Guest Reviews
- TRACEY (8/5): - Nice property, didn't like that reception wasn't available. However the cleaning staff were very helpful.
- Wanda (10/5): - Our room was spacious and clean, the staff (Eve) was very helpful and we thank her for looking after us.
- Jessica (8/5): - Staff were very helpful and accommodating.
- Roger (8/5): - No towel rails lots of mozzies inside room one dinner plate
- Mercy (4/5): - It seems that the room has been neglected…no hooks or racks for the towels….this is just a little thing but after having a shower and no rack for the towels to hang not good…overall I will say the room needs TLC
- john (6/5): Accomodating - Great service from Eve. First room had very poor wifi. She moved me to another room and the wifi was better so I could complete my work.
Hopefully the NBN coming to town will improve all rooms to meet customer expectations.
- Paul (10/5): - Needs exhaust fan in bathroom and hooks or rails for towels , bed was a little too firm, kettle could have been put on a tray on top of fridge for convenience.
- Michael (8/5): - Very nice place to stay but if I had to pick one thing that would be no where to hang our towels after a shower
- Bob (6/5): - Had to go to motel next door to check in no where in Bathroom area to hang towels
- tauri (8/5): - Had recently been renovated, so was in excellent condition, however, missing towel rail in bathroom to hang towel
- Anne (10/5): - Very good thank's
- Mervyn (8/5): - There wasn’t any thing I liked about the motel
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Tree scrapping noises and animals on the roof all night.
Overall site is neglected
- Lynda (10/5): - The adjacent restaurant had a great atmosphere and staff and wonderful menu options
- rhonda (6/5): - Rooms appeared to be recently renovated however there wasn't any towel racks in bathroom. No room cleaning over 3 nights.
Had to request replacement towels. There was a door leading out to garden area but locked so no access
- Ian (10/5): - It was what we wanted all good
- Jessica (10/5): - Amazing shower!
- Alleisha (8/5): - Very good check in and friendly hotel, the bed was just full of black human hair which was very off putting as it made it not feel clean. The bed was comfortable and it was great that the hotel was pet friendly as i was travelling with my poodle.
The TV digital channels kept loading every 30 seconds to a minute so i was unable to watch TV. But despite this i would still stay again, it was a lovely hotel in a good location with a nice check in and out system that was friendly.
- 538LindaC (4/5): Read this before you book - Renovations happening but not too noisy.
Newly renovated room with no wardrobe or drawers to store items. No bathmat provided. Not close to shops or places to buy milk. No vending machines. No information provided about local eateries or a map of locality. No safe. Not wheelchair friendly as most of the road is unpaved.
Beds comfortable with crisp linen. Large bathroom with super large shower head.
Flies galore! No one at reception at Albert Park motel. Not what I was expecting, but convenient to Qantas museum & Stockmans Hall of Fame.
- brian (8/5): - checkin and out by email and lock code; good space and well setup
- O9062PGjohnp (8/5): Good place to stay in Longreach - Large freshly renovated room with large bathroom. All the usual appliances with a new fridge
Big king sized bed very comfortable. Air conditioning worked very well.
Close to town. Plenty of space around. Pet friendly.
QANTAS museum and Stockman's Hall of Fame walking distance.
- Jay (8/5): - Not a bad place, hard to review when confined to only 5 ratings:
- convenient
- slightly dated room but efforts had been made to update.
- updated bathroom, good shower pressure and rain drop shower head.
- room seating needed to have a few tools thrown over them. Loose bolts.
- A/C fan had a rattle at all speeds.
- TV remote worked the room next doors TV as theirs did mine. T20 won out🏏 manager was reviewing in the morning.
- comfy bed with noisy sheets, can’t complain because that means clean.
Was really a stop over on a road trip. Would stay there again.
- Kylie (6/5): - The stay was fine but the room was just a bit tired.
