Guest Reviews
- Jodie (8/5): -
- tania (10/5): - Private, in the trees and still accessible to cafe, gallery and walks. Inside cabin no internet yet if you walk to entrance and beyond can connect. Good to have a switch off so favourable
- Ray (10/5): Had a fantastic weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The accommodation was amazing and Greg was very helpful wi -
- Renee (8/5): -
- Maria (8/5): Nice and well located for the walks. Shame about the leaking roof. - The drier was a godsend with the wet weather.
Location is very nice and private. The roof had a leak so we had to constantly change towels under the drip. Doing that 3 nights in a row was not great. It was on top of the electric fireplace so we didn’t feel comfortable using it. :-(
- Leanne (8/5): - No wi fi or phone reception
Surrounded by forest
Secluded Electric fireplace
- John (8/5): Enjoy our stay needs breakfast supply like before - Didn’t have breakfast supply Better lighting outside on the grounds
- Annabelle (10/5): Beautiful rainforest retreat - Absolutely beautiful little spot! When we arrived we had a very warm welcome from Greg who gave us the lowdown on the area and his best insider tips. The cabin itself was absolutely lovely. So quiet and private. We enjoyed the great big spa bath, comfy bed, and back deck. Could have spent much longer here!
- Emily (8/5): A peaceful escape from the city. - A beautiful, quiet getaway. We stayed in the Rosella cabin and loved the peaceful, off grid feel, with no signal, just nature by day and cosy, nostalgic DVD nights. The calming tones throughout the cabin made it feel so relaxing, the kitchen had everything needed to be self sufficient. The modern bathroom with a spa bath was my favourite part. My partner especially loved having the Weber BBQ. We also enjoyed watching the pademelons around the property and the mix of native trees alongside the huge magnolia and maples. Just some minor feedback — there was shower leakage onto the tiles, and in the cooler climate they didn’t quite dry, which made the bathroom floors feel a bit cold. We also noticed some dust build up on the dryer vent that might just need a quick clean.
- Holly (10/5): The most magical place I've been in a long time ! - Beautiful location, magical little cabin in the woods Absolutely nothing !
- Leoll (9/5): Quiet seclusion - Peace and quiet That the property didn t have breakfast basket as an option.
- Gill (2/5): We booked two nights but only stayed the first night. - It was quite beautiful It felt very wet and there were leaches throughout the cabin (probably from the rain)
The bedsheets weren’t clean enough they smelt pretty bad and used.
- Pringle (10/5): -
- tara (10/5): Pitta cottage, springbrook on Lye - Loved the serenity of being isolated, loved the quietness.
The bathroom was modernised, the staff were very thoughtful and provided extra things like paper towel, salt, oil etc. Everything was supplied just needed to bring your food and drinks due to the lack of availability up there.
Loved that it was clean. Loved the stained glass windows
Pitta cottage was the Best. Lack of reception. Narrowness of the roads, lack of supplies up there.
- Agnete (8/5): Cozy stay in between all the trees and birds - This little cabin has such a stunning location amongst the trees. We were lucky to see a lot of birds and possums. We enjoyed the amenities such as kitchen, washing machine, bbq and spa. There’s no service which was a bonus for us.
We didn’t have hot water the first night and Ash was really helpful regarding this.
All in all enjoyed our stay and would love to come back. Some sheer curtains in front of the bed would be nice
- Jeff (10/5): Wonderful cabins deep in the rainforest. Definitely be back soon! - The cabin was all glass and surrounded by the rainforest. The birdsong in the mornings was beautiful. And the location is close to all the attractions. N/A
- Elita (10/5): -
- Simone (9/5): Seclusion, calm, great responses from staff when we needed them. - Beautiful spot in the middle of the rainforest.
- Shaun (10/5): A peaceful slice of paradise. - A beautiful little place amongst gorgeous vegetation. Ample wildlife, a brilliant variety of birds. Little wallabies hopping about throughout the grounds. Close to some of the best walks and lookouts in Australia. The Gondwana forests and "Best of all lookout" are a particular standout. Peaceful, private, great facilities and great staff. We'll definitely be coming back.
- Slawomir (8/5): Nice stay at a rainforest location. - The cabin is nice, but a little neglected. Also no phone signal and no wi-fi.
