Guest Reviews
- Bruce (10/5): - Isolated. Relaxing
- Helen (2/5): - The only plus was that the linen was clean and the bed comfortable.
We arrived at 6pm in the rain. We knew the unit numbers because the receptionist had rung to tell us. There were no sign to the units so we had to walk to find them. There was no parking and the ground was rocky and dangerous. There was no internet! The units were functional at best.
- Michael (2/5): - There was no one here to check us in. We just got a text to tell us which room we were in and the key was in the door. This meant that there was no bar open and no restaurant. There were others booked in. There were a total of 5 adults and 6 children including a 4 week old baby. Not good considering how far it is to get food. Maybe this should be highlighted in their website that there are no meals weekdays.
- Stacey (6/5): - Quiet place with lovely country atmosphere, but was disappointed with options for dinner and breakfast.
- Evelyn (6/5): - No chef available so had to drive to Warwick for dinner & breakfast. Very old facilities, though clean. No information about what was available.
- Donald G (4/5): - Old, tired, poorly equipped unit .Needs a complete refurb. No cutlery or crockery etc, one chair, no table No food available Friday night.
Very disappointing
At least it was clean
Don Bray
- Janet (6/5): - The overall property was tired - needed fresh flowers etc in dink g area - couches old & tired & everything quite dusty!!!
Suggest close off unused areas totally & concentrate on making the main dining/bar area fresh & alive!!!
Rooms are clean - but again furnishings needed refresh!!!
- John (6/5): - Tv didn’t work
- Joe (4/5): - The rooms are very run down
- Michelle (6/5): - Lovely location and view.
Accommodation needs extensive renovations.
- Rosemary (8/5): - A little in need of love but absolutely loved the feel of the place. Calm and beautiful surrounds.
- Norm (10/5): WE'LL BE BACK - Very friendly and helpful staff. FANTASTIC VIEWS. We'll be back
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff were amazing and the views were spectacular. Lovely place to stay
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The place was closed and the gate locked. I have emailed you for a refund. The accommodation has gone out of business but still took my booking and money. We had to drive an hour to find other accommodation.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Views are fantastic. Room sliding door rattling in the night was annoying and toilet knocked while refilling cistern.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Staff and food ( when it was available was good). Pool and spa unusable ( don't believe the pictures it was green and murky). No drinking water as muddy water came out of taps. Arrived in dark to key and 240 room number on key - no map - room was actually 040. Holes in walls. No one serving at bar during meal. No hot water for showers. One chair in room. One TV station working - until other guests arrived second night then more worked. Place in need of urgent repair. Room housekeeping never came all weekend depsite leaving sign on door as instructed. No blind on window - no privacy.I will be contacting consumer affairs to gain a refund.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - A little over priced for the quality of the room and amenties. Staff were eager to please. Sadly it is starting to look its age.
- Debbie (8/5): A beautiful part of Aussie Countryside! - Our stay at Cherrabah Resort was a quick over-nightery so unfortunately we didn't get to use a lot of the facilities. We were made to feel very welcome from the 'welcoming' phone call on the day of our stay to our check in late in the evening. The unit was scrupulously clean, warm, tidy with everything you would need for a short stay. For an older-style cabin type accommodation it had a modernised feel to it. The drive out to Cherrabah was interesting as we took a gravel road (there was a tarmac road which we left via!) and we got to see every Australian animal imaginable - even an Echidna crossing the road. So the drive was slow to avoid the animals. For a camp style holiday I would recommend Cherrabah.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This resort is tired and run down.
It needs a lot of money spent on maintenance and improvements.
Owners obviously do not understand the wants and needs of the modern tourist who demands value for their holiday dollar.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Equipment in poor shape eg kettle in room leaked no tv remote in room. Staff were friendly food good bed comfortable and nice hot showers. Place could do with some love and attention.
