Guest Reviews
- Henrica (8/5): pleasant, staff is friendly, room and bathroom are descently clean, they provide safe place for adventurer that is more - the only property in the area so they provided safe place for the night or two lots of fly and bugs kind of expected in the outbacm
- McMahon (2/5): Lake Mungo was great but don't bother staying at the lodge. Its easy to drive from Mildura. - We decided not to stay as the clamping tent was not luxurious at all. It had nothing in it except the bed. No chairs to sit on and the facilities were at least 50m away. Not as promised. It was going to be cold and it was not comfortable. Some furniture.
- Natasha (10/5): - Loved the location, lodge was convenient for getting to and from the park, and offered things to see even when not at the park. Room was clean and comfortable, food was amazing, staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Barry (1/5): Extremely poor experience - It was like faulty towers, food was extremely basic , room was next cleaned for the 3 days that we were there. It’s only take you don’t have a choice of location or they would be out of business
- Kerrie (8/5): Lovely and peaceful, clean and friendly staff. - Position, cleanliness. A few maintenance issues
- Stephen (8/5): A friendly and comfortable place to stay in the wilderness, though a bit expensive. - Good place to stay for a night visiting Mungo Lakes. The couple running the place were great, helped us out when we had a flat tyre. Quite expensive, especially as there were no food preparation facilities, so we had to pay quite a high price for dinner at the restaurant. We also couldn't get the TV to work.
- Myriam (10/5): At the edge of the National Park - Beautiful -
- GeorgeJ (6/5): Average. - No Cooking Facilities, No Microwave, no cutlery or plates. Restaurant on site to expensive. Nearest other facility 100+ km.
- karin (6/5): - Nicely set out with rooms and porches facing into the bush. Very expensive. Food at restaurant & breakfast fair only. Hosts spoke very little English which caused problems.... night tour of Walls of China cancelled, not sure why. Couldn't tell me what time the tourist centre opened.
- Brian (8/5): Comfort in a World Heritage Location - Location near Lake Mungo NP
Rhumi and Garry were very friendly and helpful Three cornerbacks were everywhere
- Ross (8/5): - This modest facility opens the door to a global level experience that is underpinned by a living museum that reveals something new about a 100,000 year existence everyday. Any minor things are dwarfed by tge experience the Lake Mu go National Park offers
- Arthur (9/5): So much to see from here, not to be missed. - Close to Mungo visitor centre and Walls of China. The silence is amazing. Restaurant has good choice of food. It's looking a little tired but everything else makes up for it
- Monica (8/5): A reasonably priced and comfortable stay in a breathtaking area with attentive new owners. - Great location for easy access to the sights of Mungo. Very friendly and helpful owners and reasonably priced restaurant onsite with basic continental breakfast. The family bunkhouse adjoins the shared kitchen and bathroom facilities so we were woken by others.
- Syd (8/5): Something we have wanted to do for some time and it was great to finally get there - It met expectations. Staff were very helpful throughout. We were visiting Mungo NP which had the Visitor Centre closed and the Loop Rd closed - no fault of the lodge
- Jodie (8/5): It was a fun and memorable stay! - Air con! Cheap and cheerful. Cabin water pressure, suggestion to drink drive instead of going on a rebooked tour - with kids in the outback at dusk… not ideal. flies, not their fault bring a fly net! Would be great if cabins can take 4 instead of 3
- Doerig (10/5): Gorgeous place to stay for an Outback experience - Brilliant place and very friendly and helpful staff Nothing! Loves all aspects of my stay!
- EdieB (7/5): Good outback accomm! - Staff were helpful and kind. Good location - saw the pink cockatoos just down the road from the lodge in the morning :) Room is quite basic for what you pay, but a good option in Mungo nonetheless.
- Cable (8/5): Good location with nice staff. Dinner was good. - Very clean and comfortable. Location was fine, only 5 minutes from NP visitor centre. Able to arrange tour from the Lodge. Diner was provided early so that we had time to do the sunset tour. Staff were really friendly & helpful. Road in from Mildura is now sealed half way, so only about 40km of dirt, which was fairly easy driving Shower was very ordinary. Shower head would not allow decent spray, even though water pressure was reasonable. Flies were dreadful at this time of year & would recommend taking fly netting to cover your face.
- Fernando (7/5): Great location, nice place, but a couple of things to make it perfect - Location, location, location….. the lodge is in a great place to get to Mungo NP and gives an alternative to the NP accommodation. The staff were lovely and they made our stay very pleasant. The basic cabin was basic, but enough for 1 night. It would be nice to have a table and chairs in the cabin, so you don’t have to leave your clothes and belongings on the floor. The bunk beds were comfortable though. The fridge in the camp kitchen doesn’t work, that could have been a problem, but we had the one in the car.