- Rebecca (8/5): Had a wonderful, peaceful and relaxing time. The grounds are beautiful and the spa was a real treat. - Beautiful location, cute cottage, lovely greeting basket, love the spa The microwave didn’t seem to heat the food
- Katelyn (7/5): -
- Aaron (10/5): Beautiful spot, exactly as listed. - Secluded cabin surrounded by nature. It was the perfect place to rest and reset Wifi not available and reception cuts out, but this was a plus for me as I needed to disconnect from notifications
- Milly (10/5): -
- Kuwani (4/5): -
- Kat4SE (7/5): Cabin in the woods- great location - The location is perfect for a romantic getaway in the rainforest. The self catering cottage is close to Springbrook to explore nature. Very peaceful and quiet. The cabin was very clean with a very comfortable big bed and a good sized spa bath. There's no wifi or phone reception so it's ideal if you want to get away from it all. We stayed in Lyrebird cabin and some furniture and kitchen equipment could do with updating and upgrading. This was not a luxury 4 star experience, more of a basic self catering cabin but not priced accordingly.
- Mieke (8/5): - Het huisje ligt in het park. Rustig gelegen mooi balkon. Gezellige electrische haard en 2 persoons bubbelbad. Heel veel watervallen in de omgeving. Het is wat gedateerd. De pannen in de la waren vies en aan vervanging toe. Helaas hebben we weinig dieren gezien. Het bed was kort.
- Lissa (8/5): We enjoyed our stay very much . Staff are excellent - Very peaceful A little trouble with hot water system
- Paul (8/5): -
- Brice (10/5): -
- Deanne (9/5): - We loved how peaceful it was. The spa bath was fantastic, plenty of hot water. Having a washer/dryer was very helpful. The location was beautiful One of the light bulbs had blown, si the area around the bedroom was quite dark. But wasnt a huge issue
- Kerry (9/5): Cosy Cabin in a beautiful location - Staff were welcoming and informative, cabin was well equipped and very cosy! Spa in the cabin was was awesome, well worth paying the extra. Very private cabin. Beautiful outlook into the rainforest. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Not complaints but just improvement suggestions- The lounge cushions and bed decorative pillows need a good clean or maybe updated. I would have loved an outdoor lounge style setting on the deck , we would have got more use of that area if it was more comfortable.
- Rosa (9/5): -
- TAMITHA (10/5): - Everything was wonderful, quiet, secluded.
Greg was very informative with local knowledge.
Thankyou Bed too soft for us but comfy.
- Leisa (10/5): -
- Russell (9/5): - Position was great. Cottage had a strange smell
Rollers on sliding doors need replacing.
- David (10/5): - It was set in the national Park. So many birds. Great facilities. Good information about things to do. Comfortable bed. Well equipped kitchen. Terrible TV signal.
- Marc (8/5): -
- Jody (10/5): Would thoroughly recommend it, we’ll be going back again and again!! - The location is beautiful. The facilities are beautiful. It is the perfect spot to get away and reconnect with yourself, your partner and nature! Everything was perfect, nothing i didn’t like at all!
- Van Den Elst (10/5): Great place to unwind - Very relaxing, a great to spend time together. Very kind caretakers. The location is incredible. Nothing.
- Donna (10/5): -
- McCracken (8/5): - Beautiful location, greg was a hoot, really cute little house! Such a relaxing beautiful place 😍 Washing machine was dirty, speaker didn't work, maybe advertise about the no reception :) and it was raining while we were there and we would have loved to have still enjoyed the balcony so an umbrella table would have been perfect. But not to discourage we absolutely loved our stay :)
- Gina (10/5): -
- Kylie (7/5): - Seclusion and cabin facilities. No internet - just wanted to chill out with netflix etc but could not connect. Road in to cabin was tricky for car to grip and put us off travelling to other trails etc. Bed mattress sagged in the middle making it uncomfortable when sleeping.
- Ryan (10/5): -
- Mel (9/5): We'll be back. - Quiet and the wilderness Phone service not great, but that was a good thing too in its own way
- Vanessa (10/5): Lyrebird retreat has friendly staff, it’s very private, and very relaxing. - Very peaceful and great kitchen facilities provided Bed was a little uncomfortable
- Phyllis (9/5): -
- Stephanie (9/5): Perfect getaway to relax - Location. It was very quiet and secluded but only a walk from the main road. Waking up to the forest was amazing. We also loved the fire heater. Very cute cabin Some parts felt a bit old
- Monique (10/5): - The gentlemen who checked us in made us feel welcome and at ease instantly. The cabin was beautiful cozy clean and warm with a gorgeous spa bath and a secluded private atmosphere. The surroundings were peaceful and serene. We also enjoyed nightly visits from big mama the possum and fed her fruit and the locals were very warm and welcoming. Would definitely stay again thank you ☺️
- Melanie (9/5): Peaceful, romantic getaway close to some of the best walking trails and waterfalls. - Very peaceful location surrounded by trees where we were visited by a possum and a bush turkey. Great for couples to have a romantic getaway with complete privacy. Loved the spa bath and the hosts were very welcoming. The cabin is not well insulated so it was very cold at night. There is good heating/air conditioning in the room and bathroom but I'd prefer a more environmentally friendly option. There is also no oven in the kitchen although the electric frying pan worked a treat. (There is also a microwave)
- Monika (10/5): -
- Chris (9/5): Excellent! - Loved the personal touch. Adored the possums and bush turkeys coming in for their feed! (The memory of two possums staring through the window into the lounge will stay!) Very cosy.
