Guest Reviews
- Pamela (9/5): Was very comfortable - Was very clean, good location. Could have done with a microwave.
- Kathrine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (6/5): Comfortable stay despite some shortcomings - The town of Geeveston is a great base to explore the southern area. (Hartz Mountain NP, Tahune Airwalk, Hastings Caves and Thermal pool, and the road to Cockle Creek). The room was clean and the beds very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and showers hot. It was very quiet at night. I felt safe, with main door kept closed after hours. It had self check-in, guided by a manager on the phone. The main foyer had old comfy furniture and a fire place for winter. Very little cupboards or hanging space in the room. Had to use one of the bunk beds to house our suitcases, and hang things off.
I didn't read the fine print and was not aware the room would not have a bar fridge or tea/coffee making facilities in it.
There was a small bar fridge in the corridor which was shared with the 5 rooms. The kettle was on top, but the cups and coffee and tea/sugar was on a table in the foyer. The corridor with the 5 rooms was being re-plastered and painted the whole 4 days we were there. The "tea room"/Cafe was not operating except on the weekends (which was when we left!). The Booking.com website needs updating to reflect current circumstances. There were phone numbers you could ring to get help, but there appeared to be no-one on site.
I think the motel is in transition of ownership which might explain these issues. It seems strange to be doing such big renovations in February.
- Trevor (7/5): Very good except for the bed. - Room was neat and clean with a bit of old world charm and character. The bed left like you were sleeping with your head downhill. Needs new bed.
- Marion (8/5): Very good -
- Marion (8/5): Very good -
- Clifford (8/5): Very good - Location was great Main bed was too small.
- Felix (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jodie (6/5): Pleasant -
- Christine (4/5): Disappointing - The beds The rest of it
- Bill (9/5): Met our needs for the night - location was Room was rustic but comfortable Overhead Light and one bedside light not working
- Maree (8/5): Great location and with a few tweaks would be fantastic stop over - Great location. Quirky comfy Bit more communication from the on-site manager would’ve been helpful
- Burgess (9/5): Superb -
- Benny (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (5/5): Room served a purpose but fell a little short in some areas - Location, comfortable bed. No coffee cups, no milk you had to keep going into dark/cold hallway to use kettle. There was no spare blanket to wrap up in.
- Courtney (10/5): Amazing! - I actually loved the fact we didn't have to go through lengthy check ins, just a text message with a pin number for the door There was 1 shared kettle and bar fridge for the 4 rooms, felt very awkward and there was no mugs out we had to go to the Cafe and borrow some, not a big deal but would be nice to have these in every room
- Rosalyn (9/5): Reasonably priced hotel in great location close to Huon Hwy - Our family room was spacious, clean, and just what we needed for a one-night stay. The hotel was located nearby to other shops and was within walking distance to a playground and a Platypus Walk, which was great for letting the kids burn off some energy before our next destination. There was a communal fridge for keeping our food cold, which we would have preferred in our room, although it wasn't a deal breaker at the end of the day.
- Trevor (2/5): Very poor -
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Pierre (8/5): Very good -
- Janice (6/5): all good - N/a didn't have any supplied We thought there was a Restaurant but that was a mistake.
- Greg (2/5): Accommodation was not available, and the Restaurant was closed. -
- Graham (9/5): Excellent. Room was very comfortable and clean. Very quiet. -
- Gp (2/5): This is not a B&B - The staff member was very polite Advertised as breakfast inc , told no longer available and it was free anyway. One small bar fridge in passage to service 5 B&B rooms, had no room to store anything, also only one kettle and toaster , remote had to stay in passage to service all rooms and finally had to purchase own milk as they ran out for a cuppa was advised by staff member she was running late for her other job and would get some later
- Anderson (10/5): Amazing, wonderful, magical and inspiring - Soy and Dan were the highlight of our stay at the bears over the mountain! There was nothing we didn't like
- Baker (8/5): Very good -
- Mills (9/5): Superb -
- Andrea (8/5): Great place to stay - Saw a platypus. Lovely & informative welcome. Loved the bears! Thought place was closed at checkin .Signs still up for restaurant even though it's been closed for awhile. Some noise from other rooms.
