Guest Reviews

- Minda Weldon (10/5): Shakespeare house was a great place to stay and the hosts were helpful. - The included breakfast and coffee got us off to a great start each day. We got caught in a rainstorm hiking, so were relieved we could run a load of laundry (though be aware that arrangements for laundry must be made in advance and can only be done during limited hours).
- Joseph (8/5): - Good location, nice breaky The weird step to the bathroom in the Romeo room, more than once we fell down it, also no amenities in the room to make a culpa etc.
- Hao (8/5): -
- Yasmeen (10/5): -
Personnel sympathique.
Parking pour véhicule.

- Jacob (6/5): Great hosts, but room fell short of expectations - The location was good; tucked away, but not far from the main street. The room was spotless. The hosts were kind and provided helpful tips. Our room was extremely cramped. There was not much space at all to place our luggage. That extended to the bathroom as well, where the mirror was over the toilet and there was no counter to place toiletries. The mattress was more like a trampoline. Extremely uncomfortable and disturbing every time one of us turned in bed.
- vaschwanden (10/5): Great B&B on way to Milford Sound - We loved the layout, the dining room for breakfast, the thoughtful shared guest fridge and large lounging/reading areas outside the rooms. Easy self check-in. Comfortable well appointed rooms. The hosts provided a nice continental breakfast, and good company in the mornings. We stayed here 2 nights. Lots of in town dining options, or grocery stores if you'd prefer to use the kitchen facilities back at the B&B.
- Choon Kim (8/5): Good, no fuss check in and out. - Clean. Bathroom a little cold in the morning.
- Charlotte (10/5): amazing!!! no complaints!!! - amazing owners. the room was large. amazing location. everything was great!!
- ANDREW (10/5): Comfortable and peaceful - Good breakfast
Thoughtful staff
Comfortable and peaceful Nothing
- Cristina (10/5): -
- David (10/5): - A wonderful place to stay in a wonderful town. Nathan and Liz were extraordinary hosts. The rooms are comfortable with plenty of ways to stay warm even on chilly Southland nights. Great staging ground for whatever adventures you have planned. We would stay again, it was all wonderful.
- Eva M. (9/5): Would definitely recommend - Not much more to add than hasn't been said before. Lovely hosts, clean & convenient (if you have a car) about 10 min walk to the centre. Excellent breakfast 👍 Only a hook with coat hangers, so there's nowhere to put your folded clothes. Streetlights are quite dim in Te Anau and the B&B didn't have a lit sign. All a bit dark in the evenings for female travellers.
- Cam (9/5): Lovely hosts, comfy room and homely feel - Very friendly hosts always happy to help out. Good breakfast and overall a very homely feel. Quiet location
- Gary (10/5): This place is a gem. Best breakfast. Fantastic omelette I’ve ever had. Hosts just lovey and helpful. - Close to shops and restaurants. Very comfortable. Nothing. It was just great!
- Carl (9/5): Great location with wonderful hosts. - Great parking.
Shower was great and the built in shelves were brilliant and the best shelves we’ve ever seen in a shower!!
Breakfast of fresh fruit salad, cereals and toast was good.
Nathan and Liz were really helpful hosts, making sure you were happy with where you were going and recommending things. I found the bed really uncomfortable as it was far too soft for me.
Lack of shelving/storage. It’s a small room and having the seats was nice but that then meant no room for a wardrobe/chest of drawers.
- Dylan (5/5): - Breakfast was good and host was very helpful with advice for things to do around the area. Space was clean and private. The second you walk in, you can realize this house was tailor made to fit in as many guests as possible. There is private parking available, but not enough for all guests, so we had to park on the street, which there was plenty of space for. Guests moving around outside their rooms can be kind of loud with doors opening/closing and key locks beeping.
- Brian (7/5): -
- Kelvin (9/5): Great hosts who gave us lots of local information, room was clean and tidy - Included in the price was a continental breakfast, if you wanted a cooked breakfast it was an extra cost and had to be booked the day before, continental was fine for us Walls very thin and you could hear doors closing so was noisy at times.
