- Je (10/5): Beautiful cabin, beautiful locale, great host! - Braeside is a hidden gem. Beautiful locale, comfy cabin and a generous host. We stayed in the Barn, located in Braeside's farm. It was right opposite the paddock so the kids could run over to see the alpacas, Sydney and Anzac or the chickens whenever they wanted. All the animals there seem very happy, healthy and well-treated. We were able to see wild kangaroos and our morning alarm clock was the sound of kookaburras. We had fresh bread, fresh eggs and pancakes for breakfast every day. We really could not ask for more.
Thank you Andrew for making our stay such a welcoming and comfortable one! Absolutely nothing. Everything was great!

- Michelle (10/5): Amazing rejuvenating stay with a lovely host - Our host Andrew was exceptional. He greeted us the minute we arrived, provided a range of delicious homemade breakfast provisions, including homemade quince jam and granola and was quick to replenish when we run low. He gave great suggestions on what to do and yet was never obstructive. The cottage itself is set on big sprawling grounds that attract a lot of birds. We had everything we needed for a lovely stay
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional - The location was great - tucked away in beautiful Mt Macedon, but close to wineries (Mount Towrong- great restaurant & wine tasting), Hanging Rock & shops for groceries. The breakfast provisions were of an excellent quality & plentiful. The living area was spacious with a wood fire to keep us warm. The bedroom was huge with a very comfortable bed. Andrew, our host made sure we were very well looked after. We look forward to stopping in here again.

Our 2yr old daughter absolutely in love with the place and her new friends she found in the estate - Chickens, Alpacas and Kangaroos! Meeting and feeding them was such a highlight of the trip for us. We took our parents along with us and stayed in gardeners cottage, the cottage was cozy which was good enough to accommodate 4 people and a toddler. Andrew provided generous breakfast options of fresh homemade bread, Organic Eggs and local produce and was very attentive in ensuring we had enough throughout our trip. He also went out of his way to drop and pick us from Forest glade gardens so that we could avoid walking a lot with our little one and parents(it was ANZAC weekend and autumn season). Thank you Andrew for making our stay so pleasant 😊 and your personalised gifts! we'll definitely be highly recommending Braeside to anyone thinking of visiting!

We had the fire going at night and it was just the right size to feel cozy with the whole family while still feeling spacious. The owners were great and very helpful with all of our needs and the kids loved feed sign the Alpacas in the mornings! We highly recommend!
- Ivo (10/5): Very nice and relaxing experience; close to many nice small towns - Breakfast was fabulous and in good quantity and quality; host was very helpful and friendly; Fireplace was a very nice feature; it was warm and cozy regardless outside temperature
- Sien (8/5): Relaxing stay - Quiet and cosy, it's a place to relax and chill. The host is very friendly and suggested places to visit. Good fireplace that keeps the rooms warm. Bacons and eggs for self cooked breakfast are great. Wifi is weak in the bedroom. Small bathroom. Suggest to put antislip mat for safety.
- Timothy (10/5): Exceptional - The host is amazing, the breakfast is freshly made and yummy, and the environment is beautiful!
- David (10/5): Fantastic weekend away in lovely cottage with generous host. A jewel. - Beautiful cottage. Lovely big bedroom with comfy bed. Bathroom well provisioned. Kitchen and sitting area very cosy and warm. Generous breakfast with eggs from hens on the property. We were even given a dozen as a leaving gift! Fresh bread on arrival. Andrew a most welcoming host and nothing too much trouble. His attention to detail is rare.

We stayed in Stuart’s Cabin for 2 nights, our host Andrew could not have been more welcoming.
We were greeted with soft jazz playing and a roaring fire.. warm, freshly baked bread and fridge full of yummy treats.
The cabin is beautifully decorated with a rustic charm and everything you could possibly need for a relaxing stay. The linen is fresh and crisp and the L’Occitane toiletries are 5 star. The breakfast hamper was tailored to our dietary needs and we felt truly spoilt.
Andrew recommended and booked fabulous locations for our dinners and offered advice on where to go and what to see in the area.
Each morning we awoke to kangaroos and alpacas feeding outside the cabin. The bird life is fantastic to see. Our only complaint was having to leave..
this property is highly recommended by us and we look forward to returning soon.

