- Jennifer (10/5): - Exceptionally central location, just steps from Oneroa shops cafes and short walk to beach This well appointed room is great for couples, quiet and secure, easy access - steps away from Oyster Inn restaurant which served delicious food - the oysters - wow! Sunday night roast. Beautiful dining setting. Lovely breakfast. Staff and management alike were exceptional - nothing was too much trouble. Thankyou for a memorable weekend. Nothing
- Kelly (10/5): - The staff were exceptional as well as the food delectable!! What a lovely, vibrant, welcoming place.
We love our stay at the Oyster Inn. Top notch all the way around.
- Matthew (6/5): - The room was cute and had everything we needed. Our room had two windows looking out to a car park so not much to see there. Comfy bed and nice linen, loved the aesop soaps! It's in a great spot and the restaurant was great. Breakfast comes free with your stay but it was a little average we had the bacon and egg brioche roll which was a bit dry. We also had the crumpets which were a little under done but the jam and cream it came with were amazing. We were the only ones there for breakfast and one of the staff members was vacuuming arround the space - not a great mood/vibe setter haha! Overall a nice space but not sure we would stay again. Definitely would come back to the restaurant though!
- Rebecca (9/5): Cute and convenient stay. - Cute and cosy, great location. Little treats in the room were a great touch. Breakfast was delish, and dinner at the restaurant was so nice. It was quiet.
- Chris (10/5): Loved the oyster inn - would stay again - It was very boutique and they had special little extras
- Katrina (9/5): Very enjoyable. Relaxed stay. Attentive friendly staff - Location & quaint rooms

- Barry (10/5): - Great place for a short term stay. Low key check in relaxed vibe all together
- John (7/5): Good -
- Lianne (8/5): Very good -
- Caroline (8/5): It suited us extremely well - We did not have breakfast at The Oyster Inn . We were too early for it so went over the road. I think the check in procedure could have been better but it was a very busy time of the day.
We had to put a bit of pressure on to get into our room but all worked out in the end.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved our visit to the oyster inn. The inn was darling and food spectacular. I was only sad that there wasn’t breakfast the day we left….. it was so delightful! Great accommodations snd setvice.
- James (8/5): - A lovely quaint little hotel that is located right in the heart of Oneroa. A close walk to a beautiful beach.
- keren (10/5): - I stayed at the Oyster Inn for 2 nights in room 3 and enjoyed my stay, I was a bit confused with checking in but that was probably lack of sleep on my part. I was allowed to leave my luggage inside by the reception whilst I went and had lunch.
The room and bathroom were both clean, there were complimentary snacks for guests which not a lot of places provide. It was very quiet at night and I was comfortable.
The only issue was the blaring sound coming from I don’t know where on my first night but I don’t think the Inn could really do anything about that.
The staff were lovely
Overall, I enjoyed my short stay and I recommend the Oyster Inn! I also heard from a family member and family friend that the food and drinks at the connected restaurant were great so will definitely have to try that next time! Would book here again :)))
- Paul (9/5): Perfect for a relaxing stay on Waiheke - Ideal stay when visiting Waiheke. Well placed for shops, restaurants and the island bus service. Lovely rooms and great restaurant
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -

- Mitchell (8/5): Great spot to stay on Waiheke Island - Great location.
- Douglas (10/5): Ideal place to stay - Food was great, staff friendly and helpful. Location brilliant 5 mins from a beautiful sandy beach - a walk there highly recommended before breakfast.
- Judy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christopher (10/5): Great location , very good restaurant and very pleasant and helpful team - Great Location Nothing
- Emma (10/5): Fantastic location and staff , very happy - Everything , 5 minute walk to beautiful beach and 10 minutes in a taxi to the ferry point Nothing
- Scott (8/5): Very good - Nice and central location with everything you need. Nothing really.
- Kieron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maureen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): - Was a great location and the room was very nice and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
- Tracey (8/5): Very good -
- Mashalni (10/5): A home felt stay. - The room was very clean and spacious. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Will book this place in the future again if I visit Waikehe Nil
- Sarah (10/5): If you want a lovely getaway this is the place! - Room was well appointed and very spacious with some lovely touches.