- Geoffrey (10/5): - Room large, need some repairs, sliding door to rear needed new wheels very hard to open. Over all good for 1 night
- Luke (10/5): - Good for a one night stay. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean
- aussie_shark_girl (10/5): pleasantly surprised, spacious & modern comfort - • Great location on the outer part of town – adjacent to a huge park, convenient to walk my dog
• Massive room with king size & single beds – so much space for my dog’s bed
• Huge bathroom – the biggest shower I have seen in a motel!
• Plenty of space in the room – shame to only be staying for a single night, would make a comfortable base for exploring the region
• Nice cold split system air conditioning
- Michael (8/5): - Within easy walking distance of both the QANTAS Museum and the Stockmans Hall of Fame. No reception on site, but easy check in via SMS. Good sized room, but starting to show its age.
- Terence (6/5): - This is my honest to goodness review. An outdated and tired motel run by other hotel, no reception. Aircon is good, bed is okay, warm shower and fridge are very nice. We stayed for 4 nights, we thought should be cleaned daily only rubbish was taken out.Only 2 Tea bags so we buy our own.Dont used the toaster as dirty and rusty. Bring a fly/ mozzie spray as mosquitoes is plenty.Hotel needs to be renovated. Very pricey for daily rate stay. Should looked somewhere else next time.
- Michael (10/5): - Easy parking and really good staff
- Simon (6/5): - Room was tired / expensive for condition
- Wendy (4/5): - Couldn’t access room had to go get a key. Fridge was not working. Milk in fridge ready to explode. Bath mat dirty. Hair on the shower floor.
- Alison (4/5): - The property was dirty with mould in she shower and in fact, it had a very used block of soap still in the shower.
There were also blowflies coming from somewhere in the bathroom, I killed about six of them.
The pipes also rattled badly and only stopped when I turned on and off the taps.
It was one of the cheaper options, but it wasn’t bargain priced and I didn’t feel I got good value for money.
- Rob (10/5): - .
- Alison (8/5): - A convenient location and value for money
- Garth (8/5): - We did not see any staff and the combination door lock was hard to operate and toilet dripped all the time.
- Judith (8/5): - Convenient and good value.
Although the facility is “tired” it was comfortable and suited our requirements.
We really appreciated the extended checkout and complementary transport to the airport
- Kerrie (8/5): - Good location. Quiet room.
- Mary (10/5): - This motel is ‘automated’…no reception…but everything is spotless and welcoming.
- rob (4/5): - Outdated with virtually no facilities. Carpet needs replacing. Wifi did not connect. Suitable for this visit as only needed a room and bed
- Toni (8/5): - Nice garden area to sit & enjoy, rooms were a good size. But, not very clean, bathroom was dirty, mould. The beds were comfortable, but we woke up with itchy bites & felt like something was crawling over you during the night.
- Thomas (6/5): - Without courtesy bus, It would be unsuitable for those on foot.
- Ashley (8/5): Pet friendly - Easy and convenient being pet friendly
- Kylie (10/5): Comfortable - Nice place to stay for the night and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would stay again
- Trail634912 (2/5): Disgusting - This place is totally out of service, the motel does not have supervision since the reception is located in the other motel. We traveled for 12 hours and when we arrived the room was smelly and the worst thing was the bathroom was unsanitary, the shower was terrifying and me with a 9 year old child was exposing him to catching any skin disease. pay to live a nightmare
- Z9130WYcraigj (2/5): Don’t stay here! - Dirty, walls cracked, cockroaches. If you book don’t get room 20. The bathroom is disgusting, very dirty never ever again. Don’t believe the photos! Even the tv points towards the floor as it’s had a dodgy repair, door to outside patio (if you call it that) doesn’t open castors are stuffed. Only stayed as we were exhausted by the time we got there.
- Jenni (6/5): - Clean. I booked specifically for the use of WiFi and it wasn't available. No reception on-site made me feel unsafe. No fan in the bathroom meant the air in the room became damp after a shower
- Clive (6/5): - Not impressed by the whole establishment appears to be let run down, on my room, luckily my partner noticed it there was a hole panel of the glass sliding door missing, rang reception and the girl came out and swapped us over to another room. One can only imagine what would have happened if we had not noticed half the door was missing. Not impressed and will not be staying there again.
