Guest Reviews
- Samuel (10/5): - Room is spotless and clean. Everything is in good shape
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property is cute and small but very hygienic and clean. Good for one person to stay. Price is little high compared to the room
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Easy property to stay at. Private. Clean. Curtains let too much light in so next time Ill take my eye covers. Very close to good food and convenient for me to attend my course.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Satish k Sethi - Hi the room was tiny/ initially the booked me into a really tiny room. We are a couple and we would have had an uncomfortable night. The initial room had a very poor view on to a wall. This is student accommodation not 3.5 star accommodation. Very difficult to find. Had to go through student’s common room to get to our bedroom. Not serviced. Very basic towels. This is the worst fitout place I have been to. Locks everywhere - have to take keys with you. Felt out of place being in a hall of residence. Price was wrong - should be $50 per night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - economical and convenient
pleasant staff
easy checkin and out
- Xueyang (6/5): - Fire alarm triggered by someone in the student accommodation and had to run out.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff, clean, reasonable price. Great location for trams, buses, plenty of parking if you have a car. Free parking overnight until 08:30am in the white zones.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Reception staff were all very helpful.
Tv does not work and one of the two did not work, but otherwise ‘it was okay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great, clean room. I just wish it was closer to the city.
- Mark (2/5): - I had to be moved at 2.30 a.m. because there is NO air conditioning in this "Green" building.
The beds are the same as concrete, and there are few amenities
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was clean all the kitchen appliances worked.
However the tv refused to be tuned to get the free to air channels neither auto or manual tuning worked.
The bed itself was very comfortable however a serious lack of bedding was an issue NO extra pillow (1 isn't really enough) And NO doona or Warm winter weight blanket meant I was cold.
The shower and bathroom were very good and the desk & chair were very comfortable to work on.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We stayed here because of the proximity to Wattle Park where we attended a wedding. The Fusion cafe was open so we were able to buy lunch close by. Reception staff were friendly and helpful which made our stay pleasant. The room was on the small side but had everything we needed.
- Velavan (10/5): - Deakin Residential Services is very nice place to stay. Neat and tidy, value for money.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A nice place to stay and a real value for money. Friendly staff, clean rooms, good amenities like well sized fridge, kitchenette, study table, free wifi, etc.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quiet and comfortable - Very good value for money for an apartment with kitchen, bathroom free wi fi. The bed was very comfortable, the area was very quiet and the building secure with great service.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Shampoo boxes were all empty, there was only one bath towels and it was dirty. It seems like there’s no house cleaning services. The room inside is moisture and cold while the heater keeps not working. However, luckily there was hot water supply.
- Belinda (8/5): - Self-contained and a great location for all my week's bits and pieces, at Deakin.
- Patrick (10/5): A nice stay in Deakin Residential Services. - The staff was friendly. Room was clean. Air conditioner was good. Free Wi Fi provided. Location was good and close to restaurants. It had free car parking because of weekend. Also the room rate was not expensive.
- Marina (8/5): Reasonable cost for short term stay - Room was what I expected: simple, basic necessities, and very clean. I was just there for one night, to help support my daughter who was starting a semester of study as an international student at Deakin.
- Profiteer (8/5): Parking fee extra - Reception office was hidden behind construction boarding. There was no bell to gain entrance. Sign at door said ring a number. Once inside the reception staff was very helpful.
- Bill (10/5): Far better than I anticipated. - just a great experience all round. Who needs to stay at a big hotel property when this accommodation met all my needs and so cheap. Great value!!
- Linda (8/5): Compact but good except for wifi - Very compact, clean and organised room. Staff were very helpful. However wi fi not at all good and suggest instructions for tv are left in room
- Sarah (10/5): - The place was pleasant & well set up. Good security & easy to access.
- Gem (8/5): Great for a Deakin Uni conference stay - Much better than anticipated, overall! I would recommend this place during quiet term times, and on week days, when the nearby facilities are all open but the noise and crowds are minimal.
- tayla (6/5): Clean - Nice place for one person for a night, very slow internet, tv wouldn't work. Clean room and is cheap but wouldn't stay for more than a night
- Patrick (10/5): Very good accommodation choice - Overall very good.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Unpleasantly surprised when heavy vehicle construction noise on first days began well before 6am.
