- Raichelle (4/5): Don't stay here unless you don't care about wasting your money and have no standards. - The only thing that we liked was that the bed and pillows were comfortable in the room with the Queen size bed.
The bathroom tiles are nice and the shower is fine - they have not finished painting the walls or filling holes and gaps, though. 1. The Quilt cover had a stain on it.
2. The cabin was stinking hot and the air conditioner couldn't cope or reach the bedrooms.
3. No bottles of water provided in fridge.
4. Floorboards were popping up everywhere.
5. a) The Bathroom was unfinished with one coat of primer all over the room - sloppily applied.
b) there are loads of unfilled holes and gaps in the walls,
c) there is only one 60cm towel rail for a 6 person cabin,
d) there is no soap tray in shower, so we lowered the shower arm and put the soap on top of the shower head.
e) the bathroom window still had product codes written over the glass - not cleaned.
f) the two doors in the bathroom were peeling and splintered.
g) the plastic soap dispenser cap is absolutely FILTHY and has splits in it - this can be easy fixed by purchasing a new metal one from eBay.
6. The furniture was made of cheap MDF and had scratches and dents all over them.
7. The land was a dry, dusty, rocky, desolate hole. It was not even remotely inviting to sit outside.
8. The majority of the cabin looked like the owner built it himself using second hand building products - with no prior building experience.
9. The kitchen was presented nicely. However, REMOVE THE CONOLA SPRAY as it is TOXIC. Replace it with pure cold pressed Olive Oil. Also they have a cooking book on display called, "The Low Sugar Kitchen", but they only provided white sugar sachets for the tea and coffee - confusing much?
10. The wall where the air conditioner and tv are mounted has not been repaired or repainted. It's an eyesore.
N.B. We aren't snobs, but the proprietors had no right to lease the cabin before it was completely renovated and in better condition. You have no right to take money from people (i.e. ME) if you can't provide a completely renovated cabin in good order and condition. It's such a dry, dusty, rocky, desolate place - your kids would never want to play outside and the parents wouldn't want them to either.
- Liam (10/5): Absolutely lovely - I liked Everything, the place was amazing! Nothing, everything was perfect.
- Constance (4/5): - The hut wasn’t clean when we arrived. This host called the cleaner who cleaned it and they also left wine which was a nice gesture. Tv and internet not working on first night of stay and host wasn’t keen to fix it that night. Not that we need tv and internet all the time but it helps for kids to watch tv so parents get a lie in on weekends! It was my husbands 50th birthday weekend. Pretty disappointing. Also our cabin was ‘hidden away’ next to a newly constructed housing estate…

- FIONA (9/5): - Self contained cabin
Quiet rural setting
Good heating
Comfortable bed
- Jake (10/5): Fantastic place to visit and stay, very cosy and spacious, with country feel but all modern amenities. - For a little cottage, it was very spacious. Very homely and felt like we were living on a farm.
Saw lots Roos and other wildlife.
- Hall (7/5): Good -
- Sharon (9/5): We enjoyed the little cottage and the surrounds where kangaroos and birdlife entertained us . - Everything we needed was provided . It isn’t a dislike but the bathroom lighting could be better for shaving and makeup.
- Helen (8/5): Comfortable and easy access to the ammenities we required cor the time we were there. - Beautiful setting, very quiet and peaceful. Loved the wildlife on our doorstep.Close to wineries and concert we were attending. Bathroom needed updating, bedding could be freshened up - dooner covers , pillows updated, no facilities to wash clothes in the cabin if staying more than a couple of days.
- C (8/5): Very good -
- Ella (10/5): Exceptional - I was big and we had our own little area There was nothing to not like about it
- Marcus (10/5): Exceptional - The operator was very accommodating, the cabin was basic, but had everything that we needed... it is what it is for the price. We enjoyed the kangaroos coming up to our cabin at night. 100% will book again. Nothing, we enjoyed our stay.