- kylie (10/5): - Super easy checkin as we didn't arrive till later in the evening. Have stayed at Jumbuk before and we chose them again for this reason. Beds were uncomfortable this time - too firm.. Other than that it was all good. However, if you are arriving into Longreach later in the evening, be aware that there probably won't be anywhere for you to eat. Lady at local pub was gracious enough to let us buy $30 worth of packet chips, a packet of beer nuts and some beef jerky for the 3 of us to share for dinner.
- Lorraine (6/5): - The bed was too hard. Might just as well sleep on the ground.
- Jane (10/5): - One of the few pet-friendly places that don't relegate you to an unrefurbished room! It looked like a NORMAL motel room, it was lovely! Quite spacious too with a nice grassed area to go out on for your pup, and watch the kangaroos from the glass doors. :D
Walking distance to the airport/Qantas museum if that's your thing.
- Paula (2/5): Avoid!! - This place was NOTHING like what advertised, don't book. You check yourself in so there is also no-one to complain too.
- Daniel (8/5): - Accommodation was neat and quiet
- Andrew (10/5): - Couldn’t fault this accom at all for our 1 night in a longreach. Clean and tidy rooms. And not an issue at all. Pleasure to rest of heads here
- Daimen (4/5): - Room was not worth the money charged. Dated and in disrepair
- thomas (6/5): - The property has obviously been lovely in the past but now is managed offsite. Many disadvantages, but the view from our room was pleasant and we enjoyed our stay in Longreach.
- 931deeanneg (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - Bed bugs was the first of many horrors at this place. I hardly slept at all.
Dirty room- it looked as though the area around the fridge had never been cleaned. Ants- lots of them.
Mosquitoes- lots of them in the room as well even though I only had the door open momentarily suggesting they were in there already.
Uninterested staff upon check in which had to be done at the next door hotel.
Ridiculous amount of money for a dated, unclean and non maintained room. No love at all in anything they do.
Do not stay here!!
- Adam (2/5): - If you enjoy paying a lot of money to spend the night with bed bugs, ants and mosquitoes then this is the place for you. Crazy amount of money for the room give its condition and facilities. You would be better off sleeping in your car honestly
- Thomas (6/5): - No staff on property and general maintenance not up to a good standard.
- Jenn (2/5): - I booked through Wotif and am unable to get a refund. I did not stay at Jumbuk. Very disappointing as I still cannot make contact with Wotif. Will never use again. I admit I did not see the no refund policy but tried almost immediately to make contact.
- Graham (2/5): - The air conditioner was faulty, i needed to use the spoons in a packet to put in the vent so the air would circulate in the room. For a country motel the price was way too high considering the ageing condition of the motel. I would expect more value in the package such as a supplied meal
as well the rooms are quite small barely swing a cat in the one i had.
i would certainly not be recommending this motel to anyone i talk to in the future
- Karen (10/5): - Easy online check in, close to town, comfy beds, lovely toiletries, the lady on reception was fantastic and smiley.
- Raylene (4/5): - The first room you couldn’t secure it the sliding doors lock was broken.
The lovely lady moved us to a second room
which was ok but you brought red dirt in as there was no door mat to clean your shoes, the tap in the basin was coming off
- Cheryl (6/5): - Felt it wasn’t maintained, inside and out , our room had not been vacuumed before our stay , no reception at property , still reasonably expensive though
- John (6/5): - Receptioin was in another motel which was a 200 meter walk away.
Had to put up with a guests dog barking during the evening dark hours.
- 326MichaelD326 (4/5): Not the best - My wife and I stayed for four nights. We found the room very old and ran down. For example, we could not open the glass sliding door as the rollers were worn down. Plus there is no Flyscreens, it would pay if they cleaned the room every now and then .
Wi-Fi is terrible I could not connect. Also there was no staff at the motel all we had was a mobile telephone number.
The motel definitely overpriced .
