- Jeremy (9/5): Great place to stay. - Friendly staff, spacious room, great location, private parking.
- Charles (8/5): Very good location and good services - Perfect for what we wanted and we could walk to all the sights. Extra heating was provided without asking. Pressure in the shower was poor
- Marilyn (9/5): - A lovely country pub with friendly staff and great food.
- vincent (8/5): Convenient location, comfortable and clean. - Good location in centre of town. Excellent meal in pub downstairs. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast was limited.
- Bridget Macfarlane (9/5): -
- Tash (10/5): - Clean tidy rooms. Perfect location. Very limited parking
- heather (10/5): Would definitely recommend the place with a great restaurant. - Clean comfortable and in a great location . Nice breakfast. Steps and no lifts
- Jackie (9/5): Enjoyable stay in a traditional old pub with great on-site restaurant - The location was excellent, a two minute walk to river and shops. On-site free parking a bonus. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. On-site restaurant and bar had a great choice of meals, size portions were very generous, and the food cooked perfectly. The room was decorated in a traditional style which matched the age and character of the building. Bed was very comfy. The showers water pressure was lacking somewhat.
- Mahina (7/5): A few things needing to be updated and changed, not entirely worth the money, probably better choices in Whanganui - Having the window was nice, the bed was comfy, the fridge was convenient, the staff were very nice and fun! There was just a few that seemed like they would rather be doing absolutely anything else - totally valid! I worked in hospitality and I get it! But it just leaves a sour taste. The shower had horrible pressure, the door handles were broken, the kettle needs to be replaced as it had white flaky stuff on the bottom, very non-sound proof walls, quite expensive to stay from 3pm (check in) until 10am (check out) for $200+, we had no idea how to turn the heater off (there defiantly was signs but they need to be more obvious), there was also no drinking water in the room - when paying $200+, getting minimal continental breakfast, no water, broken and dirty appliances, it’s just not a good feeling

- Christopher (8/5): Centrally located Suited us well A beautiful historic hotel - Breakfast were very good
Room itself large and convenient. A lunch plate or two could provided
Parking at back of hotel - finding a space was a lottery.
Steep stairs to ascend to enter rear of accommodation.
- Tony (10/5): Beautiful historic stay with amazing craft beers - The location is amazing. Beautiful old building get the bed and the room rooms are clean and comfortable. But one of the best parts is all the craft base downstairs in the restaurant with the food is amazing. This is the second time I’ve stayed here. I only came back because it was so good the first time
- Christine (9/5): - Great location No lift to take up luggage

- John (9/5): - The room was comfortable and met with our expectations. Dinner in the restaurant was very good. The parking space was very beneficial.
- Edward (9/5): Centrally located and nice pub atmosphere in the restaurant. - Staff very helpful. Restaurant good value.
- Dianne (10/5): Great central place to stay, step back in time. - Great place to stay, heritage building. The room is big, comfortable and clean. We ate dinner there, huge meals and lovely staff. Breakfast was excellent too. Can park at the back for free. The dining room has lots of old memorabilia on the walls, like an English pub. A great town to visit and walk around, art galleries, river, lots of shops too. We are so glad we decided to stay here. Nothing to report, all good, thank you
- Jeanette (9/5): -
- Brett (9/5): -
- Clive (9/5): - Have stayed here before and will do so again. Water pressure in the shower poor
- Vivienne McGregor (10/5): - The room was spacious and very clean. The bathroom was fine, although the water pressure in the shower was a bit light. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The location in the middle of town was excellent. Having to lug heavy suitcases up stairs. There is no lift, so it was a bit of an issue. We managed though.
- Colleen (10/5): A fabulous stay at Rutland Arms Inn! - We had a fabulous stay! There was parking hidden away in behind the property, which was great. There wasn't a lift, and quite a few stairs, but the property was worth it. Our room (No 1) was just so spacious and lovely. The property feels like it was recently renovated, the decor, the modern touches and ambience were very good. It was a hot and sunny afternoon, and we were lucky to have an air conditioner in our room for our two night stay. Our king sized bed was very comfortable, and we both slept well. Customer service was excellent! From Riley who checked us in, to Bailey who waited on us in the pub, to the wonderful Jilleah at breakfast. The pub area was really busy, and we enjoyed having a few drinks as well as eating there for breakfast, lunch and bar snacks. The food was really good too, in fact our breakfast of home made muesli with yoghurt and stewed berries was amazing. The location is excellent, so easy to walk around the lovely town. So happy we stayed here, I highly recommend this property. There was nothing I didn't like. Luckily my husband carried my heavy bag up the stairs.
- Jim (7/5): - Location in centre of town.
- Helen (10/5): - I loved the history, location, care, facilities and general vibe. Nothing not to like. If you have difficulty with stais and luggage, you'd need to ask for help.
- Margaret (8/5): A very comfortable stay - The rooms were large with lovely high ceilings. The staff were exceptional. Not their fault but scaffolding outside the window. Poor water pressure in the shower
- Gemma (8/5): Friendly staff - Friendly staff and nice spacious room Nothing
- Alan (8/5): Nice pub and hotel in a good central location with free parking. - Good pub food in the bar, decent range of beers and a nice ambience. Room was very nice and common areas well firnished. Shower over bath and poor water pressure was a bit annoying.
- Tracey (8/5): Lovely stay in Whanganui - Right in the middle of town
Pub downstairs
Old worldie charm The shower was a bit weak
- Ian (8/5): We had.a great stay , staff were friendly and helpful. - Central location, good size rooms. Character of property. Not notified about working currently going on at hotel. Work people walking by 1st floor window from 7.30 am