Breakfast included and delicious as sea pie meal at the restaurant. Nothing
- Peter (10/5): Beautiful island, nice wines! - We had a wonderful stay at The Oyster inn, from the very start when we were met by the wonderful Stefi at the reception desk till we left the day after. The room was nice and clean, quiet at night (I slept like a baby for 7 hours...) and with a nice bathroom.
Waiheke itself was as nice as we had hoped. Beautiful surroundings, a lovely beach (we took a morning swim, a bit chilly at around 15 Celcius...), easy to take the local bus to the wineries at Onetangi Rd.
Wish we had stayed one more day...
We visited the Stonyridge, Te Motu, Tantalus, Man O'War and Mudbrick wineries.
- Bruce (10/5): - Very clean, shower was excellent, bed was comfortable !
- Pauline (10/5): - We found the room very clean. They had gone the extra mile with lovely bathrobes complimentary basket of chips, fruit and chocolates.Staff very friendly. Meal at restaurant exceptional with a lovely chef cooked breakfast included in the price next morning. We will be back.Thank you.Pauline & Kevin
- Tanya (10/5): Oyster Inn - Room was clean and beautiful! Love the special touches and treats!
Dinner was also amazing!
- Ashley (10/5): - We had a great time. Room was lovely, bed was so comfortable, and breakfast was fab! Wish we could have stayed longer!
- Henriette (8/5): - Central Oneroa. Great dining option in house and near by.
- Claire (8/5): - Couldn't have asked for a better location. So many great eateries within a short distance, so it didnt matter that the Oyster Inn Restaurant itself was shut on Tuesday. Really liked the room. Spacios and bright with a small balcony and the bathroom was huge. Had a noise free night on a comfortable bed and slept well. Highly recommend the community cinema, which is just a short walk from the accomodation, and Nomads for breakfast, even closer.
Would recommend for a shirt stay. Probably the only improvement would be a bin in the bedroom area for the tea/coffee station etc. Apart from that, the room was clean and had everything we needed for our stay, albeit basic, as the location and convenience boost the rating.
- Paul (10/5): - Outstanding, great food, clean, comfortable, v helpful staff
- donna (10/5): - the staff at the oyster inn were lovely, steffi was amazing, nothing was too much trouble for her, it was our anniversary when we stayed, and she made it memorable, also the food was fantastic, we will be back.
- Jewitt (10/5): Will visit again - Great location, central to restaurants, shops and bus routes .
- Tara (10/5): Oyster Inn completely exceeded our expectations - We booked for two nights for a girls trip away. The hotel room was lovely and a great size for what we needed. The extra details - bathrobes, aesop shampoo & soap and complimentary snacks in our room made the trip. The restaurant had great food and we were even able to take dessert back to our room one night. The breakfast which was included in our stay was excellent and had a great choice of options for food as well as tea and coffee.
We were able to easily walk to the beach as well as a decent walk to some local wineries. The local buses were easy to use using our AT Hop Card, getting us directly to the hotel from the Ferry and also on to other parts of the island. We will be back!
- Warwick (9/5): Our wedding anniversary trip to Waiheke Island - Handy to restaurants, shops and beach. Breakfast; Note that the Oyster Inn restaurant is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but they provide a voucher for breakfast at the restaurant next door on those days. We had breakfast at both and both were excellent. Nil
- Robert (10/5): - This property although small was best part of my trip to Auckland/Waiheke island. Hotel staff, food and beverages were great. Short walk to beach and 15-20 mins to wineries! I’ll be back in June!
Robert-from Texas
- Sharron (8/5): Despite the check in issues, we had a great stay! - The hotel room was great, very clean, comfortable bed and the inclusive breakfasts were delicious. The staff were very friendly. Great location and so handy with the Explorer bus stops close by. We arrived at night and it was very difficult to collect the key from the lockbox as no light above these. There were no instructions on how to open the lockbox in thee we envelope left for us, just a code. It would so much easier to have a pin code on the hotel entry door. It could be changed after each stay. The main hotel door was really difficult to open with the key.
