Guest Reviews
- Myung Kyu (2/5): - Dirty, you'll get skin infections from even touching the furniture.
- Don (2/5): - Run down dirty lack of maintenance and over priced
- Wayne (4/5): - The room service never took place during our stay. The air con remote was not in the room and unit was running full, asked the owner for a remote an was told it would be out in room when it’s being serviced.
7.30pm upon arriving back at room, service had not been undertaken
- Angela (10/5): - Beautiful established gardens leading in to front main entrance.
Welcoming and friendly reception, thank you Maureen & Bronwyn.
We were in unit 6 was clean and tidy with fresh linen sheets towels.
Couple of things:
When you open the front door straight ahead on wall you see black marks.
Have stayed many times here but there were no outside table & chairs to sit on while enjoying outside view having a spa.
Pool area stunning garden pots with beautiful tropical plants shrubs & flowers. Very inviting and lovely.
There are broken and loose tiles at the top deep end of pool that need immediate repair for the safety of our children and elderly.
While my children were swimming for hours until dark we also noticed for safety of others wouldn’t be bad idea to put more lighting opposite laundry room to the left the step and ramp need to be made visible at night also walking up the ramp and around the whole perimeter of the pool make it brighter and easier to see.
Last but not least the whole outside exterior needs a good clean water blasted from top to bottom the entire property fences decks annual spring clean thanks.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Parakai Lodge hope you don’t mind our feedback look forward to our next visit thank you.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not worth the price - Studio was not clean at all. The bedsheats were full of stains and the cutlery looked unwashed. Furthermore it smelled like old smoke in the hole room. Wouldn‘t stay there again.
- Domenico (6/5): - Hotel was listed as adults only with a restaurant. There was no restaurant and there were children running around the place! We didn’t particularly care if it was adults only or not but when something is advertised as that then you expect it!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ideal location for thermal pools - The ladies there were super helpful when we only had one glass and the toaster was broken, but the air con didn’t work and the cooker hob was broken so that it would be dangerous to use two of the rings. We couldn’t use the guest laundry so had to use a laundromat nearby and the swimming pool was being treated and out of action during our stay. Good location - walking distance to thermal pools. Would recommend Palm Springs as Parakai Springs needs attention.
- William (10/5): Hot Tub Time Machine - Great private hot tub with geothermal spring water. Comfy bed that you will want to take home
- Michele (8/5): - We hadn't been to the area before and had a very enjoyable stay. The room was spacious and clean. The grounds are lovely, and the hot pool was a bonus. The rooms and the room servicing could use some attention to detail but when we asked for supplies, the staff were really helpful and friendly. Would stay there again.
- Paige (2/5): - One of the worst places i’ve ever stayed. The room had holes in the walls, bugs everywhere and was very dirty. The ‘premium hot tub’ was empty and dirty. We requested late check in and were told the wrong room number, having to chase staff down at 9:30pm because the man who answered the reception phone had not communicated to the staff on site. Additionally no one was at reception for check out. We requested a seperate bed and when we got there it was just one bed. Every single part of this stay was disappointing and I would not recommend any one stay here unless you want unacceptable service, a dirty room and no communication. Unbelievable.
- Cole (10/5): - The pool and hot tub were great
- Amanda (10/5): - Was very quiet, i enjoyed that most. Very clean, .. only thing our room was missing was a tea towel
- scott (2/5): - I arrived at parakai springs the lady at counter had taken the full 280.00 dollers out of my accountas i was only supposed to be charge177.00 from you guys ,when questioned about it she said we had to sort it with exspedia and would not give her bosses number or would not make contact with exspedia, she then payed the 280.00 back in cash, we did not stay we were very angry as it was my partners 50th birthday, she had taken money 280.00 dollers out of my account with out my approval. As i said she then gave it back in cash i not happy
- ANN (8/5): - Room was have nice just need to be aired out a bit
- John (8/5): - It was we expected it clean the bed was comfortable and the Lady at the front desk was very pleasant.
- John (8/5): - The spa was an absolute winner.
Kithchen and equipment... stove, fridge and cutlery.... dismal.
