Guest Reviews
- Jork2 (10/5): Leura getaway - It was a beautiful old house with so much history, and very peaceful Nothing
- Tristyn (8/5): -
- CSIN66 (8/5): - The house is clean, and the heritage ambience of the house is a plus. Also enjoyed the privacy and pantry at the family room. There is no smart tv with Netflix, YouTube programmes. Sharing of family hall with noisy guests. No liquid soup was provided in the toilet.

- Bill (2/5): A never to be repeated “experience” - This could be such a lovely hotel, but sadly has been left to deteriorate. The location is good and the bed, despite the hard lump created by the electric blanket, was comfortable enough. Hidde (our host) provided an informative talk on the history of the house. The property is run-down. There is an unpleasant smell of damp and the room was festooned with mould and cobwebs. The room was cold (warmed up by a stand-alone heater) and uninviting. We were stuck for a place to stay as it was a big running weekend in the Blue Mountains and so ended up paying an absurd amount (£278 for 2 nights!!) for this truly memorable (in all the wrong ways) tip of a place. If the owners do one thing, at least change the light cord in the bathroom as it is stomach-churningly filthy.
- Mike (8/5): - Location and historical style.
Nice touch is the history tour
- Kerry (10/5): -
- Helen (9/5): -
- Manthan (10/5): - Clean and spacious room It was all good
- Harris (10/5): -
- Wendy (6/5): Only just fine for a well priced overnight stay - Lovely old guesthouse in great location to Leura Mall. The trees and gardens were beautiful and a quick walk to station and then Leura shops and restaurants . Linen and towels fresh and new. Our room was up 2 flights of narrow stairs - fine for us but difficult with luggage would not suit many. The room was cold on arrival and a took a while for an ancient column heater to warm. The mattress was old and hard, the blankets insubstantial and far from adequate although we were warm once room heated. Furniture old and not fitting for the guesthouse .
- Lucinda (10/5): - The history
- Ray (8/5): -
- hudde (8/5): - Classy old building. Big and cosy room. Comfortable bed. Nice garden and communal rooms. Power outlets are all very close to the floor (except one) and pointing downwards which makes it impossible to use most international power outlet adapters (important for guests outside of Oceania).
- Shannon (9/5): - This is a stunning heritage property with comfortable rooms and friendly staff.
- Margaret (8/5): -
- John (8/5): - Interesting old guest house Bed was hard and lumpy.
- Peter (9/5): Lovely old house in a great location for Leura centre - Lovely old house, very comfortable, great location All okay
- Helen (6/5): - Location was excellent, size of the room was large. Property is quite run down, it needs a lot of work to restore it to its former glory
- Elena (10/5): -
- Angela (10/5): - Tolle Einrichtung. Wie im Museum. TV veraltet und vom Opposum boykottiert.
- Kassandra (10/5): Peaceful relaxing comfortable - Hidde was awesome!! The house was amazing. Close to town. Great weekend!! Nothing
- Margie (10/5): I was thoroughly satisfied with everything.thankyou - I didn’t have breakfast before leaving. There was nothing I didn’t like .
- Rachael (9/5): -
- Natalie (7/5): - Nice garden and view from room. Good location
- Chilled Vagabond (8/5): A lovely base in the Blue Mountains. If a tad on the expensive side. - Lovely and constructively helpful staff. A property oozing with character!
- Gregory (8/5): Nice location for a weekend in the Blue Mountains. - Great location. Quaint and historical accommodation. Very informative and helpful staff.
- Stephen (7/5): -
- Libby (5/5): Convenient to leura mall and station, ok but just a bit sad - Wonderful property in it’s heyday but now sadly run down
Was warm and electric blanket a nice touch Thick mould throughout shower and bathroom
Hard bed
- Andrew (8/5): - Beautiful old character property within walking distance of the centre of town Nothing in particular other than the mattresses needing to be renewed. They are past their use by date!
- Alison (8/5): -
- SamsonD (9/5): Stunning gem of history with cosy bed - The host Hidde was very welcoming and friendly and gave us a history tour of the building. A lot of charm and character, not dull and sterile. There was the sweetest cat on earth living there as well, so friendly and cuddly! The parking was a bit difficult to deal with. Some basic breakfast items would be great, and inclusion of more teas and hot chocolate.
- Tess (7/5): - Staff was great, even on late arrival. Perfect spot to start. Room was very tidy and spacious and the whole place captured old style Australia.
- Nikita (9/5): Loved it - Loved it Loved it
- Sharon (9/5): An enjoyable stay in a heritage listed property with character! A great location. - It was nice to stay in a property with some history and character. It was a nice room and a great location. It was a little run down in places as are many properties of that age, however still tidy and presentable.
- Caroline (10/5): - Lovely old building with comfortable rooms and a nice living room for all to use at their leisure, within walking distance to Leura.
- ROBERT (9/5): Great value all round - Funkiness Nothing
- Chu Wai (7/5): - Good location and some effort was made to explain and emphasise the historical significance of the building. For a stately building with such historical significance, more could have been done to emphasise or enhance the grandeur including the interior furnishings of the bedrooms and common lounge. Although comfortable, quiet and the rooms and common areas being clean enough, it was lacking atmosphere.
