Guest Reviews
- Sheree (8/5): - Clean rooms and friendly staff.
- Mark (6/5): - This property is convenient but tired & needs a revamp.. The gate to the security car park malfunctioned on Day 1 of my stay & remained open.. This issue wasn’t fixed for the 4 days of my stay so car park had no security. The lift makes a lot of noise so at night it’s hard to sleep..
- matthew (8/5): - no beach view.
- Paul (8/5): - No view
- John (6/5): - Nice neat and clean property; however furniture is dated and well worn, needing to be updated
- John (4/5): - The front desk staff were very helpful and lovely to deal with. The room was the issue.
Table tops were sticky, grotty hand marks on the wall, bathroom loght globe blown and although 180/night is on the lower end of accommodation in the area, the location only makes up for half that.
We came in with no expectaions and were still very disappointed.
- Nicholas (10/5): - Great location opposite the beach. Large and very comfortable, well cleaned room. Reception staff were friendly and helpful.
- Mark (10/5): - I love the proximity to the beach
- Amber (10/5): - -
- Criselda (6/5): - It was not what im expecting specially coming from Cottesloe
- Julia (10/5): - Lovely quiet spot. Easy access to beach and eateries and a walkable distance to the train. Would have loved to have some plates and cutlery in the room. Room was huge and although a little tired looking I really enjoyed my stay here.
- Claire (8/5): - We stayed 1 night and this was convenient for our plans. The rooms are dated but clean.
We had an executive room, which was very spacious but it had a small queen (felt like a double) bed and the only comfy chair was broken. I would definitely recommend for 1 night stays but not longer if you want to relax.
They provided towels, soap bar and shampoo. The kitchen had a Kettle with tea and coffee. There was Crisps, chocolate, water and coke availble in mini bar and you could order room service from the restaurant.
- Dean (10/5): - Sound of the waves
- Julian (10/5): - Whilst it’s not the newest property, in fact it’s quite old……it represents great value in a super location.
- Ryan (10/5): - Super open space, comfy bed. Just hallway carpets are destroyed and lift is really bouncy
- Craig (8/5): - Value near Cottesloe beach
- Kate (8/5): - Perfect location
- Paul (8/5): - Whilst a bit old and tired, everything was clean and hygienic, with easy parking and access. No issues. Good value for money.
- Mark (10/5): - Brilliant … but … the door openers consistently mal functioned, which was a bit of a pain (but not too bad) request trip downstairs to reboot the plastic card
- jonathan (8/5): - Location
- Joshua (8/5): - Staff were great
- Geoffrey (8/5): - This place is an institution, well known to my Perth colleagues, glad I caught the train out rather than staying in town this trip. The side street nearby has an excellent Asian restaurant and fills with locals (and their dogs) outside the coffee place next door. Great local vibe.
- DEREK (10/5): Last day - Great place to stay. Close to most things
- lester (10/5): - Very spacious room.
TV a bit far from the bed.
- Irna (10/5): - Our large room looked out to beautiful beach views.
- Malisa (8/5): - Car park efficiently locked. Very small.
- Matthew (8/5): - Old school hotel with large but basic rooms, decent bed, good hot water etc. but great location and potentially views depending on the room. Very nice staff too.
- Catherine (6/5): - The best thing was the ocean view but unfortunately the weather was wet and wild so didn’t go to beach. The beach was across the road. Restaurants were easily accessible. Parking undercover limited. Overall okay place.
- Vince (8/5): - being so close to the ocean was great.
- Paula (6/5): - beach view and location
- Matthew (8/5): - Near the beach, clean room and friendly staff.
- Jeanette (10/5): - A great old gem
Even though old, our room was large clean and comfortable, sound of the ocean abonys for me
- RAY (8/5): - Great Location friendly staff probably needs a bit of a refurbishment to modernise
- Jenny (10/5): - The property is older but the rooms are spacious, staff are friendly and welcoming and the location is magnificent. A favourite place to stay when in the area
- Lareen (6/5): - Property run down but a great location with awesome ocean front views. Was good value for the price.
- Daniel (10/5): - Good Outlook. Nice room. Parking available. Meals available.
- Ben (8/5): - Good location, rates and fit for purposes.
- Caitlin (10/5): - The rooms are huge, location fantastic, bit nossy in the morning, but over all fantastic.
- Lou (8/5): - Nice big rooms with great views of Cottesloe beach.
