• Gavin (10/5): - This is our second time at Weelaway. Great place for a stopover to Carnarvon. Pet friendly spacious room. Short walk to the waterfront area, bars and restaurant. Highly recommended.
• Julie (10/5): - Spectacular property. My room was just as the photograph showed; actually better in real life. The shared facilities; the full sized kitchen, lounge, dining area were far better than I expected. Also, there is a large outside sitting area. Thought has gone into making this property stand out from the usual accommodation. Wi-Fi worked well, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom great. Only a couple of small comments. The desk (huge) could do with a lamp, and there should be a recycling bin in the kitchen (or did I just not see it?) Great, stand out accommodation.

• Verified traveler (10/5): - It's a lovely 150 year old house really centrally located. Big floorboards and interesting decor. Loved that we could use the kitchen and had a big lounge area to hang out in. Bedrooms were huge and the bed was comfy.
• Graham (10/5): Back Again - Weelaway is our go-to place to stay in Geraldton. Its clean, comfortable, and my wife can have her support dog with her. The only recent change has been the deletion of the continental breakfast, but everything else seems the same. We will be back again when we need to be.
• KAREN (6/5): Due for a revamp - A lovely old house that was probably stunning at some point in the past and with a lot of hard work could be again. Major turnoffs were dusty rooms unusable furniture, wallpaper friezes severely damaged and falling off walls, large artworks attempting to cover defects in toilet walls. Grounds were in a very poor state, could look so nice with some tlc. We viewed photos of the property in 2009 and it was stunning. Not sure why it’s in such a dilapidated state. Quiet street close to everything

Was led to believe that our bathroom was only a few steps away and for our exclusive use. Turned out it was down the hall, through the living area and at the back of the house when our room was at the front. Room was very cold, and could not operate air conditioner. Lighting very poor. Bathroom was ancient and not very pleasant. Would never recommend this establishment to anyone.

We would happily stay there again and recommend it to others. However it is worth noting this is more of a B&B than a hotel, and there is a shared bathroom. This wasn't really clear to us when we booked it.

• Elizabeth (6/5): Old style house, old style facilities - Weelaway is a lovely old style house and quite well placed for what there is to see in Geraldton - but kitchen and bathrooms in need of updating. The free breakfast was a bit of a letdown as there was no butter - so no toast for us!
• Verified traveler (4/5): - The location of the property is a handy walking distance from both the beach and the centre of town. It's easy to access and is great that you're able to have your dog stay there with you. However, we were told we could lock the dog in the bathroom if needed, but the bathroom only locks from the inside, and doesn't even latch. The property itself and our room was not comfortably clean, dusty and noise travels from the common areas.
• Verified traveler (4/5): - Check-in was easy - that was good. But the place was dirty, one bed had dirty spots on the sheets, the kitchen appliances were basically unusable. We tried to clean the frying pan 3 time, but didn't manage to get it clean. So no cooking. The kettle was so dirty/rusty on the inside that bits of something black was in the water. So we had to heat up the water in the microwave in order to make a cup of tea. Carpet nails were sticking out in the meals area where the carpet joined the tiles. Big - and without doubt very old - spidernets around the inside of the sliding door - including a big spider. Could say more, but above says it all.

Having no handbasin in ensuite was awkward since washing hands after going to loo meant walking out around and washing them in bedroom handbasin. Also a plug for the handbasin would have been nice and a powerpoint where kettle was since had to boil it where handbasin was

Sure there's a door or two in the kitchen that needs repair and trying to sneak quietly when you're heavy, on floorboards so as not to annoy anyone else, is frankly a waste of time :) .... It's a short walk to the center of town and in such a quiet location. Whilst I never met any of the people who ran it, communications by SMS/email were handled very well. Highly recommend.

The room was comfortable, and because this is a small accommodation facility, there are very few people around and it is quiet. An easy walk into the city, and off-street parking is a benefit. A pleasant place, the ambience of an older building with furniture to suit is enjoyable.
• Kai (10/5): A very unique stay - Very special with an unique atmosphere. All clean. But the amenities were a little bit complicated. Not ensuite okay, but even toilet a and washroom were separate. And nobody there. Checkin and checkout all working without any real person. So a very unique stay.

We arrived on a rainy afternoon and felt sorry to have to walk into the beautiful house with wet shoes. As everything was clearly explained beforehand, checking in was no problem. The nice touch was real coffee with a French press in the kitchen. Much appreciated.

• Graham (10/5): Excellent place full of character in Geraldton - Expedia describes this as Beachlands 6 km from Geraldton but actually it's only 1 km or 15 mins walk to Gero centre. Owner Jackie not usually on site but sent prior instructions on finding it & key access. Original booking was without en suite, got free upgrade to Xavier Herbert room which was charming & en suite. Lovely period building & furniture. Breakfast stuff provided in kitchen.

