• Kathryn (6/5): - Having steps up from the corridor on the upper level to the room is dangerous and highly unusual. Looks like the building has been repurposed.
• L8653XPjamesf (2/5): Decline in guests services. - Have stayed here several times over the past years. BUT no more, it seems the new owners/managers have closed the restaurant. Which means we have to eat out for dinner and breakfast. This is NOT how we like to stay overnight when travelling around Queensland. We will be looking elsewhere for our overnight stays from now on. A side note, we reported a broken towel rail in bathroom 2 years ago and they have just removed it altogether. Very poor maintenance.

Everything looks amazing king size bed beautiful looking bathroom BUT bed is the worst bed I've ever slept on and the shower has no pressure and smoke alarm kept going off from the shower DISAPPOINTED.
• John (8/5): - Limited time here, the restaurant and bar was closed and we had little dealings with the reception/staff. Large, clean room with easy accessibility. As for outside there was a mass amount of large beetles everywhere and no one was really around to clean them up a little.

• gs969 (2/5): Dreadful. Avoid - Incredibly disappointing and not as advertised on the website. It certainly is not a 4 star motel as they advertise on their website. Nor does it have a fully licensed restaurant, again as they claim on their website. We knew that the restaurant would be closed on Sunday (which no 4 star hotel/motel would do), but nor was breakfast available on the Monday morning. There is a note on the door of the door to what was once a restaurant stating that it is closed until further notice. We would,never have stayed if the website had not misled us. We paid $175 for a room that had no window. It had a glass door to the bathroom that was too short. There was only 1 bedside light, and no,power outlet on one side of the bed. There was no mirror. The walls are paper thin. And we were unable to raise our concerns on check out as there were no staff - just a note to leave the room key in a bowl. This is not a 4 star motel. It looked and felt more like a warehouse with rooms.
• melaO1663RT (8/5): good experience, though i didnt get the sleep i needed which is why i booked - very clean rooms, lovely products to use. beds comfortable. only issue was woken by a very loud dog next door at some ridiculous hour of the morning which is why i booed to get a break from our neighbours dog barking 24/7, then the workers trying to get their truck out . over all a good stay but i was desperate for sleep which didnt happen unfortunately

• 788brienj (6/5): New Owners? - For the past few years this has been where I stay when travelling through Ayr. I haven't been to the motel in the last year or so. It seems the motel has been sold? The new owners do not seem to be maintaining the rooms as I've experienced in the past. Everything seemed a little more run down. The restaurant and bar in the hotel is also closed. I might stay there again, but I'll definitely explore my options before committing.

Very clean apartment, warm and helpful welcome, good restaurant, enjoyed our stay and appreciated the coffee machine, twinings teas, milo, bottles of water. Lots of parking. Ayr is very quiet on weekends with most businesses closed.
• Nadinearchibald (2/5): Poor service poor food - Our family went for a meal at their restaurant Burnt Sugar. The service was the worst part. We ordered our meals and did not see the staff again. One empty plate was removed and I had to clear the rest myself. We bought more drinks and had to get them our selves while 3 staff chatted. For what was charged the food was not much better than cheap pub food.

• Fi-Fi4740 (10/5): Clean, safe, modern,spacious - Nice quiet motel with large rooms. Ample parking in quiet location, even though it is the main road through town. The bed was soft, the room was spotlessly clean and I would happily stay here again. Restaurant and coffee shop on site. Regretfully did not have a chance to try due to our late arrival and early departure.

• 788brienj (10/5): Large Quiet Rooms - I recently stayed at this property while travelling for business. The rooms are set up nicely with a work station and modern amenities. The bed was super comfortable and I slept really well. The hotel also has a restaurant, I didn't try it, but it's there if you need it or a drink. Even though the property appeared to be full the night I stayed there was very little noise for being on one of the main streets in town. Highly recommended, I'll stay here again if I'm in the area.

