Guest Reviews
- john (10/5): - near to shops
- Nicole (5/5): This property has so much potential to be great but lack of attention to detail. Needs money put into it to update etc a - Kids loved the heated pool.
Location!
Good size room.
Kangaroos! Black mould on bathroom ceiling and toilet.
Holes in wall.
Bed ok but could be better if replaced.
Door lock not easy to open.
Noisy pipes not helpful when trying to sleep.
Someone else undies in drawer.
Bbq’s not working hasn’t for a while.
Rubbish in garden beds.
- Julie Cosway (6/5): Rooms and grounds need a freshen up. But co. - Perfect location, good size family room. Good hot shower.
- Harvey (10/5): -
- robert (8/5): -
- Jo (6/5): Love Halls Gap. - Location was brilliant...there was a pool, wildlife everywhere, closest accomodation to the heart of Halls Gap, main street, cafes, walks to the venus baths etc. The units were tired, needed some tlc....clean enough, great floorplans and spacious...but the strength of the place is definitely its location.
- Sylvia (9/5): -
- Rachel (8/5): - Location was suberb The pool was dirty and cold. Not much outdoor seating and the picnic furniture is very old and needs to be refreshed or replaced. It's a shame because being surrounded by such beauty, you don't want to be hiding in your room.
- Deborah (2/5): Location great the rest was pretty average at best. - The location was good. Firstly, we booked to include breakfast and when we checked in we were told that this was no longer part of our booking as there are new owners since we booked. That would have been more acceptable if they had of notified all people who book breakfast in the price at the time of ownership change. We could have looked at our options. Or even could have offered us some sort of discount or a free coffee in one of the cafes on them. The guy on reception wasn’t that bothered about the change to our booking and just brushed it off.
Ok the decor can be overlooked, but the towels had seen better days, they should have been replaced when they stated to look a bit worn. The hot water was like warm at best.
I guess you get what you pay for.
- Harry (6/5): great price and location - Price, Location No one in reception, Left behind Jeans in draw, cobwebs on walls, filthy micro wave, fridge and cutlery draw. Spill stains on wall. And crockery does not belong in the cupboard under the sink with the cleaning products. The taps badly need servicing. some of the things I could clean I did but suspect other rooms would be of similar standard.
- Dennis (4/5): our room was not as clean as we expected and the lack of hot water in the shower was disappointing - convenience to the local shops and our friends who were also staying here that the shower water was tepid at the best, the air con worked when it wanted
- maccaDavid (8/5): -
- Lai Fong (9/5): Comfortable - Near shops, easy access to bush No one at reception, not very welcoming
- Brian Bleckly (6/5): The location is excellent and spacious rooms but it seems to matter which one you get. - The location is central and excellent. The rooms are very spacious. The wall mount aircondition would not work for long and heat the room only blow cold air. A small fan heater was supplied instead. The shower was not hot, not even warm and barely just better than cold. There was no bracket so you had to always have one hand on it. I stayed in a different room last year and didn't have these problems.
- Dennis (6/5): great location facilities ok - Location cleanliness could be better
- knights (5/5): Great location shit ammenities - Location No hot water , heater didn’t work.
Toilet was loose on floor
- Sally (7/5): Location is why you stay here. - Location. Staff not always available in office not even during business hours. Had to ask for things that should’ve been in room already if they were checked properly eg wine glass and dishwashing liquid and hand soap.
- Raymond (8/5): - Location Nothing
- Jason (10/5): -
- Melissa (3/5): Great stay in Hall Gap but this accommodation needs a revamp and more attentive staff! - Location is perfect It’s looking very tired and needs some serious upkeep. Our cutlery and inside cupboards were dirty.
- Naomi (10/5): Perfect retreat - This exceeded my expectations, the location is brilliant and quiet, the unit was absolutely lovely and extremely clean, beds were comfortable, it was well equipped with everything including portable cot and high chair.
So much space as well, full functioning kitchen, BBQ and deck.
