Guest Reviews
- Michael (8/5): -
- Tracey Dunn (10/5): - The view was spectacular.
The Breakfast was amazing and the staff were very welcoming and friendly.
A beautiful relaxing place that had everything we needed.
- Glenn (7/5): - views spectacular. Enjoyed the wildlife and privacy breakfast could have more options. Accommodation is a little tired - particularly the bathrooms (for the price)
- maria belen (10/5): I would come back - Amazing The staff was very welcoming
- Remus (8/5): -
- Lydia (10/5): -
- Janet (8/5): Beautiful environment and great little touches - Excellent breakfast- flexible staff and great options Nothing
- Fiona (8/5): - The dinner choices - we did not enjoy the meal we cooked ourselves but there was not a better choice
- Constantinos (10/5): Great stay in a great location - The location was great. While our cabin was somewhat "remote" it provided a perfect balance between a hotel and the Tasmanian wilderness. There was lots of wildlife around and a number of walking trails. The food at the restaurant was exceptional for dinner and very good for breakfast. The staff were super efficient and friendly. It was a short drive to a small town and some great coffee shops.we would love to return. The road to the facility was unsealed but that was a minor issue.
- Leonie (10/5): -
- Andreas (10/5): - Tolle Lage mit einzigartigem Blick. Pademelons direkt vor der Terrasse.
- Mark (9/5): Great place for a peaceful getaway. Staff were excellent and food exceptional -
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Kylie (6/5): - Stunning views from the bed and deck, comfy bed, friendly staff and wonderful to see wallabies. Cramped and impractical shower which also leaked into the toilet area. Little room in the cabin to move through and place luggage. Over priced dinner. Also be mindful of the gravel road in and out as we got a flat tyre.
- Rodney (10/5): Engaging friendly staff terrific view comfortable Eco accommodation. - The staff were very friendly and engaging; the view was simply amazing; the art sculpture walk was lovely; breakfast was exceptional. Nothing it was great.
- Cheryl (5/5): The room was comfortable and the view stunning but felt that it is overpriced..Be prepared for long gravel dirt roads to - I liked the view, it was pretty special.. It didn’t live up to the expectations I had with how much we were paying & the onsite restaurant only offered Japanese cuisine & options
- Fiona (7/5): -
- Viraj (9/5): -
- Lyndel (8/5): -
- Lynne (8/5): -
- Gordana (9/5): -
- brian (4/5): Over priced - Nice views Expensive for the quality of accom
- Jinbei (9/5): Beautiful scenery all around - Its location is ideal for star gazing, high up in the least light polluted surroundings. Milky Way and some shooting stars are definitely additional bonus to our stay there. The access road (dirt) made our shinny rental car look like a banger.
- Phone (10/5): -
- Dominique (7/5): - The view was amazing and really good food at the restaurant Tbh the cabin wasn’t too luxurious for the price. Also the path going up took a good 10 minutes, so would actually recommend staying more in Coles bay than here
- samuel (5/5): - Restaurant needs some work - far too expensive meals . Lovely staff and I think they’re trying to start a business but the charges are too high . Loation is good
- Jennifer (10/5): -
- Samantha (7/5): -
- Phoebe (9/5): -
- Natasha (10/5): - gorgeous and peaceful location
- Lindy (10/5): Unwind in serenity, with wallabies and wombats as your neighbours and sweeping vistas as your backdrop. - Incredible vistas of the Freycinet region. Access to the onsite restaurant with carefully prepared cuisine. All of the staff were delightful in their interactions.
- Ian (7/5): A little disappointing ... I know the resort is under new ownership so hopefully things will improve - The breakfast was rather average for the price. Packet cereal, no fruit and the choice of a cooked breakfast, I ordered poached eggs but they were cold so I didnt eat them. Staff who took them away didnt comment on the fact that only one bit was consumed Location is stunning, accomodation pretty simple for what you pay. The showers are a very tight cubicle with a solid door, not very appealing. I noticed that the sheets were "balling" on the beds, so these should be replaced.
The $75 set menu dinner (Teishoku) is expensive for what you get. This would cost $30 at a good Japanese restaurant in Sydney, I would expect it to be more expensive but $75 is too much for what is was. You would also think they would have a fire yet it is only a pretend one that doesn't offer any heat in the main lounge area, which seemed unusual.
The staff were all good, helpful and well meaning, the place is just not a resort...

- Michael (8/5): It was ok -

- Simon (8/5): Perfect spot for a night away from civilisation, nestled high up on a ridge overlooking the ocean. - The location was amazing and great for a getaway after a few nights in Hobart. We say wallabies and echidnas while we were there. The Shabu dinner at Mount Paul Lodge was an experience. It's a little expensive for what you get, especially the dinner.
