- dianne (9/5): Lovely location and space especially being next to the Botanical gardens - Location and cabin comfortable The cutlery very poor quality
Curtains were filthy and need repair
Assumed that two people booked would share one bed - we had to adapt a sheet for second bed
Cabin is very dated and could do with some maintenance.
- Anto (1/5): Overall, this was a very bad experience, and we would not recommend this holiday park to anyone. - Our stay at Lakes and Craters Holiday Park was extremely disappointing and not worth the high price we paid.
The overall facility is poorly maintained, and the staff were neither friendly nor welcoming. We specifically requested early check-in between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm because we were travelling with children, and this request was approved in writing by the property owner via Booking.com. Despite this confirmation, when we arrived at 1:45 pm, we were told that early check-in was not allowed.
We were a group of three families and had booked three cabins. We used the self check-in machine and successfully collected one cabin key at 1:45 pm. However, Mr. Craig then insisted that we must pay for an additional day’s stay, claiming we had checked in 15 minutes early. He referred to the key vending machine’s terms and conditions, but no such early check-in terms were displayed on the machine screen. This was particularly frustrating given that early check-in had already been approved in writing, and we had made the request keeping our children’s needs in mind.
Mr. Craig also stated that he had not received the payment, even though the full amount was already paid via Booking.com. He then proceeded to blame Booking.com for the issue, which is clearly not the guest’s responsibility. We have booked many accommodations through Booking.com and have never experienced such an issue before. This caused unnecessary stress and confusion at check-in.
Despite all this, we were forced to wait until 2:00 pm to receive the keys for the remaining two cabins, which was inconvenient and unacceptable, especially when travelling with families and children.
The condition of the cabins was unacceptable. The rooms were not clean, there were bed bugs, and the children could hear rats moving around at night, which made the stay very uncomfortable and distressing. The sofas were extremely old, worn out, and should have been disposed of long ago.
We paid approximately $680 per cabin for two Our stay at Lakes and Craters Holiday Park was extremely disappointing and not worth the high price we paid.

We paid approximately $680 per cabin for two nights, which is far too expensive for the poor quality of accommodation and service provided. Overall, this was a very bad exp

- Anna (7/5): Good -
- Dominic (9/5): Superb -
- Kirsten (5/5): Passable -
- Kellie (5/5): Expensive - The views Not clean, bedside tables dusty, other peoples belongings under couch- cobwebs next to fridge, animals scratching in the roof all night. Couch material falling apart.
- Amber (8/5): Great family friendly park with lovely surrounding gardens and facilities - Beautiful park, quiet, friendly cleaning staff. 24 hr check in was easy.
Cabin much more spacious that expected, had everything we needed
Ammenities brand new and very usable Cabins exterior could do when with a paint
Nothing really
- Jing (9/5): Superb -
- Alex (6/5): - great view, had to supply own fry pan as cooking gear was not provided, and no cooking pots were provided
- Carolyn (8/5): - Great outlook over the crater lakes. Quiet, tranquil setting.
- Alysa (8/5): Great cabins which we literally only slept in as - The little cabins were clean and tidy, shower worked well, we didn’t use the cooking facilities. Had a view of the lake. The ladder to get up onto the bunk bed was murder on bare feet
- Fatima (5/5): Passable -
- Wayne (8/5): Great location, facilities were perfect, would definitely stay again - Great location and dealings with staff were great Our fault as booked in a rush for a funeral but a bit small
- Salisbury (5/5): Lovely town but overpriced accommodation. - Location As per previous surveys - cabin 6 TV reception is woeful.
Bunk bed matresses are uncomfortable - they bulge in the middle and leave your head at a strange angle.
The price!!!! $345 for one night - that's 5 star pricing for 2 star accomodation.
- Dylan (5/5): Passable -
- Kate (7/5): Good -
- Rachel (9/5): Superb -
- Troy (6/5): Nice park in a great location. - Great location. The park was well maintained unlike the cabin.
Beds where quiet comfortable. Cabin needs a lot of maintenance in multiple areas.
But I would definitely stay here agian in a different cabin.