- Anne (8/5): - Sent a message to the next door reception Re wi fi but didn’t receive an answer otherwise ok for a dog friendly motel otherwise ok
- Alexander (4/5): - I have stayed at the Jumbuck several times over the last 45 years and was disappointed with the surrounding and the way the property is managed . The bathroom door was broken and the sliding back door was dragging and difficult to open we were going to use the BBQ but it was filithy it was not good value extremely disappointed . No way I could I recommend the Jumbuck in its present condition
- Thebreadvan (10/5): Outback hospitality at its best! - My husband and I recently found ourselves stranded in Longreach over Easter without transport and a hell of a lot of luggage. We were terrified we might end up sleeping in a park! Fortunately, the Jumbuck had a room available and the manager Don, could not have been more helpful. He provided a solution to the dilemma of our luggage and offered moral support during our time of crisis. This is what outback hospitality should be! We'd give this place ten stars if it was possible. Thanks again Don.
- A2709OImelissam (6/5): Better than expected but a few concerns - Okay, so a lot of reviews are horrific about this motel. First things first - ask for a renovated room. They’re really comfortable. The pool was also clean and lovely.
The problem is a lack of upkeep. Our room had an ant problem and the bbq was disgusting and had no tools. We were offered use of the neighbouring motel’s and it was almost as bad.
Anyway for a motel you can stay at with your dog, if you get a renovated room it’s decent. The room itself? Great. So if you plan to eat in town you’ll be fine.
- Jia Han (10/5): - Ease of check in. Got a text about which room. Room entry is using a keypad to enter a number code. No physical keys. Spacious room. There is a microwave and cutleries available. There was no washing up liquid to clean after use though.
- Louise (2/5): - Booked for 3 people, only found towels and cups for 2. Rang and emailed to get the missing items: no aknowledgement. Shouldn't have bothered because shower stank badly and was filthy. Have photo proof. Needless to say we didn't use the shower. Bottom Single bed had hairs on sheets and top bunker bed had a dirty pillow case. Other pillow cases and bed spreads were soiled. There were dead insects in the bathroom. Only stayed because we had driven all day, paid $206!!!!!! and everywhere else was booked. Ended up bringing in our own bedding so we could sleep. Never again and would like a refund. Will contact ombudsman with receipts and photo evidence of the disgusting conditions of the place to sort this matter out. If you're coming to Longreach, book in advance and definitely not the Jumbuck. Wotif should also be more discerning about the places they accept bookings for. A total let down from the motel and the booking app.
- Rae (2/5): - Overpriced room. Shower in need of urgent repairs. Water goes everywhere. Toilet broken. Wifi not functioning. Rang office at the property next door. They were no help. Room didn’t get cleaned in the 5 nights I was there. An unmanned property if you need anything like to use the laundry you need to drive to the next property to use theirs. Very dirty and dusty room. Would not recommend this property at all. In need of a lot of maintenance. Stayed in better outback pubs. Do yourself a favour, keep driving past the Jumbuck.
- Dave (10/5): - Quite and very accessible
- G1845JQmarks (2/5): A major disappointment - Reception was at another motel so you get a code for your door , no reception or security on site. The restaurant is not open anymore. That is the good part.
No wifi reception, no towels and the shower head fell off when taking a shower . What a disappointing place to stay .
Sent a message to reception about issues but no reply. Not interested?
- Scenic30657845333 (2/5): BAD motel - This place is a hole the pool and pool ground where dirty .the toilets to the pool haven't been cleaned at all. Our room was full of beds couldn't move 😕 there was only 3 of us 1 roll of toilet paper bathroom dirty the beds where not to bad But the pillows so hard we had to go down town and buy our own pillow. Our first night there we where the only people there. We where in the last row of rooms No out side lights. No body is running this place only a person on the phone. The nices bit was the green grass out the front of this motel and the money you pay for this place OMG
- debbietF7120UA (2/5): Travelling through as a couple. - So disappointing. Actually disgraceful. It is very overpriced. The front door didn’t work, went to open the sliding door, the handle fell off in my hand. Went to use the toilet beside the pool as I couldn’t get into my room, it was dirty. Leaves a very bad impression of Longreach.