• oneword (6/5): Barely average - Disappointing stay. Rooms were noisy, especially at night. Could clearly hear people walking around in the rooms above and a tiled internal hallway that dissects ground floor accommodation creates an echo chamber effect. Some rooms were below par with timber veneer surfaces 'bubbling', towel rails that fall off the wall (a known and long-term issue, according to motel management), and a musty smell present. 'Real' glasses, china and cutlery replaced by paper cups and bamboo plates and cutlery due to COVID concerns, according to a note left in the rooms. COVID has been under control for quite a while, so continuing to provide low quality disposables possibly has more to do with saving money (less housekeeping) than mitigating health risks. At $175 a night, the overall standard didn't match the price point. Restaurant food and service were poor. Our group was served five meals that were not up to scratch. Polite feedback was ignored by wait staff with no attempt made to remedy the situation. Elsewhere in these reviews, you will see motel management responding to negative feedback by claiming they would have fixed things, if only they'd been told at the time. Well, despite telling management about five unsatisfactory meals that included some expensive dishes, management advised the poor quality was due to the chef being temporarily replaced by a backpacker! Shame we weren't made aware of that before we ordered. There was no attempt by management to make good a poor experience. Running a motel and dealing with the public are demanding. I get that. But on this occasion, this property and its team didn't meet reasonable expectations, in my opinion.

• Patric_Moberger (10/5): Great food and hospitality. - Great dinner in a hidden little gem in Ayr. Don’t miss the friendly service and great seafood chowder. Worth a detour! Nice big and clean rooms. This town is small and lovely and the motel is a great place staying at especially if you are looking for a great dinner too.

• B4917UCdeborahk (4/5): Over priced and under serviced! - Didn’t stay here but ate at the burnt sugar restaurant, ordinary at best extremely over priced for the quality of the food. Fillet steak ordered blue came out medium rare gravy accompanying equivalent amount of an egg cup, chicken Wellington extremely dry! and pastry burnt. Two waitresses obviously under pressure as also servicing room service, main course came out the minute the last mouthful of the entree was consumed. Far better place to eat in Ayr at lower prices offering far fresher better quality of food and service. Wouldn’t return.

• lisstravelsalot (8/5): Modern queen room, great covid prep in rooms - We stayed here one night in a queen room and found the room a great size, modern bathroom and all covid issues addressed from bagged remotes to bamboo plates, cups and cutlery. Our tv and wifi didn’t work, we weren’t offered a wee refund just a sorry which dismayed friends and family. Get a downstairs room if possible so you aren’t hauling luggage upstairs. Security is good, need to swipe to enter the area.

Clean & Comfy! - After travelling since 10am from Cairns this morning we needed a nice comfy place to stay at Ayr that was clean but not over priced. This was it! The owner/Manager Maj was very accomodating & his wife was lovely too! Restaurant was good - nice Italian food. They even set up a special table for us in a separate area as they had a function on on main area. Very kind. We’re very happy we stayed! Will definitely keep this as a half way place to stay between Cairns & Mackay from now on! Thanks guys!

As soon as we arrived the staff were friendly, smiling and helpful just what u need after a long day to lighten the mood, we had dinner in the restaurant food was ok and the service provided was just amazing, Then off to bed, room was exceptionally clean, comfortable and has everything u need. The location is great and we were impressed with the friendly and professional service. The rooms were well appointed and very comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. The decor was fresh and modern too. As we visited over Christmas we didn’t make use of the restaurant at all but reviews indicate that the food is also lovely. Our only negative is that there was quite a bit of road noise and we were unable to close the bathroom window vent to keep it out.

The room had everything we could need, as well as being incredibly clean, it had a very comfortable bed and luxurious bathroom. The Motel itself was delightful, filled with colourful and stylish decor, it had comfortable incidental seating and as well as great books to read, a car play mat for children. It is obviously a well looked after Motel. We ate dinner and breakfast there in the lovely dining room, and both meals were lovely. I have Coeliac Disease and was able to be easily looked after with a totally gluten free meal. We would stay here again.

The staff were very accommodating, fitting a table of 7 in at the last minute. Loads to choose from on the menu. The food came out very quickly and was delicious! Stay here you will not regret it.

• Peter (10/5): Excellent Value - Spacious, very clean, comfortable beds, efficient check-in and out, helpful staff and good location. We found this motel excellent value for money. Will stay again when next in Ayr.
