Meera (1/5): - We had a deeply distressing experience at this property and would strongly advise other travellers—especially families—to avoid it. Upon arrival, we discovered a cockroach infestation, including insects on the bed, walls, and kitchen area. This was not an isolated sighting—there were multiple instances throughout the unit. We have video evidence of this. Despite raising the issue with management, the situation did not improve. While we were offered a room change and an extra night, the severity of the infestation meant we did not feel safe remaining on the property in any capacity. We were travelling with children and were extremely concerned about hygiene and health risks. As a result, both my husband and I stayed awake through the night to ensure the children were safe, and we made the decision to check out early after just one night, cutting our trip short. This property is listed as a 4-star accommodation, which makes this experience even more unacceptable. The conditions we encountered were clearly not fit for purpose and not as advertised. We have formally raised this issue with Booking.com and requested a refund due to the severity of the situation. If you are considering staying here, please be aware that our experience was far from what was advertised and had a significant impact on our family’s trip.

Jennifer (9/5): The 3 of us were really liked the apartment. It was so close to all the cafes and shops. - The 2 bedroom apartment was spacious and clean. There was 3 of us adults staying for a girls little getaway. It was nice having 2 bathrooms and the beds were very comfortable. Also the hotel is in a great location right in the heart of the town. I think the property could give you more information on a print out of when you leave the unit that you need to make sure that the air conditioning is turned off and all the lights and bins have been emptied. As I did receive this information in a email late the night before and I don’t check my emails every day. Due to this the email wasn’t seen until the next day after we had checked out of the apartment!

Too many stairs for my elderly parents and the elevator outside our room did not get to the exit. We either had to walk down too many stairs or go to the car park and walk up the ramp. exiting was a mission. Also bookings said towels are provided. however I dont think one towel per person for the entire stay is sufficient. When I called reception, she told me to wash the towels daily thats why there is a washer and dryer. When we wanted to wash the towels there was no washing detergent in the apartment and we were told to buy our own. The reception was not helpful, the apartment could have at least had clean towels or provided us with washing detergent at the very least.

Laura (10/5): We enjoyed our time at Cote DAzur. The apartment was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. - We had a great stay in apartment #49. The complex was lovely, the 3 bedroom apartment was very pretty and comfortable and had everything we needed. The washing machine and dryer came in very handy, and the 2 parking spaces was a bonus. The view from the balcony was gorgeous, and our kids loved the pool. Unfortunately the bed in the main bedroom was incredibly hard and uncomfortable and the air conditioning was inconsistent and struggled to cool the main bedroom at all. Other than that, we loved our stay.

LOUISE (8/5): Overall, it’s a nice comfortable stay. - In town Nelson Bay, close and convenient to shops. Very clean upon arrival. Comfortable beds. Nice balcony view. Very happy. The swimming pool closes at 8pm and little kids were left without parent supervision to remain in the pool till about 9:30pm, instead of leaving when management asked. They continued to make noise till very late when people in the apartments needed quiet time.

We were overcharged the cost of the stay stating “additional fees and charges” which is against booking.com policy as the final price of the booking should be as the final confirmation price. I emailed to have the additional fees refunded and owner refused. Beware overcharging when you book. Response of management when we requested the overcharged amount be refunded. They charged us a credit card fee on top of the final cost of the booking even though this should include all fees and charges
susan (10/5): Clean , easy and friendly - We had a wonderful stay at Cote. The staff were absolutely fantastic—friendly, responsive, and genuinely welcoming. The unit itself was spotless, well-maintained, and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed, from kitchen essentials to little extras that made it feel like home. The location couldn’t be better—just a short walk to the beach, marina, shops, and restaurants. It made getting around so easy, and the views were beautiful. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing and convenient stay in Nelson Bay. Could not fault the place

But access was easy with a lift, she had her own ensuite. She was comfortable and felt at ease. I thought the ocean views would be a little better from the apartment. There was too much views of commercial premises and carpark areas.

carol (8/5): - Location, well situated, walking distance to everything you may need Emails from bookings.com that were very unprofessional regarding parking spaces, the email was not warranted as it had nothing to do with my car spaces that I was assigned . If there is issues with guests parking booking .com or the resort should request your number plate of your vehicle. This option would stop the emails with harsh wordings while you are on a holiday.

Honestly, we didn’t have high expectations for this accommodation since it was new to us, and we usually prefer well known resorts however, it exceeded our expectations. We stayed in a three-bedroom apartment with three bathrooms. The layout and design were amazing, practical, clean, and very comfortable. We loved it very much and will definitely return. As we were close to the swimming pool, the noise was sometimes annoying and woke our baby, but it was acceptable. The apartment itself offers good privacy, so it didn’t really bother us.

Vicki Cook (10/5): Excellent Stay! 😊 - The room was perfect for our group, comfortable and plenty of seating for the 6 of us which is normally an issue. The kitchen had everything we needed and the view from the balcony looked out over the bay. Wonderful! Pam our host was exceptionally helpful and communication was great, she even allowed us a sneaky late check-out. We'll be back next year.

It was made so easy for them to get around The beds. We’re not comfortable at all the pillows perfect. My mum said her bed for perfect it’s just my bed and Lena and her mum bed was good

Not an issue there as I understand they may need it in case we don’t show up but they charged our card without authorisation two weeks before our stay. My account is linked with my business cards as I mostly travel for work so my business card was charged for a personal trip which brings up a lot of issues accounting-wise. Also, I requested as invoice which was never issued. In addition, we did not end up in the apartment which we clearly selected to be close to our friends. We were given a different unit which was on a different block which required 2 elevator rides up and down the parking to go from one apartment to the other. They did not contact us at any time to notify us regarding this change.

Apartment very aged and in need of significant refurbishment, especially the filthy carpet and cheap mattresses. Stop threatening your guests with minimum $50 fines if they don't do everything that your cleaning service should include. Yes, comes across that you're expecting your guests to disappoint you or not come up to your expectation...an expectation that your guests just about have to change the sheets and remake the beds for the following guests. Yes, seriously, given the expectation to even vacuum the carpets before departure. We could list more than 30 items with ease, however, we have wasted enough of your time on this tired accommodation in serious need of a reality check.