- Aylin (1/5): Camp don’t book accommodation. Bring your own food. Don’t book the sunset tour as it’s just a walk with someone who does - Very basic, just bunk beds with an old dirty chair and table. Blankets were not super clean Except for the location I didn’t like the accommodation and the clueless staff
- Nancy (8/5): Peaceful stay - Location is the most important for the people would like to have a stay in Mungo national park. This lodge just 5mins drive to the visitor centre, it provides basic needs to the person who wants a little bit comfort stay than camping. During public holidays the cost is a little bit pricey, but understandable. Appreciate the staff providing a clean and peaceful place to stay.
- Nick (8/5): -
- Tasnimul (8/5): - I had a wonderful stay at Mungo Lodge. The property was exceptionally clean and well-maintained, which made the whole experience very comfortable. The staff were incredibly supportive, friendly, and always ready to help.
A special mention to Sukh and her team, they were extremely welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect during our stay. Sukh, in particular, was very caring and thoughtful. Since the journey involves remote dirt roads with limited or no network coverage, she made sure to check in on us and asked us to notify her once we safely reached Mildura. That level of genuine care and concern for guests is very rare and truly appreciated.
The food was also a highlight, with great quality and taste that exceeded expectations. Overall, a fantastic experience, and I would definitely recommend Mungo Lodge to anyone visiting the area.
- Karyn (4/5): The accommodation was very ordinary and needed a lot of updating. You are definitely a captured audience as you don’t ha - Not a lot. The room was outdated. Very disappointed with the presentation. We went to close the curtains and all these dead bugs fell out of the top of them onto the floor. The entry was dirty. The fly screen needed repairing. Very ordinary especially for the price we paid per night. We had hoped to do a couple of tours which were cancelled but we were only told that once we arrived.
- Guy (10/5): Delightful, helpful staff at the best location. - March 2026 - New managers Sukh and Gerry could not have been more helpful, or made us feel more welcome. A 2 minute drive from Mungo Lake Visitor Centre and all the walks and sights. Approved tours also departed directly from The Lodge.
- Jiabin (5/5): Small room, too many flies. -
- Robert (10/5): Perfect relaxation for a few days while I visited Mungo NP, good food, gracious hosts, comfortable facilities, great val - Everything. Food, comfort, facilities, hosting, location, management, hosts.
- Carol (7/5): Great to experience Mungo and see amazing sites and stay so close to attractions - Location was peaceful, well set out and lodge rooms looked out over park grounds. Was lovely to sit on deck and watch wallabies nibbling on the green grass.
Bed’s comfy, nice bathroom and clean sheets and towels.
15mins to Walls of China -a must is the sunset tour!
Suk & Gary were very welcoming. Suk couldn’t do enough for us and made our stay feel homely. Bright and bubbly and lots of smiles from these two made our stay. Would have loved a pool to cool off in as it was super hot but thankfully a/c in rooms.
Rooms could do with a deep clean, curtains need some care and fridge wasn’t cooling.
Food on first night was delicious, continental breakfast ok, dinner on last wasn’t the best. You pay for being in a remote location!
- Anon (6/5): A mixed bag on our 4th stay - This was our 4th stay at Mungo Lodge. The stargazing and secluded setting are stunning. The Walls of China tour is well worth doing.
The curry on the menu was very good (but the steaks not exceptional, as they had been in previous years). Compared to previous years, the property looks in need of some TLC. A minor example: the discarded broken solar lights strewn next to many of the flower beds. This alone would be a quick fix that would neaten up the place.
The goats roaming around and horses in the nearby field did not look well looked after.
The goat poo on the decks of the cabins could be cleaned up, at least on the morning that guests are due.
Not many of the cabins were occupied, but our unit and the one next to it were. At such a quiet time it would have been nice to offer more seclusion by not placing guests in adjacent units at the same time.
- jin (10/5): -
- Rebecca (4/5): Not worth the money - I’d rather camp (and I’m not a regular camper) - Great location just moments away from Mungo national park. Sadly the negatives outweighed the benefits. Considering we were charged $300 per night, I’d say my expectations were far from the reality. So much so that we didn’t stay the second night of our trip.
After hearing about rainfall in the area, I followed this up with a call to the lodge to check conditions and was told yes it is dry and we are open no problems. So we made the journey out there. Arriving several hours later, we were allocated a room - which we found had not been cleaned. After a little confusion we were allocated another room. Thankfully the bedding and towels were clean but the rest of the place was dirty and in dire need of an upgrade. Dead flies everywhere. Curtains falling off the rails. Power points coming off the walls. Broken tap in the bathroom. Bathroom door would not close. The bed was on castors so every time you moved it rolled around the room a little.
