• Peter (10/5): - Very friendly hosts. The beautiful variety of trees and plants on the property, the peaceful location and privacy of each self contained chalet. Spotless inside, an excellent place to go and recharge. Waking up to the sound of birds chirping outside in the trees. Nothing.

• Wolfgang Klaus-Dieter (10/5): A perfect spot to relax surrounded by nature. - Big Brook Retreat is a gorgeous quiet spot by the forest. The surrounds are beautiful, the cottage is immaculately maintained and has every amenity that we would wish for. We loved watching large numbers of little birds enjoying the bird bath. Information provided by caring hosts Libby and Darren is excellent. Across the road is a good gravel road through the forest to Big Brook Dam - a lovely place for a walk and picnic. It's only a short drive to Pemberton. We loved our 3 nights at Big Brook Retreat and highly recommend it.

The cottage was just perfect in every way. Obvious thought had gone into the set up so that all needs and wants were catered for. Top marks for cleanliness, our personal requirement for a holiday destination. Sadly, many other places do not seem to regard this as important. Highly recommmend!

Electric blankets, smart TV, well kitted out kitchen. Quiet and Relaxing grounds. Lots of small birds in the gardens. Close to the town centre but far enough away to feel the solitude. I will happily rebook on any future stay in Pemberton.

The interior decoration was thoughtful, comfortable and pleasing on the eyes. Great bed and well appointed kitchen. Liked the attention to detail; coffee pods, bottle of milk, plenty of shampoo, body wash etc. the fly screen door was quite tight and we made many trips in and out. Frequent spills of drinks and almost dropped crockery.

The information book gave lots of ideas of places to visit on our stay . The whole villa was tastefully decorated. Local fresh milk in the fridge, with a supply of tea and coffee. A ceiling fan in the bedroom would have been beneficial, as the weather was still quite warm.

The attention to detail was fantastic right down to providing the kitchen basics which we always forget. I would highly recommend this accommodation. We will definitely be back for a winter retreat. The only issue we found was that there was no air-conditioner or fan in the bedroom and the first night was quiet warm which made sleeping a little uncomfortable. The second night was cooler so much better.

Pemberton is very pleasant, but, in truth, we would have been quite happy just staying at the retreat and enjoying the idyllic surroundings. I wish it wasn’t 9,000 miles away from my house.

All areas were extremely clean and the country decor was delightful with many homely little touches like the chocolates on the bed upon arrival and generous coffee/tea facilities. Libby and her husband made us very welcome and had time for a chat which makes the guests feel at home. I would certainly recommend staying at Big Brook Retreat as our expectations were certainly exceeded. There was absolutely nothing to dislike about this lovely property.

The wisteria was in bloom outside our cottage and this combined with the blue wrens and other birdlife made for a tranquil setting. I only wish I'd booked for a longer stay!

• Jennifer (9/5): Absolutely beautiful and well equipped private and peaceful cottage for Two! - This was one of our favourite accommodations on our tour of WA’s South West Edge! For couples who enjoy peace, relaxation and beautiful surroundings, stay here! The cottage was well equipped, comfortable and nicely furnished. My favourite part was being able to open the French doors onto the patio and sit out and watch the myriad of birds visiting the garden from the surrounding forest. The view of Big Brook forest from the patio was beautiful. We were able to walk around most of the grounds and gardens of the owners property & experience the bird life and sounds. It was wonderful actually! There was nothing we didn’t like, it was pretty perfect for our requirements, including provided slippers and gowns. The only suggestion I would make is for a sun lounger or two to really be able to lay back and enjoy those beautiful surroundings.
