Guest Reviews
- VINITHRA (1/5): Will never stay at Portsea hotel again and will let friends know not too as well - Location was central Staff were rude. Reception was not manned .We were promised connecting bedrooms with a shared bathroom between the two rooms. What we got was like a jail cell with a sink and a line of bathrooms and loos at the end of a corridor like a hostel - felt unsafe to visit the toilets - it was appalling for the money we shelled out. The glory days of Portsea hotel are well and truly over !!!!!
- Selina (10/5): Lovely staff very clean premises nice and cozy room lovely dining area and bar food was fantastic I will definitely be r - It was just beautiful, sweet lovely accommodation very clean. Dining was fantastic beautiful food definitely will return. Nothing, it was really wonderful

- Ernst (10/5): Comfortable stay and stunning beach view. - Clean comfortable and stunning sea view. The steak/dinner we had at the restaurant, for the price, was average .
- Maggie (10/5): Wonderful location, helpful staff and excellent accomodation. - Great Welcome on arrival. Our suite was amazing and such good value.. So clean, beds so comfy. View of sea and a wonderful sunset enjoyed.
We also enjoyed a beautiful eye fillet dinner …cooked to perfection.
Excellent wine choices and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. What is there to not like here!

- Julie (6/5): There’s a lot to like about this stay and things to improve on - Location is 10/10 Parking is not adequate , room sound proofing not adequate .
- Joe (7/5): - Everything In the morning, I wanted better breakfast options and better coffee. Lost opportunity here.

- Michelle (8/5): Overall a great stay. Comfortable, clean, value for money - Location was excellent. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Food and drinks were great, enjoyed in the pub bar by the fireplace. Maybe more bathmats as the tiles in the bathroom were cold.
- Ferguson (7/5): -
- Lisa (8/5): - Location, room was lovely A bit noisy but to be expected in a busy hotel
- Huixuan (10/5): -
- Kim (7/5): Great stay at beautiful Portsea - Location , right on the sea , old world charm Room was cold , a bit musty
- Zenobia (4/5): Love the location, beautiful bar and dining setting. But food was terrible, lack lustre staff and unfriendliness. There - Views, scenery, beach access, location Shared bathrooms not regularly cleaned. Room carpets worn and stained, customer experience needs improvement
- Jamie (7/5): Overall it was a nice stay - Staff were really nice and very helpful.
Great location and the view overlooking the bay is absolutely beautiful.
Breakfast was really nice.
The rooms were well presented and very clean
The bed was comfortable too. We thought the dinner was very average and we were actually pretty disappointed as we love our pub meals but that was pretty standard.
We stayed in the rooms upstairs with the shared bathrooms will say they were kept clean but they do need to be renovated.
- Tamar (8/5): Ok - Quaint hotel Not within walking distance of anything
- Michael (9/5): Location, location, location. - The location was superb. The rooms were roomy and up to date in a period building. The dining room was very good. Nothing
- Shamsha (5/5): - At the time of booking its not mention the bathroom not attached with the room
It's shared bathroom and toilet
Very disappointed and discomfort
- Sebastian (9/5): - Location, price and comfy beds Inexperienced staff, charged me full price when they had food deals on
- Monika (8/5): Enjoyable - Na Parking and a lift for older or disabled people
- Tim (7/5): -
- Rob (7/5): Good and basically comfortable. Due to communal bathroom I would not book again unless there was no - The property is beautifully located. Outdoor and indoor seating was great. Reception staff were great. The room was very clean. The communal bathrooms are a detracting feature. Because of that i would not have booked elsewhere but there was little else available at the time. The cost of beer and wine was way too high. Some of the bar staff were good. Most need to be reminded or retrained about what the 'hospitality' industry is about and what its goals are .... to be friendly and welcoming.

- Laura (8/5): - Portsea Hotel offered great accommodation, right on the beach with spacious rooms. We particularly enjoyed the view on the water and modern furnishings of the historic building. The Beds and linen were very comfy. The little touches of complimentary mineral water, slippers, robes and tea/coffee/biscuits were lovely additions. The location was great with only a short drive to the hot springs and other seaside towns such as Sorrento. There was EV charging available onsite too. We ran out of time to try the on-site restaurant but would stay here again. There were only some minor things which we would recommend for improvement. There was a loud generator/humming noise right near the front of the building which echoed in the room. If we weren't so exhausted from driving and doing activities, we would have found it difficult to sleep with. The steps into the room were also quite noisy/would creak a lot so it was hard to leave the room without waking others. The concierge also kindly showed us our room but didn't offer to carry our luggage up the floor so this could be noted for future guests, particularly if elderly. Lastly, we would have loved the option for breakfast room service or late check out in busy periods.
- Danielle (9/5): Fabulous place to stay. Service and staff were amazing. Location stunning. Room was very cute, clean and comfortable. Wi -

- de Paor (10/5): I’d go back in a heartbeat.. - A wonderful historical hotel in a stunning location. We were there on magical sparkling summer days & it could not have been more perfect. Wish rooms were a tad bigger.
- Karen (10/5): - Convenient location. Great views. Lovely place to stay and celebrate at!
- Jane (8/5): Very pleasant - Very good , just what we wanted. Everything was fine
- Marnie (4/5): - The location is brilliant and this is such a beautiful iconic building. The food in the restaurant was lovely and the restaurant staff were very attentive and friendly. The general manager did not smile at all.. very unfriendly.
No bedside lamps which made it difficult for my elderly parents to find their way during the night to the bathroom. No decent photographs of the rooms to gauge what they’re like on the website or even once requested.. we were in room number one which was incredibly loud and noisy right throughout the night. The noise!! It was like the engine of a ship humming. I barely got any sleep.
- Marina (7/5): - The location and the restaurant. The staff was friendly. Only partial view of the ocean. I had roof in from of the window which was covered in bird droppings.
- qi (8/5): -
- Alexandra (10/5): Perfect - Very helpful staff. Would have liked more milk!!
- belinda (7/5): -
- Mary (5/5): Parking - Parking, 1 hour street parking
- Francis (10/5): Great place to stay in Portsea - We had an issue with our booking such that we couldn't make it on the dates due to a family emergency. The hotel were very accommodating and understanding of the circumstances and could rearrange alternatives.
I have been to this hotel before and would recommend them very highly. Thank you to the great staff for great customer service!

