- Jenny (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay, room was warm and bed comfortable. The rooms are a tad small but we were only there for the night. Meals at the Hotel were lovely and staff were wonderful.
- Victor (8/5): - Good place to visit the Tasmania high country lakes.
- Ashley (4/5): - Booked king deluxe room which was very small, no cupboard to hang clothes, dinner was available from 6pm until 9.30pm yet we arrived at 7.15pm to be told kitchen is closing. They did however take our order but while sitting there having dinner staff were vacuuming and putting chairs on tables which made us feel uncomfortable and rushed our dinner. Room cost $320 overnight which is ridiculously overpriced for what you get.
- Janet (8/5): - Beautiful spot right on the lake.
Staff were great and so easy to get on with
Comfortable rooms
- Kathy (10/5): - Lovely area. Comfortable room and excellent tavern.
- halina (10/5): Impressive Stay - The property has been renovated since my stay here a few years ago and it is amazing. Very tastefully decorated, spacious, extremely comfy beds and very well supplied for breakfast/tea/coffee, good heating.
- Christopher (10/5): - The best restaurant.
Room was great, clean and all amenities perfect!
- YL (10/5): - Had a relaxing stay at the hotel, the room is stylish and comfortable.
- Eric (10/5): - Generally, very good. It is a remote area so Wi-Fi is very slow and poor. I have to use mobile data to connect internet.
- Stephen (10/5): - Recently renovated and very comfortable. Continental breakfast we weren't expecting which was great. Nothing to do in the area though unless you like fishing. The staff were very friendly
- Stephen (10/5): - Well equipped, spotless and comfortable room. Very limited food options for vegetarians.
- Leeann (10/5): - Beautiful location
- Ashis (8/5): - Overall good experience. Room was good size just a little bit cozy but nice and tidy up. Staff were friendly. Went there for fishing around great lakes couldn’t had a luck but we enjoyed with our lil one. Much recommended.
- Sari (10/5): - Well managed accommodation and restaurant with free parking.
- Cecelia (10/5): - Dinner was amazing .
- Annette (8/5): - Lovely place to stay.
- Joyanne (10/5): - Just loved the place and must say the most comfortable bed ever!! like sleeping on a cloud. The hospitality was awesome... beautiful restaurant and pub and great amazing views!!
- Sabine (10/5): - We stayed in a family room, which is a self-contained unit with two bedrooms, a lounge / dining / kitchenette area, and beautiful views over the grounds towards the Great Lake.
We had a variety of wildlife right outside our windows, and the Great Lake Hotel / Miena Village was the perfect base for our Central Highlands adventure.
- Paul (6/5): - I didn't like the food from the restaurant. They fry fries in the same pan as they fry fish, horrible. Everyone gets the same sause over there meat, kangaroomeat etc. Too salty. It's a great pity because there are no other options within 40km. The room was very nice, clean, heating below the blankets as it can be cold during the night. Heating with a dyson ventilator works very well.
- sharlene (8/5): - View of the great lake lovley.
- Michael (10/5): - The Great Lake Hotel lies way up on the central plateau and hence is a great place to explore this alpine wilderness. If you like trout fishing there is ample choice. Regarding the Hotel, rooms are very comfortable, staff are so friendly, restaurant is good and the wallabies are a delight in the evening. This is a great place to relax for a few days.
- Brian (10/5): - Remote location. Great views
- Theresa (10/5): - All good Thank you
- Gill (10/5): - The staff were so welcoming. Room was immaculate and the food was delicious. A fabulous place to stay to embrace everything the Highlands has to offer.

- Robin (8/5): - N/A
- Leng Kim (10/5): Too short a stay - This hotel is really amazing, room is clean and neat not forgetting the complimentary breakfast comes with coffee and tea are fantastic. Toilet and share bathroom are very clean too. Restaurant’s food is delicious, thumbs up!!!