- robertpP1251XW (4/5): Customer service awful - Check-in is at another location further along the road. Check-in was slow, and the person uninformed and confused as to the group booking I was included in. The room appeared to have been recently "refreshed". The bench top had been painted, and although the paint was dry, it was sticky to touch and a plastic bag placed on it lifted the paint when removed. There was no internet in my motel unit, however at the other end of the units I could access the motel's internet and also at the check-in facility. For the first couple of days I raised this with motel management who said they would fix it. By the third day they became very defensive and on the fourth day outright aggressive at their approach to me, despite me remaining calm. On check-out the man at the desk aggressively raised his voice when I expressed disappointment at the lack of internet and told me it was everyone else's fault but not there's, and in the process was extremely rude. I will choose not to stay at this place again.
- Beboldalways (10/5): Excellent in every way - Can't fault The Jumbuck. And if you're travelling with dogs, this is the place to stay. Lovely garden setting. Brilliant location close to the Qantas Museum and Stockmans Hall of Fame and minutes from the shopping strip. Clean, spacious freshly refurbished room and a comfortable king size bed. The management and staff are friendly and helpful and best of all there's a large, fully fenced and totally safe manicured lawn area for dogs to free roam. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend
- Hayleyacq (10/5): Great stay thank you - These rooms were great. Newly renovated rooms are fantastic. King bed very comfortable. Even though office wasn’t on site staff are super helpful. Room was clean and tidy. With room for Our little one to play.
- lisabV8407JL (2/5): Rip Off - Booked this Motel and stayed 1 night (thank god) in May 2022 in Longreach, Qld photos online obviously other motel (very deceiving advertising), as it turns out all photos were of Albert Park Motor Inn, just down the road (NO PHOTOS REPRESENTING JUMBUCK MOTEL. The $284!!!!! for 1 night we paid no vehicle cover parking. parked on dirt (the place looked abandoned when we arrived). No upkeep on property. No staff onsite.
Owned by same person as Albert Park Motor Inn. Advertised laundry on site. Laundry didn't work, had to drive to Albert Park Motor Inn down the road. Apparently our Jumbuck establishment welcomed pets, when I looked at the glass door (needed Arnold Schwarzenegger to open the glass door, when pulling back the curtains could see all the dear little pets prints all over the glass. Certainly wasn't cleaned!!!!!! Couldn't find the crockery, cutlery when I rang to find out could we get any for breakfast she told me it was all in the microwave as they have ghekkos. Oh! and I took a video of the toilet (NOISE) after flushing it. OMG!!! Beware of this establishment and the owner, what a rip off. So, so sorry we stayed here.
- AnnieC1683 (10/5): Great stay - Checked in for 2 nights and REALLY appreciated the king size bed! Clean, quiet and comfortable. Friendly & attentive staff. I would highly recommend.
Close to everything and we could have our dog stay with us.
- colincN6960MT (2/5): Disappointing - Room was old and outdated. Biscuits half eaten by mice, stain chair and carpets. Bed covers don’t fit the bed. Fridge was really loud. All for $284/ night talk about being ripped.
Air conditioner was newish and water was hot. Some days bed wasn’t even made
- donnabK8969YA (2/5): Worst Hotel experience ever - This hotel is expensive at $258 per night. The rooms were dirty, no fly screens on windows or the sliding door. The room smelt like sewerage. They have recently painted the rooms and there was black paint all over the floors. We had booked for 2 nights and unfortunately had to stay the 2nd night. The only thing that was serviced when the room
Was cleaned was that the bath mat was changed. Beds weren’t made and no clean towels were left. I do not recommend this hotel at all. We have stayed in a lot of hotels and this would have to be the worst one. An extremely bad experience for longreach.
- Angwilbuf (2/5): Worst and most Expensive motel stay in outback Queensland - Absolutely horrible & at $199 a night to walk into a dilapidated dirty I was furious!
Building really needs to be knocked down or refurbished entirely.
