Guest Reviews
- Sheila (6/5): - The room had what we needed, including washing machine and drier and everything worked. The location was relatively quiet, and there were some restaurants nearby. The photos of the pool and pool area on the site were a little misleading - the pool was very small. The driveway into the property goes over the pool, and is very steep up and down. If your car has low clearance you run a good chance of bottoming out on the way in (or out). While the information indicated that reception was open between 9 and 5 pm, I never saw anyone at the reception desk. To get into the room, you had to call the manager - which was fine for us, but would be problematic if you were an overseas visitor without a phone plan.
- Rodney (9/5): - Very clean and comfortable and good value would thete again Nothing
- KJSHugo (6/5): OK. - Location.
Check in process. Very noisy building.
- CJ (3/5): Old, a lot of things didn’t work, wasn’t worth the money but still cheap enough - Location was great for what we needed - 20 min walk to most places Very old and in need of a refresh…. The fan in the lounge didn’t work so it was stinking hot and the aircon in the lounge couldn’t be adjusted to accommodate, the photos show a fixed hot plate in the kitchen however it was a portable one on the bench top and one of the hot plates didn’t work, one of the cane chairs in the lounge was broken and my partner fell straight through it, and the echoing noises from other guests in the hallways was terrible.
- jovita (9/5): -
- McKenzie (8/5): Great apartments; unwelcoming and unkind staff. - Stunning. Comfortable and great facilities (washer dryer stove) The woman who let me in was extremely unkind and outwardly rude – as I misunderstood the policy (written in extreme fine print) that said I had to pay an extra $100 security bond? After I’d already paid the full fees.
Still unsure if that’s been returned to my account as it was promised it would be.
- martin (9/5): Everything you need - Good
- Alastair (8/5): - Nice well equipped apartment in good location for walking into town. Nice pubs etc near by. On site parking helpful. Didn't see any staff - arrived to a closed reception. Phoned contact no and door was unlocked remotely. Not an issue but would have been good to be pre-warned
- Maurice (8/5): -
- Habl (8/5): Good apartment with fruit bats close by to view - Good space to live in Internet access didn't allow use of firestick
- Hendrina (6/5): -
- Rogers (8/5): - Loved the pool It was old and needed some maintenance done
- Featherstone (9/5): It was a nice comfortable stay, location is nice away from the bustle of the CBD. - Easy to check in and check out. Not applicable
- Sherry Lyn (9/5): - For budget accommodation - the price was good.
I really liked the comfort - the bed was really comfortable & the sheets etc felt nice, crisp & clean.
The layout of the unit was good & it was nice & close to town, not far from the airport... Checking in was unusual for me but I don't get to go places very often, so that may be normal.
- Susanne (7/5): - Gut ausgestattete Wohnung , sauber , alles da was man braucht . Der Pool ist schlecht angelegt , haben ihn nicht genutzt .
- Penka (10/5): Short stay Cairns - I like the position, close to all highlights in Cairns, very central ,cheep Uber.
The room was extremely clean with everything you need for long or short stay.Place is very quiet, and despite no reception desk the check-in was easy . Not coffee machine with pods
- Richard (7/5): -
- Robert (4/5): -
- Dimitri (10/5): all was good and correct - free Parking
- RAVNEEL (8/5): -
- martin (8/5): Good accommodation - Good position No staff contact
- Brian (9/5): -
- Smith (10/5): - Many thanks!
I shall make recommendations for the Villas as it was probably the best value for money I mean what else can I say... I apologize for any mess. Again... many thanks
- zoey (5/5): Good apartment for amenities, but not for friendly service. - The property’s in a nice location, close enough to walk to the centre but in a quiet area. Amenities are good has most of what you’d want for a self serviced apartment. I’ve seen the owner write back to people in quite a harsh way so I’m assuming I’ll get the same. Check in was quite an ordeal, I tried to contact to advise we would be there late. My mistake that I missed reception closes at 12 but having booked this months before our stay, mistakes happen. We got through and were met with quite a stand off tone, considering all he had to do was unlock the doors I didn’t understand the rudeness. He also wasn’t aware we were checking in and confirmed he does not read his booking.com messages (seems to check the reviews so I don’t understand not checking messages) so even if I had messaged earlier to say we’d be late, it would not have made a difference. The floors could use a mop, my socks were black within minutes of walking around, we didn’t use the pool as there was a frying pan in it for whatever reason. Never saw a person at reception, which is fair considering it is a small property but as we don’t have Australian sims as tourists it’s not very feasible to expect people to be able to call if there is something wrong.
