Guest Reviews
- Aaron (10/5): - The property was a unique cabin with a great little kitchen, nice bathroom, and a very comfortable stay.
- David (10/5): - Welcomed by a ripper of a bloke Paki from New Zealand. Made us feel more than welcome. The property was fine for us and I had no problems with it however on the down side you need to be fit to climb the hill to the cabin unless you use your car all the time. The setting was perfect nestled into the hillside with a caravan park either side. A river runs close by and the ocean can be heard easily. You are surrounded by gum trees so nature on your door step.
- Narges (10/5): Loved our experience - Great experience. Amazing staff and great hospitality. Great location and the cottages were amazing
- Vida (10/5): - Great cosy cottage with awesome location and view. Loved the privacy and balcony.
- Jacalyn (10/5): - Feels like you're un the bush but so close to amenities
- Flynn (10/5): - Had a great trip, accommodation was perfect. Clean, spacious, modern with quiet nature surrounds.
- Meegan (10/5): - Loved it so much will be back for sure.
- Dean (10/5): - Our kids loved that we stayed in a 'tree house'! The loft was also a big winner.
- Kirsty (10/5): - My first stay in an eco tent, and it could not have been happier or more comfortable in its simple, no-fuss way. The view over the valley and birdlife provided constant pleasure, added to in the early evening by kangaroos nd the bush track below. A true retreat.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My partner and I stayed at the cottages and had the best time! The location is in a perfect spot, literally walking distance to the main part of Lorne and close to everything you need. The cottages themselves are also so nice, very clean and well equipped. The general manager (paki) is also the biggest legend and made the stay so easy for us. Would definitely reccomend and we will be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My friends and I loved our stay at the cottages! Paki was super friendly and helpful, our cottage was cute and it felt like we were on a treetop escape! Such a great location too, parked the car then could walk everywhere!
- Amelia (10/5): - Beautiful gardens and outlook, really quiet and private. The cottages are willing distance to the town and beach and have everything you could need for a relaxing stay. We'll absolutely be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place, will be back... enjoyed everything about it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): So much character! - Fantastic cabin and awesome location - quick walk into town. Really comfy beds and the mezzanine was fun for the kids. Paki and the team were lovely - friendly, helpful and so very welcoming. Definitely need a return visit here!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Was a great location, awesome staff and extremely accommodating. Will definitely go back!
- SA (8/5): - Location, staff, access all good
Need more attention to cleaning
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property is located within a walking distance to all that Lorne has to offer. A quick drive will get you to experience some amazing walks, ending with refreshing splashes of waterfalls bouncing of your face.
- Jess (10/5): - The property was very clean and cosy. Bed was comfortable and amenities provided. Staff are friendly and welcoming
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The garden/bush setting of Great Ocean Road Cottages makes it feel like it is further away from the town that it really is. Mostly we could hear birds rather than cars or people. It was very peaceful. But it is only a few minutes walk to the main supermarket and 5-10 minutes to the beach and main shopping/restaurant area.
My only caveat is that a couple of the beds in the family cottages are on a mezzanine level with steep stairs, which would not be suitable for everyone. If you only plan to use the downstairs double bed this will not be an issue.
- Luis (10/5): - By far the best hospitality that I have ever recieved. The general manager was incredibly accommodating and very much cared about our experience. After talking for a few minutes, he gave my wife and I a bottle of wine.
Place is very cute, cozy. Heaters worked great, no issues with wifi, hot water was plentiful
- Therese (10/5): - Very clean easy to find close to most things. Staff were amazing
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely peaceful surrounds and very helpful staff. There was even a resident koala. Nice walk to town too
- Gary (10/5): Relaxing - The experience was excellent over apart from walking into room that smelt like curry due to microwave not being cleaned. To their credit this was rectified promptly and the rest of the stay very enjoyable, staff helpful, room comfortable and surrounds peaceful and relaxing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Picturesque location - Great scenery and the sulphur crested cockatoos are fantastic. The cabins are great and comfy too.