- Belinda (10/5): - Nathan and Liz were welcoming and gave a great orientation to the place. They were also helpful when we got into car trouble. Beds were ok, but not great.
- Dalene Thareza (10/5): 10 Dusky Road - Friendy people, clean facilities, my room got tidied every day.
- Tracy (9/5): Excellent, highly recommend. - Nathan and Liz were perfect hosts. The property was spotlessly clean and comfortable.
- Ather (9/5): -
- Somee (10/5): - Everything was perfect! We loved the cute, pretty garden. The clean, warm, spacious room. Simple breakfast, but who needs anything more? The shared cooking facility was handy. Friendly hosts. Nothing
- Helen (8/5): -
- Christiane (10/5): Alles Bestens!
- Neha (7/5): -
- julian (10/5): Great hosts & location - ,, ,,
- Darlene (10/5): - Very clean, tidy and comfortable. Common areas well maintained, roomy and nice to relax in. Well located, 2min stroll to the lake foreshore. Restaurants, shops close by. Welll positioned for a day trip to Milford Sound. Hosts are lovely people who genuinely enjoy a chat and offer recommendations. Generous continental breakfast.
- John (10/5): Very enjoyable! - Very welcoming, friendly, helpful & congenial hosts. Good breakfast. Use of the washing machine, tumble dryer & iron was a bonus. We felt a chair each and a small table or shelf for the kettle would be useful.
- Francis (9/5): - Great hosts. I would definitely stay again. Clean large rooms, good breakfast and helpful advice re holiday plans. Nothing.
- KIM (10/5): -
- Landes (10/5): Fantastic place! Thank you Nathan and Liz. - Very clean. And very friendly knowledgeable hosts. The breakfast hours.
- Alain (9/5): -
- Russell (10/5): Lovely B&B in great location and with outstanding hosts - Lovely hosts who were really friendly, helpful and willing to go the extra mile. Great location near the lake and walking distance to town. Clean comfortable rooms. Nice breakfast.
- Ashleigh (10/5): -
- JULIE (9/5): Excellent - Location, facilities, hospitable friendly & informative hosts.
- Anita (8/5): It was a lovely b&b, quiet and well positioned for visiting Te Anau. - Clean, modern and good area No plug for kitchen or bathroom. Lack of kitchen utensils and tea towels for washing up. Unable to have breakfast at an earlier time when we were on a trip. No alternative offered.
- Norhan (10/5): -
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional! - Very lovely and helpful hosts! The room was a good size and everything one needed was there. It was exceptionally clean and quiet. We will come back!
- Jane (8/5): Great quiet
place to stay in Te Anau - So handy for the shores of Te Anau where we had a lovely swim. Shops and places to eat very nearby. Great recommendations from Nathan and Liz.
Breakfast was self service continental in dining/kitchen room which guests can use at certain times of day. Could order a cooked breakfast for extra cost.
Great inside area to sit in and relax , just outside rooms with a drink and to chat to other visitors.
Easy 20 min drive to Manapouri for an early start for a brilliant Doubtful Sound kayaking trip. All good
- Pamela (10/5): Loved our stay!! - What a great place to “come home to” at the end of a full day of activities- quiet neighborhood yet so close to restaurant options - the owners were incredibly helpful and gracious!
- david (10/5): Great B& B with friendly hosts - Continental breakfast was included in the price, there was a good choice of fruit, cereal , toast, jams, coffee.
- Atsuko (8/5): -
- Mervyn (10/5): Liz went out of her way to make us feel welcome. Nathan kept us updated on what we could do. The establishment was spotl - Liz and Nathan made us feel so welcome and made it a very homely experience Nothing
- 347mervyns (10/5): Best B&B - This was a fantastic B&B. The owners were phenomenal, friendly and could not do enough for us.
The room very very clean and the bed very comfortable
Best B&B we have stayed in for a long time
- Peter (10/5): -
- Laura (10/5): -
- Howard (10/5): Fabulous accommodation - Owners were so welcoming, giving advice on where to eat (book) and what to see.
Room was great.