- Wayne (9/5): Trip was urgent for family reasons short notice expected to pay a lot more but was reasonable - Location No front office person
- Grey (5/5): Was an adequate stay however there are better options - Loved the aircon and comfy bedding. The kitchen was also super handy with lovely helpful staff. There was a water leak above our room thay cut our power and lighting for half our holiday. This means we couldn’t use the aircon or fans to cool down in the hot temperatures. Additionally, the bathroom was extremely cramped and small and water spilled everywhere.
- Baker (10/5): -
- Gladys (10/5): - It's closer for the Airport and shopping centres and businesses i love it and most of all i enjoyed staying there.
- Judith (10/5): - I loved the unit (4)!! Will definitely be looking for an extended stay next visit. 💕
- Bolger (9/5): - The staff were very helpful the place was very clean.and location was half way between the airport and the city. Nothing
- Lucas (8/5): - Had all the amenities to make an enjoyable stay. Enough space for placing your baggage in without having to dig through and live out of a backpack, freeing it up for other use was great. Washing machine and dryer in your own room with a full sized fridge and kitchenette. I had to take a walk around the block trying to find where to enter the place from. I found that you needed to give a guy a call on the phone to let you in eventually. But the tone of voice used wasn't especially friendly. Then once in, there isn't a receptionist at any time, so you really miss that face to face personal welcome for the place as soon as you check in. The fellow on the phone gave directions and was able to give remote access to your room. It missed that personal touch.
Also, even though the place was like that when you first get there and I got told where the button was to close the doors as you left, I got a rather vehement knock on my door on the last day, where the fellow who was looking after the place told me not to close the doors to the building throughout the day, and this was the first time in 5 years he'd had to tell someone to leave them open. So that soured the stay a little. Even though you try leave the place how you first found it, I'd rather not have to get spoken to in the manner the warning was delivered. So it was a very impersonal and not too fond interactions with members of "staff" for want of a better word at that place.
- Lester139 (8/5): - Close to shops and city centre. Staff could not locate my headphones which I left on bedside table, and got no response from staff if the cleaners had found them.other than that it was a good stay.
- Heather (8/5): - Convenience to cairns Tile in shower floor missing
Slats on door needed to be replaced
Filter in washing machine full of muck set like concrete Had to clean before use
No dishwashing liquid or scours to clean
Blanket supplied was badly stained
- Brett (10/5): - Clean and easy to the city. Staff were great. Shame on suburb, not clean
- David (8/5): Comfortable stay but a walk from Cairns CBD. - Villas had all the facilities required for a comfortable stay. Security was good. Property decor is dated not well maintained. Reception was rarely manned but they could be contacted by phone.
- Gabrielle (6/5): - Stayed about 20 days nosheets changed no clean towels no cleaning. We cleaned them ourselves for the stay I expect at least a change of sheets every 5 days and towels at least every second day.
- Roche08 (7/5): I will suggest if they can provide a place to leave the bags before check-in and after check-out. - Location easy to access any transpo, near restaurant and hospital.
Peaceful and quiet place I dont like is you have to call by phone if you need something.
Called up after check out before 10 am and the person I spoke to is sounded not happy when we ask if we can leave our bags.Because we have late flight back home.but then we decided not to leave our bags.
- Ibrahim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bhavana (8/5): - The room was very clean and well equipped with all the basic amenities. The security was also good.
As it was a self contained unit, nobody came to disturb me and that was perfect!
The only part which was a bit disappointing was the check in process as no clear instructions were provided.
I was dropped off to a wrong location by the uber driver. Luckily it was a 5 minute walk to the Villas. As I came to the Villas, I was a bit confused about the arrangement. So I called the number provided and the person on the other end was a bit rude. Anyways, it was okay in the end as I figured it out.....
- Laurence (8/5): Very good -
- Bernie (7/5): Royal Palm Villas - Cosy place. It was what one would expect from a good motel/villa. Hard to say.
- Chisholm (7/5): Good - Spacious living, kitchen and bedroom areas. Washing machine and dryer is a bonus.
Loved the large bed! Bathroom was not well maintained. Tiles were missing, toilet base appeared to be loose.
Air conditioner smelt musty, might need a service.
- Wigness (5/5): Passable -
- Ilse (9/5): Superb -
- Tracie (5/5): Passable - There wasn't anybody at the reception desk. Even arriving with in offices hours. Rang the bell, the lady came out and told us to ring this number she put a sign up and walked away. Was implied that the room came with a nice balcony or patio, as shown on the booking app. Called number, and they opened the door remotely to the room. The room was not clean. Appliances not cleaned. Lights didn't work. Had to ask another guest how to open and close security gate.. It's wasn't a great experience as we have been travelling up the coast, and this is the worst place we have stayed at.
