The bed was large and very comfortable. We loved being in the beautiful subtropical gardens. Tanya was a great host making sure we had everything we needed. The location was perfect for trails. Just disappointed that we stayed on a Monday when the restaurant is closed but we had really good food in the pub down the road. Nothing. Everything was good.

Have now stayed here 3 times- that's got to be a good recommendation! A great place to relax.
It's close to the town but also lovely walks. We loved it all!
- Vivienne (7/5): - Very dark cottage 1 as surrounded by goliage
- Denise (9/5): - The surroundings, big bed, good facilities Bathroom floor remained wet after showers even into next day.
- Troels (9/5): -
- Jodi (10/5): I wish we could have stayed longer -
- Maureen Beverland (9/5): -
- Jane (10/5): Picturesque tropical surroundings and a wonderful and comfy unit. - A wonderful and relaxing overnight stay. The tropical surrounds were idyllic. Great "unit" too - spacious, well-appointed with a relaxing tropical view from the porch.
- tracey (8/5): - Beautiful garden, fantastic onside restaurant Room a little dark, but comfortable and secluded
- Jill (4/5): Charming location, accommodations not as rated - The surroundings were exceedingly beautiful! Lush plantings with a quaint walk. Delicious restaurant on the property The accommodations needed updating. Wooden steps saggy, Bed lumpy, furniture old
- Adam (10/5): -
- Gordon Shaw (9/5): -
- Janice (9/5): Great location, comfortable stay. - Comfortable stay with good amenities. Tania is excellent, responsive and helpful. None
- Findlay (10/5): Will be our go-to if staying in KeriKeri - Great atmosphere surrounded by lush sub-tropical bush with lovely walking track through it. Cabin has full kitchen and comfy seating. Awesome veranda with table and chairs allowing you to eat/drink outside and soak up the surroundings. Lovely restaurant also on site. Cabins totally in sync with surroundings.
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Beata (10/5): Exotic paradise - This is a green paradise, a green exotic oasis in the city of Kerikeri! Absolutely nothing. This is the perfect accommodation by far
- Jill (10/5): Perfect in every way. - The size , the facilities, the outlook, the trail through the rainforest. The history of the land and what has been done and what the future plans are for the family. Absolutely amazing place to stay. Peace tranquility and so much to learn.
The restaurant next door was unbelievable.
Tania was brilliant and so informative. There is nothing not to like
- Simon (5/5): Very Disappointing and not as the Sites Photos show it - Clean and Tidy, Very Roomy, Good Bed, but it was dark and dingy due to being far to in close by the outside undergrowth Very disappointed with the outside of our Cabin/Apartment, I think it was number 1 and none of the 78 photos that are off the property on Booking.com show any resemblance to that Cabin, we have been traveling in NZ for over 4 weeks and this was supposed to be a restful 3 days before returning to the UK, that we could site outside in the evening and enjoy some quite time. All the photos show the outside areas with Grass and Flowers, ours was nothing like that, very enclosed, dark and dingy, we never sat outside, it was really not what the sites pictures show, not a true representation of the outside area. Look at the Photos we have attached and Judge for your self’s
Yes we knew it was Subtropical but doesn’t mean it should be different to the other Cabin on site
- Lynne (10/5): - Perfect stay in a peaceful setting. Tanya was very accommodating and eager to make our stay comfortable Nothing it was perfect

- David (10/5): A very relaxing and enjoyable stay. Thank you. - Excellent cabin with everything you need! Everything worked and as described. Very peaceful setting. Nothing!
- Claude (10/5): Bungalow dans la jungle.... - Tout. Le dépaysement total. Nous avions l'impression d'être seuls dans la jungle. La gérante est super sympa Rien
- Helen Trewin (8/5): Unique stay in special location. - Unique location in the Sub-tropical Gardens. Quiet but convenient. Stone Store/ good pub within walking distance.
Kerikeri town a walk/ very short drive away, and handy for other nearby attractions. Chalet 1 rather enclosed, with shrubs up to decking. Other 4 had the advantage of a grass area in front for a more open aspect/view.
- Pauline (10/5): Perfect cottage, wonderful environment. - The cottage had everything we could possibly need and was modern and comfortable with a deck overlooking a wonderful subtropical garden. Tania helped us with our washing and was a great host. Away from the hustle and bustle of the Bay of Islands. Car parking required a bit of practice! Nothing really.
- Catherine (9/5): - Great place to stay, the setting is magical, staff very friendly
- Helen (10/5): Do yourself a favor and stay here - This place is so beautiful. An entire bungalow set in a very peaceful 5 acre garden. We loved it. Tania and her Dad are lovely. The place is very clean and comfortable. Would really recommend it. The onsite restaurant is very good. Thanks for a wonderful stay. The bed was huge and comfortable and the bathroom is possibly the largest I’ve ever seen. We loved sitting on the balcony and having a cold one. Everything was great
- Natalia (9/5): -
- Pamela (10/5): Lovely place, great gardens. Good location. - Needed another mirror, only one small one in the bathroom, coffee table would be good
- Bexnarcher (8/5): - The simplicity of the accommodation, the lush gardens, the friendliness of the staff, and the food and wine at the onsite restaurant Maha. The location is best if you have a car, so best to have one during your stay. We had a lot of rain occur during our stay so the room smelled damp and the temp was humid. Use the fan, air con, and some room spray and you'll be ok.
Note: the bugs and spiders were definitely around so be prepared to relocate them or use the bug spray if you are not a fan.
- Abbigail (9/5): Great stay!! Safe calm and beautiful - Location and surroundings Coffee in the cabin
- Brigitte (10/5): Subtropical Paradise - It is a wonderful place in midst of a subtropical paradise and close to the historical highlights, beautiful walkways and good restaurants in Kerikeri. The bungalows are well equipped and maintained, and allow a lot of privacy. Our hosts were most friendly, supportive and welcoming, and contributed to the lovely atmosphere. We enjoyed every day. Thank you!
- Lucy (9/5): - The hostess, Tania, is a very friendly and welcoming lady.
The cottage is clean, spacious, and located in a beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing environment.
Niets viel tegen
- Hōrihi (10/5): -