10 minute walk to centre
- Andreas (10/5): Great stay at Te Anau - Everything was perfect! Very nice Hosts with great tips! Very nice accomodation, excellent breakfast! Nothing to mention
- Jason (8/5): -
- Geoff Scargill (8/5): Great location - good value - pleasant hosts. - Lovely rooms - very very clean! Hosts are really friendly and helpful. Tasty breakfast! Lighting in bedroom a little stark - a lamp would be nice.
- Kai (10/5): - Super freundliche Gastgeber. Wir haben viele insider Tipps erhalten.
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Lotte (9/5): -
- Steve (10/5): Home from home - Fabulous hosts who made us feel welcome and gave us lots of advice and recommendations. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The dining room and kitchen are available for personal use and the breakfast was very welcome. Shakespeare House is a block away from the lake and very close to the centre and also very quiet. We highly recommend this accommodation. There was nothing we didn't like
- Charlotte (10/5): Amazing! - Great location, Nathan and Liz were fab hosts - so friendly and helpful, bedrooms comfy and clean. Close to everything we needed. Nothing
- Mike (8/5): Relativ kleines Zimmer in sehr freundlichem B&B - Sehr nette Gastgeber, die viele Tipps geben konnten. Sehr saubere Unterkunft und große Lobby. Zimmer war relativ klein.
- Elisabeth (8/5): Ruhige Lage am Lake Te Anau - Schöne Lage am Lake Te Anau
Gut eingerichtet
Gastgeber geben gerne Tipps, was man unternehmen kann
Self-Checkin reibungslos

We have had a nice journey !
- Carole (8/5): -
- Anthony (9/5): -
- Graeme (8/5): Comfortable and clean perfect for our short stay - The hosts were very caring and made us feel at home
- Grant (3/5): Disappointing stay and will never be back..ever - Place is clean and cosy Was advertised as king bed, but old queen bed with sagging springs. Needs to be updated. Also a 90min window for breakfast. Was told by hosts when we missed breakfast and coffee that "most people like an early start". What about your international travellers that have their time zones mixed up? Inhospitable.
- Aleta (8/5): -
- Dooley (9/5): -
- Martha (10/5): Fit our needs perfectly. - Nathan and Liz were very helpful. They made sure we understood the check in and recommended dinner spots. They helped us with all day parking while we went on our day excursion. The accommodated all our breakfast requests and chatted with us sharing insight to the region and suggestions for further actives in our destinations. The Bed and Breakfast is not elegant but it was just what we needed. Nathan and Liz were the best.
- Isabel (9/5): Zu empfehlen - Sehr großes Zimmer. Großes Bad, sehr bequemes Bett. Lage nahe am See.
- Ritsuko (8/5): Very clean and cozy place, short stroll to a beautiful bay walk. - This was a wonderful cozy place with very good breakfast. Nathan & Liz were very friendly and helpful hosts. It would be nice if the room had a luggage holder. We therefore had to open our suitcases on the floor.
- Alexander (8/5): -
- Lynda (10/5): Really enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend. - The location the owners were most welcoming and had a great knowledge of the area. Nothing really but the bathroom was a bit snug, or I need to loose some weight. 🤣
- Danny Bar tal (7/5): -
- Brit (8/5): -
- Lloyd (10/5): - Great hosts who were did everything to ensure a wonderful stay.
- Helene (8/5): Enjoyed the stay. Friendly and nice breakfast. - Very friendly helpful owners.
Comfortable and neat room: Had to park in street due to not enough parks in front of rooms.
- Curnow (10/5): -
- Candid Mark (9/5): Splendid - Warm welcome and other inter-actions with hosts. Easy parking. 10 minute walk to centre of town and 5 to the waterfront. Spacious room. Comfortable bed. Daily room make-up. The glow worm caves are a must, as of course is Milton Spund. Included breakfast short of inspiration. Better to order cooked breakfast the night before if breakfast is important to you.
- Salvador (10/5): - Thank you host, super clean and great location to city centre. Rooms were little small for party of 3 plus the bed was too soft for my liking.
- Dov (9/5): Very great place . We injoy Thare . - Location and the owner is excellent.
The city Ofer many attraction .
This is 2 hour drive to Milford sound. and near Kepler track . It was noisy from the breakfast room .