- William (8/5): - We were in Room 7 which has a connecting door with Room 8. Some serious work is required to sound proof the connecting door. you can actually see from one room to the other, the gap around the door is so large.
- Neil (10/5): - Very comfortable accommodation and well located.
- Mathew (10/5): - This cabin has to be the most comfortable, best set up cabin that we have stayed in. We had a delicious dinner in the restaurant however the cabin had everything you need to be self sufficient and the choice of cereal etc for breakfast was great.
- Marie (10/5): - Great overnight stay, food was very nice and you can use washing machines and dryers after 3pm.
- Paul (10/5): - We absolutely loved our stay. A spectacular setting, a lovely room and a fantastic meal.
- Simon (6/5): - We stayed in the ensuite room it was clean.
Food at the restaurant was good.
Noisy plumbing OK as long as next Room isn't taking a shower at 5am!!.
Gardener using the blower at 8am so if you want a lie in!
- Barb (10/5): - Had a great room with view over the Great Lake’. Bathroom had a rain shower with good pressure. Need to book a table for dinner even though you’re staying there - locals frequent as well. Food good, the mains were big and hearty. Service friendly. Wallaby’s visit in the evenings.
- Sam (8/5): - Kids loved the little family cabin. Super comfy beds too! Good pub. Surroundings were magic!
- Alison (10/5): - The apartment was the perfect overnight stopover. The views were picturesque and we saw pademelons outside our cabin at dusk, as well as an echidna down by the lake. The apartment was clean and the beds were very comfortable. It was great to have breakfast items supplied. It would be good to have an iron and ironing board in the room, but otherwise everything was perfect.
- gina (8/5): - This property is excellent to stay out while travelling around. The room had been refurbished and was very clean. The beds were very comfortable. We stayed in the family room and also had a continental breakfast which was a bonus. Well done great lake hotel
- cheryl (10/5): - This Hotel is really a great place to go up in the highlands to get some peace and quite has a nice cozy atmosphere, Has really friendly staff, Rooms are clean and tidy. has really nice meals just a good place to go.
- BOB (8/5): - Very comfortable small room
- Alison (4/5): - Room was to close to hotel smoking area, so couldnt open window. Heater was way to noisy for such a small room. Drain in the shower was making noise when other people in other rooms were showing. Cleaner walked in to room with only a quick knock and opened door lucky i was finished dressing. Terrible night never go back.
- Alison (10/5): - Very thoughtful with room layout, bathroom products and continental breakfast. Bed was super comfy and the room was so clean.
- Ron (10/5): - Very clean ,staff were helpful and friendly. Meals were great.
- DEAN (10/5): - What a gem of a place to stay, just loved it.
Hotel meals were great and ambience awesome.
Wildlife outside the room window at dusk was a treat.
- Alicia (10/5): - Everything was excellent.
- Debbie (10/5): - So lovely to be welcomed by your staff into the hotel. Room was everything we needed. Hotel was great… warm atmosphere, good food and drinks. Would have liked some local fish in the menu.
- Paul (8/5): - Units could have sink running water, microwave ensuit
- Victoria (8/5): - Really well stocked quality soaps and a very generous breakfast with several packets of cereal, bread, nice jams, honey, milk. And i loved the excellent quality T2 teas and Robert Tims coffee bags. Excellent value for the price we paid.
There were no staff present because we stayed during off-peak time when the hotel was closed, so a bit quiet and lonely, (Aug 2023). We would have appreciated a bit more lighting around the toilets because we had to use our torches to get to the toilet. Maybe the sensor lights were forgotten to be turned on.
Beautifully clean though, would be great in summer.
- Keith (10/5): - Easy check in quite environment 😀
- Kim (10/5): - This hotel has been newly renovated in a very modern interior. We had the king with kitchenette for my mum and me and we were super comfy. The restaurant and bar area are so cozy and warm and great atmosphere. Definitely will go back and would highly recommend to anyone doing a scenic trip through the Central Highlands to use this as a point of stay...wonderful staff as well..