The bar where we could help ourselves to tea and coffee in the common lounge was quite dirty near the sinks and kettle.
- Simon (9/5): Good location. Easy walk to shops and pub for dinner. Comfortable for the 3 of us. - Interesting history which was presented to us on arrival
- Bhumika (10/5): -
- Lynne (10/5): Quaint cottage with good facilities - Great location after a day out hiking . Cute setup Nothing
- Dore (10/5): -
- Thea (7/5): -
- Marzena (9/5): -
- Javier (8/5): - The heritage building was nice, well located, big room decoration is horrible and maybe needs an upgrade
- Rod (7/5): -
- Kevin (9/5): - Lovely old property within easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants in Leura.
The owner and staff were friendly and flexible.
- Wendy (7/5): Nice to stay in a place with character and charm - Beautiful building and grounds, history of building and area
Shared living space was nice
Manager was friendly and helpful Room was dusty, carpets not clean in corners
- Madison (9/5): A cozy, well located accommodation that makes you feel at home - Beautiful house just off the main strip of Leura. Mold growing on ceilings in room and on shower curtain in bathroom
- -Thanh Trúc (10/5): -
- Rajat (2/5): disappointing experience with bookings.com and the leura house. - I want to formally document the issues I experienced during my stay from 7th to 8th March, as the room I was assigned was not suitable for guests.
Although I recognise the unique character of the guest house, the room provided to me was not fit for accommodation. Throughout my stay, the noise from the driveway and the stairs was constant and extremely disruptive, making it impossible to rest. There was no privacy, as guests and vehicles passed directly in front of the windows, and I had to keep the curtains closed the entire time. I also could not open the windows for fresh air because of the proximity of people and cars.
In addition, I discovered mould in the room, which is a significant health and safety concern. I have attached photos as evidence. A room in this condition should not have been offered to any guest.
I understand that the property was fully booked at the time and that my reservation was made through Booking.com. However, the condition and location of this room make it unsuitable for guest use under any circumstances, and it should not be allocated until these issues are properly addressed.
- MOSES (6/5): - I liked the old world charm and large rooms The bed was very hard
No fly screens
Shower screen wouldn't close so bathroom got all wet
- Geoff (5/5): not bad -
- Jasmin (9/5): If you want to stay away from the city this is good choice. - This historical accomodation has a beautiful court yard and lounge area. No breakfast service but there are many cafe in Leura village. Only 5min walk down to town and train station. Good value for the price.
- Sue (9/5): The gentleman who hosted was friendly and gave us a tour and history of the property which was interesting. We enjoyed - Old heritage building, furnishings and history. Great shower. Just a couple of little things - Broken tiles in bathroom. Kettle cord too short to reach power point.
- Samantha (7/5): -
- Tony (9/5): -
- Carly (10/5): Hayde made our stay memorable. A well-kept, historical gem. Very clean and spacious. 10/10 recommend - Thank you for a wonderful stay. The host Hayde was awesome, showed us around and talked us through the history of the building and made sure we had everything we needed (was great at playing cards too)! Beautiful place and a wonderful host. Exceeded expectations. Very clean and well maintained. Spacious room and lovely common areas and garden. Highly recommend, Thank you so much! Beds were a little too firm.
- Angie (7/5): great value for money - Nicely presented property
Great price for the location and space in the room
Grounds looked like they were pretty but unfortunately had no chance to explore No response to any emails sent - two through booking.com, and one sent directly via the website, all over the course of several weeks - never got any response - had to call, which is fine, but take down the option to email if it is not used as a way to correspond - felt like I was left hanging
The sofa in our living area was really hard, had to use pillows as no padding left
Unfortunately the batteries in the remote were corroded
Bathroom sink required repair work - but that was explained and apologies provided
- Gordon (7/5): Comfortable. - Location Shower-bath.
- Stephanie (10/5): -
- Asa (8/5): -
- Stephanie (3/5): Disappointed - Charming at first glance, is it well located, walking distance from the town center. Short drive to other points of interest The place was dirty, it hasn’t been maintained for years, we had leftover soap from the prior person. There isn’t enough cups and cutlery, these were not changed from one day to the other so we had to improvise doing dishes in the bathroom without dish soap. Overall disappointing.
- Chunhong (10/5): -
- Yi (8/5): -
- Marian (5/5): Almost checked out on arrival but our room was welcoming - we won’t return. - Met manager on arrival who had worked there for two months gave us brief history of the house. Room 11 was clean, had a balcony, overlooked the garden with views of the Blue Mountains. Leura House has great history and potential but needs a deep clean and general attention. No staff to help with our suitcases. No breakfast or alcohol licence.
- Eleanor (10/5): A lovely stay in a historic building - A beautiful homestead, just outside of the bustle of Leura. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean
- Laura (8/5): - Beautiful old heritage house. The friendly neighbourhood cat was nice too.