- Jenny (10/5): - Although an older property the location is amazing and the rooms are spacious and comfortable
- Faith (6/5): - Unfortunately the bedsheets smelled very bad and i had to spray with perfume to get to sleep.
- Claire. (6/5): - Toaster and microwave would have been beneficial.
- Rohan (10/5): - Good spot.
- Marie (6/5): - Was very dated, stains on carpet and shower leaked all over the bathroom floor, did have beautiful views of the ocean.
- Nicole (10/5): - Spacious room with 70’s decor. Across the road from the beach with views of beach from room. Cafes at beach to have breakfast. Check in went smoothly with gated parking available on site
- Valerie (6/5): - Great location but rooms and furniture need relacing, everything dated and unappealing. Only a double bed in room
- Ken (10/5): - The view, amazing. Felt at home
- Janet (6/5): - My room was definitely not up up to standard. There were holes in the carpet and the furniture was very shabby.
- Hsiang-Yen (8/5): - Rooms.were.large.and bright. Great location across the road from Cottesloe Beach. Easy parking. Building a little old. Can see it in the common areas and lift. We stayed there 1 night and it was comfortable for us. Had everything we needed.
- kristen (8/5): - Enjoyed our stay there. Thank you
- Trish (2/5): - Overpriced and left back in the 1980s! Bedside tables are deteriorating with water damage and veneer lift. Carpet was dirty and no one vacs behind the chair! Paid for a room with an Ocean View to see sunset over the water....and could only see a portion of the beach and street through a side window looking down into pub next door. The pub next door was great!
- Jason (10/5): - Although it is an older hotel with old style furniture it is kept very clean and pleasent, quite good accomodation pefect location.
- Daniel (8/5): - Good location. Large room à bit dated. Friendly staff. Don’t pay the extra for the sea view: only through a small dirty window.
- Dean (10/5): - Location was awesome. Basic hotel, but perfect for what we needed.
- Barbara (10/5): Ocean and Perth - Perfect for us. Quiet and very close to the beach
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The lift was out of service so had to carry my luggage 4 floors up and down. Also the room felt a bit dated and not as clean as I’d expect
- Ranvir (6/5): - Great location, staff are nice but no chance this is a 4 star hotel. Facilities are extremely old and dated.
- Michael (10/5): - Down to earth beach accomodation. No frills but none are needed. Carefree friendly place to stay. Love it. Never change obh (especially when youre rebuilt….).
- John (4/5): Ready for demolition - Threadbare carpet, chipped tables, broken lift for whole stay, flaky e door key
- David (8/5): - Location
- Peter (4/5): - Broken lift
Very inconvenient
- Paul (8/5): - Great location, across from the beach and next door to the pub/ restaurant. Spacious rooms.
The blind was broken across from the bathroom so i had to be careful at night when using the bathroom. The blind would not go down.
Also, the cups were not cleaned properly.
Overall, it was nice. Just old rooms.
- Helen (8/5): - Close to the beach
Was rather noisy especially on weekends ay night
Great room service and meals
- Amanda (8/5): - I loved staying by the beach in this affordable hotel. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful as the lift was not working during my stay.
- Margaret (8/5): - Loved location food was excellent dinner and also excellent breaky
- Shaun (4/5): - For a hotel in such a prime location , it is very sad that none of the building reflects this . The rooms although clean were awful no comfort and poor condition.
The lift was out of action , although notified prior it was still 8 flights of stairs to our room with luggage . Another guest said the lift was out last year as well . Unacceptable and very disappointing
- Michael (10/5): - Good location comfortable room
- Kendell (6/5): - Comfortable and clean. Room was quite large. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Great location. Room and decor were very basic. There is a mini bar and sink, but no cutlery. Lift was not working when I stayed, but the staff did all of the heavy lifting with luggage which was appreciated. Free onsite parking included.
- Nicky (10/5): - While a little tired, the older facility is made up for by a spectacular view and plenty of space in the room. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We loved it.
- Inspire09742783391 (10/5): Great staff, location, and comfortable room for short stays. - I stay here for a night or two every month. I go for work, but also to relax with my husband.
Reasonably priced, relaxed feel and beach across the road to sit and relax, or swim if you feel too.
You could join the early swimmers on the weekends, but I tend to sit and read. I enjoy a walk along the shore. Magnificent sunsets are observed from the cafe/restaurant has fantastic meal specials and is next door. and connected with the hotel. Great price for the location. Will be back again in a few weeks!
- Cush (10/5): - Such a beautiful location right on the beach!
