Guest Reviews
- Angelique (8/5): - Gorgeous view, great location! It gets a little smoky indoors from the fireplace but I imagine it just needs a clean of the chimney
- Jess (10/5): Absolute heaven! - Everything was perfect - from the pre-arrival communication, to the location and views, to everything we needed in the cabin!
- sam (10/5): Comfortable , scenic - Location wildlife
- Janine (6/5): Pleasant but overpriced. - Very convenient. Well equipped. Emus and kangeroos. For this price we would have expected a proper coffee machine. All other accommodation has this these days. Also the view is not as good as we had been led to believe. There is a huge bare paddock in front of the property and it would have been good to see some more vegetation nearby.
- Mirko (9/5): Excellent and comfortable - Clean, comfortable and quiet Nothing
- Simphreys (9/5): - Quiet, isolated, easy to get keys, good communication from owner, great facilities, had everything we needed and some bonus features The bed was very hard and there were a lot of bugs.

- Barry (10/5): - Beautiful location, nice and secluded however close to Pomonal and Halls Gap. Great facilities and the view was amazing. A very relaxing location, highly recommended.
- Liam (9/5): Relaxing weekend away! - Great location looking out into the paddock full of wild life and into the mountains. Accommodation is nice and spacious with everything you need for a relaxing weekend away. A very private space that is only a short drive into Halls Gap. Would definitely stay again The bed was a bit hard
- Charleen (9/5): We loved the place -
- Tania (5/5): Nice place....but, - I think the cabin was nice and spacious and everything was clean. it was quiet and being able to sit outside and view the kangaroos. It would have been good if the bed had a rug under it as it moves around and it would've been nice to step onto, instead of a tiled floor. There also wasn't shampoo and conditioner as stated in the facilities. The TV couldn't get all channels, only SBS & ABC, that was a disappointment.
- Sean (10/5): Exceptional -
- Beata (9/5): A wonderful stay in beautiful surrounding, quiet with nature right on the doorstep, kangaroos, deer. - The villa is set in a peaceful surrounding, well equipped, comfortable, spacious place and perfect for a break. The owner of the property very friendly and welcoming by the way her gallery must see, beautiful paintings. We stayed 4 nights and definitely will be back. Thank you Leanne. Just one thing the microwave and bbq need little more cleaning.
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Geoff (7/5): Good -
- Stuart (7/5): Good - Location was great , lovely property and clean rooms Coffee machine did not work , no soap or body wash .
- Kate (9/5): Superb - The only thing we can suggest is either a mattress topper for the bed or a new soft mattress altogether. Very hard to sleep on and did wake up with sore backs. Other then that everything was perfect 👌 👍
- Shohini (9/5): Superb -
- Tania (10/5): Amazing. relaxing stay with great views and fireplace. - The privacy of this property is great. A quiet, well equipped property. We loved watching the wildlife from the windows with the fire going. The footed freestanding bath was so nice to soak in with the fire going. It was our second time staying as we enjoyed our first visit last year so much. I think we will be back again. There is no Wifi and very little phone reception, disconnecting from social media, etc, takes some getting used to, but watching the kangaroos, Deer, bunnies and birds make up for it. Great views! No Wifi
- Tracey (10/5): A relaxing and comfortable stay - I liked that it felt secluded. It was cosy, comfortable and had all that one could want. The views were remarkable. Having to leave.
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- Stephen (10/5): A beautiful time at this quiet retreat. - The serenity of this property about ten minutes out of Halls Gap was sublime.
Beautiful fire place, excellent bed, bath and kitchen.
Had a relaxing time writing.
Thank you.
- Katy (9/5): A great quiet and peaceful place. Definitely recommend - Great location and facilities Due to the price paying, you would expect that guests don’t have to dispose of their own rubbish.
- Anthony (8/5): Enjoyable - Clean and tidy had everything you need The internet wouldn’t work inside and couldn’t access Netflix ect
- Cassandra (9/5): Superb -

- Kirsty (9/5): Would highly recommend this property for anyone visiting the Grampians. It was so peaceful and all the facilities you wo - Peaceful and stunning location. All facilities required for your stay. Fully stocked kitchen with appliances/plates/bowls/cutlery etc. Great shower and property feels very spacious. Bed wasn’t very comfortable but we wouldn’t let that deter us from booking again.
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jordan (10/5): No regrets. This was our best stay ever. - The location, and the views. Everything was so magical. Wild animals can be seen from your bed. It was like living a dream.
- Vanessa (10/5): I could of stayed forever. - What a beautiful place to relax and unwind. So quiet and peaceful to just sit and admire the beautiful view and scenery. Nothing.