- Laura (9/5): Perfect Place to Launch Hikes and Explorations - Cute place with perfect location for getting to Farmhouse Creek trailhead. Staff were super friendly and greeted us on arrival. Town centre is great as is the Kermandie Pub. Wish we'd had.own kettle in the room but I think the cafe closure is recent and this is a temp fix. Great value.
- Stephen (8/5): Very good -
- Joanne (9/5): Very enjoyable, all wants accommodated, great service and will be going back soon:-) - Breakfast was delightful and very enjoyable. The hosts were very accommodating and provided breakfast before hours. Thank you :-)
- Sunshine (9/5): A charming place to stay in the heart of Geeveston. - Comfortable, spacious rooms. Breakfast was incredible. central location made it easy to walk to everything. Wonderful welcoming host. The cafe isn’t currently operating, it would have just made the stay that little bit easier if we could have had other meals/snacks there. Otherwise no complaints at all
- Jennifer (6/5): Pleasant -
- Matt (8/5): Very good -
- Lang (7/5): Good - great location, quiet and comfortable. only a few rooms, so make sure you book early. nothing
- Joel (9/5): Superb - the room was clean and well appointed the electric blanket on the bed didn't work and it was a little cold
- Clare (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (8/5): great place very central and comfortable - Breakfast was a lovely cooked breakfast served in a delightful dining room. The B and B was very central to Geeveston and close to the local bus stop which was handy. lovely walks nearby along the kermandie river There was very little toilet paper when we arrived. We were provided with more in due course but had to to go to the local supermarket to purchase as our need became urgent.
- Lorraine (4/5): expected more from a 'boutique ' hotel. obvious the place is up for sale. website should be changed - breakfast was fine. no sugar offered with coffee orders on either morning expected dining room to be open, it wasn't. only 1 shampoo 1 conditioner and 1 soap for 2 people for2 nights. used shampoo tp wash hands at the basin, sorry, not good enough. had to put toilet roll into room off outside table, asked for more soap.... never arrived
- Jennifer (8/5): Very good - We chose the property based on the breakfast reviews and were not dissapointed! Served fresh and hot next to the cosy log fire.
- Rosemaree (6/5): The breakfast and location were great. It would be fine if you wanted a nice place to sleep & eat. - The breakfast was terrific with poached eggs, bacon, baked beans and mushrooms. The location was central in the town with close access to the supermarket. There was no table in room with a good light for using a computer or writing and the internet access wasn't given. The bottom bunk was too close to the top one, so it was difficult to sit up. The air conditioner control and just a small fridge was shared in the hallway, and this was very dark at night. It was also difficult to see the contact numbers on the main door for access.
- David (8/5): Very good - Breakfast excellent. we had to share the single heating control provided with four other rooms and we needed to go outside our room (into the hall) to make tea and/or coffee
- Hallie (9/5): Superb -
- Zoe (5/5): Closest stay to ‘Faulty Towers’ we have ever experienced. Will not be returning - central location and comfortable bed The owner was quite rude and sulky. Service non existent. Rooms although bed was comfortable, we’re very cold. we had to plead to have more wood on living room fire.
- Lynne (1/5): needs improvement for us to consider staying there again - not a lot No one to let us in. Had to ring a number and wait. When we asked to see the rooms the lady became quite testy and remained that way the remainder of our stay. only paper cups for our tea or coffee and you had to make them out in the hall as there were no facilities in the rooms and no glasses supplied. Breakfast was edible but the bread was only waived over the toaster.
- De (9/5): Superb -
- O'brien (7/5): Nice stay - Breakfast was great Please do not be so tight on the bathroom gel provided
- Shilpa (9/5): Superb -
- Gregory (8/5): Very good - Everything- great location, beautiful breakfast, very comfortable bed in a well prepared room with private ensuite , friendly and helpful hostess . Having only two nights there.
- Kirrilee (6/5): Pleasant -
- Glenice (8/5): Loved it as did all the people who stayed at same time - Breakfast was lovely. We enjoyed the atmosphere and ambience of the place. The owner and her husband could not be more attentive. Can you please tell me why this app would not allow me to give higher scores and would only allow me to put in the second highest which was not what i wanted to put in - i wanted the higest. Nothing everything was fantastic

