Guest Reviews
- Paul (10/5): - excellent stay for two nights on a work trip, cheap, no frills stuck in the 70's but thats the charm of the place. reception was quick and painless, was left alone my whole stay which i love, spent my time eating and sleeping. great to catch up on sleep :-)
- Paul (6/5): - Either needs urgent work done...yes, it's old..or a bulldozer....went to use toaster for brekky...filthy. Ants everywhere.... can't say where they came from but ended up in our clothes etc. I guess we got what we paid for..it had been discounted...but there appears to be little choice in Leongatha
- Graham (8/5): - The heater was areal bonus
- Jo-Anne (8/5): - Clean. It’s only got a little heater took a while to warm the room. Electric blanket was awesome
- Michael (8/5): - Cosy, comforable room. Bathroom a bit basic place but all in all a lovely place for a one night stay
- Hayley (8/5): - Nice and quiet,clean and tidy
- Philip (10/5): - Structurally, it was a standard old-style 1960s motel room. It was clean and bright, and it happened to be well-heated ahead of our arrival on a very cold 2 degree night in June, and it was well-sealed, with no draughts. There were electric blankets on both beds in our twin room and spare blankets and pillows in the wardrobe. The beds were good and I slept better there than I had in weeks at home. There were cups, glasses and wine-glasses, and milk in the fridge. It was situated on the far edge of town, on the road to Meeniyan and was therefore very quiet, with little traffic driving past. It had a view over to the rolling hills that are so picturesque around here. The owner, Ian, was very easy to deal with.
- Glenys (8/5): - Stayed at property to have day surgery at local hospital. Met all my needs for this
- susan (10/5): - Needs a refurb but it’s great value and has everything you need . Excellent value , nice and quiet too
- Len (6/5): - Stay was adequate. Broken shower door, faulty electricals.
- Cheryl (4/5): - Clean crisp sheets on bed, warm & quiet. Definately in need of some love. Shower was mouldly & big eucalyptus in need of urgent attention as it is likely to drop diseased limbs at anytime.
- Maureen (6/5): - Comfortable bed, good heater, bathroom tired but good set up, shower door needed attention, good to have toaster & plates for a light breakfast. Enjoyed our stay.
- Thomas (10/5): - Great location
Easy check-in
Good rooms
Close to centre of town
- Ann-Marie (4/5): - No maintenance since 1980
- Wei Hsin (4/5): - Wifi is not working at all. The toilet is not fully cleaned.
- martin (8/5): Pleasant location - Good sized room, traditional decor
Good location near town
- susan (8/5): - Older style property that represents good value for money .
Not fancy but comfortable , clean and quiet .
- ATR (8/5): - Great little motel. We'll definitely be booking again
- Michael (6/5): - Well priced, close to Leongatha central and quiet.
- Meghan (4/5): - While the bed was clean and comfortable, the whole place looks as if it’s stuck in the 70’s. The towels are so threadbare I’d say they’re also from that era. In need of a good updating and general tidy-up, as there was a lot of cobwebs in my room, despite it being full booked last night, would have been worth a go-around and de-cobweb. It’s alright for a 1 night stay if passing through, especially if just one person travelling for work.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Room review - Room have tiny insects and a fly. Bed sheet is crumpled, seems like it’s not been changed. Place smells musky.
A positive is shower water pressure is high/ great.
- Melisa (6/5): - This place is very dated, but priced accordingly. The online description was very accurate. Well stocked with clean glasses, ect. And a lovely BBQ area.
- Garry (8/5): - Convenient
- Rhonda (6/5): - The room was very basic and is exceptionally outdated; needs a major upgrade.
The mattress on the bed wasn’t great and the bedding was very poor quality. The towels were very thin, no pile at all.
It’s one redeeming quality was that it was clean
- Steve (8/5): - We stayed a few days in December. A good location, facilities are a little aged. Bed was quite comfortable, shower was good. Had everything we needed.
- Janice (10/5): Quiet retreat - Manager very receptive to our modest needs as was on previous stays. Fixtures and room amenities suit our vintage and rural background. Place of choice for our next visit to the area.
- Stacey (10/5): - Haven’t been here for a while but as always Ian was there , friendly smile and a chat. He’s lovely. The place is in great location. If you need to go to Leongatha give it a go
- Peter (8/5): - I had a room @ the front of the motel & it has a beautiful view to the west where you could view the sunset etc. The front garden (which my room open on to) is beautiful with a particularly big tree. The room itself was functional & had all the things you could require.