- Ross (8/5): The housekeeping was terrible. However, the person on duty did put it right and so Mutch is offering us a meal and a win - Location was good for the purpose that we were there
For a 12m² room with no view it was a very expensive stay.
In comparison, our friends had a three bedroom apartment with a beautiful view for less than we paid at the Oyster inn Housekeeping was not done for the three days we were there until we asked for clean towels. Used caps in wine glasses were not replaced, but left in the room. The bed was only made one morning.
- broadobrasilia (10/5): Superb food . Worth the visit - Simply outstanding. Bluff oysters were divine . Lamb rump was perfectly cooked. I am not a big fan of restaurants because usually they are mediocre. But I am happy to blow a bit of money for an experience like this. Wine list is very expensive, which was a bit of a shame
- Tracy (8/5): Comfort and location was a big plus. - Location was very central to everything, and it was on the main bus route for public transport Would have liked for breakfast to start earlier than 9am.
- Rodrigo (10/5): - Very quaint place, cozy room, warm staff, loved everything about it. As the restaurant at premise is now closing on T&W they offered me breakfast at the next door restaurant. And, it was delicious.
The Aesop products in the bathroom made me gasp for a hot minute!
- Glynn (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Shea (10/5): Exceptional - The property was very central being on the main street of the main town in Waiheke. The room itself was excellent with all the amenities you could really need and good quality toiletries and complementary food. A midday nap may be difficult given the music from the restaurant but they even give you earplugs so I can't really say this is much of a negative.
- Billie (9/5): I had been wanting to stay for some time and was not disappointed- it was a great place to stay - The breakfast was delicious but was slow service, and we needed to get the ferry.
We had been there half an hour and I ended up going to ask for it to takeaway.
The chef could not have been more apologetic and it was delicious cold anyway.
There was no obvious reason the service should have been that slow- there was one other couple in the dining room. It doesn’t change my overall experience which was fabulous
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (9/5): No better way to enjoy Waiheke than by staying at the Oyster Inn - The breakfast was wonderful and the waiter was first class. Room was great. Ambience perfect. Nothing. We both loved our choice. The checkin and out was easy.
- Jane (9/5): Great fun stay in terrific location. We will be back! - The rooms, although simple were perfect for what we needed. The location is terrific, restaurant is wonderful and the surprise package for us was how delicious the included breakfast was. The staff were also excellent. Only being super picky - it was quite hot when we arrived so took a little time to cool down the room.
- Margaret (9/5): Great - Terrific little hotel with delightful staff, great breakfast and fabulous location.
- Felicity (9/5): Excellent place to stay, would book again. Definitely recommend - The cooked breakfast was excellent every morning.
The dinner at the restaurant was fabulous.
The service was all round excellent Would have been nice to have a bit more of a view from the room, but that's how it is. Didn't spend a lot of time in the room anyway, the views from just walking through town were awesome.
- KPwhanau (10/5): Absolutely Perfect! - Absolutely Perfect in every way. My husband and I had two nights in room 2 (middle of the 3 rooms) at the Oyster Inn in January 2024. We had read the reviews and decided this ticked all the boxes and it sure did. Location, location, location.
A quick bus trip from the ferry terminal (3 minutes) up the hill to Oneroa. Then a short walk to the Inn. The Inn is right in the heart of the small town of Oneroa with lots of restaurants and shops right there. Across the road is the 4 square, small supermarket for any supplies.
A quick easy check in from a very friendly staff member, who also serves your breakfast. Lovely spacious room - all white walls and ceilings etc make it feel very beachy and summery. Lots of natural light. A small deck which overlooks the back street of the town, and some views to another bay (unsure which one). We found the room to be reasonably quiet, being right in the town, and above shops and right next to the restaurant. You will hear (very faintly) the bins being emptied in the streets in the morning, but its not noisy by any means.
The bed was huge and comfy. Lovely quality linen including big fluffy towels. Nice bathroom - not the greatest lighting in the bathroom if thats important to you.
Theres free cold water in the little fridge, and they even have free snacks on arrival including fruit, chocolate and chippies.
