The view of the town was lovely. Breakfast ordinary but appreciated the wine and chocolate

It was a simple process for access and my stay was peaceful and relaxing. Would definitely go again - my room had a fabulous view of Daylesford sunsets.

- Suzanne (6/5): Quirky but not right for us, - We appreciated the generosity of our host & the quirky historical aspect of the building. However as an older couple, we found many factors difficult. Because we had suitcases (travelling for 3 weeks) space was a real challenge, not to mention getting the cases up the steep stairs. Iād imagined thereād be someone to assist & that weād meet our host. The bath is definitely not for us. We decided weāre the wrong demographic to stay here.

- Daniel (10/5): Very Classy Edwardian Stay - We had an amazing 4-night stay here, the room is beautifully appointed with a lot of Edwardian charm. Very comfortable, and being able to use the fireplace added to the romantic charm! Very warm even in winter, and very conveniently located near the main street of Daylesford.

I was disappointed the Jacuzzi was out of order as that, for me was the main reason I booked this particular place and was my search parameter. That should have been mentioned on the Expedia website.

- Jennifer (8/5): A trip back in time in charming rooms - A beautiful, large old home, a trip back in time in terms of its size and decor. We loved the very large and charming Plum Room, lovely decoration, view over the town, wonderfully quiet. Showering a bit messy because it's to be done with a hand held shower in a bath with no screening - as it would have been in days gone by. Mattress close to needing replacement. A few cobwebs. Parking at back of house. Helen, the manager, is very friendly and helpful.

We loved the rustic charm of the room and decor, and the view from our upstairs window, with conveniently placed armchairs, was lovely in the evening and also to wake up to. Additional welcoming touches that included a bottle of wine and generous continental breakfast items (some of which we were also able to take on a picnic) made it really enjoyable. Onsite parking and garden surrounds added to the experience. Within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Highly recommend!

- Shari (10/5): - The manse was a beautiful place to stay (we stayed 3 nights) the sumptuously decorated, our room was extremely beautiful to be in; The bed was exceptionally comfortable, the bath was gigantic, and I believe the l toilet rates a mention.. although modern plumbing was used and it was immaculately clean as everything else in the place, it was like going back in time... to understand you have to visit! Was even notified before book intime that our room was ready, great service/communication. Bottle of wine, chocolate and packet of biscuits were delightfully supplied extras. Can definitely recommend without hesitation. š

The toilet does not have a conventional toilet seat, but a wooden board like a drop toilet with a hole in centre, which would be very difficult to sanitise; also it is in a small cupboard-like room with no ventilation when the door is closed. We appreciated the biscuits, chocolate, wine & breakfast supplies, but even these could not tempt us to stay the second night, even though booked & pre-paid. Dusty & not recommended for people with asthma/allergies.

- Richard (10/5): - The Manse is a wonderful place to stay. Daylesford is very cold in August but The Manse was cozy and well warmed despite its grand scale. There was even an open fire ready to go in our room, and the huge bathtub was wonderfully warming. The building is stylish throughout, each room decorated in a sensual individual colour theme. The welcoming gifts of chocolate, biscuits and a great red wine were appreciated. We had the whole place to ourselves for our winter midweek stay. Helen the manager was very welcoming and showed us around. We will definitely be back soon and next time will book some of the well being therapies. The brass bathtub alone would be worth it! The room featured a kitchenette and had plunger coffee, teas, fresh milk, orange juice, breakfast cereals, a microwave and all the necessary crockery and so on. Buy some locally baked bread and you are set for a scrumptious breakfast.

We stayed in the Zebra room with everything you need including real milk and real ground coffee, and an open fire. Great value and we would definitely stay here again.

- Kelly (4/5): - Extremely poor cleanliness ruined experience. Whomever made the bed must have been eating something as they did it as there were crumbs on the sheets near the pillows. No staff were present so had no one to raise issue with to get clean sheets so had to just try brush the crumbs off the sheets. Floor wasn't clean- there was a nut on the floor probably from the same source as the crumbs on bed. Some sort of sticky gum or lollie was stuck to the floor near the kitchenette. Shelf under mirror wasn't clean- had a clear mark from a water glass. The only important thing to expect from accommodation is for it to be clean.

There were lots of little unexpected extra gifts that we weren't expecting and this more than made up for the rainy weather outside, and the open fire was very much appreciated of the cold wet evenings.

- Suzanne (10/5): Fabulous stay - What a fabulous find The Manse was. We stayed 2 nights mid-winter and it was wonderful. 5 minutes walk to the main shops, on site parking, lovely views and a very old-world atmosphere which is just perfect when visiting Daylesford. We enjoyed the spa pool/ jacuzzi and then returned to our room for a quiet wine in front of an open fire. We'd definitely stay here again .

The real fireplace was just fantastic, we loved firing it up on the cold evenings. Bed was super cosy and comfy. Couldn't find any cobwebs or dust. - Gary (6/5): - Overall the place was good. What I was disappointed with was the bathroom - lack of space and light. Also the room only has a bath - for a romantic getaway this would be great but not on a hot day where you just want a shower to cool off. The property could do with some general maintenance - the deck as you enter looks like it will collapse soon, the gardens look unloved and the rooms could do with a top to bottom clean (lots of cobwebs). Also there was a button missing in the toilet.

The historic building has a distinctive character and the room was clean and contained the necessary amenities. Helen made sure the booking was smooth and untroubled and we were welcomed with the added touches of wine and chocolate.
- Daphne (6/5): - We were not aware that there were 2 flights of steps. We were on a 4 week road trip so had 2 heavy suitcases and an esky. It was very difficult getting our luggage into our room. We are both in our 70's so getting in and out was a health and safety issue for us. This needs to be stated in property's description. We were not able to contact the manager.