Will definitely be returning again and again... There was nothing not to like, except it was too warm to light the wood heater, maybe next time..
- Daniele (4/5): the location is great, the room was basic but clean, the bed was fine, but maintenance is poor - whilst the room was clean and the bed comfy several malfunctions became evident during our stay A power point came off the wall - it wasn't fixed in. This is dangerous. a curtain rail fell apart when opening the curtains which hit my partner, causing a cut on the forehead - painful and dangerous. A heater provided cut out after 30 seconds and would only work if I wiggled the wire - dangerous. no one was around to report this to and I ended up leaving a note in the unattended office on our departure.
- Iain (6/5): Great location. Needs a birthday - Great location. Rooms are run down.
Guest laundry not available (repairs in progress, but not really).
- Anne (5/5): Could be better - Location was good and beds were comfy. Kangaroos around the grounds was nice. The poll looked nice but 8am -8pm meant we didn't get a chance to use it. You have to leave the key in the holder to keep the power on. The water for the shower was lukewarm and the shower itself was one of those modular units and was slippery. Décor was very outdated and TV didn't have apps so you could log into other providers. Signs in the room are annoying - charged extra if you leave dishes unwashed for example! Room was not serviced even though we stayed 2 nights so ran out of coffee and towels.
- Trisha (8/5): Relaxing and chilled - Cheap and affordable
Pool was ready to use
Great location Bbq and laundry room were not working
- Belinda (1/5): Terrible - Location Worst place I’ve stayed at. Dirty. Smelt. Beds terrible. Bathroom could not be used. Would never shower there. Taps wouldn’t stop dripping. Pool had mould in it. Untidy grounds.
- Alicia (3/5): -
- Daniel (4/5): - Location is great. Close to restaurants and cafe's The hot water in the shower is warm at best. The kitchen sink also produced the same temperature of water which wasn't ideal for doing dishes
- John (8/5): It was exactly as advertised - Right in the centre of town Clean and comfortable.
- Danijel (7/5): - near town ceter
- Suganthi (8/5): for the cost it is very good , really liked and enjoyed the stay. -
- Belinda (10/5): -
- philip (8/5): - Very good location near shops, cafes etc. Close to walks, views of mountains.
- Trent (7/5): -
- Eddie (3/5): Whilst location was great, overall stay was quite disappointing - The location was ideal
Quiet setting, within walking distance of retail and food outlets Initial room was not ready at check in time.
Upon entering the room, there was a strong chemical smell which we discovered was to hide the stench of faeces in the carpet of the back bedroom.
We were then relocated to another room where the bed pillows were still on the couch without pillow cases, mould on bathroom window, no tea towel, and bathroom towels were of op-shop quality.
Beds were extremely stiff/uncomfortable and the mattress would slide off the base during the night.
Freezer compartment in refrigerator was one huge block of ice, but still not able to freeze an esky ice brick in two days.
An all male staff constantly wondering around “porched” area of rooms gave a sense of extreme discomfort and unease as well as a distinct lack of privacy while guests attempted to enjoy a relaxing afternoon.
The heated pool only appeared to be heated on Friday afternoon when most guests were arriving as by Saturday afternoon, the pool seemed a lot cooler.
- Lisa (10/5): Lovely stay, location of property can’t be faulted. - Rooms are big and spacious for a family. Location is excellent. N/A
- Holly (3/5): Great location & facilities would even be ok if cleaned and looked after - The location Staff
Cleanliness of rooms
Pool filter not being run for hours at a time so even the pool gets dirty and was cold
Toilet at pool is disgusting, door doesn't even fully close
In the rooms, frosted glass in bathrooms is see through at night
Only half a roll of toilet paper given until we asked for more
Room has multiple signs asking you to do your own dishes which is OK but then our room had a dirty tea towel and our friends room didn't even have a tea towel.
Our friends were originally brought to a room with an ominous stain and smells of chemicals and faeces. They had to explain to staff they couldn't stay there and ask for another room.