Went for dinner in the lodge. I ordered the chicken which was on the ‘turn’. I should have sent it back but I couldn’t face the awkward conversation with the 3 guys as to why so I ate it. Luckily didn’t get sick. The experience was topped off by the managers son flicking through tick tock videos at high volume on the large tv in the dining area. We were charged almost $90 for the privilege. (We only ordered 2 main courses and 2 cans of coke.)
As our morning tour was cancelled by national parks, we asked the managers what we could do. They then told us that the park was closed but that we could do a full 70km loop around the park - knowing full well the roads were closed due to the rain. I gave up in the end out of frustration as their grasp of English was not quite there.
I’d been looking forward to this trip for over 5 years after our 2021 trip was cancelled and refunded due to heavy rain.
It appears they have new management as there are signs everywhere stating ‘no refunds’.
We totally understand the challenges faced by remote towns and communities but this place is taking the piss - I’d rather camp.
- Lingqi (9/5): - Free breakfast is satisfying N/A
- Frank (10/5): - Zeer behulpzaam personeel. Erg vriendelijk.
- Kajanan (8/5): -
- Tom (9/5): Great location and helpful staff. - The location provided excellent access to the adjacent National Park. The staff were exceptionally helpful.
- Mark (9/5): Overall loved it - Breakfast simple but ok. Location to park was excellent but bikes would make it easier Glamping tent had nothing in it but a bed. Somewhere to sit outside would have been nice
- Albert (6/5): -
- Peter (8/5): - Location is awesome.
Gentleman on the counter was very friendly and helpful Aircon in bunk room was underpowered and made for a hot night's sleep
- Samuel (10/5): -
- Sharon (8/5): Mungo is stunning and the staff are really welcoming friendly and accomodating - Property grounds were lovely. loads of animals. Even had a local sheep curl up on my doorstep for my last night. Breakfast was included which was not on website . So closes to Mungo NP less than 3 km. The room was tired. Cracks in the shower base, toilet roll not straight random holes in the wall where presumably hooks had been. Animal poo all over the back and front deck. The room was boiling on arrival and took 3 hours to cool with the a/c on at 18c. This would not bother but for almost $600 for 2 nights. No microwave only at the camp kitchen no hairdryer but had an iron.
- Peter (9/5): -
- Les (8/5): nice - nice place in the middle of nowhere shower hed
- Kheng Hui (6/5): Won’t come again! - Don’t like at all No power at tent. Didn’t describe there is share kitchen
- Tharushi (10/5): - Staff here are incredible. Very supportive we couldn't thank them enough. They did everything they can to make our stay comfy and memorable. Nishanth (sorry if I miss spelled his name) is my new favourite person. Very supportive friendly and humble. We stayed at the tent I think for the price it can be better. Tents are little old and some functions are not working properly. Otherwise everything thing is better here.
- Zequn (9/5): -
- Zuzana (8/5): -
- Jing (7/5): - It’s the only available lodge in the national park, great location and offers tours in the park. The mattress isn’t very comfortable and aircon keeps turning off automatically…
- Thiet (8/5): -
- bradley (7/5): -
- Chuhao (8/5): A little bit expensive but overall satisfied with the cabin. - First booked a glamping tent, but found out there was sand and dust on the bed. Then paid extra $100 and upgraded to a cabin, that was pretty good, has everything in the room. Just one thing, the shower water flow is too slow and small! Shower water flow is too slow and small.
- Willem (9/5): Great stay near Mungo! New management is great - So we were a bit hesitant upon booking as we read some bad reviews about the place and tours being cancelled. It’s seems that this was under old management. We checked in and the friendly woman at reception managed to get us on a sunset tour that day even though we had booked for the next day. The tour was great with exclusive access past the boardwalk. The lodge is very close to the NP and a great option. We had a bunk room with the shared facilities which were clean and very close. We cooked our own meals in the kitchen which was a plus. AC worked good and the WiFi was fast in the reception area! The beds were not comfy, that’s something they need to look into. The dust didn’t bother us as it’s normal as you’re in the desert, but we did find spiderwebs in the rooms. WiFi was a bit slow in the room but we just went to reception. Restaurant doesn’t seem to have vegan options.