After one week had to ask for towels and sheets to be changed.
- Chris (8/5): Nice cheap digs convenient to city tram and bus - Nice place to stay, but you get what you pay for. The bed was dreadful, but staff did try to find me a more comfortable mattress [it wasn't]. Would have appreciated having my bin emptied as I was there for a week and ate take away Indian which wasn't emptied from the bin, a bit disappointing. But apart from that, good cheap digs in Melb. Also a clean towel would have been nice, didn't enjoy using the same one for over a week. Better quality towels would have been nice too, but I appreciate its is student digs. perhaps they could have several rooms set up with better quality bed, towels etc for an increased price, would be a good option. Fabulous free internet, very fast was much appreciated and good sized television. Excellent airconditioning.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean accomodation with everything that you need for a successful night stay. The only disadvantage was having to pay for parking during the weekdays and it can be a bit noisy wit nearly construction. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable. Would stay here again anytime.
- Peter (10/5): Quick stop one night, all very good. - Only there for 5 overnight hours and no complaints.
- Tony (8/5): Perfect for student stay - Perfect for attending lectures at Deakin University, very quiet and clean rooms.
- Ricky (8/5): Great stay for the price, needs improvement though - Stayed here for a conference at Deakin - mostly great, but keep in mind that the logic of the accomodation is that of a student hostel, not a fully furnished studio apartment. Great shower, comfortable AC, extremely nice private study area with very clever lighting, fridge is well sized, good stove and everything was in good working order.
However, every furnished studio apartment I've ever been to had with its stove at least some minimal cooking utensils; usually a cheap pot, a cheap pan, a half excuse of a knife, a spatula, a plastic chopping board and often some salt and pepper. Sure you won't be preparing anything three michelin starred but at the very least you'd be able to prepare a quick pasta, some steak, etc.
This apartment had nothing but two plates (a small and large), a bowl, one butter knife, one tablespoon, one teaspoon and a fork. And that's it. You get a two stove gaslit kitchen top but its unclear what that's for unless you're dragging along a kitchen with you which I, and most of my fellow travellers, don't usually do.
I wouldn't have minded if they bumped the costs up by a couple dollars a night to facilitate for these, because without them its basically your usual hotel room (rather than a furnished studio) where you essentially have to eat out every meal except a milk+cereal/toast for breakfast. Also, the bed mattress is below par of even the most basic budget motels (here I'm comparing with Ibis etc).
Very decent for the price though.
- g (6/5): Too far away from the city!
60 tram stops away - The accom was $50 taxi trip to the city 60 tram stops
Good accom excellent staff!
Just too far away from the city
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Small but cheap room. Room numbering needs tone improved. Overall, happy with my stay. Will be staying there again.
- Udayan (8/5): - It was a great place with very supporting and warm reception staff, however free WiFi fried a couple of times. The TV didn't work, and the property had no technician to correct it. And full booking meant, I didn't get different room.
- jodie (8/5): Convenient and affordable - For the price this accommodation is excellent value in a great location should you need to attend deakin university.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Basic accomodation - Room was clean but very basic. The bed was terrible. It is student accommodation so don't expect a hotel. There is nothing close to the hotel.
- Patrick (10/5): A comfortable accormmodation. - the room is clean and of good size. It has all the basis facility.
- PK, Floorcraft (10/5): Affordable clean close to trams - At the last minute I needed somewhere to stay in the eastern suburbs due to work. The room was fine, had a small kitchen and for less than $90 a night nowhere better anywhere in the city.
- dandan (8/5): Great - Quiet, small studio, good locations for deakin students
- John (6/5): Clean & Comfortable for a Business/Education trip - These are some of the nicest student residences I've seen ... a little hard to find if you arrive late at night - Look for the MB at the top of the building on the left rather than relying on 'Accommodation' signage.
Rooms are clean, well equipped ... only complaint was the AC is centrally controlled & was a little cold to begin with & there is no extra bedding.
Staff were exceedingly polite, friendly & helpful!