- Nicola (9/5): Highly recommend, great location, staff, comfort levels - Everything was incredible. Real old world charm, super comfy beds and the restaurant for dinner comes highly recommended. Very vibrant and busy even in March, the staff were super friendly and great hosts Only slight issue was the water pressure. Shower is a trickle but we managed okay!
- Steven (9/5): Great historic hotel, sympathetically restored. Good location with secure parking - Spacious rooms well appointed bathroom.
Tasty breakfast with quality ingredients Fruit juice with breakfast would be ideal
- Anne (10/5): Great location, comfy bed in spacious room. Building a bit tired but everything that matters was good. - Traditional inn accommodation in the centre of town. Very comfy bed, large room, helpful and friendly staff. Enjoyed the simple breakfast included in the room rate. The building is a bit tired looking
- Ian (7/5): - Convenient, good sized room Shower pressure was very low.
- Stewart (9/5): - Exeptional service from staff helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Awesome food and facility Highly recommended
- Marie (8/5): - Le cadre et l'ambiance typique du pub, l'emplacement central, le restaurant, le personnel.
- Michael (8/5): - Nice atmosphere with very friendly staff. Excellent chicken curry for dinner and very good beer selection. Parking was a bit tight
- Adrienne (9/5): We have stayed here numerous times and will continue to when in Wanganui. - Great central location within walking distance of everything we wanted to see and do.
Nice breakfast and service. N/A
- James (10/5): If you like beer and good food it’s a great place to stay - Great room above pub which shut at 9pm! Great beers on tap. Road sweeping outside early in morning.
- Hildegard (5/5): Mediocre. - The food at the restaurant was very good. Noisy, decor outdated, and breakfast was subpar. A bowl of cereal is not Continental breakfast.
- Natalie (8/5): Beautiful room and stay in iconic Whanganui town centre! - Location was great, room beautifully appointed and clean. Bar and food were lovely. Staff very helpful and accommodating. And there was a bath!! Bed was uncomfortable (sorry)
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Jan (10/5): The pub stay was a great experience while travelling. - Old world charm. Large bedroom and bathroom. Parking and breakfast included was appreciated. Pub downstairs is great! Nothing. Enjoyed the stay.
- Beverley (8/5): Well located, clean with breakfast - In centre of town, walk to restaurants & shops. Parking easy. Breakfast a bonus. Access via stairs, no lift.
- Jane (8/5): -
- ian (8/5): - Room was spacious and clean and staff were friendly, location was great. Shower had no power and came out like a dribble, also had scaffolding on the outside of our room
- Belinda (10/5): Perfect one night stay. - Perfect location for us as we were staying one night. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely! You must eat dinner here also, the food was delicious. Could have quite happily stayed here longer.
- steve (10/5): Really nice people, good food and comfortable stay - Friendly staff, great food and comfortable setting A little dated, however it is being tidied up
- Christine (8/5): -
- Francis (7/5): Charming but in need of renovation. - Great location and lovely characterful heritage building. It was quite noisy (probably due to an old temperature regulating system?) and had awful water pressure.
- Heinz Patrik (10/5): Erstklassige und sehr zentrale Unterkunft - Schöne zentrale Unterkunft, nette Mirarbeiter, super Essen
- wilma (9/5): We loved staying there and definitely would again - We loved that we were staying in a historic pub with comfortable rooms and lovely restaurant It was a very warm humid night and being an old hotel it doesn’t have air conditioning. There was a feeling fan and upright fan but the room didn’t cool down. Not the pub’s fault just the weather!
- Annette (10/5): -
- susan (8/5): -
- Martin (9/5): Great location and friendly staff - Check in was quick and easy. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was a good size. Room was a bit warm to start but soon cooled down once the aircon got going.
- Christopher (9/5): AN EXCELLENT STAY IN A GOOD LOCATION - Rutland Arms is an excellent period hotel with modern facilities. The room was large, well appointed and comfortable, however, a possible shortcoming was that it did not have air conditioning and it was a warm night. Open windows and ceiling fan were sufficient although noise from outside was evident. The continental breakfast was very good. Given that the hotel is in the centre of town the location was excellent. Car parking was also available. Value was excellent and we enjoyed our stay. Nothing given the period nature of the hotel.
- Mark (6/5): - Room was comfortable as I only had a 2 night stay. The shower was very poor and you wouldn't want to have long hair etc. as would be near impossible to rinse. I had a continental breakfast included but on last day opted for a cooked breakfast but disappointed that none of the expense for continental couldn't contribute towards the cost of cooked.

- Mouland (8/5): -
- john (8/5): -
- Paul (9/5): Centrally located, period property hotel…worth a visit! - Lovely big room in a lovely period property in the centre of town. Very popular restaurant tells the tale…good food on-site as well. Nothing

- Kim (10/5): Great - Third stay. Great accom, great staff, great food!
- Mary (9/5): -
- Roger (9/5): -
- Carol (9/5): Enjoyed our stay and likely to stay again in two years time when we do the same trip. - Comfortable room with a good bed. Enjoyed free parking. Our dinner was also delicious and so easy to eat where we were staying especially as the weather was inclement. Breakfast is very basic.
- Clarence (8/5): - Location No assigned parking
- Jack (9/5): - Locations great
Staff friendly
Breakfast was very good
Room pleasant Shower over the bath
- Mary (8/5): Our second visit and overall satisfied - Continental breakfast was very nice.Staff always very friendly and helpful. It’s nice to have a singulars lounge to use but furniture in there could definitely do with an update Shower lets the room experience down, water pressure is pitiful in fact probably the worst we’ve ever experienced.
