Guest Reviews
- Julie (9/5): -
- Dominic (1/5): DONT NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE - Absolutely nothing. Rubbish was scattered all over the car park and bins were overflowing. Room’s disgusting, AC unit leaking water everywhere. Toilet leaking, permanent residents doing skids in the car park at night and dogs in upstairs units barking all hours. People knocking on my door begging for food. Felt unsafe as people entering and leaving complex all hours of the night leave engines running. Wanted to leave but unfortunately no other accommodation available. Do not believe the photos or reviews left for this place. DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE AT ALL. Should not be in operation.
- Brian (4/5): At this stage did not overly enjoy the stay. Staff made it bearablr - No breakfast Not organised due to all the renovations. Staff lovely snd helpful. Stay was cut short due to illness in family in Brisbane. Onky stayed for 2 days. Would have appreciated if I received a small refund as it was unexpected.
- Emma (1/5): DONT RECOMMEND! - The shower pressure and the view Everything! There were no staff around, the entire place was run down and dirty. The fact that you have to wash your own dishes and take your own bins out is a joke or they charge another $50! We had broken glass on our balcony and a window near the front door that couldn’t be closed so we heard every person walk past. A window near the front of the room had no curtains so the light outside shines directly in the face of anyone sleeping in that room, we had to make our own “curtain” to fix this problem. The ceiling fan didn’t work, nor did the light on the balcony and we had a random car air freshener hanging from the middle of the room. The doorstop was also sticking up making it a trip hazard.
- Rodney (2/5): - The property is very rundown.there was a very large dead plant in a pot at the front entrance.there was gardens and the walkways were rundown.
It’s a pity the property has a great view but it will take a lot of maintenance to bring it up to scratch.
Sadly it reflex’s that one doesn’t want to stay there again .
Sorry Rodney

- Colin (3/5): -
- Wright (1/5): Never again - Close to where we were going to a party Old, run down, smelt musty in the room, fridge mouldy
- Wayne (10/5): - Staff were very accommodating Place was excellent. New owners are exceptional
- Chris (8/5): -
- Alana (6/5): - We chose to stay at Camelot because it was in a convenient location for our quick overnight stay. Although very outdated, the beds and bathroom were clean and there was a fridge and microwave with plates and cutlery to suit our needs. Reception were friendly and very accommodating for our last minute booking. Very outdated.
- Adam (1/5): Demolition Site - Remotes had no batteries, great mini bar list but a completely empty fridge. Set of a movie survivor style vibes. After a long day of travel, all I wanted was a hot shower to ease my aching muscles. Instead, I got an arctic ice bath experience — not because I booked it, but because the hot taps didn’t just lack hot water… they didn’t produce any water at all. Nothing. Dead silent. For $168 a night, apparently the “spa treatment” here is screaming in shock under freezing cold water.
The motel itself is a masterpiece of disappointment. The photos online must have been from the 1980s, because what you get in person is a tour through a post-apocalyptic film set. Rubbish scattered across the grounds, old sofas and mattresses dumped near the bins (maybe it’s “art”?), broken paving that doubles as an obstacle course, and a gazebo canopy that looks like it lost a fight with a lawnmower.
The outdoor carpet is shredded like a crime scene, rust stains decorate the railings, and the garden beds are filled with rubbish and dead palm fronds. Honestly, I’ve seen cleaner back alleys behind a pub on a Sunday morning. At least the cockroaches and stray branches seemed right at home.
Customer service? Well, when I complained, I was told a plumber “was coming today.” Not “sorry,” not “let us help,” not even a token bottle of water. Just a shrug and the kind of customer service charm that could be summed up as: you’re on your own, buddy.
If you’re after the full “renovation site chic” experience — complete with rubbish décor, dust-covered pathways, and amenities that exist only in the imagination — this place is for you. Otherwise, save yourself the pain. Should’ve read the Google reviews first.
Highlight of the stay: discovering that the only running water was the cold tap, and the only thing running after that was me… straight out the door.