Would go again for the sia... I'd take my own utensils.
- Nicolette (10/5): - I love the private pools outside room
- Tim (10/5): - The room, the natural private pool
The noise from the room above was a downer.
Finding it in the falling light not clearly marked not so easy.
- Karen (6/5): - This property needs work it’s a bit tired. The I internet is not good.
- Richard (2/5): - This property looks great, unfortunately when we arrived there was no one in the office, no one available on phone. Hung around for a bit trying to sort it out. Finally got a call later but it was getting late so we had to find somewhere else. They agreed to refund booking. Still no refund. Wotif impossible to get a hold of on chat or phone. Heard nothing. A total lack of care on both parts.
- Josephine (8/5): Parakai retreat - Room clean, selection of good bath towels.
AMAZING private spa bath - very relaxing.
Fairly quiet considering property was full for a long weekend.
Bed just a bit too soft for me.
Property hard to find - the signage is flush against the building and blocked from view by large Palm Fronds. Recommend change the sign so that it can be easily read by someone in a car driving to the property.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice room, but no private spa
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Handy place to stay while working out that way. Super comfortable bed. Needed a warmer duvet though as it got fairly cold. A tad expensive for what it was but it was a nice quiet stay. Thank you
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I love everything about it.nothing bad to say about the place except my partner and I had to share a knife as there was only one.cutlery and crookery need to be updated
- Verified traveler (4/5): Wont try again. Thanks - Room was not ready, waited for 15 mins.
No extra towels.
Smell of cleaning cloth odor in the room.
Spa water not hot neither it was clean.
At the time of checkout waited for reception from 8 am to 8:20am but no one assisted.
Does not worth what they charged seemed too high for what they offered.
- Janice (10/5): - Always refreshing staying here. Had an absolutely amazing sleep, with great air con & amenities. The staff are great & very helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Facility was nice but trying to contact someone at reception was very difficult
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hot pools were great, but for the price, the room had very basic amenities. The room had no coffee mugs and when we went to reception around 6pm, there was no one around. We stayed in a downstairs room and the noise from upstairs was terrible when people are walking around or have their spa bath on, especially at 4 am.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean, modern and spacious rooms. Nice large mineral pool. A short drive to eat houses.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I stayed in room 9 the noise from the road was horrendous in the late evening the cooker had four controls 2 of the knobs where missing the room was in general was good and the outside mineral pool was nice.A little overpriced for my liking.
- Sunita (10/5): - The place was amazing, very nice, clean and tidy. Enjoyed my stay and looking forward for another visit soon 😀
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This place is a bargain.
( Some )of the staff were an absolute gem.
Property is beautiful but just recommend they make minor adjustments, Like fixing amenities (outdoor pool & spa environment)- such as more pool cleaning and fixing the spa tub.
Great Location, very Close to Helensville activities leisure shops Liquor store and take outs (walking distance).
Rooms are spacious and well designed. I do recommend you take extra towels as you do only get the one towel which you have to use for both swimming and bathing.
Overall We enjoyed ourselves.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A home away from home - This is my preferred place to stay when I visit Parakai, which I do several times a year. It is modern, spacious and comfortable. I always wish I could stay longer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Tidy and clean.. Some areas need attention like loose door handles and sticking locks. Other than that pleasant evviroment
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The spa pools were lovely, except the button for the bubbles didn't work. And the beds were very comfortable. However the rest of the experience wasn't so good. When we checked in at 2.30pm our room wasn't ready and the staff were a bit putout that we were "early". The facilities in the room were very sparse and there was no TV remote.
- K'lee63 (4/5): - The room was fine, the private hot pool of course was the drawcard. What I didn't like about the overall room, amenities etc was:
I booked the room 5 days in advance & had specifically asked for single beds which we did not get
On arrival, we checked out the pool which had been filled for us. The surrounding panels were covered in cobwebs as was the bannister around the deck area. I personally cleared the area of cobwebs as there was no way I could sit in the pool for the afternoon looking at that..most disappointing!!
