the room was old and leaked water and as a result my husbands shirt for the wedding was marked.Veiw and location was beautiful and the sound of the roosters in the morning was great. Was there for a wedding and food was served to guests before the actual wedding party . 2 Employees working didnt know how to.make.the 3 cocktails on the drinks menu and tried to.give us tumblers for.wine .because they didnt have any clean wine glasses.Guests at the wedding had to.keep going to look for barstaff to.serve the wedding guests.Employees makingband drinking coffee behind the bar while guests stood at the bar waiting to be served.
- Patrick (10/5): - Amazing view and high tea!
- Anthony (9/5): Second stay and will gladly come again. - Very peaceful (other than the 4am roosters) but that is still far better than traffic noise. Property is great and will stay here more often The 4am roosters!! Kidding - they are ok.
- Ernie (9/5): Will stay again, particularly if connecting to flights at the airport. - Close to Hobart airport but quiet country setting. Well laid out. Wandering poultry were cute and we had a lovely lunch at the onsite restaurent. Beautiful water views Parking was a bit unclear, but we worked it out.
- Susan (8/5): - Lovely little cottage with a deep claw foot bath.
Felt a little neglected, especially with cobwebs hanging over the double bed. Stainless steel items needed a proper cleaning agent used on them. No proper parking space for our car near cabin. These things apart we enjoyed our two nights here.
- Anthony (9/5): Was a great stay and looking forward to being back in a week or so. - Very comfortable and guests well catered for with facilities in the rooms. Close to my work for the week and with a wonderful outlook across the water and vineyards The friendly roosters that decided 4am was a great time to wake up!! Far better to wake to that however than traffic noise or neighbors right on the fence line.
- Dora (10/5): Exceptional - The place is stunning, very cosy accommodation Hot water was not hot enough for a shower
- Elizabeth (7/5): Good -
- Suzie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mathew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kareen (8/5): - Lovely views and accommodation decor. Close to tourist attractions.
- Catriona (8/5): A great place to relax and unwind. - Quiet, peaceful, comfortable and private with a lovely view. And it has a bath!
- Jill (7/5): With general maintenance and care this could be a fabulous place - The view was fabulous and the accommodation was fine.
There was no wine in the fridge and the cellar was closed when we arrived You can feel every single spring on the double bed. There was nothing between the mattress and sheet on any of the beds - no mattress protection or blanket.
The shower leaks at the wall and there is only one towel rail . . . for four people
Also a horrible old bean bag is lying outside where children want to jump on it
We had to rescue many guinea fowl chicks from the netting around the vines. Seeing them and the chickens was nice.
The Peter Rabbit Garden and cellar were both closed when we went
- Vicki (9/5): We loved it!!! - Location ...surrounded by the vineyard!!!!!!!!!
The cottage was fantastic. Everything you could possibly need.
So quiet
- JAN (10/5): - The decor and the effect put into the design was excellent. The view excellent and the ambiance of the cottage and surrounding area. All beautiful. Would highly recommend
- Denis (10/5): - Interior decor charming & very comfortable.
However verandah & its furniture were shabby.
Some soiling by birds/ chickens?
- Jana (4/5): We do not plan to stay here again, - View was great. Location near Richmond and so many good wineries was also good. We notified the property days in advance that our flight arrived at 8 PM so we wouldn't arrive before 9 PM. [We sent several e-mails and left two phone messages before we got a response.] They said we'd have the second cabin and the key would be under the mat. We arrived after dark, the stairway was not lighted, we hit our shins because we didn't know how long the steps were, had to carry luggage, etc. Mattress in the single bed was very uncomfortable; mattress in other bed was OK. Bathroom pocket door would not close. The place to park the car was on the edge of a drop off, and parking at night was challenging.
- Wayne (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (8/5): Nice place for a short stay - almost perfect - Nice views from property over vineyards and an inlet to Derwent bay Roosters at dawn. Pillows too big and hard. Hobart airport flight path close by
- Karen (8/5): Very good - Great.. very peaceful Couple of maintenance issues. Toilet holder broken. TV very small and remote didn't work well.