Hi team I've check-in to the hotel it is nothing like the picture of the place. It has no running hot water to the room there is no one at the place to report it to. I not sure how to attach pictures to this.
- Martin (10/5): - Under New management. Very welcoming. Spa bath was lovely.
- Onisimo (10/5): Peaceful and relaxing - We didi stop over for a night for our 2 days road trip…The location and the night view is sooo nice ❤️❤️❤️looking out to the mining lights🫶 and in the beautiful morning looking out to the ocean..beautiful ❤️❤️
- Ray King (7/5): - Comfortable, reasonable price. The pool was no good. The paint was worn and there was raw fiberglass exposed. There were renovations under way so that may be on the list. Bit of a hike from the car park to upper floors.
- Shelley (4/5): -
- Bader (7/5): I would recommend and stay there again. - Easy to check in, nice view, quiet, comfy and clean. No teaspoons for making coffee in the morning
- Simon (6/5): -
- Shannon (3/5): - There were rats and mice around, rooms not clean and photos do not look same as property.
- selinaa (1/5): -
- Ramana (3/5): -
- Michael (5/5): - Place is a bit shabby and tired.
- Roger (6/5): - Bed clean and comfortable. Chairs dirty. Very little cutlery. No wine glasses in room.
Building very old and poorly maintained.
- Mark (1/5): Horrible - Not Applicable The motel was in a state of disrepair, the room was dirty, the beds were the worst we have ever slept in and there were no staff to assist when needed
- Kilie (3/5): Below average - Fan wasn't clean, only had one fork for cutlery, had to ask for a blanket. A man before us waited 1hour to be checked in we waited 20 minutes to be checked in.
- Birch (1/5): Crap. Rating online is a lie - Shower was hot. Towels were soft Cleanliness was appalling. The tiles need a good scrub. The whole place appears run down with poor maintenance. Pillows were pathetic. We didn’t turn tv on so presumably it worked. Rubbish left on ground near where wheelie bins were. Probably someone missed the bin but why couldn’t the person who put bins out have bent down and picked it up.

- Keith (5/5): Have stayed here a number of times - probably not again! - It is a property! with great potential. Love the elevated position and the extra large rooms. But the property has been let run down. A pity - it could be so good. No kettle or tv when we arrived. Staff were helpful.
- Jo (7/5): -
- Tanya (8/5): Comfortable - Clean and comfortable Restaurant and bar were closed due to renovations
- Makayla (8/5): no complaints! - lovely girl on reception i think her name
is Summer. friendly , polite and happily had plenty of extra towels in the room. it's an old motel. even when things are clean they don't look clean.
- Ray King (8/5): Comfortable budget accommodation. - Quiet, pleasant outlook. Uncomplicated. Pool lining coating was worn leaving fibreglass visible, possibly exposed.I would no use it as is.
- Mandy (5/5): - Staff friendly great location to my work Needs a good clean old and outdated, couch I would not sit on. Rubbish under stairs just generally unkept.
- Kacey D (1/5): Disappointing - Everything about the accommodation internal and external did not match what is advertised online. The accommodation did not feel safe.
- Chris (3/5): - Room was clean. Had to turn the toilet tap off at the wall as it was continually leaking and turn on to refill when required to flush.
No batteries in aircpn remote so used batteries in TV remote.
Fire alarm has been removed!!!!
- Andre (7/5): - Really nice view
- Philip (5/5): A tired property in need of some dollars being spent to bring it up to 2025 motel standard, - Location was close to my work venue TV didn't work, Bathroom grout mouldy. Kettle difficult to fill up from bathroom tap. Shampoo provided but no conditioner.
- Ashley (7/5): -
- Arahi (2/5): Was convenient - Nothung Place was dirty... entrance ways... not very good first impressions. Would not stay there again... photos are not what it shows
- Tara (6/5): -
- Ian (5/5): Great location, but property is not being looked after. - Great location. Toilet light still not fixed in the month since we last stayed in that room.
Place is looking run down, lots of litter around, carpets ripped. Concerns over room cleanliness.
- Cabrera (5/5): The cleaners very helpful and attentive made it more relaxing and comfortable. - Location excellent Untidy patios and faulty window screen.
No basic cleaning equipment eg: teatowel, detergent etc
- Mette (3/5): -
- Pocock (3/5): - The location was amazing, very close to town and amenities. Hotel is very run down and could use a little TLC. No restaurant or food facilities. The room had a microwave but nothing else besides a kettle. Prices for tea and coffee were outrageous if you didn't bring or buy your own. The only sink was in the bathroom, so I had to wash dishes in the bathroom.
- Malcolm (6/5): Ok - Due to fridge and television not working we were upgraded. A lot of rubbish and debris around property
- Amanda (1/5): - It was disgusting and dirty. The pictures are old nothing like it!!!
- Peter (8/5): -
- Dowling (10/5): -
- Makayla (3/5): it stank a little was nothing like the photos wouldn’t not recommend spa was cool tho - not much a lot
- John (1/5): -
- Shawn (7/5): -
- Jemma (1/5): Awful - Nothing Upon arrival into our room, it smelt like smoke and looked as if the carpets had not even been cleaned. The toilet smelt like urine and shower room was wet.
when we arrived we had to wait before exiting our car due to 2 unrestrained wandering dogs that appear to be staying/living in one of the hotel rooms.
We have small children with us and they were scared to leave the car due to the dogs.
The rooms are not sanitary and when using the bathroom it appeared to be toilet paper stuck to the wall beside the toilet. There are poo marks on the wall in the toilet, the basin tap isn’t attached properly, some brown marks splattered over the front of the sink cupboard. There are animal droppings under the sink cupboard along with a random brown paper bag.
The wall in the main bedroom has some liquid marks that have not been cleaned. The fans are matted with dust so thick when you turn them on it flings off in your face.
There are stains on the floor and stains on the walls. There are evens stains on our bedding that we have to sleep on!!!
The toaster is foul and the kettle is beyond usable.
To say I’m appalled in an understatement and I would never stay here again or recommend it to anyone.
- Rarchelle (5/5): Won’t stay there again - Was delicately clean for age/condition of hotel Parking - none available when arrived as no lines so people left large gaps between cars
Felt unsafe being a single mother
Walls/shower curtain in bathroom dirty