- Birein (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gavin (9/5): We had a great stay, close to Halls Gap and all the sightseeing places. - Loved the location, very quiet with kangaroos and birds visiting everyday. The bath at the end of the bed looked spectacular but wasn't very practical although we did use it just because it was there. I found the bed a little too firm and, although I understand there is not great service out there I would have liked Wi-Fi.
- Sarah (10/5): We had the best stay, in such a beautiful and quiet location. Will definitely be back! -
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cathy (9/5): Superb - This property was set in a beautiful country location We had a bit of difficulty finding the villa - some lights on and more clearly marked villa number may help :)
- Stefan (10/5): Excellent and awesome - Serendipity One or two more proper wine glasses
- Camille (8/5): Incredible views -
- Ian (8/5): Very good - The view, animals, size of the villa were all excellent. We had a great time hope to return again.
- Sam (10/5): Totally loved it the accomodation and the Grampians I will definitely go back at some point. - The location tucked away from every one else, loved the peace and quiet and the views modern and spacious. There was nothing for me not to dislike.
- Betts (9/5): Superb - location ,serenity the crow acting as an alarm clock pecking the window each morning
- Craig (8/5): Very good -
- Anita (9/5): Superb -
- Tania (10/5): Beautiful place to stay - Stunning views and plenty of wild life. The bath was a treat. We enjoyed the wood fire. No wifi or phone reception
- Tim (9/5): Very enjoyable - Quiet and peaceful No reception or wifi
- Kelly (9/5): Bliss - Absolutely serene aspect, woke up to emus grazing the plains and views from the bed out three sides Could have been better coffee rather than coffee bags
- Edward (9/5): Superb -
- Amelia (8/5): Great apart from loud fridge, 4/5. - Beautiful location, quite private and very nice facilities and room. We were very comfortable. The fridge was so loud!! It made so much noise we had to turn it off at one point.
- Miriam (9/5): Superb - what a location - overlooking open paddocks, with the background being the Grampian ranges! Every day in front of our glass doors there were kangaroos, emus and deer wandering around. And there were Blue Wrens! It was a short drive into town and to the hiking trails. The chalet itself had all you need, and the bath was the highlight. We lit the open fire and I was in the bath looking out at the scenery - divine Unfortunately there was no telephone reception. We knew there was no wifi and did not mind that really, but we could not even make calls/send texts. For the wifi you had to drive down the road
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional - The location was stunning and the accomodation had everything we needed. There was very minimal reception at the location which is something we actually enjoyed as we could switch off :). We particularly loved the free standing bath!
- Sarah (10/5): A beautiful peaceful retreat. Has everything you need for a comfortable relaxing break/holiday. Has so much to offer - A beautiful peaceful retreat, with the most beautiful views. We loved watching the kangaroos in the morning and evenings, plus other wildlife. Nothing to Dislike
- Vineet (10/5): Beautiful location, very private and comfortable accommodation. Will stay agin happily - Beautiful location, very peaceful and quiet. Very comfortable cabin. Little to no internet connectivity even for emergencies.
- Wendy (8/5): Grampians visit - Modern well set out cabin very well equipped for a self-contained stay. Very quiet and isolated with plenty of wildlife. The bath was lovely to soak in after long hikes. Having a BBQ and laundry facilities was a bonus. The bed was too hard for us and caused poor sleep, even the pillows were too firm or too flat. No wifi and poor internet connection. Too far from Halls Gap to cycle or walk, car needed.
- JAScholten (10/5): Fabulous - We stayed for 3 nights over here and we wished we could have stayed longer.
The house is really private and each morning and evening (dusk and dawn) there were a lot of kangaroos, rabbits and deer in front of our house, we loved this.
The retreat itself is really nice. It is spacious, clean and has all the amenities you need (washing machine, dryer, dishwasher etc.)
The terrace in front of the house is great and we loved sitting here watching the wildlife.
If you want to visit or dine in Halls gap you need a car, it isn't doable by foot, but this didn't bother us.
We also got an complimentary wine, which was really appreciated.
I you visit the grampians (and you should because this is one of the gems of southern australia) we recommend to stay over here you won't regret it.
- Courtney (10/5): everything you want and everything you need! - absolutely stunning views! slept with the blinds open and woke up to a gorgeous sunrise over the hills with kangaroos and other wildlife wandering around. nothing!
- Justin (9/5): Superb -
- Aidan (8/5): Very good -
- Lachlan (8/5): Very good -
- Nick (9/5): A Great Find - Our stay over New Years was great. Amazing views, super private and quiet. Only thing that would be great is better tv reception, and wifi connectivity.( although walking across the paddock to a " Hot Spot" was novel).
We loved the room . We look forward to returning in Winter to use the Fire Poor TV reception and wifi
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jasreet (8/5): Very good -
- Cevii (9/5): Was a surprise and much needed break for us. - Some internet access would be good.