- Sarabjit (6/5): - Easy location, however, dusty and needs upliftment in every aspect.
- Craig (10/5): - Great place to stay, just needs a lit Opal Motel sign for night time arrivals( we missed it twice).
- Andrea (8/5): - The motel is very clean and convenient. The rooms have a microwave, kettle and toaster which is great, however no tea towel or dishwashing liquid.
Reasonably priced motel.
- Leanne (4/5): - Dusty smells beds under beds cobwebs
- Lyn (4/5): - Walkable to town centre. Some lovely eateries. The room we stayed in needed a bit of TLC. Our shower screen didn’t work and a tap dripped all night in the sink as we were unable to turn it off. On the plus side when we arrived it was very organised and we were able to access our room early.
- Victoria (8/5): - Room was comfortable with limited amenities. Furniture adequate but chairs need shampooing. Bathroom power socket was taped with sticky tape which would not be safety compliant. Sufficiently comfortable and clean otherwise.
- Christopher (10/5): - Good budget accommodation. Easy late check in. Perfect for what we needed
- Nigel (8/5): - Was licak and convenient
- Geoff (4/5): - Very old and dirty, definitely not a 3 star motel and not worth $130 per night.
- Peter (6/5): - Very old and basic and in need of an upgrade. However was very clean and comfortable.
- Rosemary (8/5): - Note on reception door telling me key in room no idea where to leave key when vacating
- Robert (8/5): - A Budget Motel, Maybe built in the late 70s, would benefit form a renovation. Suited my needs for the night we stayed.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Wifi didnt work,
- Kenny (8/5): - Ok!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was good but we had ants and bugs in our room. The bed was comfy and had a heated blanket. The bathroom was clean the appliances were abit outdated. I suppose it suffice for our purpose of visiting
- Christopher (10/5): - The bed and pillows were very comfortable.
- Michael (8/5): - Clean. comfortable, affordable and quiet.
- John (8/5): - Older style units, spotlessly clean. We’d stay there again.
- Linda (6/5): - I get that this was not a 5 star facility, however, the beds can definitely do with a substantial increase in the comfort and quality. I’m always surprised to find stiff and uncomfortable beds in motels. After all, that’s what a motel is right? A place to sleep..!!!
- Tina (4/5): - Turned up at 14:30 only to find reception closed and a note on the door showing what number room we were in. Go to the room only to find another couple in there. Called reception they were half an hour away. Arrived & spoke to the couple in what was meant to be our room, mixed communication, we get asked if we would take their room instead because “all the rooms were the same”. I had paid for an upgraded room in my booking but felt I didn’t get that. The room smelled, carpet was stained, woke up to things crawling on us & a spider coming down from the ceiling fan. Room very outdated & run down.
- Peter (4/5): - The room was unrenovated, the shower base filthy black, the toilet seat rough to sit on due to age. Couch in the room was dirty and under the bed there was a used cup and a inhaler of some sort as well as mountains of dirt. For over $100 it was of a very poor standard.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great spot but need more care between guests - Generally the room was well equipped. Unfortunately the carpet was very dirty, it hasn’t been vacuumed for a while. Table and surfaces were not clean either. Such a great spot so it was disappointing.
- Colin (4/5): Grim - This place was pretty grim. Old, tired, dusty and lacking in any style. The wifi was terrible
- Greg (4/5): - Old, broken shower water dripping all night
- Clinton (8/5): - .
- susan (8/5): - Good basic motel in a quiet part of town.
Does the job and is fine for the price .
Some of the reviews are really bad but I think it’s ok for what I expected .
Good heating
- Garry (8/5): - Warm and cosy budget stay
- Kirralee (8/5): - Staff were very friendly and accommodating towards a late check-in. The heater was on in our room at arrival. Facilities were as expected for price paid, old but in working condition. Room was mostly clean but attention not given to small details e.g. dust on top of light switches, cobwebs in toilet. Overall I was happy with our experience of staying overnight as a half way point in our travels.
- Sue (6/5): - The motel is quite old and needs a Reno
- Robert William (6/5): - Cleanliness, bathroom condition and linen.