Greg is a treasure. We wished we booked an extra night. I shouldn’t complain about anything - I’m rating you 9.9/10 (but if I did get picky , ran out of glad wrap, bathroom sink drain didn’t drain, couch could do replacing - very uncomfortable. Not enough cups and spoons, etc had to wash everyone we needed.
- Darlene (10/5): -
- Maria (7/5): -
- Ruth (3/5): Relaxing, peaceful and i would definitely visit again - The location , it’s very cozy and the bed and spa were fabulous.
No instructions on how to work the TV. Kitchen utensils not great, no chopping board, no sharp knives .
No blinds which meant was woken up earlier than usual.
In summer it must be very early.
- Keith (6/5): Winter break. - Location. Kitchen is ok and has what you need. Needs a refurb as very tired. The electric "fire" is for show only as it emits no heat; disappointing as we like a fire in winter. Very little space around the bed.
- Samantha (10/5): - Another blissful stay at this incredible property, nestled in Gondwana rainforests.
- Andrew (8/5): Very good - Great location and facilities, we definitely will consider to stay there again. The room was quite cold, complimentary slippers would be a bonus.
- Ghazaleh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Calvin (7/5): Good - Fantastic scenery. Plenty of room. Great location. Not completely clean. Cobwebs in corners. COLD - electric heater was insufficient for the weather. Spa (jacuzzi) did not work and we weren’t told about that until after we checked in.
- Ryan (8/5): Very good -
- Fiona (7/5): Relaxing - The extra items they provided were lovely There was a maintenance issue with the spa that we informed them about so hope it’s fixed for the next person
- Natasha (10/5): Natural beauty in a cosy unit - Quiet and peaceful location, comfortable and unique accommodation Phone reception was patchy
- Niki (9/5): Superb -
- Rosalky (9/5): Superb - Very private, cosy place for a cute romantic getaway
- Angus (10/5): Exceptional -
- Margaret (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely large A Frame house amongst the rainforest.
Wonderful wildlife - paddemelons, and many birds...
Greeted with pirt and chocolates. Nothing, too short a time
- Isabella (9/5): Superb - The place was so amazing! Felt so nice to be away from civilisation. Very cosy and cute. There were ants crawling in the roof coming from the window but apart from that it was great.
- Tammee (10/5): Peaceful and very relaxing - Was cosy and perfect to just get away from technology and society
- Hetti (8/5): Very good -
- Kathleen (8/5): Beautiful, peaceful, rainforest-enveloped cabin with balcony - much better than glamping! - Excellent window-filled cabin nestled in rainforest with balcony overlooking a little ravine. Peaceful, quiet, beautiful and feels wonderfully isolated - fantastic for watching local wildlife - day and night. It was great being off-net too.
The cabin has a lovely rustic wood design but with all the key comforts and an indoor spa.
The staff were helpful and unobtrusive and we appreciated the generous welcome gifts including champagne! We also really appreciated having efficient reverse-cycle air-con as it can get chilly at night on the shaded hillside.
We would definitely stay again. Being unfortunately unwell for much of the time we stayed i had a lot of time to contemplate little annoyances. The TV and large cabinet that blocked one of the lovely big picture-window views of the rainforest from the bed. Such a shame as it needlessly reduces the ambience of the cabin with its fantastic rainforest envelopment. We suggest getting rid of the TV and cabinet (esp as no internet) but if not possible make a TV screen available without permanently blocking the beautiful view during the day. 2. The kitchen is dysfunctionally dark. We needed our led camping light to see at the countertop. Recommend swapping the CFLs for LEDs, installing strip LED lighting under the kitchen cupboards (eg stick-ons from IKEA) and a brighter bulb for stove light. A second bedside lamp would also be nice. 3. We know it is fashionable not to have curtains/blinds but they are needed to reduce heat-loss at night and air-con (+ costs). They improve temp. control, privacy, cosiness at night and allow sleep-ins/naps. But need to be plain and not block views when open. 4. A more proactive system (like a checklist) to ensure everything is in working order before guests arrive rather than waiting for guests to encounter problems, eg in our case lots of dead batteries for remotes (& smoke alarm) and Weber BBQ not working (prob empty and lighter dead). 5. The cabin felt a bit cramped (downsize furniture?) and had only one dark space for a suitcase. Suggest replacing cupboard with bench and hanging rod plus lighting. 6. Make "entrance" sign visible from further away so fewer guests miss it when first navigate to cabins. 7. strange to have 'staff only' sign on stairs to cabin mezzanine floor. Wasted space.