- Tharanga (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dax (8/5): Very good -
- Timothy (7/5): Good - The place offers amazingly breathtaking scenic view especially during sunset. A good cheap spot to book if u wanna explore great Ocean road. Facility probably can be improved...had a light not working in the toilet.
- Chelsea (4/5): - No hot water, ants in the kitchen, beds very small and uncomfortable, very expensive for what it is
- Bosko (10/5): Exceptional -
- Honza (5/5): Passable -
- Ruth (7/5): Good -
- Jenny (9/5): Enjoyable stay apart from checking in. - Situation No staff had to deal with a machine
- harm (8/5): - Beautiful location
- Melissa (8/5): Super value for money, would definitely come back!! - Brilliant value for money
- Ricky (8/5): Very good -
- Diane (9/5): very relaxing. cabin was very comfortable - CABIN WAS VERY COMFY. LOVED THE PEACE AND QUIET everything was excellent
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional - The caravan park has a lovely location overlooking the lake and beside the botanic gardens. There were a lot of flies.
- Bradley (8/5): Very good -
- Nyarai (8/5): Not sure if price matched the quality - The bedding provided was clean. However the kitchen could have been a lot cleaner, fridge freezer was dirty, kitchen cutlery was very uncoordinated, it looked like 3 different sets were put together, extraction fan hood was dusty, kitchen blind had stained brown marks. Pots were of good quality though.
Bathroom was relatively clean. Frame under bunk beds had spider webs, although there were no insects in the cabin. The couch cushions were flat, looked overused and nit very pleasing to rest on, not sure if covers were washed eutger could dare to smell them. There was definitely a heavy woody odour in the cabin, it would have been nice to have a more pleasing welcoming smell/scent. There was a large clock in the living room which didn't work, not sure what the point was to have it. Plates, cups were decent quality and all appeared to be of the same set. Cooking utensils were good, a wide variety although a potato masher would have been good.
It just felt that the owner of the property made his investment a while ago and has not updated his furniture etc as time has moved on. They need to update some things named above and then they will catch up with what other cabins are now offering.
- Brett (10/5): We will be back loved it ! - fantastic location
cabin was spacious it was good all round
- Adele (5/5): Passable -
- Sylvia (8/5): quiet, comfortable and lovely location. - Location in bushland and next to botanic gardens with a view of the lake was excellent Car port for shaded car parking
- Valerie (7/5): Good -
- Kelly (1/5): Awful - It was awful. There was nothing we liked. the cabins are tiny, run down and dirty. The park is full of permanent caravans that are rusty and derelict. I didn’t feel safe having my kids run around with all the rusty caravans. It is a picturesque location that is ruined by all the awful caravans. The location is pretty, but a long way out of town with nothing within walking distance, so you have to drive everywhere if you want a coffee, food etc. The worst part is how over priced it is, it was $200 a night and we later found out we good have gotten a room at the beautiful Mill in town for the same price. Do not stay here. It is awful. Everything. The power kept cutting out, the air conditioning didn’t work, the cabins are tiny, dirty and uncomfortable. The park is full of derelict, rusty permanent caravans that are an eyesore. It is ridiculously overpriced for how awful it is.
- Tania (8/5): was great otherwise - area mosquitoes were bad we had buy fly spray and we left it there as I got bitten lots 🙈
- Kirsten (8/5): A pleasant place for camping - The bathrooms are very clean. The kitchen is equipped with the appliances we need.
- Julie (8/5): Very good -
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ab (5/5): overpriced - ok didn’t see any staff. had to ring for details
- Tomislav (7/5): Good -
- Jane (1/5): Beautiful location and unpleasant accommodation - Beautiful location and scenery Marks from water on the walls of our cabin, general appearance of being run down and dirty. internal door couldn’t shut due to warping. Nasty mark on kitchen laminate. second bed in cabin wasn’t made.
- Steve (9/5): Very clean and neat. - Very clean amenities. Ease of check in. Location excellent. Nothing.
- Kat (8/5): Very good - location, peace, atmosphere had to make up three beds ourselves
- Felicity (2/5): Very poor - The location was ok. The cabin. Way to expensive for the cabin we got compared to our friends who paid the same price for a cabin which was lovely. Feel very ripped off. The smell was very musty too.
