- Emily (8/5): - Nice and quiet and private. Very cozy. Nice to have breakfast provided. Comfortable bed and couch. Nice and close to Montville :) The no WiFi is a bit of a bummer. Maybe a Starlink might be the way to go.
A few more bits in the kitchen would be great. Scissors, Colander, more sharp knives, extra tea towels, small pod coffee machine. A nice body wash would be great over the bar soap too.

- Natasha (10/5): Beautiful cottage , relaxing, peaceful and great for some quality couple time, loved it. - Perfect for us, beautiful modern, clean and quiet. Staff vey approachable, happy to message and call with enquires, self check in made it a breeze, beautiful relaxing property close enough to town but seclude and peaceful, exactly what we needed for a couple night away. We be back.
- Cheukman (8/5): -
- Nicola (10/5): - Peaceful, quiet and secluded in a beautiful setting. A great place to relax, switch off and disconnect. Would liked to have stayed longer.
- Jenny (9/5): A peace of heaven hidden in Montville. - So peaceful, comfy , the property is a perfect little getaway from the hustle and bustle. Perfect nothing to complain about.
- Kerry (8/5): We had a great time with plenty of space. The staff were very helpful. - The Location was great for local attractions and getting to and from the motorway. The breakfast supplies were great as ws the tea and coffee. The bonus was oil, milk, butter and vegemite. A very private cabin, you could not see the other cabins from our location. Not much of a view. No privacy with the bathroom in that particular cabin. The oven took a long time to cook our food.
- Katrina (10/5): Beautiful, relaxing and romantic stay. - Secluded and romantic location, great service by the owners and staff.
- Natalie (10/5): We loved the outside fire pit. So lovely to look at the stars and toast marshmallows while having a red wine. - Everything you required with a full kitchen great comfy bed. Size of the cabin was perfect
- Elishea (10/5): Couldn’t have asked for better honeymoon weekend! - Very quiet and peaceful Nothing
- Brenda (9/5): Perfect for a romantic weekend getaway - Nice and close to everything, I love how immersed we felt on the nature, everything was very clean and peaceful . Jack was very friendly went above and beyond to accommodate us and make everything special.
- Liz (8/5): - Private Too far from town
- Clare (10/5): -
- Ann-meree (10/5): Amazingly relaxing and just what we needed. - Prior to arrival any communication was prompt, very informative and helpful. Jack and Lana had us already feeling comfortable and relaxed prior to staying through the instructions and prior communication. From the moment you arrive all you really hear and see is tranquility of the nature. Even though cabins are kind of close you don’t feel like you are on top of each other. The property is very environmentally friendly. The only real fault was the shower. Not sure if it was just us. But the temperature pulsated from cold to extreme hot. Which made showering interesting.
Minor high cleaning areas have been over looked inside. Otherwise absolutely perfect with the cleanliness.
- Terryn (10/5): -
- Clint (8/5): Great would love to do it in winter with the fire - The privacy A trolley to take your luggage to your room
- Diane (9/5): -
- John and Les (9/5): enjoyable - fair for bacon & eggs being told the distance from the carpark to the unit we are near 80yr great help with the bags
- Bailey (10/5): -

- Lynda (10/5): Amazing, quiet, clean, relaxing, close to shops and restaurants but still hidden away! - So clean and tidy and just like a rainforest Nothing loved it!
- Jennifer (10/5): -
- Natalie (8/5): - So peaceful Needed to Update dvd collection - tv would not get channels
- Angela (10/5): My stay at Cedarwood cottage was so peaceful and relaxing, the host Jack made us feel very welcome! I didn’t want to lea - A beautiful spa cabin in a magical rainforest.
- Josh (10/5): Magical - Everything was perfect I liked every single bit of it
- Summer (3/5): - The location of the property was very beautiful and calming. My partner and I stayed here for a little weekend get away, at first we loved the place until we started to notice some things. We found blood on the bed sheets and checked to see if any of us were bleeding we were not. We then decided to have a bath in the spa, when we put the jets on it smelt like straight sewage and dirt started coming out. We got out of the bath when this happened and drained the water to our surprise we found other peoples hair, dirt and dead ants everywhere. We then went to have a shower and once again to our surprise there was ants EVERYWHERE! It was revolting. We are extremely dissatisfied with the stay and would appreciate a refund.