- Anna (3/5): Very disappointing, rundown accommodation that was not as advertised. - Location was excellent, as were the beds. There were very comfortable. It was very rundown in general. It was advertised that it had a full size fridge, however it was a mini fridge and I couldn’t fit in all the food that I brought with me. It was advertised that it had an outdoor BBQ but it was out of order, incredibly old and rusty and hadn’t been used in a very long time. It was advertised that it had a laundry but that was also out of order. There were the bare basics in the kitchenette - four cups, glasses, bowls and plates and cutlery. In the second drawer where you would expect some things to help cook with, there was a flipper. Not a single knife sharper than a bread knife. The electric frypan was broken and barely worked, seemed very unsafe to use. No tea towels to dry dishes. I went to reception four times to ask for a tea towel and there was never anyone there and no one answered the phone number left to call if they were absent. Zero customer service and very poor facilities. The pool did not look maintained and we were too worried to swim in it in case it was unsafe, a fair assumption considering the maintenance of everything else here. Location is excellent.
- Hughes (2/5): Won't stay again, the place has dropped in standards dramatically. - Location was why we chose this property. Shower pressure was terrible, toilet was Not anchored to the floor. Air conditioning was not working on heat mode, kitchen sponge and cloth were already used and dirty, only enough dishwashing liquid for 1 clean. Laundry facilities were out of order! The on-site Managers very 'relaxed' with responses. A very disappointing stay in such a beautiful town :-(
- JOSEPH (8/5): -
- Jo (7/5): Great location with reasonably clean room. Says daily cleaning but this never happened - Great location and spacious room Bbq not working and other one dirty
A few insects stuck in cobwebs not cleaned
- Natasha (2/5): The grounds had rubbish piled up every where. - The location It wasnt clean. The rooms were dirty. There was rubbish piled up everywhere around the grounds. The pool was usable. The water dirty and rubbish around the pool.
- Phil (6/5): We love this property and have stayed here many times. It simply needs upgrades & personal touches. - The location is excellent to walk to most facilities in Halls Gap. The property has unlimited possibilities .... the grounds have been neglected for some years now and simply need water & maintenance to enhance the resort style atmosphere, where wildlife is abundant but facilities to enjoy the outdoors are in disrepair and not maintained. Staff / property owners were nowhere to be found, nor any interaction to patrons. Personal attention is absent.
- Marg (7/5): Quiet and peaceful accommodation - Accomodation is close to the shops.
Staff were friendly and polite.
Pleasantly surprised how much the surroundings and gardens have improved and the pool is reopened along with a bbq now available.
- Damian (10/5): Great location - Literally backs onto all the shops in town very close and convenient
- Bianca (9/5): -
- Matthew (8/5): -
- Damien (3/5): -
- Meliha (5/5): -
- John (1/5): Not good enough - Location Poor quality, smell damp, unpleasant
- James (6/5): - Location Rooms are a bit dated and need some maintenance
- alex (2/5): -
- Thomas (8/5): Very good - None It was good
- KimBriggs (7/5): - Conveniently located to shops and easy to get too.
Good value for money. Could use a little modernisation.
Photos are a true representation. A little outdated but still very comfortable.
- Alison (6/5): Comfortable enough for the price, great location - Fabulous location, plenty of room, good basic amenities in kitchen. Bed wasn’t comfiest, could hear everything from unit next door, no lamps in living areas, had to ask to have room serviced after 6 days as bins were overflowing and toilet paper was running out ( no spare roll)
- Adam (7/5): Comfortable but dated accommodation - Good location and good value A bit dated
- Carolyn (9/5): -
- Rueben (10/5): - The location is the best in town and the price is good.
- Frances (5/5): Not good. - Na Rubbish on floor, no light tubes in bedroom. Filthy toilet front. Toaster did not work.
