• Verified traveler (10/5): - After booking for a room last April for 2 nights in November, I realised I needed a room with a walk in shower ( owing to a disability) I phoned and spoke to the reception - on arrival we were helped to our room over looking the lake, (we were upgraded) such a surprise. The food was "to die for" and the room very comfortable, staff all very friendly and helpful especially Wendi our waitress. Wonderful place.

The rooms overlook the lake in Daylesford, providing the most idyllic, quiet and restful setting. The staff are welcoming and friendly and ready to assist with any requests. Finally, the restaurant well and truly deserves its reputation as one of Victoria’s best. Whether enjoying a relaxing breakfast, an extra long lunch or memorable dinner, the setting is great, the staff warm and friendly and food remains sensational.

• mary (8/5): Nice hotel you know you’re in Dalesford - Our room was so large we could have spent a week in it. Warm and welcoming when we arrived but got too hot at night and in the morning. The breakfast buffet was much more wholesome and representative of Autumn when we stayed about 10 years ago. In general.. warm comfortable and welcoming

Rooms are comfortable with all conveniences we required. We had breakfast and dinner included - a beautiful dining experience where you are made to feel special. Overall I could not find anything to complain about.

We were happy to indulge and booked a lakeside room along with dinner in the hotel’s restaurant. The food was outstanding, the service attentive and the room comfortable and well maintained. We were particularly impressed with the nine course degustation option for dinner, although it is worth noting that this incurs a supplement per person (on top of accommodation package price). There is also a lovely sitting room with fireplace and library that is fantastic for a pre dinner drink or afternoon coffee. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you are looking to treat yourself. One of Victoria’s gems.
• Jiwen (10/5): A nice surprise - It was a rushed booking on Saturday afternoon in Ballarat. Nothing was left except motels and high end accommodations. The stay was very nice, perfect for a family. Meals were included which is a surprise. Delicious french dinner and lovely walking trail around lakes.

• Deborah (10/5): A WORLD OF EXCELLENCE AND COMPLETE SERENITY - This is my seventh wonderful stay at this fabulous hotel/spa hotel totalling 30 nights. In the past I stayed at Lake House for truly special occasions including 9 nights for well earned R&R after a very long and exhausting stint in hospitality. My husband and I have now decided, after my birthday treat this weekend, to come here every birthday. This means that we will be at the Lake House every April and September from now on. This beats the airport hassles and delayed flights and unchartered food safaris. By the way, the food is absolutely sensational. I rate the breakfasts to be equal to The Peninsula, Hong Kong and The Grande Britannia, Athens which also have gorgeous surroundings, each completely different. The staff are always welcoming and I got an unexpected upgrade - perhaps because I have stayed so many nights at this hotel in the past.We also had beautful pedicures and massages at the Salus Spa, a crwel away from our room. So relaxing! This hotel is the best in Australia.

• Megan (10/5): An utter pleasure, can't wait to return - We loved every minute of our stay at the Lake House. We received a surprise upgrade from a lake view room to a suite, and it was exquisite. No amount of attention to detail was spared. Both the a la carte and degustation options at dinner were delicious and beautifully presented, as was the breakfast. Like the rest of the hotel, the restaurant has a warm, clean, cape-cod feel to it, and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed just being in the environment. The library is a wonderful place to enjoy a drink and a parlour game after dinner, especially in front of the fireplace. Staff are all very knowledgeable and accommodating, and always friendly and polite. The grounds are beautiful in winter (we can't wait to see them again in autumn, with all the leaves turning!), and provide a beautiful backdrop at mealtimes, as well as a great locale to stroll through when the sun came out. Salus spa is a wonderful place to unwind; we can't recommend the massages or the products enough. I particularly enjoyed the hand and body lotion, which is available for use in the hotel's rooms. It is clear that a tremendous amount of love and care is poured into the Lake House by its owners and staff, and we couldn't help but be swept up in it. We're counting down until we can come back!

• Louis (8/5): Autumn is a great time to visit Daylesford - we had a great stay spending 3 nights pampering ourselves. This is a high end establishment with luxury and quality in mind and we weren't disappointed. Autumn is definitely a time to visit and Salus a great spa to experience. The room was well appointed with an open fireplace and heated floors and well proportioned king size bed. Always helpful the front of house were friendly and accommodating. Not the place to stay during the kid basketball tournament but definitely a place for luxury, gourmet food and relaxation. Minor points to note is that internet reception in our room was poor - we didn't care as we were trying to avoid electronics anyway and we did not bring it to the attention of the concierge. Breakfast and dinner packages are great for a day or two(or for the very energetic) but 3 nights was too much food- in retrospect one day too many of rich lovely food. The kitchen also made a major plating mistake on one night which for a top end restaurant was a little sloppy. The front of house were very apologetic and smoothed things over but I sincerely hope that the kitchen lifts its game on the pass to ensure perfection every time as is expected from such a great place and kitchen. Having said all that I would be back there tomorrow if I had the time and budget as it was a great 3 days.

From the moment we arrived to our departure 2 days later we were treated so well by lovely staff who were so helpful. Our room was gorgeous with glorious views! The food was spectacular and we couldn't have asked for anything more! Look forward to returning!

We were both exhausted after months of children and glandular fever and hospitalised parents and we just wanted to stay forever. Our two nights were just delightful and were able to recharge the mind and body.

An unexpected room upgrade was most appreciated and enjoyed. Our 1 and only dinner was spoiled by an over speedy service whipping drinks and food away while I was still eating and one staff was so pompous and superior in manner that it didn't make for the pleasant and special evening I had planned. Thank goodness for Tash.

• Doug (8/5): Wedding Anniversary - We had two wonderful nights at Lake House for our wedding anniversary. We ate in the restaurant at Lake House and had a brilliant, innovative meal (and generous serves too!) with helpful waiting staff. Breakfasts were fabulous. However when at a staying hotel such as this it is the small negative things that become annoying: We arrived early and were not able to store our bags until our room was ready; we had no help moving our bags to our room; the fridge in the room had no milk, and though we had paid for our stay through wotif, when it came to finalising our account we had been charged a second time. All easily sorted out but just enough to decide us to rate the hotel as a 4 (rather than a 5 as we would have liked).