- Daryl (9/5): Great stay. Hosts were excellent - Location Nil
- York (9/5): - Lovely stay and restful Poor internet but was a bit of the charm maybe some information notes etc. Otherwise great and looking forward to returning
- Andrea (10/5): Absolutely beautiful - Such a beautiful tranquil cabin. Perfect stay for a couple. Absolutely loved it ❤️ The only thing I would change would be the time of year to stay when the cicadas are a bit quieter. Nature at its best.
- Paul (6/5): -
- Lachlan (8/5): Quiet, Peaceful, Comfortable and both my Partner and I who lead busy lives found it easy to relax. - Breakfast was supplied and it was fresh and we both loved it, it had just a weird number or amount of items for 2 people. When we arrived the place was clean and tidy, except the bin in the kitchen had not been emptied. When I advised them, they were apologetic and supplied us with new bin liners etc.
- Sally (10/5): Short stay 2 nights - Quiet and peaceful. Beautiful cottage and well equipped. Excellent communication wuth hosts N/A
- Megan (10/5): -
- Glenyss (10/5): Great for unplug n reconnect definitely coming back next year - It was lovely and private within rainforest. Excellent to relax and unplug
- Suan (9/5): Beautiful place, very suited to couples retreat. Very quite and lots of wildlife. - Great breakfast supplies and the location and room were lovely. Aircon needs a good service, setting it was difficult. No fire kit for the fireplace.
- Michelle (8/5): Great little rainforest gem. - Great location, you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere but if you want to venture out you are only a 5 min drive to Montville. The owner, Jack, was very hospitable. No WiFi available in the cabin, you have to go to reception if you want WiFi. No TV reception when it rains, not the end of the world they do supply some DVDs
- Lisa (9/5): We had an amazing stay. Will be back and highly recommend. - The peace and quiet. Disconnect from society Needed sauce.
Some chairs around fire pit.
- Estate (10/5): A fantastic chill out in a beautiful natural setting - Lovely Cottage in a beautiful setting. Great location for visiting Montville which is a very pretty little town with lovely independent shops and restaurants. Our host was really friendly and very helpful and gave great advice regarding places to visit. Highly recommend.
- Brenda (8/5): -
- Mia (10/5): It was perfect and would 100% stay again! - Cedarwood was perfect! It has absolutely amazing facilities and amazing hosting. We lived everything, just make sure you take ye torch provided at nighttime
- Alexandra (10/5): 11/10/ Can't wait to come back. - We absolutely loved our stay at Hunchy Hideaway! The location of the property is perfect, just a short drive to both Montville and Palmwoods - both cute little towns with many antique stores and cafes to explore. We also explored areas such as Maleny (head to the Cheese Factory!), Eumundi (Markets on Wednesday and Saturday) and Maroochydore which were approx 30 - 40 mins drive by car. We enjoyed the ingredients provided for breakfast and hiking down to the waterfall below the property. Jack and fellow staff were beyond helpful and friendly, making us feel very at home. We can't wait to come back for our next stay :) Nothing! We were caught a little off guard when realising the bathroom in our villa didn't have a door, though it wasn't an issue in the slighest :)
- Garland (6/5): -
- Billie Rose (7/5): - It was a beautiful room with gorgeous views. Check in and check out was incredibly easy. Loved the fairy lights lighting the paths. No toilet door.
- Aprile (10/5): We found the cottages very clean. It was very relaxing and exactly wha we needed. - It was very clean and relaxing. Jack was very pleasant and extremely helpful with recommendations.
- Guest (9/5): Romantic getaway with my partner private clean and welcoming location - Clean and tidy. Very welcoming and private.
- Hancock (4/5): - The location was ideal for what we were wanting for Montville. The general theme is nice. The cottage has so much potential. I imagine it would've been nice when it first opened. There was no area for the travel bags to store clothes in or on (corner of the kitchen bench is unacceptable), no bench for the bathroom for my wife's personals, and a glass shelf was insufficient The cooking pots, pan, and utensils were dirty, cobwebs everywhere, and the sliding door needs adjusting. The outdoor BBQ should be thrown out. no one will cook on that. Creeking steps were annoying, and the general finishes were average. A pull-out electric cooker was ordinary due to cost per night, the seclusion is refreshing but lacks comforts to keep you entertained, the couch is old with cracking leather isnt an ideal 4-5 star Yes, no WIFI is great, but the needs to be more luxury to keep you in the Cottage. Consider a wifi booster for the Cottages.
No upkeep delivered. It was disappointing.
- Col Bard (10/5): - A fantastic gem nestled in the natural forest bushland of hunchy at the base of montville, the location is very quiet and relaxing, the host are very friendly and knowledgeable of the area
- Olivia (10/5): -
- Jennie Deane (8/5): - The location in the rainforest was beautiful and peaceful. We stayed in Gumnut cottage and it was wonderful to be surrounded by nature and see none of the other cabins.