- Iris (8/5): close to golf club event - great view out of cabin window self check in - it did work once I had read the many instructions but it would have been nice to talk to someone
- Huajun (10/5): Good stay for a family trip. - Good location, and beautiful views. The facilities are excellent and clean. The staff is friendly. The room is suitable for a family and the beds are clean and comfortable. The price is a little bit high. The LED TV is kind of old and small. Room sound isolation is poor.
- Shanice (2/5): room stinky and bed ever hard - first day there cabin smelt like the sewer and staff only have us a spray
- Thomas (8/5): Very good - We had a great stay. The rooms were very clean and tidy, and everything was in working order. Staff were very friendly, and it was a great location! The size of the rooms was a bit cramped, but obviously this is restricted by being just a cabin.
- Anita (10/5): - What a delightful surprise, both the property and surrounding area of Camperdown. I chose the larger cabin for a short stay. Amenities, cleanliness, and layout of accommodation were tops. Learnt about the connection in the area to Robert Burns, including an annual Burns Festival. Note: park is not within walking distance to town or shops. Note: park is surrounded by views and natural features. Looking forward to staying again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The views are amazing and the park is always well maintained
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful location. Great cabin. Only downside was the difficulty in communication with the managers. No onsite access, which made it hard to sort out issues with WiFi.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Serious attention needed for cleanliness and communication.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Enjoyed the holiday park. Was great with little ones with the playground and gardens at the rear. The actual cabin was great and a perfect set up for us.
Couldn't check in after hours using the automated kiosk but phoned the after hours number and was helped immediately....which was great.
The cleanliness was a little questionable.
- Crockery and Cutlery was dirty and needed washing before use.
- Under the couches were filthy (my son dropped a toy that went under)
-
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I like the property, beautiful place. Unfortunately, i think there is a breakage of communication. I've paid on expedia and was asked to pay again at lakes before I get the key. Now I have to contact expedia to get my money back.
- Damien (10/5): Work trip. Would come back again to relax & enjoy - Was here for work on one of the coldest days in a long time. So many good views and things to check out, but I'll have to wait for next time as my time was limited (and Cold)
Heaters and electric blanket worked very well.
Nice self ocntained cabin with ecerything you need.
Very easy self check in and great comunication prior to arival to make it all very smooth.
- Steven (8/5): FISHING TRIP - NOT MUCH IN THE PARK BUT ITS NICE TIDY GREAT VIEWS
- Colin (8/5): Lakes and Craters Holiday Park Camperdown - Excellent views of the crater lake, right beside the botanical gardens and a very quiet location well away from the main highway. If you need access to the town for supplies or meals you'll need to drive. It trip up to nearby Mt Leura is definitely worth the effort. Check in system was a bit clunky, took several goes before the Automated Kiosk actually recognised me attempting to check in.
Ensuite was rather small and may challenge people with limited mobility
- Peter (8/5): Nice little place - It was a short stay, but the view was lovely, the cabin was good (for a cabin)
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable, Affordable Cabins with an amazing vie - The owners of this place are wonderfully friendly, helpful and welcoming. The cabins themselves are comfortable, if a little basic - but the location, the view and the service are 5 star! I stay here often when my work brings me to Western Victoria, and I would never consider staying anywhere else.
- Jennie (8/5): Gorgeous location, comfortable cabin - This caravan park is in a beautiful, quiet spot high above the township and next to two crater lakes and a small, old botanic garden. There are panoramic views to regional volcanic features from the end of the park. The cabin was clean and comfortable and had lots of kitchen utensils and extras such as an iron. The gate is locked dawn to dusk, although I think residents can get an entry password. There are some on-site phone towers.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Well kept park. The cabin we stayed in was lovely - Lovely cabin ,lovely park , lovely staff.
Tad pricey when you pay for 2 extra (the kids) and have to pay for linen for those 2 or bring your own.
- Chook (8/5): A must for Extinct Volcano enthusiats! - We were pleasantly surprised on how good the onsite units were!
Much easier than towing the van around!
- Carmen (6/5): Family time - Great family location, lots of healthy outdoor things to do with family and the family dog.
