The Riverstone Motel in Rangiora is one of the best motels in New Zealand. It’s not just its spacious room spotlessly clean and well-appointed with a very comfortable bed that give it this top honor; it’s the people that run it that gives it the edge over most other New Zealand motels. Mike and Charlotte are such wonderful hosts that the minute you meet them, you feel you have been old friend for many years. Nothing it too much trouble for Mike and Charlotte to make sure you stay is perfect. No wonder it is the only motel in Canterbury with a well-earned Qualmark 5-star gold rating for immaculate accommodation and sustainable tourism Having stayed at The Riverstone once, you will make it your Rangiora home for ever.

We couldn’t ask for any more from a hotel. There was always plenty of parking and the location was awesome next to a bistro and supermarket. The guest laundry was great and useful for our length of stay. Bed was so comfy and room was quiet aswell. Charlotte and Mike are fantastic hosts And would cater to any guests needs. We were in a 1 bedroom studio apartment upstairs, it was immaculate, lovely furnishings, very comfortable bed, good kitchen facilities and an excellent shower.

The king bed was extremely comfortable and the kitchenette was very well appointed. The owners were very helpful with dinner recommendations, and Mike went above and beyond to help me out with change for the onsite laundry. They couldn’t be more accommodating!

Convenient, quiet, and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for super friendly hosts Charlotte and Mike. Every night I'd come back to the curtains drawn and heat pump on, and arrive to a welcome back note every Monday. It was definitely my home away from home. 100% recommendation from me

Camper39079328612 (10/5): Great Hospitality and welcoming stay - Great hospitality,the managers staff were fantastic,know there guests by name,second time here and booked for April 2026.clean well presented modern rooms, had all ammenities you would expect,great for those requiring disability accommodation as well.Travel a lot and the accommodation is as good as the best. The stay for 2 nights for Anzac was amazing.
Denise (9/5): Superb - We had another wonderful stay. Great location and friendly hosts. A nice restaurant and a supermarket close by. Good kitchen and shower. Quiet and warm. The bed was a bit firm for our liking, but it's not really a big deal. We did not ask if there was a topper pad, but that could have fixed it.
Sharyn (10/5): Highly recommend - Mike and Charlotte are superb hosts. They exceed all expectations with their friendly demeanor and helpfulness. We enjoyed our stay so much that we returned just to stay there on our return trip. Location is excellent with a very good pub, serving lovely meals, next door as well as a supermarket. Nothing.

Staff were friendly and very helpful. Location was central for our activities over the weekend and very handy being next to a supermarket. We highly recommend staying here and will be back.

Louise (10/5): Excellent - The hosts were friendly, efficient & helpful. The room was very clean. Excellent shower & very comfortable bed. Parking was easy & it was quiet. The pub next door had a great selection of food & the staff were very good.
B1996XRjoc (10/5): Wonderful Stay - We have stayed at The Riverstone twice now and have not been disappointed both times. Lovely clean, comfortable and well appointed rooms with easy access to nearby supermarket and hotel next door (very convenient!) which serve great meals. Owners Charlotte and Mike are such lovely hosts, very friendly and helpful. We look forward to staying again on future trips to New Zealand, thank you so much for your hospitality
