• Karolin (2/5): - When informing the staff that we would be late for our check in due to unforeseen delays in our travel, we were greeted with very rude and sarcastic comments saying that we are an inconvenience and they would have not accepted our booking if they would have known. I don’t expect much of a roadside motel but this is not how you treat customers. Furthermore the rooms were very old and in desperate need of a deep clean. Calling it “Retro” just seems like their way to get around a renovation.

• Verified traveler (4/5): Worst hotel shower experience - Owner moaned about booking site fees. Not nice welcome. Retro doesnt equal run down, not in good working order or needs deep clean. Lots of spiders 15 and mossies. No fly spray available. Checked if windows closed or holes in fly screens. No glass in one and fly screen on ground outside. Didnt feel safe. Drains blocked and backed up. Bath mat floating on floor and up to back of my heels in shower recess. Boiled jug and rewashed feet to get smell off. No wi fi. Otherwise pleasant aspect and quiet.

I left my ipods there and he called to let me know he will keep them in a safe place so I can pick them up on the way back. Great service! The rooms are basic but clean and everything you need when passing through town. Having said that he is busy renovating the rooms so watch this space...

• Julie (10/5): - Such a cool motel, I’m happy I found it. there’s so much character and you can see how extravagant it would have been in 1950s. The rooms are super clean and the manager is an awesome guy who is so interesting and really wants Your stay to be the best. The view is beautiful lush green, sometimes a little noisy with trucks on the highway but it’s ok at night to sleep I will definitely stay here again :)

• Craig (8/5): - The Plantation Retro is just ONE of those places, some people will think its out dated and should be renovated, and there is some merit to that train of thought. Some of the previous generations architecture ( pool and kiddie pool, complete with fountain) are now repurposed into a kiddies play area, and the frontal exterior of the property is a bit kitsch... But I actually enjoyed the place, we were greeted enthusiastically and welcomed aboard the Retro Express. It definitely retains its 70's construction heritage, complete with bathroom design, shower and tiling from the era, but it definitely suits the vibe. Apart from thinking it could do with a makeover.... the place is spotless and everything works as it should. Do yourself a favour and visit the adjacent pizza parlour and ask the boys to make your own special pizza. Guys like the pizza shop boys and the Retro manager who are genuinely glad to have a chat with peeps, are a breath of fresh air for us city folk. An added bonus, is watching the 40-50 Black Cockatoos fly in at dusk, to roost in the trees directly out front, have a bit of a natter, and settle down for the night. Loved the whole Tyndale vibe and visit. Cheers