- Amanda (7/5): Reasonably good - we will come back again. - Location - walking distance to shops, restaurants , very spacious rooms. It was nice seeing wild kangaroos on the property in the evening. The shower was old and the head kept falling down - was ok once my husband tightened it up.
- Mcgregor (8/5): Spacious. Quiet bush setting…..large recreational area, surrounded by fantastic mountain scenery. - Large bedroom/loungeKitchen plus extra two single bedroom.
150 metres from restaurants and brewery bar. Fridge needed defrosting, kitchen sink door needed hinge repair/ adjustment
- Anthony (6/5): - Location, very close to restaurants and shops Cleanliness of room was average, my wife probably left it cleaner when we left compared to when we arrived
- Wolfgang (8/5): Sehr schön, wir haben uns wohl gefühlt. - Sehr schöne Lage. Der Indoor Pool war super!
- Marina (3/5): Not worth the low price you pay - Location is the only good thing about this place The kitchen was not equipped at all. Towels very old and don't smell good. Pool was cold and not as advertised. Curtains torn and dusty. All very old
- Susan (3/5): Sheet were stained and towels were soiled - Needs updating Old taps
- Justin (7/5): -
- Marie (5/5): -
- Lisa (5/5): Value for money, needs consistency and site upgraded about bbq facilities, restaurant and breakfast included. - Location and tennis courts Each booking said we had breakfast included in all the rooms and they weren’t. There is no restaurant either. Each room had different crockery for example 2 out of the rooms had an electric frypan the others didn’t. Only 1 bbq worked which was small for a group of 10 people to try and cook on. Both bbqs were rusty and the area around the bbq had rubbish. The rooms didn’t have a tea towel, barely any dish washing liquid.
- Mel (6/5): - The location was excellent A lot of maintenance is required around the property. There was a hole in the wall in the second bedroom that was partly patched and then covered with sticky tape! Very old and outdated facilities and appliances. When I arrived to check in at 3pm, they were still cleaning the room and I had to wait, check in stated it was from 2pm. Reception door was locked at checkout despite a sign saying they open at 8:30 in the morning. I checked out at 9:30. Pool was not heated despite being advertised it is. Doona cover in main bed had mould on it.
- DOROTHY (2/5): Very disappointed - The only good thing was the location which is why I picked this place, we were able to walk most places we wanted we arrived after 2pm and our room hadn't been cleaned. so, we had to wait
Breakfast advertised when I booked, but when I asked when booking in there was none available
The room wasn't serviced at all. When I asked on the 3rd day for coffee, sugar and milk to be replenished and for clean towels I was told NO.
- Deborah (6/5): Couldn’t rate staff as we didn’t see anyone whole time we were there. - Location
- Kristina (1/5): Not worth the cheap price. - Very good location basically in the middle of the town. Receptionists not to be found at check in or check out. Just keys laid out at reception. Leaking aircon in the room! Dripping onto the kitchen table, a few centimetres away from the kitchen lamp on the wall. If I did not want to use the aircon, then I would have a lovely choice of filthy ventilator that was covered in black dust, not just grey dust. Air in rooms very musty and mouldy smelling. My bath towel stank. Bathroom mirror looked like someone just smeared dirt around. Forgotten soap bar on the shower cabin - there is no holder in the shower itself for it. Bathroom cabinet wood is literally crumbling. Thank goodness there was no obvious black mould in bathroom as it was last time. Oh yeah: all plants in the pool room are dead and dry and still there and it does not look like anyone is planing to do anything about it. There is not even a care to defrost the freezer - not usable at all due to ice built up. And also no care to at least make the dishes stacked nicely. Facility possibly run by absolutely unskilled and exploited people. Will not stay there again.
- Jessy (2/5): - The location Facility was filthy, pool area dirty and dirty toilets with rubbish everywhere.
- Sarah (6/5): We had a nice stay despite the old facilities. The location was fantastic - Location Very old facilities and rooms, the grounds and playground need a lot of work
- Michele (3/5): Disappointing - Spacious room, well located close to town and walks,. The property is dated, which is fine, but the maintenance and cleanliness were not fine.