Just a different way to stay. Walking distance to creek with playypus in it Just a shame no restaurant, though I do understand why. Hope someone takes over lease soon.
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - Quaint little bed and breakfast. Room was comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic. Ensuite was big and heating was great.
- Courtis (9/5): Comfortable stay in quaint BNB with great cooked breakfast. Geeveston a lovely find. - Location was great. Easy to organise access to property to suit our arrival time.
Lovely cooked breakfast. Quirky bear theme throughout. A couple of minor things. No mugs or cups with tea / coffee. Not a lot of hot water late afternoon.

- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Nick (9/5): Quirky, comfortable and fun place to stay. - Outstanding breakfast and coffee. A large and characterful room with a very comfy bed and super bathroom. Dinner not available and nowhere else open in town, so had to drive.

- Marjon (10/5): The Bears was an excellent option for my short stay in Geeveston. Clean, warm and friendly. - The Bears was in a great, centrally located position. Parking was right in front of the door. My room was very comfortable and the bed was awesome. A nice hot shower, all very clean. I enjoyed a wonderful hot , cooked breakfast which was catered to my special dietary requests. A cozy fire was burning in the dining room each morning. Audrey was friendly and helpful. Tea making facilities were right outside my door. Will stay here again! No complaints at all. Value for money and exactly as described. Could hear some car noise outside but that didn’t bother me in the slightest.
- Karyn (7/5): Enjoyable stay and great base for Hartz peak walk. The Geeveston info centre is excellent. - Great breakfast. Comfy bed. Fob access works very well.
- Nerralie (5/5): Passable -

- Noela (7/5): just ok. only owner to run it - location bathroom vanity. no hot water. no staff. only owner
- Don (7/5): Good -
- Marta (8/5): Nice place to stay - good location
great breakfast the bed matress is way too soft.
- Donna (8/5): Very good - Lovely host. Pretty town and handy location to Huon attractions. Quaint restaurant and lovely food.
- Ruth (9/5): Great - Brekkie was just what we needed N/a
- Jennifer (6/5): Needs maintenance and hospitality trading for the management. - Good location, quaint, bedroom nicely decorated. No tea and coffee making facilities in each room, was shared and the fridge wasn’t working for the milk, cracked bathroom vanity, 2 bulbs not working in bathroom, breakfast very amateur with small servings, no choice of breakfast time, 8:00 am is quite late for a lot of people touring.

- Jennifer (8/5): Very good -
- Dennis (8/5): Very good -
- Ian (9/5): Bears Flew Over the Mountain is in a great location, comfortable guest house and highly recommended - The Bears Flew Over the Mountain was a great B&B guest house in Geeveston., Our breakfast was a cooked one, very tasty, all you could want, and included in the tariff. Good set-out point for the Tahune tree walks. Our hostess was warm and friendly, too. Good animal watching location around sunset. Had to park in the street, with a time limit, but not patrolled. Everything was OK otherwise.

- Wendy (8/5): Lovely, quaint B&B. - We loved the antique, yet comfy bed, the large bath tub, the wood fire & the delicious breakfast that the lovely owner made for us. She also provided informative information on the platypus who live in the local creek. Unfortunately we couldn’t wait for Mr Platypus, so I bought a post card of a platypus photo! Well done to the owner of Bears Went over the Mountain! We were in room 2 on 26.11.22. All great.