• Verified traveler (8/5): A Different Experience at a B&B at a excellent rat - Not your usual B&B however very comfortable, a must do for self, with a key box for access, self serve continental breakfast. Plenty of off street parking at property, which is apporx 1 km from CoB. Rooms with ensuite bathroom ravoured, are large and well equiped, with additional facilities of longe room, dinning room, kitchen and laundry.

After eventually getting in and finding our way to the front of the house, we discovered the room was fine but there was no bathroom attached. It was at the other end of the house. As we had just returned from overseas and were jetlagged we could not face this hassle. Obviously we had missed the fact that the room was not ensuite. We left the key in a box and had to book into another place for the night. Can't rate the staff as we did not meet anyone.

• Colin (2/5): This hotel ripped me off - This hotel ripped me off by asking me to cancel a room in order to stay in another room, promising that i would be refunded for the cancellation, i have not been refunded even after repeated requests, keeping in mind that the hotel asked me to cancel said night. So i paid for 2 rooms when only 1 was needed, terrible!!!!
• MS (10/5): Beautifully restored - A lovely place to spend a couple of nights. The house is beautifully restored with comfortable, clean bedrooms and spacious shared lounge area. We were upgraded to a bedroom with a king size bed, larger bathroom and a pleasant outside area to sit in. The upgrade did howevrr cause problems for auto check in as the key codes were no longer relevant and we did not receive a text to give us new info. The communal kitchen has everything needed for food prep and plentiful supplies of tea, coffee and breakfast items. Some of the storage drawers and cupboards could do with a deep clean.
• Joe (2/5): Worst stay ever. - Absolutly Terrible. Dark dingey room with furnishings from the 1920's, the house stank of old dog, other guest were up all night making noise. The aircon sounds like a steam train so can't be used unless you can sleep through a war. Uncomfortable bed with only one pillow each. Front door didn't seem to be locked which made us not feel safe, and to top it off when we woke up, our crisp bag was walking across the floor - didn't hang around to find out what it was. Couldn't wait to leave. The town is also empty and there's nothing to do. Avoid this place.

• grumpy (4/5): Neveragain - Should have paid an extra 30 dollars and stayed at the mantra this old house is very noisy just walking around we had the worst room in the house. Next to the driveway had to keep the window and curtains closed all the time as people walking up or down driveway cans see everything . If that was not bad enough the trees drop all there crap over my new 4x4 not to mention the fact the Possams had a great night partying on my new car and if that was not the worst thing I spent the next hour at the local car wash cleaning the bird droppings off

• Verified traveler (4/5): Not the best experience staying in the cottage - Not sure about its other hotel rooms, but our stay at Weelaway cottage is definitely NOT the most pleasant. The rooms looked OK from the pictures but the facility and the service was not that great. The cottage, which is apart from other main hotel rooms, has its own WIFI router and power line, but very unstable, made our one-night only stay there dreadful. The shower mixer is faulty and you can’t get water at suitable temperature from it – either too hot, or too cold.Worst shower experience I ever had after 6 hrs driving to Geraldton! Only 1 air con in the living room, no air con in the bedrooms.The most terrible thing is the power was cut off at 3am during the night and the air-con stopped working at a 40 degree night. (Other hotel rooms still have power, only the cottage has no power). We were all woken by the heat and couldnt get back to sleep. There is only 1 bedroom had the WIFI connection and it dropped off every 10 minutes. NO WIFI at all if you stay at other rooms in the cottage which is extremely inconvenient. Contacted the owner Jackie but was told there was no quick fix to it. Can only bear with it. So if you expect high speed and reliable WIFI, this is something you have to consider. Also, be aware, if you expect included breakfast, sorry, no breaky included in the cottage, although it stated "included" in your booking.Contacted Jackie and was told ONLY the main hotel rooms provided with breakfast, not the cottage. The microwave oven is there, but NOT WORKING
• Kylie (4/5): Thoroughly disappointed - Arrived at 8.30pm. I was well aware this was a non Contact B&B, but there were no lights on and had to use light on phone to find the room. The room was boiling hot air con didn't work small fan wasn't assembled big cobwebs in the bathroom of which the light didn't work so had to use the heat lamp for Light. As for toast and cereal etc. No milk in fridge.
• Lyn (8/5): Nice old historic home close to everything. - We really liked the old stone building, very homely. The cosey rooms are nicely decorated in a vintage style. There are good airconditioners in the bedrooms and the lounge. We didn't meet any staff, which was fine by us.