Breakfast is included in the stay and is excellent. Choose from about 5 or 6 options. We both had the eggs both mornings - I had poached eggs with the salmon option which was delicious and my husband had all of the options along with his eggs! He was more than satisfied. Great start to the day. And of course the view is perfect in the small breakfast dining area. With only 3 rooms, theres always a great table available and if youre lucky you will be right in the front table overlooking the street.
Beach towels are provided in the room and the beach is a short 5 minutes walk down hill - so thats an uphill walk back lol. The beach is perfect here so no real need to go to any other beaches, but we did take the bus to some other areas.
There are several very good restaurants right across the road and next door. And of course the Oyster Inn itself has one of the best restaurants on the island.
As you can tell we absolutely loved our time on the island and especially at the Oyster Inn. Highly recommend and hope to return.
- Margaret (9/5): Superb -
- Lena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lewis (7/5): Good -
- Retha (8/5): Very good -
- Nicola (8/5): - Very well located and breakfast excellent. Rooms starting to look tired and didn't feel like they were cleaned properly. I don’t think our bedsheets were changed during the 5 nights we stayed which is what you expect for $500 a night.
- Constance (9/5): Perfect location. Stylish but simple decor. Great food. - Very lovely decor, a few items need to be mended but all very tasteful.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Yantao (8/5): Relaxing and quaint - Great location, cute room with nice amenities, appreciated the complimentary snacks and the breakfast had great options A bit pricey.
- Martha (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful restaurant. Really great food and super service. We ate there 3 evenings and can’t wait to go back.
- Charles (8/5): Very good -
- Erika (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (9/5): Very nice place, well located with great hosts and a lovely restaurant. - Great location and restaurant. A bit noisy early morning. No fly screens on the windows.
- Lara (9/5): Superb - Location
- lesliemA6265KY (10/5): Delicious food, comfortable accommodations, can’t beat the location! - Absolutely amazing experience! We stayed 3 nights and dined at the restaurant one evening. The dinner was exceptional - food and drink selection were fantastic and our waitress Laura was excellent - great recommendations and service! Breakfast comes with the room and it was delicious - a choice of eggs, crumpets (best I’ve ever had!), chia pudding, and more. Stella was so friendly and took great care of us. The room was well-appointed with great amenities. Cannot recommend The Oyster Inn high enough!! :)
- Tracey (9/5): Lovely aesthetics and lovely staff. I’d definitely go back. - Fabulously friendly and helpful staff
- Dene (9/5): Superb -
- Brownkiwi99 (8/5): Great food but a bit slow - We came for a business dinner but had a deadline to catch a ferry. Kingfish ceviche was beautiful, karage very nice and our friends enjoyed the oysters. Lovely wine especially the man o war chardonnay. But there was a lag to get our mains to us and it forced us to miss our ferry which was disappointing. Lovely meal, good service and great setting. But timing could have been better, and it was busy but not full
- Cherish_Travel (10/5): Gem Experience at a beautiful location - Delightful room, in a small establishment steps from the beach with attentive staff and gourmet meals. French fusion feel to this little hotel - carefully collected details, gentle lighting, and fresh dishes to savor. I would go back in a heartbeat.
- Irene (7/5): A bit expensive for the ammenities but staff were friendly and accommodating. - Close to shops and the beach. The bed and pillows weren’t that comfy. Mushrooms got overcooked for breakfast but they still served it to my husband.
- Margaret (6/5): A very French feel about the place - Breakfast was lovely. Staff great. A very large comfortable room It is starting to look a bit tired I e broken hinge on bathroom cabinet. And shower pressure a bit on the weak side and I would suggest when you are charging top dollar you supply a good quality toilet paper. But all that aside I’d stay there again- loved it See above
- Warren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nadine (10/5): - Very quiet and convenient for a Monday night getaway. Room was spacious and very well appointed. Dinner in the restraunt was delicious - only wish we been able to stay for breakfast, but work on the mainland was calling ....
- Serlachius (9/5): A great stay. Would definitely stay again. - Great location and lovely staff and breakfast. Oyster Inn is also the best seafood restaurant in Waiheke Our room was a bit noisy as it was close to the restaurant. But once the restaurant closed it was very quiet.
- Wayne (9/5): Superb -
- Emma (8/5): Very good -
- Morgan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paula (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay would return