- Jacqueline (9/5): Good family one night stay - Excellent location . Beach views and outdoor sitting area has lovely sea views . Rooms not very soundproofed. Could hear people in next room quite clearly .

- Farrant (9/5): -
- Seamus (10/5): Great Place, well worth the stay! - The hotel team were very quick to act when there was a leak in the room. Changed to a different room - a suite I may add, in the space of a few minutes. Staff were very kind and attentive. NA

- Carmen (9/5): - Loved the location.
The room was clean and bright. One of the draws in the bathroom had what looked like an old blood stain. Then sitting on the bed and looking at the bar fridge you could see lots of finger prints where people would put their hands to open. Three code machine also had dust and fluff all over it.
Otherwise everything else was excellent.
- Larisa (7/5): -
- Julie (10/5): - Great vibe, comfy room, location do the millionaires' walk... Bit noisy, although I quite liked it but annoyed hubby a bit, although all went quiet at a reasonable hour
Food there is not great but popular..we recommend the French cafe at the other end of the parade of shops for breakfast and lunch
- Richard (8/5): -
- IAN (8/5): -
- M Risoli (9/5): - The beds were very comfy, the room has everything you need, the family suite is well sized with a nice sofa and a cosy living room. Despite having the bedroom windows facing the Beer Garten we had an amazing night sleep, things might be different during the weekend though! The bathroom could be updated, it can get noisy depending on patrons in the courtyard but that's the character of the place!
- Miranda (9/5): -
- Kevin (8/5): - Location excellent
- Brian (10/5): - All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Location
- Paul (9/5): Enjoyable - A lift for easier access to function room
- XUYE (9/5): -
- Isabelle (7/5): Good - Really great location, right next to the beach
Room was clean and bigger than I expected
Easy check out process you just leave your key in a box and leave by the check out time Doesn’t have parking - ok to use the local public parking but you will have to move your car every 2 hrs outside of 6pm-8am.
Noise from hallways while trying to sleep - other guests were not loud but it’s an older property without a lot of soundproofing, kind of like sleeping in bedrooms in a larger house you can hear when people are coming and going. Deep sleepers will probably be ok.
- Kathryn (4/5): Disappointing, especially for the amount we paid. - The location & view was lovely It smelt like it needs air, not just our Apartment but the whole upstairs.
Our accommodation was dirty.
- Rachel (7/5): Wedding guest solution! - Convenience and location Didn’t really have a window
- Sven (6/5): - The staff The Hotel has seen his best times a while ago
- Jan (8/5): -
- Nikitha (7/5): Good - Love the place stunning views and the hotel rooms were comfy The shared bathrooms were not clean. Given its shared the expectation was it was cleaned multiple times but they didn’t look like they were. Toilets smelled bad too.
- Joanne (8/5): -
- MARGARITA (8/5): I wouldn’t book here again especially since it was a shared bathroom - Everything except the size of the room. The room was small and seemed everything was squeezed in
- Tony (10/5): -
- Effie (9/5): Comfort, great location, friend staff! Would book again! - Location was amazing, beach views, beds were so comfy and staff were friendly and accommodating.
- Erin (5/5): -
- Song (9/5): -
- Leanne (10/5): -
- Jim (9/5): -
- Nancy (8/5): Nice place to have a beautiful holidays. - The cleaning standards, the location and the amenities of the room was exceptional.
- Justin (2/5): Communal bathrooms and showers in tiny small print upon booking that 99% of people would miss compounded with no parking - Hard to say. The bouncers were nice. There you go. A hotel that offers accommodation on the main strip of a coastal town with zero parking 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
- Forscutt (8/5): - Rooms were clean and heritage Poor wifi, and a bit loud
- Ruth (8/5): - Comfy rooms in wonderful location Dining options were confusing and very little choice outside the hotel
- Kloud (8/5): Perfect for a holiday stay - Very clean , very comfortable bed Hard to find parking around the hotel. No designated area for parking.
Toilets are separate from rooms so its kinda noisy when people slams doors to go to the toilets
- Michael (10/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Matthew (10/5): Excellent - Great location comfortable rooms
- maleki (8/5): -
- Peter (9/5): -
- Bronwyn (8/5): -
- JCCH82 (9/5): - The property had character. It is a nice hideaway for a day or two. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nil
- Guest (2/5): The room was extremely noisy with creaking floors and no view, making it overpriced for the experience. - Nice view from the restaurant Very noisy floors, they creak with every step, and you can hear other guests going to the bathroom throughout the night. The sound insulation is really poor. We couldn’t sleep because of all the noise.
The window faces the air-conditioning units and a ventilation duct, so there is absolutely no view.
Overall, the stay was not worth the price.
- Sandra (9/5): -
- Tyndall (8/5): - Staff were super helpful and friendly. Much appreciated 👏 I kept getting lost finding my room!
- Jacqui (10/5): -
- Lynn (9/5): - The room was large with a nice view and the hotel was lovely along with friendly staff
