Guest Reviews
- Katherine (8/5): - Lots of space. Great location
- Jay (10/5): - This is a real gem, glad to have found it. Extremely good location in the city and in a nice quiet area. Easy check in and the staff were friendly.
- Warren (4/5): - The pool availability was good. The room size and cleanliness were adequate. Seating and benchtop space were limited. Nowhere to hang clothes. Nowhere to hang swimwear to dry.
- Paul (10/5): - Good price.
- Carl (8/5): - Close to the centre of the city. The room was appropriate and clean and reasonable for the price. The shower is not the best, however having plates and cutlery was great for me. Recommended.
- Evelin (6/5): - Needs renovation
- Michael (10/5): - Friendly staff
- Douglas (10/5): Great place and solid value - The hotel was great for the price! Not many frills but the location is great and the value for the money is excellent. It is bacically a one bedroom apartment with plenty of room.
- Roger (8/5): - Great location, easy walking, lots of room in the unit, v clean despite being dated.
- Terri (8/5): - The staff were so welcoming and helpful when booking tours.
The apartment was extremely clean and had everything we needed.
The pool area was nice and also neat and tidy.
The only down side was the external look of the property, as it operates as a car rental business and the building is old and in need of repair.
However the price per night compensates for this and although the building is dated inside the apartment is very clean with an updated kitchenette and freshly painted with new blinds, floor coverings, aircon and offers Netflix.
Perfect accommodation on a budget and walking distance to everything.
- Marguerite (6/5): - Tired and dated, located next to a hostel and late night party venue and at the back of a car rental. If you want to be woken early but cars shifting around, then you are in for a treat. The place needs freshening up. It was way too expensive for what you get.
- Douglas (10/5): - Exactly as advertised.
Friendly and very helpful staff!
- Anthony (2/5): - Staff was very ride
- Paul (8/5): - The property is well situated and easily within walking distance to the city center, medical center and restaraunts. The staff were friendly and welcoming and there is a rental car business on site. There is no self parking on site. The shower had excellent pressure.
- Marianne (10/5): - As an older property it was very spacious inside and all things needed for a stay were provided; not flash but well presented. Easy walk to shops, the esplanade and the market. Will stay again if I need another overnighter in Cairns. Comfy bed, helpful staff, and great price. Only issue was early check-in - by 4:30pm and no on-site parking.
- Marvin (8/5): - Very noisy in the morning. Not an issue if you leave before 0800ish however.
- Stuart (8/5): - My visit to A1 was a pleasant surprise, when I first arrived, I was not sure, but I quickly found myself seeing so much potential in the property.
The apartment was clean, well organised, but as you stay longer you notice it is just in need of a freshen up. The kitchenette was basic but very user friendly, fans in each room were refreshing, but like most Cairns locations there is not heating provided to the rooms, so if you sleep cold be sure to rug up.
Backpackers behind were a little noisy in the early hours of Sunday morning, but besides that the overall location was lovely. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
- gary (8/5): - Good, well situated
- Mark (4/5): - Poor
- Kevin (10/5): Pleasantly surprised - Friendly and happy reception, no problems getting keys early. Clean and tidy apartment (even the bedroom smelt of fresh and clean linen). Convenient location.
- Bill (8/5): - Great value and location.
- Linda (8/5): - Very comfortable, but right in front of a hostel which was quite noisy. Easy walking distance to everything
- Alison (8/5): - Excellent central location with a huge room.
- Dianne (8/5): - Quiet location overnight however it’s not the place for a sleep in with rental cars being cleaned outside your window at 6.30am! Car doors slamming, vacuum cleaner noise, cars being moved.
- Gregory (8/5): - What i didnt like someone had tied a plastic bag over the smoke alarm in the bedroom. I reported this to a staff member. The motel room was clean and close to the city centre walking distance.
- Bill (10/5): - Comfortable bed and nifty kitchenette. The room was clean and tidy. Good location for the Cairns CBD, eateries and esplanade waterfront. Friendly staff.
- Rikki (2/5): - Didn't stay
- Mike (6/5): Cheap and no frills. - An unorthodox place mixed in with a car rental agency, however we would stay again as it was cheap and close to everything.
