- Rosalie (8/5): - Very comfortable accommodation in the Boronia Chalet. Kitchen well equipped and really appreciated the daily breakfast supplies included in our package. Beds very comfortable and great views across the harbor and it was lovely to see the pademelons come across our lawn each day. Great customer service by the owners as well as the cleaning lady. Only negative is the shower being over the bath which doesn’t cater for those with limited mobility. It would better to just have a walk in shower. Additional outdoor chairs would also be great to accomodate when more than 2 guests staying. Apart from this we had a great time staying at the GG and would recommend.

- Tamasine (10/5): - The A frame cottage is situated on a hill overlooking Macquarie Harbour, with stunning views from the lounge and bedroom windows over to the town. the cottage had everything we needed for a home away from home. With many eating and tourist attractions close by, we spent four days and three nights touring the area, could’ve happy spent longer.

Blanket grubby, no mattress protector on single bed. No split system a/c. Gift basket was nice touch. Reception area not in use and was a total mess, gave an unprofessional feel to hotel.

- Thomas (10/5): - Lovely family run property, super friendly owner and staff. Looks like there is some ongoing renovations happening in the “suites” building (no impact on our stay). Loved the spa, especially loved the welcome breakfast amenities which were renewed each day. Great situation with views across the cove to the township, wonderful to see the river cruise boats leave and arrive. Easy 20-25 min walk into town for meals and river cruises, 10-15 min walk to the wilderness train station. Small kitchenette with microwave and access to BBQ for home meal preparation, the only sink for washing up is the vanity. We would certainly recommend GG’s and would stay there again.

It was up a hill about 5minutes drive from central esplanade.

However, the GG has no concept of room cleaning apart from putting in fresh towels and emptying garbage, they don’t touch anything - bed, crockery, cutlery- all remain untouched or even put in place. Finding it is a bit tricky as there appears to have been some slight changes to the name and it's hard to be sure that you're heading to the right spot. But once you're there it's really enjoyable.

My biggest gripe is that our room was Not serviced (we were out all day), and no fresh towels were provided. On speaking with reception they forgot to tell us the Room wasn’t serviced 😡 and they had run out of towels (they ended up getting them from another venue)... really not acceptable for $285 a night.

Room was a good size, very clean and had a great balcony to look out over the bay. The property is quite nice, and well maintained, it’s just looking a little tired, in need of a little tlc. I still loved the place, and would defiantly stay there again should I visit Strahan.

- Christina (8/5): Hidden Gem - Love staying at Gordon Gateway Chalets. It is quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Although the first night did not have a heater or electric blanket, this was rectified the next day with a heater being provided. Yes, place is older and little run down but I hear that it will be having some updating done shortly. Love the size of the rooms - kitchen (no stove). The view is beautiful and it is a hidden gem. Will be going back to stay as the rates are very reasonable compared to most overpriced rates in Strahan.