- Helen (10/5): Relaxing, beautiful, friendly country retreat - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Braeside. The accommodation was comfortable and beautifully set out in a lovely garden setting. Andrew was incredibly helpful with great tips for where to visit and good driving routes. The breakfast provisions were very generous and excellent quality - fresh eggs, bacon/smoked salmon, freshly baked bread etc. We liked being able to cook this ourselves each morning when we felt ready to eat breakfast. Great to have a wood fire as well as electric heater to keep us toasty warm. All in all a wonderful place to stay and have a relaxing country get away!
- Mark (10/5): Beautiful countryside cabin experience - Thoroughly enjoyed our 2-night stay, with wonderful hosts and cosy cabin which had everything you'd ever need for a countryside retreat. Beautiful surroundings with local wildlife, comfy bed and wood heater to enjoy in the evening. Highly recommend!
- Dave (10/5): Great private get-away - The Braeside Country Retreat is tucked away in a lovely area surrounded by trees, fields and lots of animals and birds. The accommodations and the breakfast goodies provided were top notch. Fresh baked bread, recently laid eggs , bacon - just wonderful.
The area is only a few minutes drive to many of the sights around Mt. Macedon, including gardens, wineries and the lovely trees in autumn colours. Also, Hanging Rock Reserve is only a short drive up the road.
We would love to come back in spring to see the flowers.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great accommodation and service, beautiful setting
- Melissa (10/5): Its time to recharge in Mt Macedon - We selected Braeside for our annual girls weekend and it did not disappoint. We were looking for a hideaway and yet we wanted to walk into the village for a good coffee (thanks Trading Post!). We were met by Andrew 'The Consummate Host. Certainly made us feel at home, ensuring we had all we needed for our stay whilst respecting our privacy. Couldn't ask for more. A paradise for awakening your creative side so bring your paint and books. But dont forget your hiking books as there are trails to suit all levels.
- Shona (10/5): Kangaroos in your garden - Amazing stay in beautiful Mountain surrounds with Kangaroos and every bird you care to think of as you sit in a lovely cottage amidst huge shady trees and traditional herbaceous borders. If you are an artist, don’t forget to pack your sketch pad. If you're visiting from overseas make sure you include a stay here on your itinerary. can’t wait to return. Oh yes - Andrew’s freshly baked bread is delicious.
- Tim (10/5): An outstanding B&B - with an exceptional host - This is a great place to unwind, recharge and spend time exploring the Macedon and surrounding regions. We had a wonderful four nights - Andrew was an exceptional host. Fresh bread and other provisions - the salmon and feta were very special - made the experience so memorable. The location is outstanding - nestled in gardens that must be magnificent when in bloom. The warmth of the hospitality on offer, and the comfort of the cottage, made it very difficult to leave. We will be back!
- Andrew (10/5): Wonderful garden setting - Our cottage was not only wonderful inside with comfy chairs and cosy fire, it had a spectacular setting in a beautiful garden alive with all the Autumn colour we went to Macedon to see.
There is so much else to do the area. Villages and towns to explore, eat and shop. And markets to do more of the same.
And then there are the wineries to visit, taste and buy magnificent Victorian cool climate wines
- Verified traveler (10/5): gorgeous cottage in mt macedon, - quick trip to mt macedon to run the hanging rock run, cottage was perfect and came with freshly baked bread and goodies for breakfast, definately recommend it
- greg (8/5): quiet serenity - Nice BnB . Quiet 5 mins either side of towns. Surrounded by wildlife which added to the whole experience. Good ammenities and good service by staff.
- suzette (10/5): Beautiful and peaceful - Jims cottage is absolutely gorgeous to stay in. Andrew is a wonderful host with plenty of tips for exploring the area around mount Macedon. Breakfast provisions are ample, the gardens are beautiful to walk around in.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely cabin surrounded by farmland - Andrew was an excellent host. We had all that was needed to make this stay special - wood for fire, fresh homegrown ingredients for breakfast, good information about the area and a lovely cabin to enjoy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed in Denise's cottage which is surrounded by gorgeous gardens with views to the field where the kangaroos and an echidna visited. The owner, who lives at Braeside, is a perfect host who goes out of his way to ensure that guests enjoy their stay. Denise's (two bedroom) cottage is beautiful and comfortable and we were sorry to leave after two nights. It is an ideal base for visiting the gardens of Mount Macedon when they are open.
- Mark (10/5): Worth it for the view, staff, and the experience - Stayed in Stuart's Cabin, and was greeted by Andrew as soon as we pulled up. He offered to carry our bags, and when we got to the cabin, walked us through everything. It was the best personal touch you could ever imagine. He ran through all the items that other places would print out into a book, and made sure we felt comfortable from the get go. The fridge was stocked with yogurt, fresh jam, bacon, fresh eggs, juice, milk, and pretty much anything you could need. There was also freshly baked bread that simply melts.
We had strong winds on our first night, and the power went out for about an hour. It was really nice to get a text from Andrew notifying us, and apologising. I really admire the ability to text the host, and being responded to as a person than a guest. Andrew's heart and soul is all throughout the B&B, and you can see it.
It is also really great to be able to read all the other guest's messages in the guest book in the room. Some of the messages simply show Andrew's dedication to making your stay the best it can be.
- Jannelle (10/5): Great relaxing getaway - My husband and I were looking for a mini getaway from the busyness of work. Jim's cottage was just perfect. It had everything we needed .. Cosy fireplace, beautiful breakfast and lovely surroundings. Andrew was an excellent host!! Highly recommended to any one looking for a place to wind down and relax!
- Alice (10/5): Perfect in every way - Host and accommodation were both completely beyond expectation. The breakfast was incredible, the view, the little touches were all amazing. i cannot recommend this highly enough.