- Dagmar (9/5): - De locatie was geweldig. Een restaurant naast de deir en de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden op loopafstand.
- joanne (9/5): -
- Nina (10/5): -
- Kathryn (10/5): - Location
The owners are fabulous Musty smell because the rooms are older and they are located in bush so not so sunny at times
- Claudia (10/5): -
- Anita (9/5): Love the cabin, surroundings and location . Would book here again. Not one complaint. - The location was beautiful . Who knew there was so much bird life and trees right near town. I loved that , it wasn't wall to wall like a motel , but with the price if a motel we had our own cabin surrounded by gardens , bird and trees . So relaxing .
We really enjoyed the garden art walk too was a great way to slow down and enjoy a garden walk with a cool breeze and shade on a hot day.
- Michele (10/5): If we were ever up that way again, i would rebook, Tania & Wharepuke was amazing 😊 - Our cabin was very private, Tania was more than accommodating & extremely helpful & lovely
- Gill (10/5): magical surroundings, cosy comfy cottages and close to gorgeous beaches and walks - location, environment, proximity to wonderful surroundings and the beaches Nothing - this was our second visit and 3rd booked !!
- Mark (10/5): -
- Pete (8/5): -
- Nancy (10/5): - Amazing gardens and scenery ! Can get absolutely lost

- Greg (10/5): -
- Rita (4/5): As above - Location good. Property should have been aired. Strong smell of damp and we found mould. Had dehumidifier on while out and lot of water collected. Might be a good place to stay in summer - not winter.
- Pete (10/5): L - Fantastic location.
Close to town but removed enough to feel like an escape.
- Sandy (9/5): Superb -
- Margaret (9/5): Brilliant Place Recommend to all - This place was amazing. Set in the most awesome gardens, with a world class restaurant just metres away (out of sight).
Really comfy in a brillant part of NZ so glad we spent two nights here, superb gardens to wander around in.
Thanks to the great hosts, The water from the shower pools around the toilet - if you forget to wipe it up after next time you get wet socks. LOL
- Norman (9/5): Loved it and will stay again. - Loved the bush setting, the cabin really requires a bushwalk and that's very cool. The Maha restaurant was superb, a real treat. A musty smell is common to buildings that have to be closed up in the bush in damp conditions. We opened the doors and windows when we first arrived and that helped. The rooms themselves were not damp and you get the same smell in tropical locations, so it is not a biggie to us, just part of the time of year and natural setting.
- Yanchi (10/5): Fantastic - Everything.
- Jo (8/5): Beaut place gorgeous setting - The setting, lovely large warm cottages with everything you need. gorgeous restaurant fab owners and restaurant staff

- Aileen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tina (8/5): We'd happily stay there again! - Beautiful location and surrounding gardens. It was very peaceful. The cabin was well equipped and had everything you need to be comfortable.
- Fryer (9/5): Superb - relaxing beautiful scenery and friendly staff
- Bashir (7/5): Good -
- Jan (8/5): Good, would recommend, - Pleasant little apartment set in large subtropical gardens. Very comfortable with great king size bed. Excellent wifi cover. Close to shops. Nothing
- Helke (10/5): Wonderful time in Kerikeri in lovely accommodation - Tropical paradise, own, self-contained chalet in private botanical garden. The chalet with living room/ kitchen plus bedroom and terrace is very comfortable and has all you need for a pleasant stay including air conditioning. Parking on site. Very good value for money. Highly recommended as base for exploring Northland or just chilling out in Kerikeri with nearby waterfall walks. Would love to come back. Nothing