- Sarah (8/5): Very good -
- Amy (6/5): - Nice quiet spot and manager was lovely to speak to. Unfortunately we noticed a smell when we arrived which we discovered the next morning was likely from dog food and chicken mince packets left behind in the bin compartment. Linen appeared clean but we noticed a few stains on the lounge and
- Susan (8/5): Comfortable, excellent value and very clean. Would go back without hesitation - Quiet. Clean and well equipped. Comfy beds, lounge and dining Cottage was stifling hot on arrival - took hours to cool down and aircon seemed to struggle. Fridge temperature did not drop below 10 degrees if the thermometer was correct. The freezer section worked well. No free to air tv had to use my personal accounts to watch.
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kris (10/5): Nice little cottage/country getaway - Cute little cabin. Basic but had a nice modern kitchen. Great for foreigners, kangaroos bouncing around on the property. Close enough to wineries Really looked forward to a country side getaway, unfortunately our cabin was facing a housing development. I don’t think the other cabins have this outlook however
- Veronique (7/5): Good -
- Jenny (8/5): Very good - Location is really good quiet and far from other cottage..room are very clean and bed are very comfortable. The air-conditioning is not working well. And the barbecue facilities need to be clean ..kitchen does have a dishwasher liquid...
- Lauren (5/5): Passable -
- Adam (8/5): Very good -
- Sasha (10/5): Nice place - It is good if you need space, have loud kids ect as no one can hear. A few pot holes along the way, maybe make small car owners a bit nervous
- Elise (9/5): Superb - Loved what they did to modernise the cottage. Dated bathroom, however for us as a family this didn’t impact us.
- Dee (9/5): Value for money. Comfortable little cottage. Great for couples get away. - It was a comfortable little cottage. Reasonably clean. Good location. When we got there the room wasn't cleaned. The cleaner forgot to clean our room but she came very quickly and cleaned for us. There was a big stain on the sofa which was a big yuck.
- Neeha (6/5): Not horrible. - We liked how quiet the surroundings were and how easy the owner was to deal with via text even before arriving. She was very friendly. There is only 1 small A/C in the lounge room which does not reach the rooms which felt like saunas. When we tried to open up the sofa bed to potentially sleep in the lounge and be closer to the A/C we found d the sofa bed sheets to be covered in dirt and debris and the bedroom with the queen bed had mold on the ceiling so all 3 family members slept in the room with the bunk beds which was very uncomfortable due to heat and lack of cooling. The property is also located deep down a gravel road with lots of big dips that our car struggled to drive on.
- Alison (8/5): Very good -
- Elise (8/5): Very good -
- Carpenter (9/5): Superb -
- Gladys (9/5): Superb - Country and the kangaroos away from everything
- Steve (7/5): Good - The age of the cabin meant it was a little tired
- Tiffany (10/5): Had the best time. - Lovely to place to stay with a young family - very quiet and clean.
- Alyson (8/5): Family friendly stay in a beautiful location - Beautiful setting, lots of privacy, easily accessible and child safe If I’m being picky: The bathroom could do with an update, would have been good to have a railing on the deck to prevent falls.
The bedroom got quite hot and I’d probably think twice before booking in the height of summer
- Pabitra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vanessa (9/5): Amazing and cozy cottage amongst the kangaroos - Loved the scenary, the kangaroos all around, nice and quiet place, bed sheets were amazinf and soft and great shower! Would be lovely to check in and see if we need help with the fire pit as we are not seasoned campers but that's just nitpicking
- Souheil (9/5): Superb - Great secluded views. We seen alot of kangaroos in the night and early morning.
Heating was perfect for colder nights.
- Mellissa (7/5): Quiet, warm and cozy! - Kangaroos and bird sounds and isolation. The driveway was terrible especially at nighttime. Our car handled it but smaller cars especially rentals would have difficulties. Perhaps warn guests.