- Leah (10/5): nice location and affordable - Close to everything, lovely views. The tv reception is terrible however and the split system heating unit was very noisy!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable cottages close to town - Whilst the cottages are within walking distance to the township and beach, the location had a real bush setting. Kookaburras, cockatoos and even a koala! Great location!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful hotel close to everything!!! - Nice and close to shops, beach and supermarket is just a couple of minute walk down the road. Beautiful spot in the trees, cockatoos are very friendly. Only negative things I could say is that it is parking isn't the best but other than that o highly recommend! !!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location, nice environment, cosy cottages and very equipped cottages.
- Stuart (10/5): - very comfortable
- Linda (10/5): Everything We Needed - Stayed for the weekend with a 4 and 5 year old. Kids loved the mezzanine bedroom and had no problem getting up and down the steps. We had the family cottage number 1, (which had the wooden steps and a rail instead of ladder) Room was clean and cosy, the views were beautiful as was the birds who greeted us on the balcony (please don't be tempted to feed them) I loved all the windows, everyone had a lush green garden and bush view. The location was ideal, we walked to shops and the beach and handy supermarket right nextdoor. The only thing that dissapointed us was the bque facility's or lack of. We brought meat and salads to cook for our Saturday night dinner only to find a rusty, dirty bque and an empty gas bottle attached. It was too late to go find somewhere else to cook and we were starving so we had to go out for dinner down at the Italian resturant (which I dont recomend due to its very limited menu) Overall I would stay again, the road trip into the Otways and Beech forest waterfalls was our highlight! Erskine is nice but I highly recomend delving in further if u have the time.
- Dermot (10/5): Great place to stay - Lovely little getaway for me and my wife. Hidden away and quiet for a romantic getaway
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to town and no particular ocean views, but terrific anyway. We liked the layout of the cottage, the bed was very comfy, the owners helpful and friendly. There are beautiful gardens and lots of native birds. We thought the value for money was excellent and would definitely recommend these cottages, especially for stays of a few days or longer.
- Kathryn (10/5): Quite and peaceful - I was here on a business trip and would recommend this charming villa to anyone, clean comfortable and quite, everything you would need for a lovely stay.
Spotless and very comfortable bed.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Tree tops in Lorne - Gorgeous location, no frills accommodation but great value.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The lady who greeted us was so friendly and welcomed any questions or queries. She gave us great sight seeing suggestions too.
- Robert (8/5): Great cottage, wonderful setting - Cottage had sweeping views across to the ocean, was roomy inside and provided a great place to enjoy the beauty of Lorne. Although our stay was wet and wintry the cottage allowed us to be warm inside and enjoy the views and wildlife that came up to the verandah.
- Davee and Elisa (10/5): It was relaxing and amazing - We absolutely loved staying there it was amazing, being among the trees and nature , being visited by cookaburras, parrots and cockatoos made it an experience to remember , in a warm cosy cottage, definitely go back again.
Perfect location, hidden away yet close to everything in town.
Thank-you.
- Yolande (8/5): Relaxing - We were greeted with a friendly and helpful Manager. Our room was ready to go with heater on which was lovely. We had a great spot. We had trouble with our TV and I wanted to watch a particular show so to my delight we were allowed to use another room to watch this show. To me this shows great customer service. Thank you so much for making our stay great!
- Maddie (4/5): Good location - The location was great and scenery superb, but unfortunately the bed was horribly uncomfortable, and the couch also. Great for price however.
- Visiting runner (8/5): Hidden Corner - We enjoyed the natural surroundings, greenery, bird calls, clear starry nights and the overall peace & quiet.
Plenty of room for a family.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly check-in. Good rates. Clean and quiet. Central location.
- Collin (8/5): Great spot - Excellent little cottage. Just a couple of minutes walk to the shops and restaurants and the beach.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful setting - The setting was beautiful, the cottages are comfortable and close to everything.
- David (8/5): Great old world atmosphere in beautiful setting - Definitely not luxury but great basic accommodation that captures the atmosphere of natural beauty that Lorne is famous for. Clean and well kept, with friendly helpful staff. Perfect getaway without all the modern frills!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice - Awesome little cabbin for the weekend definite recommend and will be back in the near future
- Connie (8/5): Great location, close to beach & cafes - Location of Cottages were perfect, we left our car & walked to shops & cafes.