- Timothy (10/5): - Easy to find and book in, very happy and helpful staff, nice easy to access pool and close to town
- Paul (10/5): - Not clean very disappointing
- Allison (8/5): - Very pleasant and helpful staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): Perfect for me - Spacious, comfortable, :clean old style. Great shower recess and rose: tiled, lots of room. Fan an extra option to AC which I always appreciate. Close parking after 6pm an issue as Novotel and Baileys across the road. Easy walk to esplanade for eateries and night life. Library handy walk. Laundromat and cafe in same block.
- Barb (8/5): - Pleasant reception staff
- Tiana (10/5): - We stayed at A1 as we were up there for a funeral. The owner had a cowboys gnome on the verandah when i asked where he was from and explained that the cowboys were my passed away brother in laws favourite team she gave us the gnome. That meant so much to my partner and myself such a heartfelt nice thing to do .
- Mark (6/5): - I liked that my stay was short.
I didn't like not being able to use their "free wifi" and when I asked the person at the desk said he'd ask someone else and get back to me, but didn't. It was budget priced but still too expensive for what it is. They also run a hire car and travel co. at the front desk. They start/move/wash the cars early each morning. move them out into the street each morning and put them in the complex each night. I feel like that's what gets taken care of, guests and property miss out.
- Dolaxi (8/5): - The property was just perfect for family , it’s just that parking was near the road , it was bit tricky to carry the stuff ! Otherwise we enjoyed the stay ..! We wud love to stay incase we get to travel again !
- Laurel (10/5): - The room I booked was large & worth it's price.
- John (10/5): - Friendly staff, great facilities
I couldn't recommend highly enough
- Glen (2/5): Not open after 5pm - You can NOT book this if you show up after 5pm as no one is on site. This site will still let you book the room even after 5pm and you think you have a place to stay until you get there and find out you don't.
- Natalie (10/5): - Great location, clean and excellent value for money
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very well located for restaurants, ocean front, station and reef cruises. Weird front desk hours, especially on week ends
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Outside is very ordinary but the rooms have had new paint and flooring. Very clean in rooms.
Was upgraded to apartment and it is huge. Very quiet and would stsy again if needing somewhere just to sleep.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room I had was just fabulous for the length of stay I had. (12 days)
It had everything I needed, I was able to cook myself a meal when I felt like staying in. I was within walking vicinity to all I wanted to access in the city and bus service was only minutes away. Staff was happy and friendly and helpful.
- Steven (8/5): - Basic room, great location and very very clean!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This is not the place to stay. Advertised as a Motel on Wotif. It turns out to be a Car Rental company with rooms. The studio rooms are not in the Motel but a couple of doors down in Car Rental car yard.
Not a nice place. Don't stay here. The Studios are not serviced and if you need something you have to go back to main office to get it. If you have the misfortune to stay in the Car Yard it is noisy. Avoid this place.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Surprise stay - We needed to stay 1 night somewhere close to airport. We picked the cheapest hotel on the day. When we got there, we felt uncomfortable looking from outside. But it wasn't too bad at all inside. Surely place is very old but very big room, keeping clean and staff were very helpful.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - We were very disappointed with our room. The walls were cinderblock and half the bulbs in the room didn't work (including in the bathroom). The bathroom felt like a locker room. The sheets weren't very clean but there was functional air conditioning. The room was pretty quiet, but I wouldn't bother staying there again.
- Noel (2/5): - It was the worst hotel experience I have had. The owner of this business is horrible to deal with. Don’t stay here.
- Robert (10/5): A great low cost tiny hotel. - A quick stop before an early morning dive. I wanted something simple and inexpensive. The check in hours are very limited but the staff was super accommodating and explained how I could let myself in. Very quiet, small place, nice sized room and bed. AC was fine. Microwave and kettle and refrigerator in the room, milk in the fridge. Coffee and tea and sugar. A very pleasant swimming pool next to the room was a nice surprise and very refreshing.