We loved the spotlessly clean spa looking out the window through the trees.
Jack was a warm and friendly host and we loved the video he sent to us prior to our arrival to show us the pathway through the forest to our cabin.
It was helpful to have the use of a trolley to wheel our luggage up and down the hill to our cabin.
The room was well lit and good for reading. We would have liked more windows with fly screens so we could open them during our stay, but Jack said they are soon to be installed.
Anyone with difficulty walking down a slope should either book one of the cabins near reception or ask Jack's help in carrying luggage down the hill to Gumnut cottage.
- Ko (9/5): -
- Richard (10/5): -
- Zoe (10/5): -
- Candi (10/5): - Everything.
Clear communication with booking and check in, beautiful room, comfortable bed and great shower
- Giannoula (8/5): Overall a pleasant stay with oodles of privacy and peace - The location was very peaceful and the cabin was tidy and cosy. We stayed in the cedarwood cottage. Overall a great place if you want to chill and disengage from the hustle and bustle. Close to township/local shops. The bathroom/shower facilities were great. It felt like we were alone in the woods as we barely saw anyone else so the privacy and seclusion was wonderful! Things missing were paper towels/tissues. The bed was firm and uncomfortable to sleep in. No closet space or suitcase stand. No extra pillows or blanket.
- Ednarrel (10/5): definitely coming back again! - absolutely everything! my partner and I’s favourite feature was the spa!! nothing at all
- Waytipsy (10/5): - Sweet and cosy stay.
The grounds are beautiful, the villas were private and contained everything we needed.
Looking forward to staying again in the future.
Our hosts had great communication.
- Hitzke (10/5): - It was private, clean, had everything we needed, and more. Great facilities. Nothing
- Vee007 (10/5): -
- Samantha (8/5): -
- Alison (6/5): The area is beautiful and peaceful - It was peaceful There was no wifi in the cabins only at the reception
Just for emergencies and I like to read off my iPad but couldn’t
- Karla (10/5): Loved our stay at Hunchy Hideaway - We stayed a very comfortable 3 nights in the Jasmine rainforest cottage. I enjoyed no phone or internet at the property, but might be hard for some.
We were surprised to arrive to very thoughtful supplies to last our stay, bread, eggs, bacon, nespresso coffee, milk, yoghurt.
We loved the deck, especially of an afternoon, being surrounded by the rainforest, the birds and sunset were beautiful. Very peaceful and relaxing, it felt like we were the only ones there!
There is a waterfall on the property which was another great surprise and incredible to have all to yourself (if you don't mind a little challenge).
The location is fantastic, being so close to Montville centre and cafes.
Thank you so much for having us, we had a great weekend and would highly recommend! Lack of internet and reception might be an issue for some.
- Deb (10/5): Perfect romantic getaway - Perfectly secluded. Beautiful rainforest view. Lovely spa. Quick response to queries
- Natasha (10/5): Private, relaxed and beautiful location - All the special little extra touches, the privacy and pure relaxed feel of the place. We have stayed before and it was just as good. Right in a beautiful little pocket of rainforest and so close to Montville and Palmwoods. The toilet needs a door, but not a huge issue
- Raymond (10/5): - Nice a quiet beautiful setting Nothing
- Michelle (10/5): -
- Sandra (10/5): A very relaxing stay in a sweet secluded location. - The breakfast was very generous and fresh. Just a short drive to Montville and the lovely hinterland. The wildlife was a bonus with lovely birdcalls, and the resident bush turkey and possum made it even more special.
- Lena (10/5): Can't wait to return! - Everything! Absolutly gorgeous! Comfy bed, beautiful surroundings, gorgeous little touches everywhere What didn't I like? That we had to leave and go home 😭
- Adrian (10/5): - Perfect stay with exceptional service
- Michael (9/5): Cruisy - It was clean and comfy. Nothing
- Quinn (8/5): -
- Diana (10/5): -
- Jazz (9/5): -
- Natalie (10/5): -
- Kimberley (10/5): Our stay was magical - We absolutely loved our stay here. The place is secluded and quiet with a beautiful outlook of the rainforest. Walking to our cabin the pathways were lit with fairy lights were magical.
Jack and Lana were very accomodating with our arrival time, and sending personalised messages and videos before we arrived with all the instructions was amazing! Having breakfast provided was super lovely and delicious! The cabin was beautiful. We would absolutely come back! There was limited wifi / phone receiption, but this was good because it forces you to switch off and relax!