- Ashlee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Grantley (10/5): Relax with wildlife - Located out of Halls Gap with kangaroos and deer located directly in front of villa. Good heating options with fire and split system aircon. Pillows need replacing but otherwise all good.
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - What a fanatic retreat, very clean, comfortable and remote. Loved the wild life, relaxing by the fire. Would highly recommend for a quiet relaxing break.
- Sue (9/5): tranquility in a beautiful setting - peaceful and quiet - just outside Halls Gap and easy to get to everything - walking, winery, cafes etc. if privacy is what you like this is perfect. love the fact that kangaroos, emus and echidnas are wandering through the back garden! the wifi/ reception is very intermittent making phone calls and looking for walks, restaurant opening hours tricky.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Meegan (9/5): Superb -
- Reg (10/5): A wonderful place to stay - The place was spotless, a great wood fired heater, great kitchen facilities, hot strong shower, very comfortable. Nothing
- Al (10/5): Exceptional - Secluded stay, exactly what was needed…quiet time. Absolutely divine location.
- Muhamed (10/5): It was beautiful and calm, I wish that I could have stayed longer. - The location where the villa was built looking out into the field was calming and serene. The villa itself was great and contained everything we needed for a short stay. Most likely next time I would like to stay longer. Unfortunately, I cannot provide any criticism for any improvements to the villa. As our stay was too short of using every feature within the villa. Next time when we decide to stay longer, we might find a thing or two that might need improvements.
- Hayden (8/5): It was a very comfortable stay and thoroughly enjoyable. - The bath was a cool feature as well as the TV to watch movies. Didn't encounter really any issues on the property.
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Emily (7/5): Good -
- KimG01 (10/5): Wildlife, views & extreme comfort - This place is exceptional. Beautiful large villas extremely well set out & great facilities; wood fire, king sized bed, bath in the lounge, kitchenette, BBQ, amazing views with an abundance of wildlife, echidna on arrival, kangaroos, emus, deer & so many beautiful birds. It’s a great place to wind down & relax. Absolute pleasure to stay here!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Stunning scenery, peaceful, clean & the little extras made our stay memorable & very relaxing.
- 410richb (10/5): Wonderful stay - Just returned from a fabulous 3 night stay at Blaze Rock Retreat. Very secluded and quiet and just what we were after in a city getaway. Ample wood provided to keep the wood burner going to keep us warm during the cold days and nights in winter. Also a split system air conditioner for those not keen on fires or for cooling in the summer. It's an easy drive into Halls Gap for supplies, morning coffee's and to enjoy the lovely walks and sight seeing nearby. We enjoyed sunny afternoon sunsets on the side deck while watching kangaroos and wild emus graving in the paddock, then spectacular star gazing at night. The unit has everything you need for a self contained stay. We cooked 2 evenings and enjoyed a very tasty Indian take away from Halls Gap the other. Limited phone coverage and no wifi was a nice change to disconnect, but still enough coverage to get the odd message or email out if you so wished. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice romantic weekend getaway. We'd certainly return and recommend to friends and family. Leanne the host was very easy to deal with and let us extend our stay with a days notice. Several wineries and other farm shops nearby which made for nice stop offs. We thoroughly enjoyed the drive back to Melbourne via Dunkeld and the Victoria Valley road detour - would highly recommend this if you have time and looking for a secluded country drive where you literally won't see another car for miles! We didn't use the TV/DVD player but there was a range of DVDs to watch. We brought our own speaker with pre-downloaded Spotify music but there was an older style CD player there that you could play your CDs on if you still own a CD! We had a great stay, so relaxing!
- Steven (10/5): - Great retreat in a stunning location, with kangaroos and emus at your doorstep. No wifi and limited mobile reception was great as you can really disconnect. Minor downsides were the TV being hard to work but overall I highly recommend Blaze Rock.
- jandghubbard (10/5): glorious views and a luxury feel - We had four winter nights in this really lovely spot. Yes, its out of Halls Gap but the privacy and quietness is delicious. The interesting buildings are so well designed and cosy, with everything needed for a self catered experience. The claw foot bath was a joy, and the kitchen worked well. It's chilly in winter but the wood fire and heating was great. Wifi was a walk to the front gate, but that walk included the owners beautiful bush garden, with a huge variety of natives, so wasn't a burden at all. A bottle of red on arrival, and lovely decor touches made this a really special stay. And there were plenty of flowers in the bush too! Great walks a plenty.
- Terry&Sue (8/5): - Hard bed All the kangaroos and deer were interesting
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing... Amazing view. Its really quiet place. The kangaroo, deers roaming around during the day are so lovely to look at. Then we have the stars at night. It takes your breath away.