- Mausam (10/5): - Great place, well run, polite and helpful staff
- Cuiting (8/5): -
- Katherine (8/5): Incredible and very friendly place in the most beautiful landscape - The staff were absolutely wonderful! Service was great and everyone was very friendly. Incredible to be able to stay somewhere so remote. The AC wasn't quite up to the heat we were in, it kept turning on and off. It wasn't a deal breaker but could do with a bit of updating
- ZHI-YUN (5/5): -
- Robert (9/5): - It was close to all the areas we wanted to visit within the National Park.
The room met our requirements but no real extras.
The time we were there was very quiet so the staff had plenty of time to spend with us and were very helpful. Nothing really however was expecting there to be a bit of ambience in the lounge area etc. With it being the quiet season, we were only guests, meaning nothing going on in lounge. No fault of the accommodation just we hadn’t known.
- Christian (5/5): -
- Atul (10/5): Strongly recommended to anyone. - The hosts were simply exceptional. They even served us special dinner and organised car charging for my EV.
They went above and beyond regular responsibilities to ensure our stay remains comfortable and memorable. We were provided with ample suggestions to maximise our leisure experience during our time there.
- Alice (10/5): - Excellent experience staying at Mungo Lodge. The staff were incredible - so friendly and helpful! Food was delicious and the rooms and amenitites are great. My partner and I went in the first week of December 2025 and were practically the only guests there, which meant we got to experience the remote location in a very special way. I would recommend the Lodge to anyone who is interested in exploring Mungo National Park. Special thanks to Anju for the wonderful conversations.
- Alice (10/5): - Given the remoteness of the place, the 2 bedroom self contained unit was a luxury All good
- Clay (7/5): A comfortable stay in Mungo National Park - Accommodation units were excellent, with good facilities and spacious. Staff were also excellent, very friendly. Breakfasts were very basic. The dinner menu was also quite ordinary, although no complaints about the cooking. Only one brand of wine available, and this was cask quality.
- Andreas (9/5): -
- Peter (9/5): - The stay was made very enjoyable by the lovely couple who managed Mungo Lodge.
Internet at reception was good. Considering the remote location the Deluxe King Room was not bad.
- Florian (10/5): -
- Jasmine (10/5): - Amazing spot and staff!!! Easy meal but was nice kitchen Nothing
- Fiona (6/5): -
- Karyn (9/5): - The cabin was comfortable and spacious. The National Park was awesome and easy to access. Expanded dinner menu would be nice. Also maybe try to keep the animals off the cabin entry decks. A lot of excrement which is unpleasant and attracts flies. Little gates perhaps.
- Peter (8/5): All good - Fine Curtain were in need of repair
- Devendra (7/5): Enjoyed the outback , more intense tour for $75 could have completed the trip. - Unique location in the bush , clean , spacious, staff doing there best with limited resources 40km of unseal road, shower and bathroom doors not shutting , needs a maintenance guy
Need bit of indigenous touch, lovely tour guide as a person , not enough information , enthusiasm .
No one told us tour does include a visit to the visitor centre.
- Brian (10/5): A most enjoyable and interesting experience in a somewhat remote location. - Staff were wonderful. Cabin was excellent. Food was very good.
The China Wall tour was great, especially at sunset.
The dirt road in provided quite an outback experience for about 40 km. A small car is not recommended. Originally we were booked into a Glam Tent, but it lacked facilities and was hot. Luckily we were able to get into a cabin. They do plan to upgrade the tents which should be good.
- Linda (3/5): No good.breafast no egg.no sausage.no meat at all.only bread and rice pop. - The shower is not good.it is on the ceiling.water isvery slow.no shower cap.so the hair all wet after shower.and no hair dryer.so I am very upset. As above
- Piercosma (8/5): - Emu Breakfast Is really too essential. Too essential for the hotel price
- Penny (10/5): A lovely, relaxed and memorable place to stay when visiting the Mungo National Park. - It was in a great location to visit the Walls of China and had a lovely relaxed feel about it. The extra wildlife was a bonus with the peacock, guinea fowl and goats! A true outback experience. The television in my room didn’t work and the shower was dodgy. It would have been nice to have some fresh fruit at breakfast and the cooked vegetables at dinner were terrible - overcooked, mushy and swimming in water. A nice mixed salad would be a good alternative on the menu.
- anne (8/5): Mungo NP worth a visit - Deluxe cabin was fine except was tired and needed maintenance eg curtains
Restaurant dinner was average with food overcooked but service was excellent and restaurant amenity was excellent No Evidence of Maintenance on property being done.
- Kurt (8/5): A nice Outback Bush Resort. - The resort was ok, a bit expensive but for being in the middle of nowhere in the bush with many km of dirt roads in all directions what would you expect!!!
The Food was great and the staff exceptional friendly.
The cottages are very spacious and comfortable.
All kinds of animals all around the property,
I've loved it.