Lovely friendly staff, room was clean & tidy.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Although this hotel is quite old it was quaint, clean and staff were very helpful, served our needs appropriately.Travelled for a concert easy access to the venue restaurants close by lovely and a bonus being directly opposite the beach.
- Jenny (10/5): - Great position
- James (6/5): - Friendly staff nice location
- John (10/5): - Friendly service. Good size room with a great view to Rottnest Island. Older style accommodation and comfortable. Nice meals at the pub.
- Armina (6/5): - A bit old but clean
- Susan (8/5): - Convenient location.
- Richard (4/5): Disappointing - Bed and bathroom clean. Bed comfortable. Staff friendly. The room itself was very run down, with worn carpet and veneer peeling off so bare MDF on bedsides etc. worst bit was the noise. Every movement in the room above was loud, and doors banging. I couldn’t get to sleep until gone 2 am. Won’t be back.
- Aron (6/5): - The property location is fantastic however the property is very outdated and whilst the room was spacious could use some much-needed renovations. Parking is offered however very tight with no access from the hotel only the front gate.
- Anne (8/5): - Great location and easy access to surrounding areas and Perth. Lovely helpful staff. Spacious unit.
Only negatives are - only one lounge chair when there is plenty of room for two and condition of dining table needed attention as it was very worn. Overall a great stay.
- Jason (10/5): - Love the OBH , well priced and always clean and quiet.
- Jenny (8/5): - Rooms are clean and large. Older style but fabulous location. Staff very helpful. I would stay again
- Margaret (8/5): - What we like is the welcome and extremely helpful staff, and whilst it is an older style hotel it is more than adequate for our stay - across the road for an early morning swim at the beach and breakfast in nearby cafes, transport outside the hotel door - very convenient.
Ability to self-cater or eat out.
Thank YOU OBH
- Paul (8/5): - Locations, but was a little noisy through the building
- Niree (10/5): - An oldie but a goodie. Really big rooms and perfect location on the beach
- Graham (4/5): - The hotel is in need of refurbishment. Extremely shabby interior and exterior.
- Denise (8/5): - It was okay
- Jane (10/5): - We always love the ease of staying at the OBH - great front desk staff, rooms always comfortable & clean - the million dollar view is amazing! It makes our drive up from Margaret River so worth it!!
- Maree (10/5): - Love the area ,Ocean veiws simple affordable and the meal was really good ,Highly recommend
- James (6/5): - Great location
The room, however, smelled like old cigarette smoke so had to have the window open the whole time.
- Gail (8/5): - Great location
- Sandy (6/5): - Staff very effecient. Building is dated but location is great. Bathroom fittings need replacing but you get what you paid for.
- Tamara (4/5): - Building full of cracks
Furniture is so old, worn & in immediate need of replacement (bed sides dining table to mention a few)
Bed it self was good
Phone not working (had to use my mobile to get room service)
10am check out (however cleaner budged in room at 9am)
Doors banging, slamming the whole time
Basically I will not return
- Grace-Louise (10/5): - Was good
- Wade (8/5): - Was a bit nosiey and is getting old but the staff were great and it was clean
- Jonathan (8/5): - It was a comfortable, convenient and easy accommodation at a great price for the location and duration of our stay. Staff are attentive and it's good to have an attended front desk early AM till late PM. Rooms a bit dated yet clean overall well kept. Would stay again.
- Paul (6/5): - Good honest property, great sized room, just getting old and needs some money spent, eg carpet in the hallway leading to the room is very worn and pulled up
- Rita (6/5): - Lift was not working. Had been allocated-room on level 4. Was difficult to bring luggage up to room because of the stairs. Requested a room on level 1 instead. Staff member was very obliging and helpful and able to replace with a room on level 2. Made it easier to access. Had to half empty suitcase in order to bring up the stairs. The room needed an upgrade….carpet dirty, lamp broken and furniture was old. Also smelled of smoke.
- Katie (6/5): - This is a very old tired hotel with lift out of order intermittently as well as carpets that were thin, stained and had ripples in the hallway . Basic bathroom with stain on shower recess tiles.
Best thing was it was opposite Cottesloe beach so easy to go for a swim.
- X2073WLsamj (6/5): ok service is good - the hotel bar area isnt very nice ans the quite restaurant was very dissapointed. had the swan on specail and the parm. The chips were great, it had some sort of chick seasoning, but the parmi was dry and horrible and it was $30 so it isnt exactly cheap . Service was good though