- Allison (10/5): A neat and clean gated complex close to the city and sporting complexes. Has everything you need in it. - Close to city and basketball court
- Annai (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (9/5): Would stay there again - Apartment was great especially the balcony Driveway hump over the pool my car a Toyota scraped had to angle car in/ out to try and lessen it
- Geoffrey (8/5): Very good -
- Gregory (10/5): Appreciated the time out - It was pretty quiet room smelt clean aircon was not noisy fridge was not noisy was tidy and clean dinner table was comfy and the bed I had some soft and hard pillows. And I loved the double doors to the bedroom to
Block out the light. Also loved to open the windows for some fresh air. Secure parking however I parked on the street by choice secure facility. I had a bit of trouble with the wifi but I think it might have been my phone
- Melissa (8/5): Value for money, met all our needs, highly recommend. - Excellent value for money. This is perfect and the on-site gated parking was a plus! Cleanliness was acceptable, extremely secure to enter building and room, and we will definitely be staying here again in the future.
- Tyler (1/5): Do not recommend - Female Asian Manager - Rude, arrogant, unwelcoming, check in process is ridiculous as they watch you on CCTV as you arrive and to your room. Was yelled at over the phone. Take your money elsewhere. Only stayed because the room was pre paid for and refund policy.
- Brian (4/5): Could have been cleaner. Had broken door lock - Close to street and restaurants
- John (1/5): Bad -
- Mark (8/5): the stay and accommodation was good however a vehicle or some mode of transport is a must - Location
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - The apartment was good clean, manager was friendly, had a kettle problem and was sorted within ten minutes,
- Susan (7/5): It was ok older , no updates for awhile. - The bathroom off the bedroom if someone was sleeping you woke them up to use. Only a louvre door between lounge and bedroom that wasn’t easy to use
- Sandra (5/5): Passable - Could be more clean...
- Ismail (8/5): Very good -
- Tala (8/5): Good - It was close to where we needed to be. I've raised my concerns with the manager. No need to repeat them here.
- Sanjay (7/5): Good -
- Nancy (8/5): It was wondering what I seen and will be back - Located Nothing dislike 734-14
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robbie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ben (1/5): scam hotel. Don't book - nothing The fact that when you travel 8 times a month and a lot of late check Ins not all of us can be there early. no one there to check me in, no number to call, no security to speak to to find out how to access my room after hours. not all of us work 9-5. you shouldn't be allowed to sell a unit and take my money unless you have the right protocols to get me in. didn't get a room or a refund. watch out for this scam hotel
- Stephen (8/5): Royal Palm Villas - Size of the apartment and cooking facilities for breakfast, including outdoor seating. The apartment needs some updating, particularly the shower room and kitchen crockery / cutlery. Parking was difficult. The light and fan didn't work in the bedroom. There were no staff on site to report this to.
- Greg (6/5): - Staff seemed to be excellent , rooms functional , & okay , would recommend
- Bosevakaruakinasenete (10/5): Exceptional - The location was great, and the room was clean. Nil
- Purtle (9/5): Superb -
- Robbie (10/5): Exceptional -
- H (8/5): Great stay! -
- Gai (4/5): Disappointing - I booked a one bedroom apartment with washing machine and dryer and the night before we were due to arrive, I got a call from a gentleman stating someone wanted to extend their stay so he upgraded my husband and I to a 2 bedroom room at Cairns City Palms which they own as well. I asked if the upgraded room had a washing machine and dryer. Not in the room but in a common area. Obviously it slipped his mind that there was a fee to pay to use both. The upgraded room overlooked the pool and a Main road through Cairns. With sirens running all night and traffic noise starting early morning, I am not sure this would be classed as an upgrade. If it is, it is the worst upgrade I have ever been given
- Luke (9/5): Superb -
- Sandy (4/5): Very old needs a lot of work - The apartment smelt even using candles and spray didn’t help. When ever we came back home it smelt . The BBQ was rusty and unusable. Photos looked better than the property actually was.
- Lionel (8/5): Very good - Quiet Felt a bit closed in
- Sarjana (5/5): Passable - Kitchen facilities, security Very old, no amenities, poor flooring, no ventilation
- Elise (9/5): Superb - The apartment was very comfortable,
Was close to where we needed to be.
Had everything we needed for the few days we were there.
Will definitely keep it on our list for a return visit.
The price was very reasonable.