- 633hildal (10/5): Great Escape - We had a wonderful two days stay at this little paradise in nature. Watching a colony of kangaroos in the morning and the evening and enjoying the landscape in the bathtub after a good hiking tour. The hosts ver very friendly when a question occurred. Thank you so much!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was secluded, which is what I wanted. The knives needed replacing, and the pillows were lumpy. The shower was excellent. The wildlife was beautiful - deers, emus, kangas and birds. I did not think it was worth the price though, especially as I was there during non peak season. There was no much shade around, which I understand due to potential bush fire threat, but some shade around the accommodation would be good. Also, I wanted to be close to the walking tracks near the Grampians, it was not a 1 min walk to the tracks as advertised online. It was a 10+min drive into Halls Gap to get to the tracks.
- CindyN811 (10/5): Peaceful and relaxing - With only 2 villas on the property, this retreat is for couples only. Very private and tranquil with deer, kangaroos, emus, rabbits, blue wrens and rosellas in abundance grazing the property. So beautiful to sit up in bed watching the wildlife. A clawfoot bath is central to the room and relaxing in the bath with the views was just idyllic. There is no phone reception on the property so was lovely to be out of touch for the few days we were there. Very well set up villa, clean and very spacious. The complimentary local wine went down well and was an added bonus. Only 7kms from Halls Gap, it was absolutely beautiful and all we wanted in a romantic weekend getaway.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Having our own private sanctuary, beautiful veiws of the grampians and so much wildlife. Immaculate conditions of the property
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic place with amazing views , extremely relaxing.
- EdyandTheresa (10/5): Symply amazing - We had a 2 night getaway at blaze rock retreat and i can say this place is amazing, fantastic views ,pleanty of wildlife on the property, extremely clean and very well maintained, this place is highly recommended ,
- michaelwH8701FH (10/5): What a way to begin our holiday! - What can I say which others haven't already - the location, aspect, privacy, quality of the amenities... Everything about this retreat was perfect for us to begin our holiday. It was such a pleasure to sit on the balcony eating cheese and drinking wine, watching the kangaroos, birds and deer grazing in the fields. The hosts being so courteous and generous only topped off a wonderful stay.
- MimM_12 (10/5): 2 day retreat - Beautiful, relaxing and well appointed retreat, ideal for us looking for a quiet kid free getaway. Surrounded by bush, kangaroos, birds and a lonely deer on one occasion. We had all the comforts you could ask for, fully equipped kitchen, cooling, comfortable bed and lounge with a claw foot bath in the middle of the room, very quirky and works well. Had a BBQ dinner on both nights on the webber provided, which was great after a long day out sight seeing. We would definitely come back again.
Thank you Mim & John
- 678KarenB (8/5): Quiet and relaxing - The location is great - very quiet and the wildlife amazing. The property had all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay including a wood fire and good size fridge.
The only down side was the general feeling of the place being tired. There were marks (dents and deep scratches) over all of the walls and the floor just didn't look completely clean because of the grout. A number of lights weren't working which made cooking on the BBQ difficult, however, the owners were prompt in addressing the issue the next morning.
- protowilson (10/5): A relaxing time in the country - Stayed here while we did the Silo Art Trail. Lovely location - quiet and the wildlife easy to spot. The slow-burner/wood-heater was perfect for the cold weather, and the bath in the middle of the room gratefully used. Bed super comfortable and with electric blanket!
- Nicki (10/5): Home away from home! - Words cannot express the beautiful vista that Blaze Rocks looks out over. Every morning we awoke to Kangaroos grazing and Emu's roaming. The Grampians in front of us with the most amazing sun rises and sun sets. The facilities are second to none. I could have stayed forever!
- Jemmakate18 (10/5): Romantic and secluded - My partner and I stayed here for two nights in early January and we absolutely loved our time. The villa is beautiful, well appointed and clean. We thought the location was perfect for heading in to Halls Gap for dinner, and then coming back to our secluded paradise. We enjoyed the afternoon kangaroos and the morning Emus. A complimentary bottle of wine left is such a nice touch that you do not see many places any more.
Cannot wait to come back for a longer stay next time!
- Tjcdec (10/5): Perfect couples retreat - We loved everything about our stay for our wedding anniversary. The villa was very modern and open planned with an amazing free standing bath and an ensuite with a large shower. It was also well equipped with a kitchenette and laundry facilities. The view from the veranda was very peaceful, looking out over an wide open area with the Grampians in the background. The villas are located a few kilometres out of Hall Gap, where there are many restaurants and cafes if you want to eat out. Our weekend was perfect and we would love to make this a habit to return for our wedding anniversary each year.