- Rachael (10/5): - Lovely place to stay, thank you for having us !
- Sophie (10/5): - The hotel was exceptionally clean and extremely comfortable; very well appointed motel cabins, beautifully comfortable beds and well stocked cupboards and lovely toiletries. All the staff on site were excellent especially young Dylan in the restaurant and bar. Evenings by the fireside were very cozy and welcome, some great food from the kitchen too - phenomenal apple pie! We had underestimated how quiet Miena would be in winter, also extremely disappointed the local trout was nowhere to be found anywhere on any menu throughout the central plateau that we could find. As we were travelling with our young son, a couple of board games or cards available to play in the bar or cabin would’ve been appreciated. Otherwise, a really excellent accommodation.
- Tox (10/5): - The property is as expected, when you have limited options you're going to get bare basics. The shared facilities do the job, they're maintained and kept clean. The room I had was cozy yet spacious enough, the bed comfortably and warm, very warm. The room decor is lodge like and feels welcoming. The staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, good stay and beautiful area to explore. The food at the hotel is Absolutely TOP NOTCH! They do a phenomenal job there with meals.
- Oudomreaksmey (10/5): - Super clean
- Michael (10/5): - Room was compact and comfortable.
Staff very friendly.
meal in Restaurant excellent.
- Taylor (10/5): - Clean, friendly and good facilities.
- Fairlie (8/5): - Modern room with ensuite perfect for our needs with continental breakfast assortment of condiments tea and coffee right next to pub for a great feed and lake views and 3 huge fireplaces 👍
- Sarah (10/5): - Beautiful room, nice restaurant. Felt like an oasis in the middle of no where on our travels though Tasmania. Our en-suite room had everything we needed and we really enjoyed our stay.
- Catherine (10/5): - Great option to stop along the way. Good amenities, nice shower, handy to have access to a laundry, dinner at the hotel was great.
- Philip (10/5): - Great food and atmosphere in the pub very clean room terrific staff
- Judy (10/5): - The staff were so friendly, rooms very clean and recently renovated, sheets & towels good quality, drinks and food excellent, lovely dining area. Such a great place to stay on our way to Strahan. The owners have done a great job and the staff said how much they enjoy working there. The cooks/chef certainly know how to cook.
- Linda (10/5): - Room was good bed was comfortable, lovely hot shower.Nice and quiet ,lovely meal

- Edwin (10/5): - Great staff great location, could have better heating in the suite, it Snowed!!!
- Glenn (10/5): - Fisherman cabin was fantastic. Best bed we had slept in on a 3 week trip. Complimentary continental brekkie was excellent. Dining room had a great selection of food and was big servings.Did have shared bathroom but this didn’t detract from the overall experience. The staff was more than helpful.
- Ann (10/5): - Fabulous hospitality and facilities in this hotel along the way from Hobart to the north of Tassie. Room 9 was suitable for 2 couples or a family and had everything for self catering.
- Susan (8/5): - Quiet location, very clean and comfortable
- Helen (8/5): - We loved our room (Room 6) but were disappointed that we could hear conversations and the television quite clearly in the room next door (Room7) through a locked adjoining door.
- Michael (10/5): - The views
- Elizabeth (10/5): - The Fishing cabin room was nicely decorated and very comfortable. The shared bathrooms were just steps away through the lighted parking lot. The continental breakfast choices were just fine. We enjoyed our stay.

- Bruce (6/5): - Good place to stop to visit the Great Lakes. Easy to find and staff friendly and helpful.
Food was plentiful, fair quality.
I was surprised the Fisherman's Cabin had no water, otherwise the cabin was well supplied - toaster, kettle, cutlery, plates and bowls.
Comfortable bed with electric blanket was very welcome.

The rooms have been furnished really well, they provide great toiletry products and the in-room continental breakfast and tea/coffee products were very nice. The hotel restaurant offered nice food and was great value.
