Would definitely recommend a stay. - The North Gregory Hotel is steeped in history and that history if beautifully displayed. The owners and staff were really friendly and made us feel at home very quickly. The food is excellent - big meals - and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Set right on the main street it offers views of a picturesque town. The hotel has been lovingly restored. Lots of artwork and a slideshow to tell of Winston’s historic past.

Great food from the kitchen, and friendly and very helpful service before and after we arrived. Plenty of parking out the back, and easy after hours access for an early morning departure. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

• Gabriele (9/5): Excellent food! - The dinners were fantastic! First night I had Salmon and it was truly delicious, then we had Sheppard's Pie and, honestly, the best one we ever had! A thank you to the Chef! Obviously, it is not a new modern building.... so with that in mind there was nothing we did not like. Luckily, we had 2 beds in our room and there was sufficient space in room as well as bathroom.

• DanielProsser (10/5): True outback hospitality and class - I’ve stayed at the North Gregory many times and have many good memories and things to say; however… This recent trip was exceptionally good and really cemented this place as my favourite spot to stay in Winton. Every meal was superb (I had the pork belly twice), the staff were friendly and skilled (Irene even helped us get our Dunny Derby song on a USB), and the location on the main street is second-to-none. Much more good things to say but I’ll leave it there. Thanks!

Check-in was easy and parking close to reception. Food available and it looked tasty - though we joined friends elsewhere. Room was a little tired but the beds were comfortable. For a one-night stay it was fine. Two of us shared a room with a queen and a single bed - enough room for a visit to Winton that was not intended to be spent in a hotel room.

• Di (5/5): position in the middle of town was excellent. staff excellent and friendly. - there WAS no breakfast which was a shock to us as we had expected to be able to get breakfast prior to taking off on an early tour. the location of the hotel is excellent, easy pick-up for our tours,. liked the entertainment in the courtyard in the afternoon. loved the addition of the lift for senior people. breakfast could have been provided, or at least facilities to fix some toast, or a microwave.
• Richard (8/5): Definitely would stay here again. - Worth staying here to get a genuine country hotel experience. Our room was quite large with ensuite. Oldist but better than most of the places we stayed at during a 2 week outback car trip. Bush poet and a one man band was a great bonus. Bar and meals were good. Has a small car park at the back of the hotel. Reception told us not to park there as the birds roost in the trees. Saw a car that did park there & was covered in bird poop. There is plently of street parking. Has a small lift to get to the top floors. Useful if you have suitcases. Old and something of a novelity if you haven't used a lift with no internal doors.

• Annette (6/5): I did enjoy it overall I’m just being picky overall charm but does need a interior revamp! - The bed was comfortable and I liked how there was both a firm pillow and a soft pillow for guests. Air con was good I liked that you had plenty of milk for your tea or coffee and biscuits too nice old fashioned touch. I liked how there were doors to your room that lead onto your balcony ( even though the view wasn’t great lol) overlooking picture theatre. I know it was opened in the 1950s but the decor was really bad, bright red curtains, bright blue towels light brown blanket on bed and green cushion on bed? It puts shame on the colour scheme of the 50s not colour coordinated properly. Staff service I found a bit mechanical on repeat, no genuine welcome with a smile just a job for some not an enjoyable experience at work.

Rooms were comfy, large and had everything I needed. Live the comfy chairs out on the balconys to sit and relax! A bit loud in the morning and curtains didn’t cover over the whole window so a big bright. But incentive to get up and start exploring.

Loved the original Art Deco features, but the building is tired and needs a refresh. No breakfast available but staff happily gave us bowls and spoons for the muesli and milk that we were carrying. Carpark at rear was full, so parked o/n in the front street without issues.

The water just smells badly, uncomfortable beds not too clean! Although the meals were good no one wanted to sit outside in the beer garden because the music was always much too loud!! And all the guests we spoke to said the same. We couldn’t talk because of the music. Very limited staff!

The entertainment is excellent and even finished at 8pm so if you are staying you wont be affected by noise unless you go to bed before 8pm. Loved it all. Thanks Chris and Irene

• M2825OPkevinm (10/5): Wonderful experience - My partner and I stayed for three nights in a room overlooking the central courtyard. Check in was easy and well managed. Our room was good though if we stay again we'd opt for a room with a balcony, but otherwise it was comfortable and shower was hot and strong. We ate at the restaurant once and food was very good but queues on some nights were very long, so get in early. We needed to cut our stay short by a night and this was not a problem to management and we received a good refund. I left my glasses in our room after we left and management contacted me and organised to post them back to me. all in all it's a lovely art deco pub on the mainstreet with very friendly and hospitible staff. Definitely recommend a stay there.