Bed was comfy, cottage had everything we needed & our daughter loved the steep stairs to top level .
- Georgie (6/5): Lovely, quiet surrounds - Comfortable bed, nice linen and towels. Cottages could do with renovation, especially bathroom and kitchen areas. Our cottage was overlooking roofs of other cottages that needed cleaning. Very cheerful and polite staff.
- Eve and Chris (10/5): Close to everything. - Very very relaxing the accommodation was excellent. Very clean quite and functional even though the space was not large...highly recommend this property.
- Lyndal (10/5): Relaxing stay - Stayed for a weekend. Lovely views, lovely staff and a beautiful and comfortable cabin. Would stay again!!
- Darren (4/5): Quite dated - Reasonable walk to beach, accomodation very dated, noisy at night given the appartments back onto the caravan park. Staff friendly.
- sandie (6/5): Beautiful surrounds, central location - Cockatoos and parrots on our balcony in tranquil bush setting had my children (and us) enthralled. Minutes walk from the supermarket, shops, beach and visitor information centre. Friendly staff and warm welcome. A note to parents of young children - the upstairs attic bedroom is accessed by ladder. My five year old couldn't climb it right to the top and even I was not keen on climbing backwards down it from such a height. We ended up with kids sleeping downstairs in the main bedroom. Shower pressure not great and the room was full of cobwebs (behind and under beds). Only one two seater couch with limited space inside the cottage. But a lovely stay in a beautiful location - and not much need to be inside in such a beautiful part of the world.
- William (10/5): Close to supermarket and beach, private locations - Excellent stay, thanks
- Verified traveler (8/5): A charming little cottage high in the trees - Lovely stay at Lorne's Great Ocean Road Cottages. Beautiful views of treetops, bushland and ocean. Close to shops, beach and supermarket. Enjoyed our stay, kids loved the mezzanine bed room with ladder access. Tidy and clean but could do with a refresh paint.
- Eric (8/5): Easy to find and convenient to shopping. - We enjoyed all the conveniences of home in the well equipped kitchen. For us, the view of the ocean was obscured by the roof of the next cottage, but it was nice to be up high. The climb up the 15 steps to the room from the parking spot seemed a bit daunting with our luggage, but at other times it wasn't a problem. We enjoyed the king parrots and the sulfur crested cockatoos up close and personal. The gardens around the reception area were exceptional and the owner gave us some good tips on local birds. The free WiFi was great even though one had to sit by the reception area to get a good signal. Overall a very pleasant stay.
- Bells (8/5): - Clean room ready on arrival. Nice quiet area to relax in. Would recommend to others and would stay again
- JH (10/5): Friendly helpful staff - Beautiful setting, birds come right to your balcony. Sarah was so welcoming and helpful. Convenient location, close to supermarket, beach and town. Would stay here again.
- Chris and Tony (10/5): Great Location - A lovely cottage (cottage 5), quiet and very clean. A beautiful setting so close to everything Lorne has to offer.
- El (10/5): Top spot!! - Fantastic location. Everything we needed and real value for money. The room was clean and tidy, great wildlife to see. The only thing that I would have to mention is that the bed may need to be upgraded! Apart from that really satisfied with Grean Ocean Road cottages. Would recommend to anyone who is in need of a nice relaxing break.
- Jayson (10/5): Excellent Choice. - What a beautiful place.
Walking distance to everything we needed. Private, cosy and relaxing time away.
Will absolutely have a return visit.
- Karen (10/5): School holiday break - So close to the main street and supermarket. Lovely bush setting. Beautiful gardens. Great communication Sarah. Friendly helpful staff.
- Sue (10/5): So much better than a motel room! - These individual cottages are situated in a lovely bushland and garden setting. The cottages have heaps of character and are very comfortable. If we had visited when our three boys were kids they would have LOVED the loft bedroom. Breakfast on the front verandah with the locals - king parrots and cockatoos - was a highlight. The town centre and beach is very close. There are also lots of beautiful waterfalls in the area to visit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): AAAHHH - This was a lovely place to stay with a spectacular view and very clean accommodation. The kids loved the shower and the loft. Staff were extra helpful and we could've moved in!!!! Excellent!