- Vikki (6/5): Rustic cottage off the beaten track - The cottage is quaint and the beds were comfy Potholes, mud and poor illumination made finding the property difficult. We could not get the reverse cycle system to heat the space so relied on two small heaters which did the job but were noisy, and it took us an age to find the switches on one of those to get it working. We never did find out if there was wifi
- Leanne (8/5): Very good -
- Valentina (8/5): Very good - Nature immersion and animals surrounding the property Bathroom and kitchen outdated
- Lucia (10/5): I can’t wait to be back there - Peaceful place. Absolutely beautiful cottage. They had everything you need for a weekend away. Love it Nothing
- Warren (8/5): Very good - A nice rural getaway. Comfortable, clean and a very approachable owner.
- Paul (6/5): - Basic accommodation.
Fly screen on door ripped =flies etc
Carpet squares soiled. Sheets attained
Kitchen and bathroom okay
Nice country location
- Pabitra (9/5): Superb -
- Noveena (5/5): Genuine Feedback for improvement - The location although i was expecting it to be more natural. Nevertheless it was a very good and unique expérience. Some facilities were not in good state in the accomodation like a kitchen drawer, wooden stand, a chair, the Iron, the oven among others were broken and not in good state.
Cleaning is done superfically and not deep. We moved à sofa for more convenience and it was very very dirty with dead lnsects, cockroaches, dust etc.
- Adele (8/5): Very good -
- Tash (9/5): Superb -
- Kaitlin (7/5): Good - The property is in a lovely secluded location that is still accessible to a range of nearby breweries and wineries! Our stay was only very short but enjoyed the outlook and the fabulous communication from the owner. The bedding was comfortable and clean, well presented. The cabins are great value for the price and location, however, are reasonably basic. The aircon was great but didn't really reach the bedrooms very well so made for a bit of a warm night (albeit, it was 40 degrees outside so that can't really be helped!)
- Kathy (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (9/5): Superb - Kangaroos Uneven dirt road
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Location
- Lorraine (2/5): Extremely disappointing, nothing like what I was expecting based on the advertising!!! - The outlook & surroundings. The kangaroos on arrival were amazing & not a problem at all, kept to themselves! It would have been nice to be given the heads up that construction was going on not too far away, waking up to the continual beeping of the trucks on Saturday morning was annoying & went on all day!!
The overall appearance & cleanliness of the cottage was disgusting & made the stay very unpleasant i.e dead flies on sills, left over old dog food on floor, torn screens & windows that were either hard to open or unable to be locked, outdoor furniture that needs to be replaced, stained & frayed carpet & a repulsive buildup of dust!!!
We stayed in the Merlot cottage which obviously needs a major make over, can only assume the other cottages would be in a similar condition!
- Jerocel (10/5): Definitely will stay here again! This is our 3rd time here. - The cottage was cozy, had everything we needed. Fanstastic location, clean and tidy little cottage.
- William (6/5): Nice cabin close to hunter valley - Great location and good size with two seperate bedrooms The cabins were neat however could be updated.
- Irena (2/5): Very poor -
- Marko (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rohyoung (10/5): - was nice place for family holiday.
good nature with a lot kangaroo, nice view and adorable accommodation. my family and
dog also enjoyed dinner with campfire.
they have enough kitchen for cooking ourselves.
we have feeling that comeback next year winter again.
thank you
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - The Hideaway Cottages were clean, spacious and located in a very quiet area.
Perfect for what we wanted.
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gayle (9/5): We only stayed one night, but there was everything we needed and awesome it travelling with fur children. - We were travelling with our fur baby, so the area was excellent for a dog Nothing, it was awesome for our needs
- Akbar (10/5): Good place to spend weekend with kids cottages were nice and clean and had everything we need -
- Nicole (8/5): It was a very lovely weekend away. - It was very nice, very family friendly. We will 100% book again!!
- Yiota (6/5): ok - location was great! the whole setup is a good idea but needs a good renovation and a better clean it was dirty! the bathroom, bedsheets were smelly, utensils all dirty had to clean them to be able to use them
- Antony (9/5): nice mid priced convenient and comfortable accommodation. - A great place to stay when you have a small dog or dogs with you. Room to roam freely and a nice fire pit with adequate amounts of firewood. the bbq came in useful and the gas heater was nice.