- Richard (8/5): - Old style accomm Only contact was on check in.
- Nina (8/5): Beautiful, cozy and historic property with the cutest cat - Beautiful, cozy and historic property located so close the leura shops and restaurants. Staff were so lovely and helpful with very easy check in and out. Best part about the property is definitely the friendly cuddly cat who spent some time with us in the evening.
- Bernhard (8/5): Good - The history Nothing
- Katie (10/5): Great location in the blue mountains! - Lovely home with antique furniture. Quirky and lovely decor Nothing
- Deborah (8/5): - Close to the train and the mall
- Kevin (10/5): Beautiful historic house. Very comfortable set in nice gardens. Friendly welcome and a short walk into Leura - Charm, history, location, friendly Nothing
- Paul (10/5): Relaxing, enjoyable and allowed me to explore Laura. - The staff were fantastic and extremely knowledgeable and helpful. For me it was in a great position to town in a quiet area.
- Lin (10/5): -
- Jennifer (9/5): - Finn was very warm and welcoming. Beautiful architecture and garden. Warm, cosy feel. I didn't like the mouldy walls. Needs attention.
There were no facewashers or a shower cap provided. These would've been nice to have.
- Judith (8/5): -
- Lutz (8/5): Nice old house in Leura - Old charming house close to village center, nice garden Partly refurbishment recommendable
- Paul (8/5): -
- Henri (10/5): Excellent, romantic, charming - The property is just across the railway line from lovely little Leura main drag. It was a convent, for nuns once, and their prayers saved this building from a great fire that took away an adjoining building complex. One can walk the ruins of what was, next door. Views are spectacular.
- Michelle (8/5): Lovely place, beautiful to look at. Great location perched just above the main St of Leura. - Great location, beautiful old house, the staff member on site was wonderful. The bed was quite hard and it was very noisy when other guests were returning to their rooms at night.
- Jessica (8/5): Lovely building close to the station and Leura Mall. Very confortable bed, loved the old style decor, fixtures and fitti - Loved the old style rooms and fixtures, lovely gardens. One chair needed repair and one towel wasn’t clean.
- Kylie (7/5): - Location, old world charm, value for money. It was a very hot day 35deg c, just for context. No ceiling fan or AC and no fly screens on the windows.
If it was cooler would be fine as there are heaters.
- Pamela (7/5): Value - For the price this is a good offer. they do not offer any kind of breakfast and no air-conditioning so it was rather hot the first day and with only a fan a tad uncomfortable.
- Suellen (7/5): Historic old home with character and well suited to mild weather! - The age of the house and that it had been preserved. The lawn looked well kept with plenty of sitting nooks. A little bit quirky with bedrooms all individually furnished. Staff very helpful. Ability to use the kitchen area to prep own breakfast with plates and cutlery available. Later sitting room and dining area. The outside temp was unbearably hot for Leura and of course, no air con. Perhaps just one of those unfortunate occasions. Are ceiling fans possible? It is an old building and while clean, room could do with some tlc and a new mattress! We are likely to return as we appreciate the age of the venue.
- George (9/5): Great host, great location - Hidde is a great host. He explained historical facts of this unique location and provided great service. 100% recommendation score! We liked everything.
- Goodwin (7/5): -
- Kylie (9/5): I’ll be back. - Beautiful and old worldly. It was sad they don’t have a little restaurant for breakfast.
- Anastasia (10/5): -
- Paolo (10/5): Everything was so nice! - Location is very good, just four/five hundred meters from the main square and a couple of hundred from the railway station.
Atmosphere is very particular as it’s an house with a lot of history.
- Glen (9/5): Enjoy history in style and comfort! - It was a wonderful experience to stay in this beautiful and historically-rich accomodation.
A welcoming host who provided a guided tour of Leura House and its history. Not applicable
- miranda (8/5): Faded grandeur - Lovely old house and great little balcony off our room. Friendly welcome. The guest house is cut off from the main street of Leura by a 4 lane highway so it feels a bit disconnected even though it is a 5 min walk to the high street. The positive is that it is very quiet and parking on site.
There is just one person in charge of the place (a backpacker himself). Our room was clean (maybe a deep clean needed though) and comfortable but outside furniture in the garden was unusable as so dirty. It seems to be in limbo with the owner absent. No food available at all and limited facilities in the lounge area (toaster, kettle and microwave) would have been nice to have access to a stove - the kitchen that I stuck my head in to was a shambles.
So value for money was good but this is faded grandeur. We don't regret staying at all but it seems like the place is being run down.
- Angela (4/5): Disappointing for new years - local food was great - Close to Leura town The most uncomfortable beds we have ever slept on? Why don't people just invest in decent mattress and pillows would have made the stay way more enjoyable, walking up with sore backs and headaches wasn't great. No one checked us in in-person so never really got the check in experience.
- Patti (10/5): -
- Seifert (8/5): Shirt but pleasant - The lovely outlook over the garden Being able to get a simple breakfast would improve it a lot
- Lino (8/5): Rustic Feeling - The rustic and charming feel of the place. No full body mirror