- Tony (7/5): Good -
- Ros (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joel (7/5): Good -
- Arthur (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeremy (5/5): Underwhelming for location - Great location We didn’t see any staff members, had to phone someone on checkin to let us in the room. So little introduction on accomodation or times gate would be closed. The accomodation is very basic
- gregoryv704 (4/5): Poor communication - Recently staid at the Royal Palm Villas for 2 weeks for work. How can you run an accommodation venue when there is almost noone around. I doubt that I would even have had my sheets changed if I hadn't asked. We didn't get any cleaning at all during the 2 weeks. I even had to ask for extra toilet paper. 1 1/2 rolls for 2 weeks was not enough. When I questioned this ( by phone as there was never anyone in the office when I had the opportunity to get to it) I was told that these were not serviced apartments and anything provided initially was as a starter pack. I guess most of their guests don't stay more than a few days. The unit was okay, although the maintenance could have been better and the internet dropped out for 6 or 7 of the days we were there. My feels they should drop of the word ROYAL as there was nothing Royal about this accommodation.
- Mikey (6/5): Pleasant -
- Judith (9/5): Superb -
- Graham (9/5): Superb - Location good, unit very good all round. had to contact manager by phone for access codes, main door, and gate keypads very hard to read in daylight. Access key provided next day.
- Marley (8/5): Very good -
- Marcus (6/5): Pleasant -
- Michelle (8/5): Very good -
- Nadi (7/5): Location - Good, Services - Not Much - location is nice. Easy access to restaurants, Cairns Central Shopping mall and to Esplanade (with a 20-30min walk). Have not seen anyone at the reception desk during our 4 days stay, except a person at our arrival time who helped to keep our luggage (as we arrived before the check-in time). He was not pleasant. No Services (new towels etc) offered and tea, coffee, toilet paper etc. were not enough for 4 days stay.
- Honza (8/5): Very good -
- Janet (6/5): all good but would be nice to see reception open at some time. - near the hospital stayed 8 days and no service offered. clean sheets and towels would have been nice
- Natasha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Louis (7/5): Good -
- Vickey (3/5): Poor - Booked through Booking.com for 2 nights. I should have booked 3 nights so I called Royal Palms and the man sniffed all the time. Said I needed extra night and I’d pay when I got there. Arrived at reception but sign said their either up stairs or out the back and call this number. I called and man started sniffing again. Booking.com had stated no stairs and only a walk in shower, but put on top floor. I said no as one of us cannot do stairs due to a medical condition. So he said he didn’t have that information from Booking.com and I shouldn’t book with a third party. Anyway given a room on ground floor. Had to pay for the extra night with card over phone. Then I had to stand in front of villa door and he opened remotely. Key was on kitchen bench. He said room wasn’t ready. We went away and came back an hour later. The room smelled, dead cockroach on the floor, the 4 coffee mugs were sooooo disgusting with lots of stains inside them, Rang man who got a women to bring new cups. She inspected the stained mugs. Then went to walk out with only 2 of them. I said aren’t you taking them all to clean and she said no just these two, the others are ok, no they weren’t! Anyway the shower had long black hair in it, the walls of shower hadn’t been cleaned in months, shower curtain had lots of mould at the bottom, tile missing on shower floor, toilet bowl inside had long black hair, the sink hadn’t been cleaned very well whatsoever, mould around sink outlet, the dryer lint catcher hadn’t been cleaned in a long time, mould on walls in bedroom, the lamp shade had mould all over it, outside bedroom window 2 clothes airers with bath towels, face washers, hand towels and sheets, one sheet on the ground, all stayed there for 3 days. The parking area needed cleaning of vegetation. Wet mop and bucket outside of our villa door for 3 days. Never seen a single person whatsoever in reception the whole time. The villa needs a deep clean to bring it up to a healthy and acceptable
- Haylee (2/5): Very poor - the o lay thing I liked was the location. the apartment was not clean. I was only given 1 towel for 2 days, no thick blanket for my bed just a sheet and a throw that was uncomfortable and old. the aircon was filthy, and could not keep both rooms cool. no aircon in the bedroom just one in the living room which is expected to keep the whole unit cool. massive crack in the cement in the roof that then goes down the wall. which I am almost certain is structurally unsafe. the fan is not even straight which indicates to me the ceiling is not level. there was dust everywhere in the apartment which kicked my hay fever in. now the owners of the building. I rang at 1:15 asking if my room was ready early as I arrived early. I was told no very rudely and then the phone was hung up on. when checking in no one was in reception. she was not happy when I said no she cannot use the card used to make the booking she then had to come to the apartment to check me in. absolutely no hospitality or customer service. I will not stay here again.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- trevorcU2386PX (4/5): Bad check in - Email s4aid 12noon check in.No one there .rang & was questioned as to what letter I had & told5 check in ls 2pml.Person on the line quite rude.Unitwas.nice but did not.like the look.of the pool and surrounds.
