Guest Reviews
- Stephen (10/5): A 2 night stay was not nearly a long enough stay in such a fabulous hotel. - A beautiful period property set in wonderful grounds with a massive car park. The staff were incredibly happy, friendly & smiling people who offered an old English style of service. The room was well appointed & comfortable. The Dining Room is wonderful with an excellent kitchen of chefs who provide top cuisine at affordable prices. We was served by Heather who we think was the Maitre De. Heather was most personable, helpful & most professional, & the kind of employee that any business owner would give their right arms to have working for them, she was that good.!Well done all @ Astley Bank We shall return of course.
- Victoria (6/5): Ok, you get what you pay for, not a lot - Bed was comfy We never got to eat breakfast as it shuts so early, we arrived at midnight after travelling for 12 hrs and then were expected to get up and get ready for breakfast by 9.30am, it was terrible. the hotel room wasn't great but bed was comfy, it all needs updating. The reception and bar area smelt really bad.

- Peter (9/5): -
- Estelle (8/5): . - Great Location
Food Excellent
Very quite The bed was so soft and very uncomfortable, glad it was only one night we were staying or I would have had to ask for another room . The bed also moved very easily so kept moving away from the headboard and the pillow would start to disappear down the back of the bed.
- Callaghan (1/5): Never stay here again shocking - Was in a lovely location Music playing till Midnight keeping us awake was asked about it got a response of your lucky it’s not a wedding on goes on longer, mould all other room 25, then after saying we can have a refund they have now refused the refund
- Danny (10/5): -
- Alan (5/5): Great hotel over zealous night manager - Reception and bar staff were nice and friendly, nice hotel in good location The night manager ruined the evening closing the bar without notice and then advising people to go to the petrol station to buy alcohol.
Must lose the hotel a lot of money, never had such a poor night manager and even called the police as a couple of people complained (they laughed it off and left).
Your night manager took great delight in telling me how he often closes the bar early, ridiculous, the hotel was full of Coventry fans that just wanted a bit of banter and a quiet drink.

- David (7/5): - Great location and value for money. Bed was a little uncomfortable. Breakfast wasn't brilliant.
- Richard (7/5): One night stop over on motorcycles - Very nice property. Set in plenty of grounds and lots of parking. The radiator valve was extremely noisy unless it was on full !!!
- Davis (10/5): Relaxing, peaceful and friendly - Location great to be able to walk up on the moors. Peaceful. Breakfast great. Staff wonderful Shower to bath tap connector didn't work but it was fixed as soon as we mentioned it. TV did not pick up internet well to watch anything

- Nigel (8/5): You can’t go wrong here. - Traditional, convenient, nice environment Budget feel to the rooms in the annexe.

- Ian (7/5): The staff made our experience excellent. - The staff cannot do any more to help with your requirements, they are incredibly helpful and welcoming. Any issue was dealt with quickly and efficiently. With a greater attention to the fine detail this property could be superb.
- Charlton (7/5): Quiet, good staff, Evening meals good ,breakfast not so . - Staff were helpful and friendly. Evening meal was very nice . Breakfast .
Quality of the food was good ,but it was all warmish. If I have a cooked breakfast I want it to be hot . The breakfast menu in the room was different to what was actually available. Luck of the draw on the coffee or water being hot .
Shower.
The bi fold door for the shower wasn't great Every time we had a shower we soaked the floor ,and the shower head was pointing away from the shower door .
- Christopher (8/5): Lovely peaceful stay -
- Jennifer (9/5): - I was on my own with two children and the staff were so friendly and helpful , it was a lovely homely atmosphere
- Lynsey (10/5): - Absolutely stunning building beautiful grounds. Well maintained . Good size car park bedroom lovely and unique with old fashioned styled bathroom . Comfy bed . Couldn't fault a thing

- Ioan (10/5): - Micul dejun excelent! Curatenie, amabilitate.......
- Sherman (10/5): A magical place to stay with the most friendly staff that make you feel like royalty - From the moment you walk in to the point of leaving, the staff are so friendly and helpful. The check in process is simple and quick and the rooms are really beautiful. It has fantastic grounds which are worth a walk around. There was nothing I didnt like. It was just so relaxing and quiet. The place is so tranquil, it is magical. If you ever find anything you do not like, the staff will immediately put it right. I had to issues so there was nothing for them to put right.
- Vanessa (6/5): -
- Vito (9/5): - Great value for money and a lovely breakfast too
- Tracy (8/5): ideal for short break - Lovely setting, good breakfast Very loud disco and nowhere quiet to sit
- Richard (10/5): -
- Steve (4/5): No hot water - Beautiful hotel set in superb setting , staff are friendly and breakfast was good There was no hot water in the morning for a shower I accepted the building was old and the feedback from the directors was to allow the taps to run , as a seasoned traveler I did of course try this , in summary the feedback was not customer focused or did it feel like the issue was really considered,
It was
Unfortunately, you may need to run the bath as well. Especially on a cold day. Our maintenance man has raised the water temperature to help address this.
I would not go back and advise you may try the shower before you check in
- Paul (8/5): Lovely Lancashire stay - Lovely old property that has been updated and furnished so well. Executive room very spacious.
Great albeit a little limited choice breakfast, excellent cooked food Party with very loud music until midnight - wasn’t given any warning of this.
- Aswin (9/5): -
- Henna (10/5): Worth the visit. - Overall the experience was amazing & staff very friendly. Will definitely be staying here again Room was slightly warm but not a major issue & the road leading to the hotel needs tlc.
- clairewJ8073EL (10/5): Fantastic Experience - We’ve just enjoyed the Sunday Roast Sharing Board, it was superb and very good value at £46!! We had plenty of beef and chicken, along with the usual accompaniments. Everything was so tasty. The desserts were 2 for £12. Which again is very good value for desserts, and were delicious.
All the staff are delightful and very helpful, we were greeted with a huge welcoming hello from Margaret and the lady on reception.
The decor is gorgeous, it’s a very impressive hotel. We absolutely loved it!! Xx
- Stephanie (4/5): Dated and tired - The food is always really nice - good breakfast options and the staff at breakfast were lovely. For £154 the ‘executive king room’ was tired, dated and needed a refurbishment. The bathroom shower was awful - a trickle of water. Not good enough for the price paid.
The receptionist failed to explain properly what she was doing with my credit card even though I had paid in advance. She was very dismissive.
The bar was far too slow - perhaps it needs to be made bigger with extra staff.
- Dee (8/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): really nice hotel - old country feel but modern - rooms were spacious, food was excellent and great value and room was well equipped no water bottles provided in the room