- Gountia (6/5): It was nice stay, we enjoyed it. Very quite, everything is nearby -10-20mints travel. - Lots of Kangaroo, privacy is good, lots of space for the dogs to play. It was very quiet, and all the necessary facilities were available. The aircon was not working in one of the cottages, they responded and came to fix it immediately. The gravel road to reach the Hideaway cottage :-). The pictures don't stay but the cottages are pretty old and kind of worn out. It needs a good reno, especially the bathrooms.
- Ashley (9/5): Superb -
- Brenden (10/5): Exceptional -
- Grant (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jj (7/5): If you like privacy and plenty of room outside you’ll love this place. - The location and privacy is really good, the beds were very comfy (and i work in beddings) the towels and sheets were really clean and smelt fresh. The fridge was spotless. Kangaroos were so cute but they stay away. No bugs were found inside and the fireplace heater made it feel like a real fireplace. Bathroom a little outdated but still clean
- Melissa (7/5): Comfortable and great for kids. - The wide open spaces, it was very good for young kids as we didn’t feel like we were disrupting people. They could ride bikes and explore. The cabin needs a little updating and the signage out the front could use some more lighting as we missed it several times during our stay.
- Amy (8/5): Great location, felt like a true country stay - The location, the yard and fire pit. Area felt secluded and private. The BBQ didn’t light
- Aline (9/5): Superb -
- Anna (8/5): enjoyable - the cottages were comfy and nice love seeing the kangaroos and beautiful birds in their natural surroundings! a new housing estate being built close to the cottages
- Lachlan (9/5): Superb -
- Wayne (3/5): Poor -
- Veronica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rashmi (7/5): Good -
- Simone (8/5): Just keeps getting better and better - We’ve been visiting Hunter Hideaway for around 7 years now. Originally we went back because it was clean and dog friendly, but now we return because of the hospitality and the coziness that the cabins have taken on. We love the serenity of Hunter Hideaway and it’s been a joy watching them transform over recent years into really comfortable, well equipped cabins suitable for human kids and fur kids alike.
- Fernando (8/5): Nice, quiet place to stay with family or friends. - Fairly good place to spend with family. A little dated but cost effective for low budgets. The shower is small but the living area is a good size. Outside ther's also pleanty of space to have a bbq and play with the kids.
- Rochelle (9/5): quiet comfortable for our concert in the hunter - quiet location and comfortable all good
- Samantha (7/5): Great value for money compared to surrounding accommodation. - Not included The power points in the bedrooms and bathroom didn't work, I had to straighten my hair in the microwave door reflection lol. Just thought you should know.
- Vicki (3/5): Poor - that it was quite until construction started power kept tripping. Was put in cabin facing construction work .
- Graham (7/5): delivered on our needs - which was to use as a comfortable base for the concert and to enjoy the Hunter - comfortable bed
hot showers
kangaroos slight odour of dogs and damp / urine
- Tanya (7/5): Good -
- Paul (7/5): Very peaceful and quiet cute cabin, we would stay there again. - We enjoyed our stay and the cabins rustic feel. The screen on the entry sliding door needs repair, the ironing board was too small and the air conditioning didn't turn on. The noisy neighbours in the ceiling at night was a little getting use to :)
- Susie (8/5): We had a beautiful weekend away from the city. The cabin had everything that we needed! - We had a beautiful weekend away from the city. The cabin was lovely, warm and cosy and had everything that we needed and more for the stay! The light did not turn on in our bedroom, however there was a bedside lamp that did so it was ok!
- Deepak (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (10/5): Perfect for families - Super comfy beds, lots of space for the kids to run around outside. N/A
- Christie (8/5): Very good - It was perfect get away to hunter valley, very peaceful location but close to the wineries.