- Sarah (7/5): It was convenient but I was hoping for a sleep in! - It was close to the location of a family wedding. It was clean and well equipped. There are roosters and chickens free roaming around the area. This resulted in very early awakening from the rooster alarm clocks and evidence of chicken poop around the cottages.
- Jones (8/5): Very good -
- George (10/5): - Location was great, great scenery and night sky was amazing. Wendy was an excellent host and responsive. Ian provided wonderful wine tasting experience.
- Wendy (10/5): - This is the best place we have stayed in so far on our 2 month visit.
- Lily (10/5): Exceptional - Clean, and comfortable. Quiet with good location. Pretty views.
- Cossins (10/5): We loved our stay at Riversdale Estate and look forward to visiting again - Beautiful cottage with a stunning view overlooking the vineyard
- Linda (10/5): We have stayed more than once at this location and it is absolutely beautiful - Amazing location and views - so close to the airport - very convenient and such beautiful location Everything was picture perfect
- Stuart (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - When we arrived, we were immediately overwhelmed by the stunning views. We went for a wine tasting and was treated with being looked after by Ian, the owner. He was very welcoming, knowledgeable and a joy to chat with while we tasted the wines. The wines were incredible too!
We made our way to our cottage, which fit our little family's needs perfectly. Clean and cosy with everything we needed. Our friends were in the cottage next to us and their kids loved seeing the chickens and wildlife. Nothing. We loved our visit!
- Dragana (10/5): - An enjoyable stay. Beautiful surroundings and peaceful location. Very comfortable big bed. Close to Hobart, airport and gorgeous Richmond.
Would have loved a small milk to make a coffee upon arrival.
An information booklet listing the closest supermarket, medical facility and dining options would be useful to someone that has never visited the area.
- Anne-lise (9/5): Unforgettable Christmas - The view was amazing The roosters singing at 5AM
- Erin (10/5): - Cottage on a beautiful vineyard. So peaceful & quiet save for our chicken friends. Clean, spacious, full kitchen to cook. Laundry is coin laundry, so come prepared. No WiFi, but they do not advertise having it. Would stay again.
- Geraldine (10/5): - Quiet, comfortable and relaxing.
Well equipped country cottage.
- Courtney (9/5): We enjoyed the view down to the vines and river, the peace and serenity. - Stunning outlook and peaceful. The chickens were good entertainment for the kids.
- Jill (8/5): - The key to the Villa was not under the mat as advised in email and someone else was staying in that Villa anyway. Walked down to the cellar door to get a number for the Contact person as we did not receive a SMS.
We were advised to choose another villa to stay in. This took about an hour of our time after arriving from a long day travelling.
Needed to empty the dishwasher on arrival.
Beautiful setting with wonderful views. Spacious & comfortable. We would stay again.
- Kevin (8/5): Very good -
- John (9/5): Superb - Location and views were great
- Sonya (8/5): Very good - Wine tasting and talking with Ricou was amazing. The peacecand quiet. Breakfast not supplied and bistro not open.
- Carina (8/5): Dainty but spacious little cottage with beautiful and peaceful view. - The cottage and the view were absolutely stunning. The fact that wild roaming chicken and sheep with lambs were all around us was fantastic for the kids.
The location was perfect for what we were after over the weekend.
We were welcomed with a text and a clear description of check in. Wendy was very helpful and friendly over the phone. The cleanliness- or lack of. Spiderwebs all over the ceilings, toothpaste splatter all over the bathroom backsplash. All the obvious things made me wonder what else would have not been cleaned.
We were also missing a hair dryer, which in the cold weather is so necessary. We didn’t receive a solution based answer when we contacted the property manager, so we had to knock on other guests doors to ask if we could share.
- Amanda (9/5): Great place to stay especially with a young child , she loves riding her bike around the vineyard and seeing all the she - The location was great , just up the road from Richmond but away from the business of the town on what felt like our own private vineyard , only seen two other people whilst there which just added to the serenity of it all , feeling like we had the whole place to ourselves .
