Guest Reviews
- Catherine (10/5): - LOVELY stay-the proprietors Tim and Janet are wonderful hosts-we were allowed to check in early, shared an informal happy hour and they gave us a lot of local information and happenings. Janet showed a lot of personal touches to the room and it was great to have our own patio. HIGHLY recommend!
- sherry (10/5): - Lovely B&B. Hosts were amazing
- Alena (10/5): - Great location! Great hosts!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely - Great people lovely property and so friendly.... close to the centre of town and more than enough places to ear
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice B&B in Nelson - Quiet room in cottage separate from main house - comfortable and special. You can hear the river at night if windows are open. 10 minute walk to choice restaurants. Tasty cooked breakfast. Friendly hosts.
- ILANA (10/5): Outstanding B&B with outstanding owners - After 3 months of traveling Auz and NZ and after a week around Nelson (and few disappointing B&B here), we found Baywick Inn. I wish it was sooner. If you can - book it. One of the nicest one I've ever been and possibly the nicest one of all in Nelson city.
Great location, perfect room (Brookview), all very clean and spoiling, wonderful breakfast. One of the few places in north South Island with aircon and mesh - just because they care. Much more than any other place around. I found Janet and Tim to be nicest couple we've met around. Extremely nice and so respectful to our privacy - a really rare combination. I was sad to leave. This place and its owner made me feel good.
Before we left I told Janet they can charge more for the room, she answered: "it's not all about money. It is nice to give people more than they expect" (maybe in better English...) - unbelievable! And it says it all.
- Sally (10/5): A B & B full of character - This is a period house (1890s) + cottage behind built recently in the same style. We had what we think is the best bedroom (the one with the bath behind a screen in the photos). It has its own entrance and feels entirely self-soontained, with a rear balcony looking out over a stream and a small additional garden. It was well worth the slightly higher than average price.
- Stephen (10/5): A good stay! - A very quaint historic house. Lovely that Tim and Janet make the time to chat with you over breakfast. Located right near the center of New Zealand as it turns out.
- Larry (10/5): Character B & B - A warm welcome from Tim & Janet. Very helpful about the area.
Nice breakfast of fresh fruit, yoghurt, home made museli, scrambled eggs, bacon, tomatoes and toast all cooked and served by Tim and Janet. It was nice that they made time to chat to you too.
We had a large room with balcony. The complimentary sherry/port was a nice touch. Also the honesty box for beer/wine.
- Jess (10/5): Lovely little B&B on the river - This was a lovely little B&B - we were disappointed that we were only staying one night! Our host was kind enough to show us around upon our arrival, as well as make some recommendations on where to eat and provide us with a map of the town. I really liked how the whole house was in keeping with the style of the era in which the home was built. Our room had its own private bathroom; my husband thought it was a little strange that we had to leave our room to access it, but it was in keeping with the nuances of the home. It was an easy walk into the main CBD area for dinner. We met a few other couples at breakfast the following morning - the Inn can only accommodate 4 couples at a time, so everything is very personalised. The meal, prepared by our hosts, was absolutely delicious and really showcased the local produce.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent B & B in a convenient location - This was a very nice B & B. Janet was very helpful in giving us advice on how to plan our time. We had excellent breakfasts on both days we stayed. The internet worked fine. Would definitely return if we ever get back to Nelson.
- Nelley (10/5): What a perfect little spot! Loved it! - I had the self contained unit and could not have been happier. Absolutely everything I needed and more. Hosts were incredibly accommodating. Everything was perfect, even the weather!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hosts were very friendly and helpful. They have done a lovely job I. Restoring their historic home in Nelson on a quiet street just a few blocks from the stores and restaurants. Delicious breakfast
- Shirley (10/5): Fantastic place - Fantastic place to stay. Will return. Breakfast fabulous.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A weloming, perfectly located Nelson escape - Very friendly and lovely breakfast.
- Caroline (10/5): Gem in Nelson - Baywick is a gem! Fantastic location, interesting and friendly hosts, delicious breakfast. We'll definitely go back when in Nelson.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A delightful stay with Tim and Janet. A beautiful old house with true character and the sunshine just streams in on a sunny day (which I'm told are plentiful). Would've loved to have stayed longer (check out their website for multi-day itineraries. Short walk to centre of town and lots of restaurants including the current 2015 Best Regional Restaurant (Cuisine Magazine). Breakfast was a very generous spread that hit all the right spots - you must have the omelette. 5/5 - everything you'd want from a BNB. Can't wait to come back.