Note it is also contacted to the Abakaz, Albert Park & Outback Adventures Motor Inn.
The only reception is at the Albert Park site and they are extremely unorganised.
Would not recommend this place to stay, I would look elsewhere outside of these four places.
- Bernard (6/5): - Sadly, the Jumbuck Hotel is looking a bit neglected and tired. Bathroom hairdryer had a lot of ‘red dust’, and the main brick wall seemed to have Spaulding at the far end! Bed was comfortable though!
Pool also had significant amount of silt/sediment on the floor making it questionable to swim in.
- james (6/5): - The property was run down , we could see thought structural damage in bricks into another room
- Donna (4/5): disgusting - Room was spacious but tired looking. The chairs in the room were absolutely disgusting. The mirror in the bathroom was dilapidated, no cutlery or crockery. sliding door wouldn’t slide. I certainly wouldn’t recommend this motel to anyone
- Tom (6/5): - Lack of direct on site contact with management. Not able to contact them directly by phone. Lack of in room amenities - 4 electrical appliances with one power point: 1 wine glass only 1 water glass only. Had to physically leave the site to contact management re rectifying these problems. Very overpriced for what you got.
- Joshua (2/5): - Mays well have slept in the
- Peter (2/5): Where is that WIFI you advertised? - Motel advertises that it has WIFI. The alleged wifi only worked for us when we left our room and sat in the reception area of the adjacent motel
, the Albert Park motel. Jumbuck is run by the Albert Park. In the room, the main window curtain was ripped from its rail and had been very roughly rehung. It didn’t work. Our window curtain was useless. Four appliances provided (tv, toaster, microwave and kettle) but only one single power point within that proximity. No breakfast or dinner restaurant or sit down eatery within a a 30 minute walk, but Harry’s restaurant will come and collect you for a dinner service. Only Telstra works out here, but there is a free phone box very close by to the motel. Constantly dripping taps in the bathroom…very noisy. Bed was good, pillows too flat, fridge was good size. Not a room I will stay in again.
- Ruth (8/5): - Look there are bad reviews for this place but it was clean inside. Outside is dirt driveways. No views from the room if you're at the back. Wifi is unreliable. Make sure you don't pay a premium price to stay here
- Graeme (8/5): - It was very good
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The parking at the front door was on uneven ground, what looked like was once paved is now uneven gravel surface. very difficult for someone elderly, unsteady on their feet.
The room was listed as an executive twin room. We were either given the wrong room or the executive days had long gone. The shower area needed a good scrub, the floor waste to handle any overflow was taped over to possibly contain an odour.
Only one of the fluro lights over the bench with the toaster and microwave worked. The general condition of the room was poor with the join between the ceiling and wall cracking and coming apart.
Ringing reception only got a recorded message so it was a case of driving 200 meters down the road to Albert Park Motel were reception is located.
WiFi is terrible. Very hard to get reception and keeps dropping out. definitely overpriced.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - No separate reception office available
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Was a bit worried about staying here having read prior reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. If you're expecting a 5 star resort, of course you'll be let down; this is stock standard outback motel. There's evidence that they are making positive changes such as a stack of new mattresses that had been delivered and the modern (and working) split system and microwave in my room. I saw cleaning being done and the pool was tested and cleaned the day I arrived. Sure, the wifi doesn't work but does it ever in bush motels? (I noted the router was about 4 rooms down from mine). Jumbuck may have been left to rot in the past, but someone's spending some money to try and resuscitate it. Work in progress, but don't fear staying here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Breakfast included.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Very old motel bad sign when you first walk in and you see a can of bug spray on the fridge cockroaches were having a party in the bathroom in the early morning very disappointing for what you pay
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Spacious rooms. Outdated decor. No wifi despite advertising that they had it and us asking about it
... very unhelpful staff. Jumbuck seems to be the poor cousin to the neigbouring hotel that operates Jumbuck Hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Quiet
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Beds are terrible, to charge 199 for a night i really expect to have a decent bed. place is so outdated incredible