The bath towels were good for using pool side but quite worn & old & made the beautiful bathroom look untidy. We (2 x females) could have done with 2 x bath towels & 2 x pool towels. 1 x towel per person for bathing & using pool side is pathetic!
The heat pump worked but only blew cold air, we could not get any heat out of it & subsequently had to get into bed to keep warm
The extractor fan in the bathroom did not work so had to open windows to clear the mist
A couple of light bulbs had blown & needed to be replaced but had not
A few scuff marks here & there on the walls made the place look old & scruffy.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Our stay was a short stay and very adequate. A little expensive
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was our second stay. Hot pool and private mineral spa are the attraction, and they are great. The room itself is clean, well appointed without being flashy. The free wifi was good enough to stream the footy and netflix. Only two small things. No spare toilet paper, which was annoying when we ran out right at the end of our stay. And the utensils were a bare minimum. Be nicer to have a couple of extra spoons for serving, and a smaller sharp knife, the only one being quite large.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Enjoyed the spa outside, we weren’t so lucky with the weather though. Although there is a shelter of some sort it still dripped through the gap. Overall enjoyed the place. Nice place to escape from reality
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Clean modern motel, close to Hellensville. Quiet, with little road noise. However, inadequate parking, meaning I had to park on the road. Good, efficient check in, but front desk un manned, unable to discuss parking issues, office locked when checking out, effectively no check out.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It was a bit disapointing
The room could have been a bit cleaner as found dead insects around the windows etc. Also there was only one side plate instead of two.
Could have done with extra towel for the spa etc.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quiet & out away from the city, maybe look at more rooms with spa pools as people like to soak in their own private spa.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I really love the hot mineral spa and jacuzzi in the bathroom. Place is clean and have a good kitchen for us to cook breakfast as limited stores around.
- Hayley (10/5): - Loved the outdoor tub, perfect place to get away and relax
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Liked the mineral Pools, even in the room. Didn’t like road noise.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Love the location..staff were friendly and helpful.. loved the room..stayed in Unit 2 around the spa pool it smelt off urine.. that was the only thing I had to complain about.. other than that our stay was awesome
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Have stayed in 2017 for week. Was excellent. Went back in 2019 for 4 nights and was disappointed with the room. No daily service. Only 2 towels not 4. Hot tub was the highlight but couldn't shower after as towels were wet. Spoke to manager on phone about servicing n towel. Replaced 2 towels with 2 dry ones and that was all there servicing. Was for 4 nights. They have gone down hill. Place un maned so could sort out issues face to face. Following week stayed at beachcombers orewa and unit was fully serviced every day, sheets changed on 3rd day. Just as it should be. Each time you returned at night it was like coming into a new unit.
- Hayley (10/5): Small town luxury - I have family in the area and this is my go-to place to stay when I’m visiting. What makes it for me is the big comfortable bed, bath, kitchenette, and fresh/new condition. I always enjoy staying here - and they now have wifi too.
- T (10/5): - great staff very welcoming, the pool was amazing, along with the outdoor spa you can't beat thermal water. room especially the bath room was so nice and clean.
- John (10/5): Thermal hot tub at Parakau Springs Motel - The facilities were very good but the thermal water hot tub mad our stay really worthwhile.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great property! Amazing price to! Loved the room and friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really cool place. Nice spa bath and the spa pool was awesome plus the bed and pillows were really comfortable. I will be going back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very comfortable room. Easy drive from Auckland Airport.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Parakai springs lodge was amazing. Clean, amenities were all available, comfortable bed, private spa was great. Suggestion would be convenient if there is a drop box outside reception hours for room keys to be placed if checking out earlier when reception is not available. Convenient store, cafe, bakery are all walking distance.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good outdoor Spring fed spa on terrace, screened fro neighbours and full sun. Small indidual garden for sitting in
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the spa and Jett tub. The area was nice and peaceful. Rooms were clean. Over all everything was great. Enjoyed the stay away from city
- Jandy (8/5): - Nice bed, spacious. Great spa. The spa could do with a little more privacy when getting in and out.