- David (10/5): -
- Roman (10/5): -
- Christopher (4/5): Extremely disappointing, lacked the refined touches as was described. We have photos. - The Cabin was lovely and cosy and the photos did it justice, but it seriously lacked many of the basic requirements for a comfortable and safe stay. The lack of a prepared fire on arrival was very disappointing. No firewood prepared, had to make several trips to stack at main house to collect enough wood for the first night, and again for the second night. The kindling was full of sap and spat everywhere. The timber was extremely dry and burnt crazy fast without much heat. The fire safety screen was falling apart, we were afraid it would collapse completely.
The back Patio light had blown so long ago, it was rusting. Was advised they would look into it upon our departure. We could move the BBQ and gas bottle through the cabin to the front deck if we preferred. The BBQ plate only had 1 working burner, didn't realise this while having second burner running without flame. Cooked by camera phone, thankfully, or we would not have cooked given state of plate in the light of day, the only cleaning material in the cabin was toilet paper, there was no kitchen paper available.
Couldn't cook on the stove top because the grill pan was rusting and baked on grease.
Oven was dirty and rusty with broken door handle, the burners had built up grease around them.
Breakfast of bacon & eggs had nothing to be cooked on, expect a stainless-steel pot.
The Showers were both clogged with scale, and we couldn't shower during our stay.
- Donna (9/5): We will be back! - It was beautiful, the breakfast platter was plentiful. A little disappointed that the spa wasn’t working however we still had a really lovely time.
- Natalie (8/5): Unique and secluded, loved it - Great location, especially for visiting both Australia Zoo and Mooloolaba. Spa bath was amazing, definitely added to the uniqueness of the place. Shower heads could do with being replaced / fixed
- Sue (7/5): Just a few little issues but overall we loved our stay - It was lovely and quiet and very peaceful. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. We would have liked real bacon for breakfast
There were no fire lighters as the container was empty and no matches to light the fire which we expected to be available
A bench or seating in the bathroom would be handy just to put toilet bags on instead of on the floor
TV was very confusing
- Dustin (9/5): Superb -
- Adrian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lorraine (8/5): Very good -
- Rhiannon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gary (6/5): Nice but not ideal. - The spa. The fairy lights and entrance. The bush setting. The fireplace. The bed was comfortable. No internet connection. Lack of cupboard space. Minimal mirrors. No space to put the suitcases. No bathroom or toilet door. No paper towels. Limited towels provided. Requirement to wash dishes for the next person unhygienic. Breakfast options were limited.
- Adam (9/5): Superb -
- Julie (9/5): Superb -
- Todd_bris (7/5): A beautiful location amongst the trees, a few minor issues but a nice stay for our honeymoon. - The property was in a great location, secluded amongst the trees which was beautiful and the property owners gave great check in advice and support. We had some issues with the fireplace that weren't able to be resolved and also the air con unit that had some errors so we weren't able to use that either. There were some very minor cleaning issues like dirty wine glasses but on the whole the property was well kept and in good condition, Wifi wasn't available in the cottages themselves but available up in the carpark near reception.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melissa (10/5): - Hunchy Hideaway nestled 2 minutes outside of Montville is stunning and a wonderful place to stay. The cottages are immaculate and the attention to detail by the owners is lovely. They left breakfast options for us to use and the surrounds are nice and quiet and the sounds of the rainforest make you feel so relaxed. Close to the surrounds of Montville and Maleny and so many places to explore. Highly recommend Hunchy Hideaway if you are after a romantic getaway with your loved one.
- Lochlan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Scott (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (10/5): - Nice and quiet in the rainforest
- Shanice (10/5): Exceptional - Beautifully built cottages! 5minutes out of Montville. Peaceful and serene
- Sandra (9/5): Had a relaxing stay, nice and quiet, good accommodation, close to montvile. - Easy to get to, good accommodation. Information given spot on. Few spiderwebs around, your in the bush but could be sprayed and wiped down.
- Brendan (6/5): Pleasant - Possum visit during the evening Toilet / Bathroom door was missing.
- Jacqui (10/5): We had such a wonderful 3 nights. Lovely cosy and comfortable cabin with beautiful surroundings. Only minutes drive from - The cottage was exactly what we wanted. It was beautiful and secluded and we loved the fireplace and the lovely spa bath. The hosts were awesome. Excellent communication Limited phone reception etc. but it really didn’t bother us at all