- James (8/5): - Position GREAT. More maintenance required on cabins, some lacking furniture.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The pool was lovely, the view was brilliant , the room was comfortable , the evening meal was delicous.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This is a beautiful property which need a face lift as sections such as the tennis courts and putt putt are very uninviting. A microwave in the roomsand small shop for essentials would be good for visitors as it is a 17km drive into Warwick. Staff are lovely.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Please define the word Resort as I don’t think this place makes it. Cherrabah needs an urgent upgrade & a lot of renovations to survive in a competitive market. We went to diner at 7pm only to find that the only choice on Saturday night was an over cooked almost cold roast beef buffet & at 7 pm we had no meat left very little vegetables & the pigs at the trough (other guests) had almost finished the desert table. Some warm (not hot) meat was found for us in the kitchen & a meal was had. The pool was empty & under maintenance. The room is cold & sparsely furnished & the bathroom has plumbing issues the air con is turned on at the power point then reach above your head to adjust the tv has no remote, turn it on at the tv then change channel with the set top box (remember them) the picture breaks up a little. The bed is a double not a queen the lamp in the corner near the bed has a dodgy foot operated switch on the floor there are no bed/reading lamp so everything A/c TV & lights need to be turned off before getting into bed. We went horse riding on horses that escaped the glue factory & the 1hr ride took 35 mins. The staff were ok but not outstanding. The location & view are amazing just needs some upgrades & effort from the staff. Some new managers & enthusiasm would go a long way
- Jennifer (8/5): Last minute accommodation for Jumpers and jazz - Fine for what it is. Forget about tv reception, there wasn't any and sadly in need of a teaspoon to stir your coffee. Aside from that for just a place to get a nights rest whilst attending the Jumpers and Jazz Festival at Warwick Qld it was fine. Clean with good hot water (albeit that it took ages to run through), comfortable bed and warm with the reverse cycle air conditioner! Be prepared for a bit of a drive in the middle of nowhere to get there and don't hit Skippy on the way. Nevertheless if you are a bit adventerous its fine!
- Margaret (10/5): -
The television did not work and no effort was made to rectify this. Wi fi was not available. However the overall service and atmosphere were fantastic. Seeing lots of kangaroos in their habitat was a fantastic experience. The meals, served by the magnificent open fire, were very good and the overall ambiance was great and the staff were very friendly. There were lots of activities available but we did not use them.
- Monica (8/5): - It was a short stay. Only one night. But enjoyable and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Country Hotel - The property is in beautiful surroundings, staff is nice and the Rooms been recently been renovated.
The drive to the property from Warwick is a lot easier as coming from Stanthorpe you have to use dirt track for quite a while.
Dinner was on the basic side (out of lamb 15 minutes after opening the buffet).
- Louise (6/5): Quiet country - Lovely view. Reception, dining area has nice fire place. Quiet.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Fantastic view - Great view. Only stayed the one night for a bed. Very tidy. Would have loved to stay longer and checked out the tracks around the property. Looking at the facilities it would be a great place to stay with horses.
- Big (2/5): Stay away - My first night the weather was below 0 and the room heating was not operational. when I took the problem to staff the next morning they thought it was funny that I was so cold I had to sleep in my sleeping bag under the blankets.
The second night, the clock radio cord shorted out with sparks and smoke, this incident tripped the power breakers for the room. Again, when the issue was taken to the staff they found it funny. I was not impressed, vocalised my dissappointment and explained that I will not be coming back.
- Tom (4/5): Very old and tired guesthouse. - Buffet Sat. night was not very appealing. Roast pork, chicken and some vegetables steaming over inadequate bain maries. Desert was acceptable. For the price, it was passable. Breakfast was very poor. Cold fried eggs when we got to it.Bacon, but no sausages. Spagetti, but no beans. Only 1 x 4 slice toaster. Coffee was poor. The experience was not great. The room was clean and tidy. TV reception was intermittent. No WIFI. An example of how old it was, it only had a single flush toilet. Hot water in shower was warm, not hot.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - A bit out of town so a nice place to relax.
I used it for car racing at Morgan Park so it was a little far out.
- Jed (6/5): A resort far past its prime. - A resort far past its prime. Thought the staff were very helpful you would expect more from the facilities when so far off the main road. This would have been a wonderful place back in the 1980's. Today 2018, with many coats of over lapping paint and a run down feel of the place there is nothing that comes to mind why I would want to go back.
- Jan (6/5): Loved the serenity and the wildlife!! - We started with frogs in the toilet! Then a huge iguana on the road and several kangaroos.
We saw kangaroos each time we went out or came back.
The food was excellent too.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Week end - Great place to stay,in the middle of nowhere.
Rooms were comfortable and clean and food was good and reasonably priced
Good value for money
- Leisa (8/5): Beautiful place to visit - Excellent views, great food, friendly staff. Next time i plan to stay longer.
- Margaret (8/5): Great relaxing getaway - This resort obviously needs some TLC. If you are expecting luxury you will not get it. However, you will get a country get away with friendly staff, lots to do and good, reasonably priced home cooked meals. The town of Warwick is half an hours drive away and there are a lot of activities available on site, some at an extra cost and some free. At the end of the day, we could have easily spent more time there without being bored or spending money. We were after a relaxing break and that's what we got. The staff treat you as part of the family which makes it easy to go back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cabin in a beautiful rural setting - In a typical Australian countryside you find a very clean and comfortable cabin. Very comfortable bed including pillow that you rarely find made our stay relaxing. They are in the process of renovating all the cabins and are doing a great job.
