We had a flooding toilet on the second night of our stay, around 630pm, my first call to the property mobile was 635pm, I could see the unattended phone ringing on the reception desk in darkness, then rang the Bowling Club next door who own the Motel, Forster Palms Motel, it took 4 calls to get someone to answer, now 6.44pm and then a further 15 minutes or so for someone to arrive from the club who then had to call someone else who then went and got a tool to turn off the water tap as it was seized up. I had needed a toilet during this half hour wait or so until he arrived, he took me to the office toilet. I said to the staff member we are going to have to have another room! It didn't seem to occur to him until I said. He proceeded to get a key for another room but we had dinner arriving any minute so we had to wait to repack the car and move and unpack it again. Luckily we didn't go out for the evening as it would have flooded our bags etc. Finally in the new room I tried to put the TV on, no signal, I presume because no one was booked into that room, I then emailed the property via Booking.com and by now it was 9pm, we were exhausted and went to bed. We were checking out the next morning to be back on the road after repacking the car again but had to wait until 10am for reception to open to follow through on email sent and request compensation for a terrible stressful exhausting last night. I was then told I had to wait a week until it could be dealt with. I made a call as I had not heard the following Saturday late afternoon now 9 days after checking out, then had to wait for a return call when I was when told that there would be no compensation for the second night. I also told reception on checking out that we could not walk on the carpet in Room 2 without shoes on as after half an hour of arriving and walking around in the room our feet were black.