- Shannon (8/5): Very good -
- Emily (10/5): - Seclusion is amazing.
- Cameron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Meina (10/5): Our host were amazing. Nothing was a bother to them. We’ve stayed twice now, will definitely be back a 3rd time . - The Rosella cabin was quiet, nestled amongst the bushland. Plenty of bird life & wallabies. The amenities were clean. Being a self catering cabin, it has the basic appliances, cutlery & crockery, as well as a washing machine & dryer.
The spa is a must! The cabin felt damp with a wet musky smell to it. My suggestion would be to perhaps have a couple of reed diffusers in the cabin to make it smell nice.
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samantha (10/5): Had an incredible few nights away, full of gorgeous nature and wildlife. Was lovely to have zero phone reception for 3 d - Gorgeous location and property. Could have done with a bit of extra cleaning
- Rae (10/5): Magical getaway - we felt as though we were part of the rainforest. - Spectacular location
- Jamie (8/5): Very good -
- Victor (8/5): Cosy and secluted cabin, great getaway - The cabin was very private and had good amenities. The bed was a good size, the bathtub was very clean. The cabin is located close to many walks (but far from any restaurants and cafes, keep that in mind). I think the reservation did not include breakfast but we were surprised with bread, jam, butter, vegemite and cereal. The bedsheets smelled like they had been washed but did not dry properly. It would be good if there was a curtain on the bed. I get that the idea is to be close to nature, but I was there in a rainy night and all the lightening was annoying at night. And then, because I didn't have a good night of sleep, I wanted to sleep in but you are awaken by the sunlight.
- Eliza (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rob (8/5): Very good -
- Darlene (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kelly (9/5): Perfect weekend getaway to recharge. - The location was spectacular and the cabin was well presented and fitted out. It was close to all the walks and lookouts. Sitting out on the balcony in nature with a good book and a glass of wine was perfect. Some of the cooking implements were getting a little worn, but it wasn’t a major issue.
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Derek (10/5): - Absolutely lovely villa sitting right in the middle of the rain forest.
Great place all the amenities
- Debbie (10/5): Was our 22yr anniversary the 2 night stay in our gorgeous romantic lil getaway cottage absolutely loved it 🥰 - I loved the peace n serenity and the cottage was very romantic gorgeous 🩷
- Shaun (8/5): Lovely rainforest retreat - Right in the heart of the rainforest. The electric fireplace was a shame - and didn’t do took much to warm the cottage.
- Elziew (9/5): We experienced a relaxing joyful weekend at Lyriebird Reteat. - The cabin was cosy and very quiet, not aware of any other cabins around. The deck was huge, bed comfortable and bathroom spacious and beautifully clean. Everything you needed in the cabin for cooking and lots of lovely surprises, sparking wine, little chocolates continental breakfast baskets. Nice greeting from Graham and explaining the area. I would much prefer wood fire heating rather than the electric one. Clearly from all the wood sheds they were wood fired at some point. I understand woodf fired may be difficult for some people to manage so probably just easier all around, plus the cleaning.
- Kirstyn (10/5): We love our stay and would love to come back - Very private Under the bed was dirty
- Geoff (9/5): Superb -
- Stella (9/5): Superb - It was so beautiful staying there, can't wait to go back The pillows weren't very comfortable, but I would just bring your own pillows
- Mallika (3/5): Will not be returning - The location- loved being in the forest and the wallabies Everything was so dusty - furniture, sheets
All the cutlery and utensils were dirty. Had caked food and oil on it. Could not use them without washing and we felt like we were washing up after other people.
There was no wifi and obviously no mobile network. There was no warning of this and hence very stressful
- David (6/5): Pleasant -
- Matt (10/5): Loved it!! Would definitely recommend and will be returning - Loved waking up in the rainforest, absolutely beautiful It rained while we were there
- Martin (10/5): A peaceful spot to relax from the big city. - The little cottage was excellent. The bed was comfortable and the facilities had everything you needed. The spa was great and the deck was so peaceful. A little cool at night but there was an air con and plenty of blankets to keep one warm. Be prepared to be woken up a little early, with the birds and their beautiful songs.
- Jason (10/5): one of the best getaway locations we have ever been to, and we will be back for sure. - Tranquility of literally being in the middle of the rainforest, the birds, the privacy, the generous supply of food, champagne. We had to leave…