A fairly good Breakfast is included in the price!! A bit expensive @ $299 per night for myself only.
- Alan (8/5): -
- Jodie (10/5): Loved our stay, hope to come back again. - The hosts and staff were exceptional - very welcoming, informative, attentive and extremely hard working.
The cabin was very clean with a big, comfortable bed, good shower and lovely sunset views from the back deck.
All the meals served at Mungo Lodge were delicious and presented beautifully. The barista coffee and continental breakfast were a great way to start each day.
The wandering animals were a pleasant bonus and the location couldn't be better to explore the Mungo National Park. The Sunset Tour booked through the Lodge is a must do.
Mungo Lodge is a fantastic place to stay, but it's the wonderful staff who make it extra special. We treasured this holiday and would love to come back.
- Norma (8/5): - Mungo Lodge is a welcoming oasis. We enjoyed every minute. Even the resident goats, Guinea fowls and peacock add to the ambience!
- Lorraine (9/5): A visit to the Lodge is enjoyable. - Breakfast was ordinary but kangaroo kebabs at dinner and the Chicken Supreme were great. Our cabin had a verandah at the rear where baby goats came to play and we saw a peacock and emu from the front verandah. Delightful. That the tour guide on the sunset tour did not provide stories from Aboriginal culture. Mungo and the Walls of China are of world significance and the Lodge should be providing proud rich information to recognise the Aboriginal history of this site.
- KOK SOON (7/5): With the area that the lodge is in and the condition provided I think its pretty decent and value for money. Although th - Room was spacious, and had internet for a remote location.
Some farm pet that liven up the vibe of the area. Shower pressure was not that great, some in room facilities need an update. Eg. shower area.
- Maggie Y (4/5): -
- Chia-Chi (8/5): -
- Keryl (4/5): - Conveniently located within the park and a short drive to most attractions. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The food was good, but expensive. The sunset tour was great. The accommodation was run down and the facilities, such as share bathrooms weren’t clean and some were broken. Our room had someone else’s contact lenses on the floor! The flooring has come apart and the curtains old. The food in the restaurant was good but quite expensive.
- Colin (10/5): Comfortable Outback experience - Easy access to Mungo. Separate cabin provides privacy and comfort. Comfortable bed. Quiet. Outback experience with modern conveniences. All excellent.
- Sharon (8/5): A fun stay in a unique spot which had a bit of a random vibe!! Lots of potential in this property just needs a bit of l - The location to Mungo, the room was very clean, well equipped and plenty of potential to walk around explore the random animals and have an open fire and join with other families.
The meals were of a good standard! The main lodge was a bit run down and needed a dust and tidy up. Meal tables needed a good clean.
- paul (8/5): Nice cabins in peaceful location. The resident sheep , goats , emu and other wildlife are an added bonus - Cabins were of a good size with nice outlook to paddocks. Very quiet location with amazing night sky. Dinner was of good quality. Only a short drive to get to the park entry. Attention to detail lacking with torn curtains and ash trays not emptied. Disappointed that 2 jackets left behind in wardrobe were not posted on despite immediate offer to pay any costs. Breakfast a little disappointing. Expensive stay but it is in the middle of nowhere. The mungo park loop road is currently partly closed so access thru the park is restricted.
- GEOFF (9/5): To really appreciate this spectacular place, give yourselves a couple of days. - To stay & experience the true outback, Mungo Lodge is a great option. We booked a cabin initially, but were so glad we upgraded to the deluxe cabin with shower, toilet, tv ext. Nice balcony looking out into the scrubby outback was good to sit & enjoy a sip, with goats, Guinea fowl, kangaroos, emus & a peacock wandering about. lt’s rating of 4 1/2🌟should not be confused with normal city accommodation ratings, as for where you are & what’s available, it is more than fair.
The staff could not of been any more helpful & friendly & given they have only taken over a few months ago, they are also learning on the run. Bar / dinning room was a nice spot to relax & breakfast included is something you see less & less when travelling around. Given that the annual rainfall is somewhere between 6 & 10 inches, it’s dry & sandy, but that adds to the outback experience. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay & learn the history & challenges of the Australian Outback. Nothing to do with Mungo Lodge, but only being in a Mazda 5 on the outback red dirt , corrugated, rough roads was a challange. Got there via Balranald & returned via Mildura, doing around 180kms on these roads. Got out without any issues, but the 4 wheel drives just cruised past us. Be prepared for the roads!

- Sally (8/5): Interesting venue - Good location, clean and neat Would love to see more Aboriginal cultural elements and art work available for sale. They need more staff. Those there are doing a great job but have too much to do