- Beatrice (10/5): Amazing view, cheap, spacious and lovely staff! - Lovely staff, spacious private cottage, clean and modern. Pretty cheap for a cottage that size, with parking right next to it. The balcony was great for a breakfast with a view of the ocean (we were at one of the highest cottage on the hill). Plenty of room for a little group or family.
- Alison (8/5): Quirky stay in Lorne - Just stayed overnight and it was a really different place to stay. The cottage looked a bit tired and could do with modernising, but it was quirky and suited our needs for the night. The stairs up to the mezzanine are very steep so beware if you have young children, but they made the place memorable.
Everything was clean, which was the main thing for us and the lady on site was very knowledgeable and friendly.
There are cockatoos that swoop down on your balcony and you are asked not to feed them as they may become a nuisance.
We had a parking space next to the cottage but the site is steep and you may have to park and walk uphill, but ask the staff and they will accommodate you.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - First stop on Great Ocean Road, couldn't have been better. Well equipped cottage, very cosy.
- n (8/5): - A lovely stay. Everything was clean and functional. Staff very helpful. Only down side was small shower (but I am over 6ft tall) with low water pressure.
- Emily and Rob (10/5): Lovely cabin! - We had a fantastic stay here! The staff were lovely, the cabin was clean and well-equipped with everything needed and it felt like a relaxing oasis. Would definitely come back!
- Rowyn (8/5): Easy walking to town and beach. - Lovely quiet setting. Loved the variety of birds that landed on our balcony. Helpful, friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again
- Wei (10/5): Lovely hotel in nice place - Great ocean road cottage is located near Lorne beach with nice facilities and good service. Hotel stuffs, a very kind couple, told us to see kangaroos on the hill, we did found two. My car could not flamed at morning, the stuff, a grace lady asked her husband to come to help me. It is really a nice hotel ang very good person! I wish to come back again.
- Greg (10/5): Lovely bush setting - Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, booked an extra night because we did not want to leave.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cabin nestled among beautiful vegetation. - Wonderful natives and landscape surround the private cabin. This is our second stay and will be sure to return again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect. Absolutely stunning setting, private, cosy, and wildlife everywhere
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Comfortable but small
For two people this was fine but not suitable for a family
I was disappointed that the ' cottages' are in fact a good quality caravan park setting and I would not consider them to be in bushland
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quick Lorne getaway - Great for a couple of nights. Kids loved the mezzanine room and having all the birds visit in the morning. Room was lovely and warm when we arrived. Highly recommend for a short getaway, especially in colder months.
- Lisa (8/5): Great location - Cosy little cottage. Kids loved the loft. Beds a little too firm though. Couch too small for a family of four, especially on rainy days. Nice and close to main street. Easy walk into town. Clean, warm and surprisingly spacious. Had a great 2 nights.
- tom (10/5): Gorgeous - Fabulous stay. Very scenic, great bird life and so cosy.
- Becka (10/5): Lovely Relaxing Top Spot - You should go out on the balcony and hand feed the birds.
Very relaxing. Staff very welcoming. Excellent condition of the unit. Great location. Comfortable bed. Dark curtains. Heater works great. Everything you need for short or long stay. Will return - definately
- Verified traveler (8/5): Easy distance from Lorne - Helpful, friendly hosts. Loved the daily visit from the cockatoos to our veranda every morning. Good distance from Lorne - able to walk to lovely restaurants and beach near by.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly. The proprietor even chased after me in the rain to provide me with an umbrella! Comfortable and quiet. Easy walk into town. Great stay. I wish it had been longer!
- Chris (8/5): Nice little cottage - Great little cottage with a good view of the beach, nice & secluded with only a 5 minute walk to the main strip & 10 minutes to the beach
- jack (10/5): Very relaxing atmosphere - Great place close to everything and most of all relaxing
- Shaun (8/5): Good location - Decent rates if you are a few people travelling together. Staff was not so friendly but overall experience was decent