- Franca (6/5): - Great location. Walking distance to all major venues in city. Although lack of off street parking is an issue with limited free parking. Room standards are ok. It is a 2star motel and is good value for the price paid
- Andrew (10/5): An amazing motel in cairns - A1 Inn the city Great time Amazing staff was so friendly helping me with my tours up to Cape York Thursday Island
- Andrew (10/5): Best place in Cairns to stay - A1 Inn the city Was a fantastic stay and the staff were amazing they professionalism with outstanding helping with tours etc
- Andrew (10/5): Best place in Cairns to stay - A1 Inn The City Had a lovely fantastic time staying have been placed on an off for past three weeks staff are amazing best place in cans staff went beyond and above helping out with tours
- Warren (8/5): - Good apartment pity about building noise from across road
- George (6/5): Noisy !!! - Room was very noisy, due mostly to close proximity of 5 room doorways all opening onto a small, highly reverberant foyer.
No curtain, door or retaining tilework on shower cubicle, causing water to accumulate on bathroom floor while showering.
- Susan (6/5): Basic, clean, budget - A basic, clean motel. Good location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value - Good value though a little noisy close to backpackers
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Don’t let the exterior building deter you from booking these beautifully renovated apartments.
They are a beautiful gem inside, also friendly and helpful staff.
Located on the main strip of Cairns city and close to car rental places.
- James (8/5): Good quality budget accommodation in the CBD - Very satisfactory, although pool needed attention due to floating vegetation. Was pleased that my request for a ground floor room was acted upon
- Megan (10/5): - A hidden gem in the heart of Cairns city. Luxurious tastefully refurbished apartments. Rosa and Peter are great hosts. Free WiFi. Walk to the beautiful Cairns Esplanade and the marina. Just two blocks from great shopping at Cairns Central. Laundromat downstairs. A1 Inn the City is my home away from home. Love it!
- Chris (10/5): Really spacious apartment in the middle of Cairns - A really spacious apartment right in the middle of cairns, really quick and easy to get to all the attractions (the wharf for boat trips is about 5-10 mins walk). The kitchen was really useful for making breakfast and the bedroom was in a separate room to the lounge area. Lots of little helpful extras thought of such as washing up liquid provided under the sink. Would recommend this accommodation.
- jewels (10/5): Town Centre and spacious - It was perfect for us. Simple, clean and spacious. Great value and friendly host, right in the centre of Cairns.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Couldnt access motel booked online there was no one at reception didnt stay there because i had no way of getting in
- Verified traveler (6/5): - OK for the price. Good sized room and comfortable. No onsite parking and very noisy backpackers next door
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very convenient to CDB. Not suitable for a long stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Close to where I wanted to be - Nice place easy to find and comfortable. Check in was easy and staff were very freindly
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was fine for overnight. Super noisy until about 3am with Koala Beach backpacker resort next door.
- Mike (8/5): For the cost --good value - Clean and tidy. Good location. Good air conditioning.
- Benji (8/5): A1 Experience at the A1 Motor Inn - Excellent value for money, will stay here again. A great option for the budget conscious traveler in Cairns, close to everything and plenty of $$ left over for fun.
- Laura (6/5): Cheap Hotel near city centre - Felt weird to stay in a hotel that was primarily a car rental place, but it wasn't bad. There was a small gap under the door that allowed mosquitos to get through during the night, but we fixed it by jamming towels under the door. Really close to laundry facilities and within walking distance of the majority of the shops.
- Aaron (8/5): Excellent location a large room! - The room was really large. With a double and single bed in the main bedroom and a day bed in the living room as well as an airconditioner in the main bedroom and an aircondition in the living room. The decor is simple and clean nothing flashy. BAck door to balcony was good. The only negative was that it's close to party central so I could hear people partying at night but they didn't seem to go past midnight so was bareable. I would re book this for work reasons as it's spacious friendly staff and super close to everything.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location not far from down town. How much more do you want to know.
- michael (6/5): Convenient & clean hotel - Clean convenient (good AC) great value room
- Verified traveler (6/5): Excellent budget accommodation - Central location, large clean rooms but whole place quite dated. All rooms are on first floor.
- Katrina (4/5): Close walk to the mall. - It was good, close to the mall and chairs on the verandah.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location - It was upstsairs no lift im no good with stairs if i had known i would not have stayed there.