- rachelle (8/5): Amazing location and the restaurant served delicious food. - Beautiful location Expensive
- John (9/5): -
- Pamela (10/5): Idyllic and unique. - Perfect location and setting. Excellent facilities. It does require a 5min steep drive on unsealed road to access accommodation but worth the effort.
- Jennifer (10/5): The outlook, accommodation, sculptures, and breakfast were fabulous, it was the perfect place to explore Freycinet from - The quaint cottages were perfectly appointed and positioned. My husband thought the shower was too small otherwise it was perfect.
We would have liked to have had a dining option that was a little simpler…. One of us is Coeliac and couldn’t be catered for with the only dinner option
- Konstantin (10/5): Great experience with amazing view. - Amazing view, well-organized room, enough facilities, very good breakfast. Gravel road (last part) creates atmosphere of exploration
- jiexia (9/5): -
- Ross (5/5): Disappointing stay on a spectacular hilltop in Coles Bay - Cute cabins with breathtaking views of Coles Bay, but not much more (and at a more premium price than the experience warrants) Overall, the “resort” is oversold by the pictures / marketing and the experience was more like a 2-3*. Service needs some serious work - we felt like we were a burden on the staff for arriving at 8pm and then coming to the continental breakfast buffet at 9.20am (which closed at 9.30am). It was dispassionate / borderline rude, particularly given the price paid to stay the night. Food & bev situation is also weird - have to order hotpot / bento 4 days in advance, if you don’t there is nothing on arrival (except $14 for a small bowl of Bombay mix and two bottles of water) with nearest convenience store 15 mins drive away.
For context this is the lowest rating I’ve ever given on booking.com and I’m normally super positive, so it was a real let down on an otherwise spectacular holiday in Tassie!
- Elizabeth (9/5): - Great view Our kitchen in our room did not have utensils or pans if we wanted to cook.
- Thomas (10/5): -
- Anilo (8/5): Clean, comfortable and beautiful artwork. - Clean and comfortable, beautiful artwork and gardens as well as a children’s playground, although you would have to drive there as it’s a bit of a hike with young children. The options for dinner was limited, only have the onsite Japanese restaurant. Had to go into town for dinner after a long day of travel.
- Karen (4/5): - Breakfast was enjoyable. The accommodation was overpriced and disappointing. There were no close options for food except the restaurant on site, which was overpriced, inflexible (for dietries) and limited.
- Tammy (5/5): -
- Steco98 (10/5): - Site exceptionnel au cœur de la vie sauvage.
- Grant (5/5): Disappointing for the price and expected more - The bed was comfortable and the view was great The room was small for the price. The menu was poor for both breakfast and dinner. Did not suit my needs. Breakfast menu was poor. I ordered poached eggs and both of them arrived hard boiled and overcooked.
- Susan (10/5): Beautiful stay! - I absolutely loved this place. The location is a little bit far out of the way but it's nice to have that secluded feeling. The views are beautiful from the room and pretty much anywhere on the property. There is so much to see and so many little walking trails you can do the Art Trail is super recommended it's loop that shows you some spectacular views and little sculptures along the way. The lady at the front desk was absolutely lovely and super nice and helpful. Lots of animal poop! Be careful where you step.
- Glenda (10/5): Very enjoyable. - Beautiful views. Ocean to the east & bay & Hazards to the west.
Lots of wildlife. Staff very accommodating & friendly. Looking forward to visiting again. Nothing
- Hell_matt (10/5): - The view from the bed was really nice to have before going to sleep
- Sally (10/5): See the ocean and the stars from your bed! - The location was absolutely spectacular! The staff were very friendly & helpful. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It was a last minute booking, so I thought we would not get into the restaurant for dinner, but they were able to offer us a set menu. The food was SO delicious and the service was great. I would highly recommend staying here and dining in the restaurant as well, the view from the restaurant is so amazing! It is a short drive to Freycinet National Park for some beautiful walks, but if you wanted to, you could stay and sit on your veranda - it is very relaxing. We went for a bushwalk on the art track at the property and saw a wombat, some wallaby's and lots of birds as well. We loved every minute of being here and wished we had booked longer.
- Kay (9/5): We would rate Freycinet Resort alongside Pump-house Point; next time we will stay longer. - Great location, secluded, with views to the estuary and sea, and to the Hazards.
Excellent facilities including the restaurant.
Friendly, helpful staff. Can’t think of anything we didn’t like.
- Roger (8/5): Spectacular location up the hill a little away from Freycinet - View from room spectacular. Lovely and quiet. A bit odd for the hotel restaurant to be a Japanese restaurant at the top of a secluded hill in Tasmania (?) and only one other table booked so very quiet. No fruit at breakfast
- seda Saadet (10/5): -
- Graeme (9/5): Was a amazing view and great vegetarian food at restaurant - View was amazing from our unit The gravel road to get to property
- David (7/5): - Outstanding views and location. Staff super friendly. Rooms satisfactory but very small. Room size and quality. Limited dinner selection.