- Janet (9/5): - Nice location
Good breakfast
- Sophie (6/5): A lovely venue with beautiful grounds and friendly staff, though some of the rooms could benefit from a refresh. - The venue itself is beautiful and the grounds are stunning. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere and was a fantastic setting for the wedding we attended. The staff were all very friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Some of the bedrooms feel a little dated compared with the lovely main areas of the hotel. Our room was on the ground floor and could probably benefit from a bit of updating, and the bed wasn’t the most comfortable but nothing beats your own bed I suppose. We could also hear noise from neighbouring rooms during the night, but for a one-night stay it wasn’t a major issue.

- Holt (7/5): - Lovely place to stop staff very helpful and friendly would deffo stay again
- Marc (8/5): Friendly clean hotel, but beware of the drive up. - Great location, very quiet, friendly staff.
Good value for money. Room was small and a bit worn.
Breakfast was dry (fruit and croissants) , drive to the property is full of major potholes some almost sink holes…
- William (3/5): Worse sleep ever in hotel - Nice grounds handy for where we needed to be. Breakfast was good Room was dated, massive key tag for room, reception staff poor communication,
- mark (7/5): - Location, beautiful building , friendly staff. Double room mattress and pillows need upgrading , very uncomfortable .
- Warren (7/5): -
- Davies (10/5): -
- Mervyn (9/5): Lovely stay in a great hotel with a superb breakfast! - Breakfast was superb, previously stayed and it was buffet style, this time there was a menu choice which was really good, lots of choice and very high standard. Our room was also upgraded free of charge which was a nice surprise. A couple of plug sockets in our room didn't work but not a real issue
- Tom (10/5): -
- teresa (10/5): We were made very welcome - Very interesting building
- Brian (10/5): Highly recommended - A great hotel with old fashioned suburb service and freindliness
- Shaun (10/5): -
- Daniel (3/5): Disappointing - Good location and grounds It was in desperate need for some maintenance and love. Tired and needs attention
- Pauline (10/5): We had a lovely room at a bargain price… the hotel is lovely - Beautiful property … so glad we had a 4WD car and not a Ferrari … the drive is desperate Only the driveway it is full of potholes…
- Fanos (10/5): A very friendly and beautiful experience - Excellent service great customer service 👍 The best bed in a hotel i have ever had....I sleep at 4 times a week in hotels. Thank you Really good sleep The road surface to get there and lack of beers at the bar
- Gareth (9/5): -
- Sinead (9/5): Comfy and quaint - Staff very friendly

- Susan (10/5): A lovely couple of days in lovely surroundings - We attended a friends wedding at the hotel . The staff were very welcoming on arrival the receptionist tried to upgrade our room however they were all booked.
We ate dinner in the restaurant which the receptionist booked for us.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent.
The breakfast was excellent.
The wedding itself was magical and the staff certainly helped to make the day memorable.
I have told my friends about the stay and would not hesitate to recommend the venue. The shower in our room was a little unpredictable in temperature.
- Kathryn (8/5): - Very friendly & helpful staff.
Lovely food at both the evening meal and breakfast
Nice ambiance in restaurant and bar area
Comfortable and warm rooms
Very pleasant outside area - like being in the countryside just off main road
Good value for the money Can be a bit tricky to find .. Sat Nav took me up to a private house .. don’t turn up a drive until you see the hotel sign
- Jennifer (8/5): -
- Jake (10/5): Amazing - Everything Gf went home poorly
- Malcolm (8/5): We are returning guests because of the location, value for money and friendly staff. - We've stayed at Astley Bank on a number of occasions now. It is easy to get to and has plenty of free parking, The site is in a quiet location and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. We like the cosy ambiance of the old part, the bar and restaurant. The hotel offers an excellent breakfast and we also enjoyed a nicely presented and well cooked evening meal. The breakfast room was a little cramped, especially when a number of guests arrived at the same time. But this is easily outweighed by the range of food on offer and the friendly, efficient service.
- Bernadette (9/5): - Wonderful obliging staff. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent value. Nothing
- Sarah (3/5): Shall never return - Walls are very thin! Great that the couple next door had such All night fun though. Reception staff grumpy, not welcoming although not surprising considering the mass of very drunk people in the bar which is pretty much in reception.
- Neelam (1/5): - Nothing rude staff Everything
- Greg (9/5): Wonderful stay in a lovely hotel. -
- Mark (10/5): Great place to stay with very friendly staff. - Comfortable, clean, very friendly and lots of parking. Room services daily. Quiet and cosy. Nothing.
