The bathroom sliding door was faulty and extremely difficult to open and close. At one point, it even came off the track and nearly hit someone, which is a serious safety hazard. The toilet was also very difficult to flush, and it often wouldn’t flush properly, which was extremely inconvenient and unhygienic. The shower head would not shut off properly and kept dripping constantly, which was both annoying and wasteful. On top of that, the overall cleanliness was unacceptable — the room did not feel clean at all. This place clearly needs better maintenance and attention to basic hygiene and safety. - Penelope (7/5): Friendly and convenient. - Great location and lovely staff. We thought a two bed apartment would have separate bedrooms to living area but was ok as we’re all good friends. The toilet door didn’t shut properly in one so they had to use backpackers toilet if people were in the lounge/kitchen/bedroom. Also other guests charged electric cars and the fuses kept tripping. I wonder if an electric car charger could be useful sometime? Overall it was a great stay though.

Ohhh and they should do something about slugs, the floors were shining with their trails in the morning... Also have never before been asked in a Motel to wash the dishes before we leave or we will be charged extra for dishes left in the sink..

Check in was not easy - had to email as suggested if I could not make a call, but after waiting 30 minutes for a reply, asked another guest if I could call from their phone. The bathroom facilities were not clean and very limited. I had to queue for the one male toilet. The showers smelled of urine. The bedroom itself, whilst functional, smelled of wet dogs and this was quite strong. While I was there, the guest in the room next to me complained about her room and left.

We had problem getting into the property as we need to call the person in charge for the code to obtain our key . This code should be sent to us through booking.com and not asking us to call the property .
- Chrissy and David (8/5): An older, more spacious and comfortable motel that shouldn’t be overlooked because it’s not as “fancy” as some…….you won - This is a former working men’s accommodation, so the rooms are far bigger than usual. We loved the old school quirky layout and personal touches. The kitchen was spacious and well provisioned with useful items for both a short or long stay. Management and staff were simplet wonderful, country hospitality at its best! Thank you to Henry for assisting us with a more accessible room and allowing early check in to unpack. The accessible handrail beside the toilet in our room was somewhat awkwardly placed at hip level leaving not much space to move. Much improved by moving it higher.

- Brenda (3/5): Very disappointed the photos actually look better than what it was. - Its location The TV didn’t work. There was intermittent. Internet. There is white paint that has been spilt in a lot of places slapped over everything. The carpet was ripped and shaggy in the corners. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. We had intended to stay at Strahan but there was no accommodation there at all. So our next option was in Queenstown. We were prepared to spend a reasonable amount of money so that wasn’t an issue but unfortunately this was the only accommodation that we could get. I feel a simple good clean and getting some of the paint cleaned up. That was splattered. Everywhere would be a help. And a working television and fresh towels on the second night of our stay as well as having a bed made.

Rooms are FREEZING even with the heater on, beds are like slabs of concrete and the walls are paper thin.

Dinner at the empire hotel. Best steak and reasonably priced. Booked the rainforest wilderness steam train which was pleasant scenery Motel was very old and rattley with shared shower and toilet outside a little over priced, but you get what you pay for as it was a back packers retreat being in a country town. Okay for the night just passing through. Good for young tourists who are fit and adventurous

This is budget accommodation, but was very adequate for our family of five. The apartment we were in could have accommodated 8 people! The pillows were very flat. - Sharon (7/5): Good location for the price - Our room was basic but clean and comfortable. The staff were responsive and helpful. Had a heat pump that cooled the room well during very hot weather. The buildings and furnishings are a little tired and dated.