- Ivana (10/5): - Everything was okey :) We arrived 2 hours earlier and the host did not make a big deal out of it :)
- Nichola (8/5): - I loved my room and large bathroom it was very quiet and convenient. There was a slight smell to the room and a few spiders webs and ants. Otherwise, it was great.
- Janet (2/5): - Enjoyed the view.
- Barry (4/5): - Too far out of town.
- Ferdinand (4/5): - Sorry, but tired and not clen. Needs maintenance.
Bed was clean, no problem there
- Andrew (6/5): - The carpets and room needs a good clean also had to remove the battery from the smoke alarm as it kept going off every half an hour and the reception wouldn't answer the door at 7pm to fix the issue.
- Stuart (6/5): - The property is quite old and has not been updated. Still has original carpet
- Samrat (4/5): - The room was smelling very bad and stinky. There are cob webs all around and the beds are very bad.
- Anita (8/5): - Good quiet location, value for money
- David (4/5): - I felt it lacked soap as the dispenser were epty coffee provided but nothing else I would not recomend worst accom I have had
- john (10/5): - Fantastic.
- Judy (6/5): - Very dated noisy air conditioning poorly located. Room was clean and tidy despite its age. Room charge reflected the shortcomings.
- David (10/5): - We enjoyed our 3-night stay. Opal is clean, everything we needed was there and worked well. Management was responsive to special requests. Sure, it is dated, but for the price we thought it was excellent value.
- Maria (10/5): - Amazing staff, clean and comfy. Excellent value for money.
- Andrew (8/5): - It is a basic motel but it was good.
- nEIL (8/5): - Was excellent value, though a bit noisy with road noise. Location good with easy access.
- Stacy (2/5): - It was old dingy and filthy
- Elke (2/5): - It was dirty and greasy.
- Maarit (8/5): - Big room and yard.
- Stephen (8/5): - Good value for a reasonable motel
- tony (6/5): - Good stay although would have prefer a room not next to others as kept me up especially the motor bike early morning when they turn it on.
- Rita (6/5): - Carpet was filthy, shower taps loose, bed rock hard and ants on table.
- Kate (8/5): - .
- Joanne (10/5): - We travelled here to stay 1 night with a 2 year old and a 3 month old. We got the twin room which has a single bed and a double.
Check in was easy and the staff were friendly.
Both our kids are in cots and there was enough room for a pram, portacot, a little space to play and room for our bags.
It’s close to town but the footpath ends just before the motel so I failed at trying to walk from town back to the motel.
Room was clean fresh. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable but we still got a good sleep.
All in all, was great for a 3-star motel and for a short stay with a young family. We would stay here again.
- Gary (8/5): - Lovely setting and reasonably priced in a great town.
- Janis (8/5): - Nice place. Beautiful views
- Eileen (2/5): Awful - Very old motel, very dirty & dusty, will not stay here again
- Brett (8/5): - Totally old school motel, nothing fancy but clean and functional and a pleasant stop on the journey.
- Susan (6/5): - The bed was comfortable and facility generally clean.
Coffee and Tea were provided but no milk and no one available to ask for it.
Shower door was dirty on the inside ( Only when in shower with door shut can you see the grime.)
- Natalie (6/5): - They say you get what you pay for. This was over priced. A motel can be old, have patched holes in door, half finished painting and not be dirty and have dropped food in hard to reach places.
- Tunai (6/5): - Air conditioner does not work..only a ceiling fan...
I did not know that.. may not have booked that room if I did!!
- Graham (8/5): - Needed accommodation
- Jim (4/5): - Very old, very cold with inadequate heating.
- Tina (4/5): - Wifi was poor. No ice machine. Small fridge freezer did not work. Power board broken. Mould in the shower and bathroom fan was not working.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very peaceful and quiet stay
- susan (8/5): - Good basic accomodation in a nice quiet spot.
I stay here for work regularly and it has all I need for a basic nights stay .
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Was surprised how unclean the place was, as in hasn't had a good clean for some time. Otherwise, comfortable enough.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place thanks for the stay will definitely stay again
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good basic motel. Little bit oldish already, but clean and very good service. Beds were comfortable and warm.
- Kristy (8/5): - Comfy bed clean room shower could of had more pressure apart from that very good for the price you pay
- susan (8/5): - Always good to stay here.
Good clean and basic motel .
Does the trick .
Comfy bed
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The manager made sure we had access to our room after hours