The main Hotel facility was nice and clean and the food was not only good but reasonably priced. Since there were not many guests that night we were spoilt by the chef. She made sure we were looked after not only food wise but with lovely chats.
The view from the Hotel overlooks the pool and cabins and in the distance you can see beautiful mountains. Enjoy a drink while the sun sets.
You can go horse riding and if you take a wander down to the stables you will find ponies, goats and lamas.
- Andy (8/5): A short stay but a nice stay - If you are looking for 5 stars quality for $120 a night, you can look else where.
But if you are a reasonable person (or in our case, family) looking for a good value stay out at the country, and expecting a country style experience, this is for you, and a little more.
The staffs are extremely friendly. The restaurant has a very pretty view. There are small infrastructures built for the children has some good ol country fun. (I got a iPad orientated kid, and he had a ball!) All these surround by beautiful scenic.
I had read some review about security lighting is weak in the middle of night and not safe for walking.... quite frankly if you are walking out in the middle of night, you probably don't want to be seen anyway.
We will come back again, and next time we will stay longer.
- Traveler (4/5): - Doesn't meet what is advertised. Upon arrival I wasn't advised of activities available for Cherrabah or what was available in the local region. There isn't a set menu so it is frustrating trying to order when one does not know what is available. Floor tiles were greasy in the entry and bathroom. Mozzies were in the room at night though doors nor windows were left open. TV didn't work nor did the outside lights and had to be sorted out. Owners personal visitors left an almighty mess of food in the outside eating area making it very unpleasant to eat at in the outdoor area. No wifi or phone reception which, after looking back at the booking didn't mention was available - my oversight but something which is not stated and may not be picked up on by others.
Unless you are part of a large group or there are other visitors, activities are not run.
Safety seems to be not taken seriously as I witnessed personnel working on roof tops clearing gutters and lopping trees without fall restraints.
Staff were nice, but the facility needs proper maintenance.
- Meredith (6/5): - I found that there was nobody around when you needed to ask questions. The toilet in our room constantly leaked and I needed to turn the water off to get some sleep. Cigarette buckets on verandah were full of buts and not a very pretty signt. Outside furniture fell apart and could be dangerous. Step down to another set of units is to high and the lighting was not working, this was very dangerous.
Staff very pleasant and the overall activities were good. Just lacked those small details that make a stay a really food one.
- RJ (6/5): Beautiful country location - Meals were great. Although you can't drink the bore water they freely gave out lots of bottled water.
- GCBoi (8/5): Beautiful country property! - Bed was a little too firm for me but the cabins were clean and it's a huge country property with plenty to explore.
They don't have a directory of activities available so ask at reception to tell you about things like horse riding and ATV tours.
- susieqoz (8/5): - Held baby goats, did a bush drive and a bush walk. Watched clay pigeon shooting. Relaxed by the open fire. Ate great food.
- Sandra & Rob (8/5): Beautiful countryside right outside your door - We only stayed one night, but within the first hour we said to ourselves "We'll be back"
The staff were very accommodating, and happy to help - you could tell in their faces and demeanour, nothing was too much trouble.
The rooms were more than adequate, they would benefit from a little updating, however very satisfactory as is.
The evening meal was a perfectly cooked roast with veg, and loads of taste, we ate our fill, and then, out came desert ... delicious.
The remainder of the evening was spent around the amazing three-sided fire (awesome), and staring into the flames, we will most certainly be going back, and whole-heartedly recommend.
Next time we will make sure we have time for some of the activities offered.
- Karen (2/5): No way near a resort style accommodation - Check in was just ok, dinner booking a complete shambles which was kindly sorted out by kitchen staff who were wonderful. Kitchen staff also organised our meal free and a drink due to the stuff up. They also attended to house keeping by gathering up extra blankets. Offered to cook us breakfast as were leaving early which we declined.
Room very dated, NO hot water for shower after travelling was DISCUSTING for a so called RESORT !!! They don't have an after hours contact number that you can contact if you have an issue as we did with hot water.
- Jo (10/5): - Facilities: Home away from home; Service: Go the extra mile;
Beautiful homestead with very friendly staff. Horse riding available for all. Victoria falls is a great day trip away with feeding of parrots.
- Andrew (8/5): - Facilities: Basic; Value: Economical; Service: Sufficient; Cleanliness: Nice;
- Brian (6/5): - Facilities: Tired; Value: Reasonable; Service: Polite; Cleanliness: Tidy;
Food was very average, probably because understaffed.