- Diana (10/5): -
- Linda (9/5): - Panoramic views. Quiet retreat. Clean and tidy. Staff extremely helpful.
Food and drink pairing for dinner was a delight.
- Sally (8/5): -
- nicole (4/5): Our stay was very disappointing. - The views and location were great. The hospitality of this resort was lacking. We had the impression that it was strictly a job for the staff, nothing more. At no time were we made to feel welcomed. Our accodation was a demountable, albeit with exceptional views. We expected much more.
- Monica (8/5): -
- Corinne (8/5): - Very small operation so the staffs are super friendly and attentive. The room has plenty of electrical sockets!! It's quite expensive for such a small room. Space is at a premium.
The shower area was very tight and can do with a hand shower as well.
Dinner is can be expensive but very good quality food.
- Kristy (8/5): - Th location is remote, the most incredible scenery and views of the ocean. Surrounded by wildlife, we saw wombats, echidnas, wallaby’s and whales! It was a stunning property The rooms were on the small side, especially the bathroom. Would have loved more space. But the views made up for everything! Would have also liked more food options at the restaurant.
- Carole (10/5): An absolute gem in a precious location complete with incredible sculpture garden - It was unique, exquisitely beautiful, quality fittings, incredible views, a true paradise Liked everything!
- John (9/5): Most enjoyable - Beautiful location, very good food and helpful, friendly staff. Nil
- Chloe (10/5): Excellent - The property was exceptional with a good blend of nature and comfort. We had an amazing view, with wallabies and echindas visible from our balconies. Watching the stars at nighttime was amazing. The stay also came with breakfast which was great, I particularly enjoyed the congee.
- Juliette (10/5): -
- Simon (9/5): -
- Martha (6/5): Spectacular view albeit not five stars. - The dinner and service was excellent - fun, different and a beautiful venue. Considering the room rate, the rooms were small and not particularly comfortable. Albeit the bed was comfortable and it had all the amenities - it was just cramped.
- Effie (10/5): -
- Kathleen (10/5): -
- Dave (10/5): - The whole experience was fantastic
The site, staff and food was amazing
- Samara (10/5): Simply beautiful! - The resort was peaceful and absolutely beautiful. Exactly what we needed for our honeymoon.
- Lachlan (9/5): -
- Geoff (5/5): Tiny, and expensive. - The aspect and view. And the underfloor bathroom heating. The cabin was originally an Eco cabin, and the fundamentals remain, such that it arguably does not reflect the standard inferred.in the ad. , having a much smaller floor plan than we anticipated and being very tight for space.
There was a microwave and gas top, however access was unavailable, with no equipment supplied.
- Stokker (10/5): An experience you must have - Remote and cozy the room looking out onto Cole’s bay was so spectacular.
We wish we stayed longer.
Full kitchen to use if you want to cook.
Very clean and lovely staff Nothing it was perfect
- sharin (10/5): Fabulous and the best breakfast I have had - Beautiful location and views
Well appointed room
- Melissa (9/5): Peaceful and relaxing - Relaxing
- Caitlin (10/5): - The location was fabulous! The staff were exceptional Nothing not to love!
- hiang teck (8/5): - The cabins did not look promising from the outside. However the interior was good enough for me…though the toilet was a tad too small.
Breakfast could have more variety & hours extended. To start packing up at 930 am was not too appealing to me.
Overall, a good stay.
- Adriarn (10/5): Stunning views, fabulous food, beautiful cabins ! - The view is amazing, dinner was delightful, rooms had everything you need for a relaxing time in the Australian Bush N/A
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Neil (9/5): Superb -
- Mathew (8/5): Very good -
- Karlos (9/5): Great getaway spot and the restaurant (booking required beforehand) was perfect. Ideally for couples - The view, was stunning The drive to get there but it made arriving worth it
- Maria (10/5): Loved the location and the accomodation -
- Amy (8/5): Scenic Gem - Property is a little tricky to get to but the views were amazing. Food and service was excellent at both dinner and breakfast and the lounge/dining was comfortable and warm. Rooms were basic and cosy but also comfortable.
- Di (1/5): Bad -
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional - It was great little luxury cabin with everything we needed, great views and balcony
- Nina (8/5): Very good - Even though it’s a small unit but it’s equipped with good quality ammenities, and good quality products. The location is isolated from the rest of the Coles bay attractions. To enter it we had to drive a few kilometres on dirt road. The beach is far away from the window, it turned out looking just a a glimpse of it.
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional - The view from the cabin was amazing, we were able to watch whales from the deck as there was a telescope provided. Lots of wildlife, two wedge tailed eagles flying around, blue wrens out the back and kangaroos at night.
The art trail was great and food was very good.
The room was warm and the heated floor in the bathroom was wonderful.
Very friendly staff. Lived every minute of it and will definitely return. Nothing
- Leanora (10/5): Will be back - The view. The privacy. The service Cost was a little high
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
