• Lucy (8/5): Cool vibe, something for everyone - couples, groups to solo travellers. - Cool vibe, staff were friendly and helpful. Room got quite cold in the evening. Used the plug in heater but didn’t want to sleep with it on. Kitchen has good facilities but a big group dominated the space which was frustrating but not the hostels fault.

Close to the grocery store, a bit further away from the lake but Taupo is not that big, so it's a nice 10-minute walk :) Laundry facilities could be improved, the machines do not seem old but very used.

Free car park just in front. Just a few minutes drive from many shops. Friendly and helpful staff providing full tour around the property.

• Lotte (8/5): Great place to stay in Taupo! - Great location, comfortable bed in the private double room, fully equipped kitchen, clean bathrooms and friendly staff! In the private room, the noise of the fan from the attached room was very loud in the room itself, and the room does not have much space to store or hang your stuff.
• Nevena (8/5): Nice and short stay - We only stayed for one night but the room was very big, there was plenty of parking, nearby supermarkets, and facilities to use. It was clean and the staff was nice. We were under the impression that we would have a separate washing machine in our room. Unfortunately, not the case and it was also paid additionally, which we did not expect. There was no complimentary shower gel or shampoo in the room so bring your own.

• lucille (10/5): - Ecoutez, accueil parfait ! très bien expliqué ! les chambres entourent une court, il y'a des bancs, hamacs, de la végétation ! j'ai beaucoup apprécié, même sous la pluie car les accès aux chambres sont abrités. Pouvoir profiter du wifi, assise sur un banc, en regardant la pluie tomber aprés une randonnée de 6h, c'est vraiment agréable !! rien, c'était top !

• Jendric (8/5): Solides Hostel, würde ich noch einmal buchen! - Absolut solides Hostel. Bei Regen etwas unpraktisch, da die Zimmer von außen zugänglich sind. Aber ansonsten hat man alles, was man braucht. Küche ist gut ausgestattet, es gibt eine Lounge und man hat seine eigene Kapsel. Pro 4er Zimmer hat man ein eigenes Bad. Ich hatte das wahnsinnige Glück die erste Nacht alleine zu sein. Das Hostel ist direkt neben einem Supermarkt und zu Fuß ist man in 5 Minuten an der Promenade. Die Lage ist super. Die Sauberkeit war allgemein ok, aber man merkt halt schon, dass viele Backpacker da durch gehen. An den Betten war aber nichts auszusetzen! Ich wurde auf einen Quizabend hingewiesen, der aber irgendwie nicht stattgefunden hat.

• Jens aus Gelnhausen (8/5): – we would happily stay again. - Ein unkompliziertes und entspanntes Backpacker-Hostel in Taupō. Die Atmosphäre ist sehr locker und international, wodurch man schnell mit anderen Reisenden ins Gespräch kommt. Die Lage ist gut, um den Ort und den Lake Taupō zu erkunden. Die Unterkunft ist einfach, aber sauber und gut organisiert. Für eine Nacht auf einem Roadtrip durch Neuseeland eine sehr solide und angenehme Wahl. Not much that detracted from our overall experience

• Terri (6/5): Budget, bring ear plugs and not very much luggage. - Convenient location, comfy beds, tidy. Our room was so tiny there was barely room on the floor for 2 bags, and no hooks to hang anything. Door to shared bathroom area was extremely heavy (fire door) and difficult for my 80+ year old travel companion to open. They slam quite loudly when closing, so any of the guests in the other 2-3 rooms using the bathroom woke you up. Our room was located near the entrance to the complex and next to the office, so foot traffic was also noisy across the wooden decking. Did not get much sleep. No air conditioning or ventilation so the room was very stuffy. A small table fan sat next to the pillow of one bed, making it noisy to run for that guest, and with the only window opening up into the courtyard and foot traffic, getting dressed for bed at night or in the morning felt very exposed, especially since the window curtain didn’t have the best coverage. The outside door to the room was glass with a curtain, which we propped open to get some much needed air into the room. This also left you feeling exposed, as people passing by tended to look in both the door and window. The other rooms might be better placed, but ours felt like a broom closet along a busy walkway.

• Ewan (9/5): Finlay Jack's is a nice place to stay, meet other travelers and enjoy Taupo and the surrounding area - I forgot my rain jacket at the hostel. The staff was very nice and mailed it to me. The cleanliness could have been a bit better, but overall the hostel was great.

Stairs not a ladder to get to the top bunk. Capsule was high enough to sit up. Largest space I've had in a capsule or bunk bed. There was a foot of space beside the bed, places to hang things, charging plug and USB. Clean, private, spacious. Several places to relax. Outdoor tables, hammocks, library and TV room, dining area. Interesting activity each day to try and to meet other guests. A board with 20 suggestions of free or cheap things to do was really helpful. My friends and I did several of them. No freezer. Found out after I bought a frozen meal for the next day. However it's a 2 minute walk to a huge supermarket, so I didn't need to buy the meal in advance.