- Bryce (10/5): - Absolutely loved it & will DEFINITELY be coming back soon
- Marchfly (8/5): - We were not expected. So recommend do not book through Wotif. Wotif instruction that there is no reception is false. Luckily there was a room available. The balcony geothermal spa is terrific. Cook top and microwave in kitchen. Spa bath In bathroom. Comfortable king sized bed. Note that the deluxe rooms are upstairs and do not have the geothermal spa. Friendly staff and very clean rooms. Also has a geothermal swimming pool. Loved it!
- Mike (10/5): Nice, quiet , relaxing hotel away from town. - Very helpful staff. In room geothermal hot tubs were the best. Would happily go again.
- Gill (8/5): - A lovely , comfortable hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Good facilities at hotel and a small food store near by. Need to drive for bars/restaurants.
- Michael (10/5): Diamond. - Great hotel. Great people, great pool.
Restaurants in local area not great. Consider getting dinner before leaving Auckland.
- Wendy (8/5): Room was great but service and Internet were not. - The room was great however there was a great lack of service. The Internet and television choices were very disappointing.
- Celina (10/5): Very clean and comfortable stay very quite - Comfortable, clean modern and very quite had air conditioning which really made a difference to our stay , will keep this as our favourite place to stay in the future will be returning.
- Caro (8/5): Lovely hotel with spa facilities - Great set up in the room. It had everything we needed for a break away. Having the spa outside was a real touch of indulgence, especially as the rooms also have spa baths. We loved our stay here and would do it again.
- Neil (10/5): Great accommodation just north of Auckland - Only stayed one night. There were four of us in two rooms. The quality and comfort was outstanding. Each standard room has a spa, and there is a thermal mineral pool which is quite hot. It was very beneficial for one of our group who suffers with back pain, but a little to hot for me.
- Pau (10/5): Very amazing place, I recommend it. - I came from Auckland using public transport. I guess the staff are not used to my type of traveller. I was standing in the reception area for about 25 minutes before they realised I had arrived and ready to check in. Apart from that, it was a great experience.
- Helen (10/5): Sad to Leave! - Bar none - my favourite getaway. The room was exactly as depicted, and Jo is a fastidious cleaner - everything is kept up to date and fresh. Spacious, immaculate, comfortable and well-appointed. Maureen at the desk is that perfect balance of friendly, down-to-earth, on-to-it and approachable. I stayed for 6 nights to nut out some overdue assignments, and it was perfect. Peaceful, relaxing and quiet. And the mineral pools are heavenly - both the private spa in the deluxe suite, and the shared big pool (and there's a semi-private spa for guest use by the main pool too). I got heaps of work done and still came away feeling fresh and restored. My youngest and hubby came and spent a day. I was actually sad to leave! First chance we get, the hubby and I are going back. Thanks Team, definitely a fan of your work :D
- Alberta (10/5): Awesome spas - Excellent lady at this place. Highly recommend staying here.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great get away - Awesome place to just get away and relax. Staff was helpful and rooms were neat and tidy.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Was disappointed with the parking, especially since it was raining and I had to park out on the street. Also there were a few maintenance issues that needed to be addressed. However the bed was comfortable and we enjoyed the private spa.
- Kevin (10/5): A Top Spot - A lovely clean motel unit with it's own private hot thermal mineral pool, welcoming Staff and off street parking. A great place to enjoy a couples week-end.
- Jason (10/5): Nice stay. - The lady at the front desk was really nice. The room is modern and clean, the view is not much to look at but that's just a given here. The jetted tub is ok, not great, I think you're better off in the outside pools. Nice stay though and would come again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - really good hotel room and spa pool was amazing
- Nicole Wheeler (10/5): - Great place! The private mineral pool was fantastic - easy to use and very relaxing. The room was comfortable and the heat pump ment it was warm and cozy. Will definitely be back. Great romantic night away!!
- sheryl (8/5): Geothermal therapy. - It was such a pleasure to enjoy and relax. Worthwhile getting a room with the hot tub and balcony. Enjoyed the outdoor pool more relaxing in the evening. Very quiet and comfortable. A good place to unwind.
