Centrally located in Greytown and the Wairarapa, this is a great central touring point, easily accessible from Wellington. 258andreww (10/5): White Swan impresses even more on a second stay. - We stayed at the White Swan for my birthday. We had a dinner and room package which also included a breakfast. The staff were really helpful and friendly and nothing was too much. We stayed in the Homestead Room. Its a very nice large room we couldn't believe how big it was . Quite and comfortable. The dinner was superb while they dont do a wine recommendation we asked and the waitress / checked us in/ checked us out brought up breakfast ( she seemed to do every thing) made recommendations for us. The wines were matched beautifully full points. Breakfast was lovely local produce. This was a great sty very relaxed really comfortable and great value for money. The location is superb. We have stayed before and would stay aagin. We left our Jackets in the wardrobe they responded to our email and sent the jackets by courier free of charge. Its a great experience and you should stay there!

I stayed one night to attend a friend's birthday drinks - also at the hotel. It was a stunning day and the garden bar out the back was a perfect private venue, plenty of seating, shade and green, and a private bar. I got upgraded to the Homestead room which was palatial and beautifully presented. It was lovely to have a cup of tea in the sun on the deck in the morning. All the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Highly recommended, I wish my husband could have been there with me!

991stuartc (8/5): Our go to place to stopover. - My wife and I both had excellent meals on arrival from the bar menu delivered to our room. Friendly staff and a lovely clean and well appointed room. Very comfortable bed so a very restful night. Greytown is a lovely small town with well kept up buildings and a good variety of businesses to satisfy most visitors.

BigSamG (10/5): You really can’t get better than this! - Wonderful evening at the White Swan. Have visited before and usually eat in the restaurant, but decided to try the gastro menu this time and we were not disappointed! Two of us shared the Butcher’s Board, followed by some exquisite desserts. Food was amazing, matched only by the superb service and extensive drinks selection. Thank you, we’re already looking forward to our next visit!
sue (5/5): Disappointing, new staff in the bar, really stuffed up both our drinks and food order and room noisy - Loved the room and decor. It was very very noisy. I've stayed here at the Homestead before and haven't had any noise issues, but I wouldn't book Hunter again.

Judie Alison (10/5): A delightful stay in the Wairarapa - Breakfast is delivered to your room. I was a bit disappointed about this at first, because I love hotel breakfasts with lots of choices, fresh coffee, etc. However the breakfast delivered was lovely: granola, fruit, yoghurt, a coffee plunger to make fresh in your room, croissant, butter, jam. There was a card showing they were all local products which was good advertising for Wairarapa businesses. The room I had was in an annex and upstairs. I had plenty of help getting my suitcase and breakfasts up the stairs. I had windows on one side and a balcony looking over a park on the other, with a table and chairs and very private. I tried dinner in the bar one night and in their more cordon bleu restaurant another night and both were great. The staff were all very obliging and seemed very committed to the hotel's success. I would definitely stay there again. Nothing.
JO (10/5): A wonderful place for a short getaway from Wellington. - The towels! You can always tell the quality of a place by their fluffy towels. Their staff also looked like they enjoyed working at the hotel which gave the place a lovely vibe. A small suggestion, it would be nice to have had a plunger coffee in the tea and coffee bar in the suite.

Karen (10/5): Delightful hotel in the heart of Greytown which we'd thoroughly recommend. - Beautifully appointed, spacious room on the second floor with a fabulous balcony overlooking the mainstreet. Friendly, helpful staff and the rate was extremely reasonable - we did receive an upgrade - and have previously paid more elsewhere for much less!! We'd return in a heartbeat. Nothing to not like.

Modern fittings including a great bathroom - with a bath! Huge room with a nice sitting area. Excellent restaurant on site. Who puts a low hanging pendant light directly above the sitting area. Take a helmet.

janewL7534JN (10/5): The White Swan is a treat! - What a fabulous town Greytown is and The White Swan is the perfect place to stay near to the shops and cafes. Our unique room upstairs was very comfortable and spacious opening on to a sunny balcony and all the staff were welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed dining in both the bistro and fine dining restaurants where the food was excellent. And the bar, which spills out to a large veranda, has a fun atmosphere.

Das Personal im angeschlossenen Restaurant war eher cool und im Vergleich zum Pub und Hotel wäre mehr Freundlichkeit schön gewesen. Das junge Personal im Hotel/Pub war hingegen sehr angenehm.

Top! - Old world charm, spaciousness, beauty, friendliness, comfort and delicious food - this stay gave me everything I needed after a long drive and intensive day. There’s nothing standard here, everything breathes vision, thoughtfulness and quality, from the soft carpets and luxury shower to the themed room decor. I stayed in ‘Homestead’ and loved the tasteful pictures of livestock on the walls. The ‘fish and chips’ was so simple but perfectly done. Thank you to the whole team. I really enjoyed my stay here!

It is right in he heart of the town - perfect for exploring and the very diverse and interesting shops. Upgraded to a beautiful roomy and luxurious suite, the Governers Suite, super big and comfortable bed, a lovely deep bath as well as a huge walk in shower, 2 big comfortable armchairs, lounge decorated with beautiful antiques that give this gorgeous uite a real old world charm and ambience blended with smart up to date amenities. Excellent meal and cocktail downstairs at the gastro pub bar out on the terrace under the umbrellas, many other options for where to be seated. The balcony at the front of the hotel, part of this suite is perfect. Staff are really amazing, very helpful, friendly and welcoming, they are this hotel's treasures. Everything was perfect.

Anne (10/5): Was the perfect place for us to stay and certainly added to a great few days in the Wairarapa. - The staff were lovely from the moment we arrived. We had a lovely dinner with friends in the restaurant and the room was lovely. The bed was very comfortable. Couldn’t have asked for a better location. The only down side was there was a bit of heavy traffic noise and took a bit of getting used to on the first night but the second night I slept very well.

Large balcony overlooking the main street. Good value continental breakfast delivered to the room. Thoroughly enjoyable stay. Dinner provided inspiring sharing plates. Better signage from the hotel car park into the hotel.