The room needed a much better clean - there was dust, there were flies on the light, there was dirt on the carpet and the duvet cover, there were items left from previous occupants which should have been taken away.
The room had decent crockery and cutlery, but no tea towel for being able to dry items, and no dish rack for drainage.
The guest laundries were in appalling states inside and just outside where there was a lot of rubbish.
The property seems to have a lot of potential bur is in need of more care and attention to reach the potential.
- Eddie (8/5): -
- SJ (10/5): -
- Peter (3/5): Check in person before booking. - Location and staff welcome Hard b2d. Cockroaches. Bathroom screen. Dishes not cleaned. Cleaning staff not checking occupants there.
- Phoebe (7/5): Beautiful location and scenery. Friendly staff. Rooms are dated however it is as described and good value for money. - Great location Bedding was dated and discoloured, however you could tell it was freshly laundered.
- Alastair (10/5): Great location, clean and comfortable and good value for money - Great central location. Large room, really spacious and comfortable Only half a door to the bathroom and no kitchen sink, just the washbasin
- Sudoti (9/5): - location is very good . breakfast restaurant everything is very close family room is very good .
- Tim (3/5): was ok - location was good rooms were ok check in was 2pm we didnt get there until 3:30 pm they were still cleaning rooms had 4 rooms didnt get the first one until 4pm lucky we didnt get there at 2pm. rooms didnt smell very good bathrooms were ok but there was a couple that should of been way better. bed was ok the smell in the Rooms the pool could be cleaned better and toilet in pool was dirty no toilet paper lawns and gardens need alot of care BBQ area was run down and old and not very clean on arrival the bins were over loaded and rubbish around
- John-Paul (3/5): Generally OK but could have been better with a bit more attention to presentation. - Location was great. Room size was good. Beds were good. Air conditioner worked well. Nice size pool. Had to defrost fridge before use as it was totally iced up. Bathroom needs an update and could have been cleaner.
- raymond (7/5): -
- James (6/5): No breakfast provided as it was stated breakfast provided during booking confirmation -
- Adrian (5/5): Ok - Great location Rooms outdated and slight odour when arriving
- John (6/5): -
- Josh (8/5): -
- chamara (8/5): -
- Lisa (1/5): Book somewhere else and save yourself the hassle of having to find somewhere else to stay when you see the state of the - There wasn’t anything good about this property. The location could be good, but if the property is uninhabitable, it doesn’t matter where it is. The room was so filthy, we decided not to even stay there.
I don’t think the shower had been cleaned for weeks.
The mattress was thin and lumpy. Who knows if the sheets had even been washed.
The furniture and fittings were ancient and most were broken.
Was met upon arrival with a note on the reception door with mobile phone number to ring if unattended. I rang several times with no answer. Eventually a guy wandered over.
The grounds were overgrown.
- antonietta (8/5): Great cabin like location - location, close to all the town's facilities. lack of kitchen equipment
- Paul (2/5): -
- Melisa (8/5): This place was value for money. Room and bedroom was very spacious. Even though the rooms and bathroom are outdated it - The location was fantastic
- Stephen (7/5): -
- Collette (4/5): Great location and indoor pool. The room was adaquate but room for lots of improvement. - Fantastic location, spacious rooms, indoor pool, parking. Mould in the bathroom, kitchen draws grimy, broken clothes horse, double bed hard and old. Needs a major freshen up. Found a cockroach amongst my clothes when packing to leave. Electric blanket broken on single bed and can only use one setting on electric blanket on double bed.
- Ryan (10/5): -
- Jess (2/5): View and scenery was amazing but that’s all - The wildlife The fifth in the room and bathroom full of mould. Paid for 2 nights only stayed 1 due to the amount of mould and my health
- Jack (6/5): -
- Frank (6/5): -
- Andrew (6/5): - The door handle didn’t work very well, I had difficulty getting in (and out). Room # 4