- Angie (1/5): It’s a squatters paradise. - Nothing Visiting the area with my daughter for a netball carnival. Not a lot of options left. We saw this listing on booking.com. Happy to stay at a budget hotel for 1 night. Clean and comfortable was all that was required.
On arrival into the carpark the place was scattered with rubbish. The large skip bins overflowing with rubbish. It smelt like the local dump. We arrived late in the afternoon and so took the key from the lock box. The walk to the 2nd level was an eyesore. A very obvious lack of maintenance around the facility. It looked like squatters lived there.
Then inside the room. Eek! The lounge looked like something you would see people leave at the kerbside for rubbish collection. Filthy stains all over it. The bed was sunken in the middle with barely any blankets or bedding on it. The sheets did appear to be clean atleast thankfully. You could feel every spring in the mattress and hear them creak as you moved…also belonged at the dump. Then there was the bathroom. Oh my gosh there was thick mould everywhere in all the grout lines. The bathroom also stunk terribly of urine.
The outside balcony was absolutely filthy. Also looked like squatters were living there. The door tracks were full of filth and dead geckos. (Dead from like a year ago). The TV didn’t work, the wifi password didn’t work. The whole place was disgusting.
The whole place was disgusting and should be closed down immediately. It is not at all acceptable that this ‘hotel’ is allowed to operate as a business.
Booking.com needs to remove this place from its listings or risk extremely bad reviews.
- Tory (6/5): -
- Stuart (6/5): We will not be back - Average Staff were rude & condescending
- Janelle (7/5): -
- Smith (1/5): - Nothing whatsoever. The room stank and was dillapidated to the point of needing major work. The exterior walkways and stairs were filthy. If we hadn't already prepaid, we would not have stayed. The health department should shut the place down.
- Williams (2/5): -
- Elizabeth (1/5): Not recommended - We don't recommend that you stay here.
Read the reviews! Not as advertised on the site and unsafe.
The office was only open from 1:30 to 4:30pm. The pool was dirty and not accessible when the Reception closed. No restaurant operating on site.
The fridge didn't work. When my husband told the receptionist she walked away and didn't do anything about it.
My 8 yr old son couldn't reach the taps on the shower as they had been installed at the same height as the shower head.
The facilities were unkept. Finally, we noted that the extinguishers and hose reels hadn't been tested / tagged in nearly 2 years, and there was no fire and evacuation plan in the room.

- Malin (2/5): - The key was not where I was told it would be. Had to wait for 30 minutes for staff to arrive. Explanation was that the former employee forgot to put the key in the arranged locker box, but when we got there the box was opened (had gotten a picture earlier in the day of it locked) and empty. Felt unsafe, not knowing if someone else also had the key to our room.
- Rob (2/5): -
- Tanya (8/5): Perfect for an overnight stop over on the drive to Mackay. - Perfect for an overnight stop over on the drive to Mackay. Checked in after reception closed but Will was very accommodating and helped us check in.
Bed was comfy and the internet was good. Around the base of the toilet was damp so we wore our thongs in the bathroom.
- renlin (1/5): - Honestly, I don't usually leave reviews, but this was just ridiculous. The air conditioner remote didn't even have batteries—how am I supposed to turn it on, with telepathy?
Then I found out there was no quilt or blanket on the bed, just a lonely sheet. Had to put on all my thick clothes and hug the thin little throw for dear life, shivering through the night like a cold burrito.
I get that this isn't a five-star hotel, but come on—basic things like a working remote and a proper blanket are not too much to ask. Bring your own batteries and bedding if you dare to stay here.
- Andre (7/5): -
- Chris (6/5): -
- Glenn (6/5): - Pool table and size of room was great. Shower pressure was also good. Just shampoo, no conditioner was provided. Looked generally old and run down all over. Only bathroom sink to wash and clean used crockery’s and cutlery.

No dish towel and not enough dishes for two people. Room smelled like cigarette smoke. Reception was only open three hours a day which made communication difficult. A lot of noise from permanent residents coming and going for night shift work.