The claw foot bath was a lovely touch
- Mohammed (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen Lorraine (8/5): - Lovely location, spacious accommodation and instructions for late arrival (9.30pm) were easy to follow. Parking options were unclear and we did a couple of loops around in the dark before parking on the verge opposite our cottage. Once inside we discovered flat batteries in the aircon remote and frozen milk in the fridge. A bit disappointing as we were cold & tired on arrival and a warming tea/coffee would have been lovely. Started the aircon manually. Other than those initial inconveniences we enjoyed our stay.
- Tony (8/5): - Convenient for our requirements
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Lovely getaway - The cottages are lovely, very comfortable bed and well set up. It would be really good in the winter months for a heater to be on for arrival - it was freezing cold on arrival and the heater took a long time to warm things up, not too welcoming. There was lots of tea, coffee & sugar but no milk and it's a long way late at night to drive out to find some, given there is no reception. The cottage was very comfortable and clean, but looks like the cleaner forgot the shower which needed a good scrub and the chandelier that had a lot of cobwebs. We were sent an update text message to say the original email regarding which cottage we were assigned to was incorrect, and that the key would be under the mat of a different cottage - which we assumed was not right, and the key was in fact under the mat of our cottage. Overall, the accommodation was beautiful, close to Richmond and had a beautiful outlook over the vineyard. Despite one or two small things, we would definitely recommend.
- Santosh (10/5): - Awesome location and very quiet place to stay.
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ingrid (9/5): Superb - Gorgeous setting, we arrived at night and thankful for the welcome lights & heater on for us. View amazing, tranquil but close to Hobart by car
- Jill (1/5): Absolute rip off - The view The room was dirty and the second bedroom was in the lounge, there was mould in the shower and also in the kitchen sink. No replacement toilet paper or towels.the laundry had a strong smell of cigarettes and the washing machines had dirt in them.the stove in the kitchen was of poor quality and had no instructions, the air conditioner/heater needs to be upgraded as it was not adequate for the room.no wifi and no information to contact owners or assistance, no fire blanket or smoke detector……….it was crap
- Greg (10/5): Our stay was once again very enyoable. - We have stayed at "Riversdale" three times now and found the cottages very comfortable and the surrounding views excellent. We will not hesitate to stay again next year. The ability to follow the tasting trail around the area.was most enjoyable. There was nothing to dislike about our stay.
- Sherri (9/5): Out of the normal accommodation - It felt really homely and so peaceful. Would've liked the outside lights on a timer to turn off after a reasonable time.
- Giacomo (7/5): Very enjoyable - Location (Closeness to airport), Cabin type accommodation, and a great country outlook makes for a very relaxing holiday away from the hussell and bussell. Our first Cabin was not up to cratch and we were transferred to another Cabin, which was greatly appreciated.
- Marlene (9/5): Superb - Lovely and quiet, spectacular views, and beautiful wines No pay per view television
- Sue (8/5): What an amazing place to stay. Loved the tranquility and comfort. Lov, love, loved it! - Lovely setting
Beautifully decorated Bathroom door difficult to open
- Tina (9/5): We thouroughly enjoyed the cottage, its location outlook and the animals. - Peaceful location and magnificent views The entrance was difficult to navigate uneven ground
- Phillipa (8/5): Very good - Great value for money lovely location nice and quiet Loved the chooks but the roster did wake us up lol
- Peta (10/5): - Great location and very quiet
- Carolyne (9/5): We really enjoyed staying and was close enough to Hobart. - Beautiful location at a great place.set up very well. Naughty chook.
- Smithy075 (8/5): Very good - These are great for a family weekend away , not the first time we have stayed and definitely won't be the last ,
French style cottages on a winery....you can't ask for much more .... they are starting to show a bit of age, but I feel it just adds to the character of this location.
Perfectly placed in an area with so much to offer
It's great for our city kids to experience what living on a working property is all about .
If you don't like early morning alarms ( roosters)
I suggest some ear plugs...😆
It just adds to the French style farm stay 👍👍
- Leeanne (7/5): Stay was ok bed was clean and comfy and the view was stunning, we enjoyed the chooks as well. - The location was very tranquil The hotplates were extremely slow to cook on. So we gave up and used the bbq but that wasnt much better. We ate out after the first night. Also the tiles in the shower were very dirty the grout needs teplacing.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful spot, with the tranquility of being inside a vineyard. Waking up to the peaceful and gorgeous place in the world The mosquitoes, were a pest. They did supply spray and coils, which helps
- Ben (8/5): Very good -
- Diane (8/5): Overall a good place to stay. We were only really in it to sleep as we had a surf carnival to attend - We were in Stanton and it was a spacious cottage for 3 people. The room was pretty clean although the bedside lamp was very dusty so I didn't use it. The verandah needed a good clean, lots of cobwebs etc.
- Belinda (6/5): Picturesque Location - Riversdale Cottage was a picturesque location, set amongst the vineyards overlooking the lake, it was very comfortable and cosy, a beautiful place to stay. Unfortunately though a family of rosters woke us every morning, sometimes as early as 4.45am. If you are a morning person then this place is definitely for you. The advantage of being waken so early is you can enjoy the gorgeous morning sunrises. The only other negative was there was no hairdryer.
- Veronika (9/5): Superb - Cosy home
Beautiful view
Good facilities Providing cooking essentials like oil and spices
- Annette (5/5): Passable -
- Nikala (10/5): - Beautiful location, stunning view from the deck. Enjoyed relaxing at the end of the day in a lovely deep hot bath. Nice and quiet location felt far away from everything but very close to getting into town. Would recommend.
- Shannan (6/5): - The view was incredible. Annnd that's about it. The map location to get to the property was incorrect so we ended up having to call them to find out where to go, which was a bit frustrating but we got there!
The bed was made a bit weird? There was no fitted sheet, or doona cover on the doona, the bed was made with flat sheets only? Felt this was strange and messy option.
There was a washing machine and dryer included in the stay, but when we went to use it, found out it was coin operated 3x $2coins for the washer, and $5 for the dryer (I think) but it didn't work, ate our coins anyway, and the property owner/manager was unresponsive when I asked about this.
There was a bathtub but no bathwash, shower and two small hotel soap discs. Felt a bit poor on amenities. Would have liked to seen a small bottle of bubble bath or something, or shower gel.
I know these are small things but it made the stay feel a bit short of good. They're simple and easy changes to elevate the experience.
Probably wouldn't stay again.
Did enjoy the wild bunnies, chickens, roosters and guinea fouls, very cute farm animals.
- Veronika (8/5): Great location, only 14mins from Hobart Airport. - French Provence style of accommodation, very posh. Very nice bathroom with a free standing bath tub. Comfy beds. The closest possible location to the airport, only 11km or 14mins! Clean. Easy to find and get in. No Wi-fi. Would be nice if there is some milk in the fridge you can have in your coffee/tea in the morning. Noisy farm animals (roosters) would wake me up as early as 4am and would not stop squawking till 8am. No shower gels, just shampoo/conditioner.
- Michelle (6/5): For the price of this accommodation we expected better maintained facilities. - The view was beautiful. the cottages could be very nice if maintained properly. The cottage we were in had parking out the front. Maintenance - steps to the laundry (which wasn't functional) were a death trap. (a lawsuit waiting to happen).
Cottages are located in a winery/wedding setting but the room only had a small mirror above the bathroom sink. The wardrobes did not have any full length hanging.
Kitchen was well equipped - but the fridge was not satisfactory - only half sized and needed to be defrosted desperately, It took two days to make ice and there was no space for food in the freezer. The fridge struggled to keep any food cold.
The beds were clean and comfortable. The bathroom had been updated but the sliding door didn't close easily (and was noisy) and not enough towel rails - the one towel rail that was there was falling off the tiles. The shower was very mouldy.
- Yolande (9/5): Serene stay in the vinyard - Really peaceful location, private cottages and comfortably furnished. No walks nearby due to concerns about contamination of vines, which is fair.
