Guest Reviews
- kim (10/5): - Walkable to beach and staff helpful
- Thomas (8/5): - Good vibe, nice private rooms
- Gary (10/5): - Quiet nature location with lovely poolside hammocks and friendly bar staff
- Chloe (6/5): - The hostel is great compared to many. We stayed in a private room, as two couples. We were woken at 6am every morning by staff blasting music at the connecting koala sanctuary. We complained the first day to staff and the very same thing happened the next day, we were offered breakfast and drink vouchers which was appreciated, however a 6am wake up call on the weekend by staff really was a major disappointment. The room had a problem with ants, and there was a big gap at the top of our door which let in lots of insects. A few touch ups and the room itself would’ve been great. The food and drinks were great. And a great location.
- Sophie (6/5): - Cute little hostel on Magnetic Island which was adequate but not amazing. We loved the pool area and walking around the grounds, also enjoyed the bird feeding. Nice chill environment in the communal areas. The staff were all friendly and welcoming.
The room had a few little things that just played on our mind. We stayed in the queen room with private bathroom - the sink is so so unnecessarily tiny, they provide a kettle in this room but it’s almost impossible to fill in the sink, every time you wash your face or teeth water just ends up everywhere and on the floor. No floor towel provided (only 2 small bath towels) so water just sits on the floor, and then the toilet door is water damaged and swollen so is hard to open. There is no need for the sink to be so tiny, a standard size basin and cupboard would fit with hanging space on the adjacent wall.
Other little things are - provide tea/coffee and cups in the room but no teaspoons; there was no remote for the fan and when we asked about it was told maintenance would be told but nothing happened - no wall switch so just couldn’t use it; no blinds or coverings on the windows and the street light from outside just shines through all night. Again just a bunch of little annoying things but add up and could be such a simple fix to make this place amazing. Outdoor hooks or small clothes line would be great as well given it’s an island with lots of swimming/water activities.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Such a cute place! Older buildings, but so much character!! And the Koala Park was amazing - great information and beautiful environment for the animals!
- David (10/5): - great place
- Ross (8/5): - Great location
- JONATHAN H (10/5): - Nice ,relaxing place
Lovely swimming pool,good food.
Pet friendly
- simon (6/5): - Unfortunately the staff on the front desk are not informed about the islands important information. They could not answer any questions we had for them. And the guy i spoke to the day before i arrived told me there was no comunal kitcken. And there was when i arrived/ which aslo is not on your website.
- Denise (10/5): - Beautiful grounds, and we loved our cabin. It felt roomy and cozy at the same time. It was great having our own tea kettle, coffee and refrigerator. The staff were always available and we loved the option of coming down to the main area for coffee and/or breakfast, lunch, drinks, dinner etc. We loved the variety of travelers playing pool, cards, ping pong and chatting. Beautifully decrated with custom mural and tapestries.
- Jacinta (10/5): - Great place to stay! Friendly staff, relaxing common areas, loads of activities, and convenient transport options.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely stay in the cabin! Fridge and AC in the room which was perfect! Events on each night if you want to get involved. Close to a bus stop and walking distance to the beach. Staff were all lovely and helpful. The bathrooms were fine for us but not particularly clean even after their daily clean. Slight downside was guests do not keep the communal kitchen clean and a lot of the gas hobs don’t work.
Would definitely recommend staying here in the cabins! I would not recommend staying in the glamping tent as they are currently being treated for mould.
- Dean (8/5): - The facilities were clean and tidy. Lovely staff and there was even a Koala in the tree just out side my hut. A very relaxing stay
- Susan (10/5): Koala behind out tent! - This place has a lovely, chilled vibe. We heard a koala out the back of our tent around 5.30am (grunting quietly) so we got out slowly and watched it climb the tree and eat. Magical early morning moment!!. We stayed in a glamping tent - it was basic but had a proper bed, side tables, bean bag and lights. Loved it here, wanted to stay longer. Will be back.
- Laszlo (10/5): - Good.
- Tegan (10/5): - Fun comfortable accommodation. Close to bus stop. Easy walk to beach, cafes, restaurants and bars.
- Russell (10/5): - It was a really friendly place that encouraged social activities. A really great vibe.
- Michelle (8/5): - Selina’s had a great vibe, it was relaxed and very enjoyable. The activities on offer were great. Our whole family enjoyed it. Magnetic Island is fantastic!
- Michelle (8/5): - Great vibe at this hotel. The place was great for families.
- Nadine (10/5): - great location - lovely staff and a positive family vibe. food was delicious and good value
- Divina (10/5): - Such a beautiful spot tucked inside nature.
The cabin we booked had some small issues which I presume came from wear and tear but at the price, they should be sorted. The bathroom and toilet doors were stiff and hard to manipulate. The AC/heater was so frustrating to operate. The fan switch didnt work properly. All that aside, this place was so convenient and cosy. The communal kitchen had all the amenities one would need. It was kept ckean and tidy. Having the var there where we could have a drink aftwr a long day of exploring waa perfect. And being able to just order a meal if too lazy to cook was added bonus. The place had the most relaxed vibe and you couldnt help but wallow in holiday mode
- AD (10/5): - Bus stop out the front door
- Katherine (10/5): - Had a fantastic stay in a glamping tent. Could have had more bedding as it was a little cool at night.
Facilities were great. Hired a car but there is a bus stop out the front. Great social area with pool table. Lots of wildlife around. Would stay there again.
- Lauren (8/5): - We stayed in the family cabin with our 4 children. We all enjoyed our stay. The room had its own toilet and shower, a small fridge and tea/coffee facilities. Though the bed had sheets and pillows, there was no blankets so we were a little cold during the night.
The lounge area was popular with the kids, they loved the beanbags and hammocks.
The pool area was well equiped with bean bags, hammocks and plenty of shade from surrounding trees.
The bar was only staffed by one person on the Saturday night, so waiting for people to order food and drinks was lengthy. Bar staff also had to clear the floor from empty glasses and plates which also added to the wait.
Karaoke was a great!
The food was the biggest let down. And without sounding too harsh, it was pathetic what we got served.
My son order the hummus and pita, the tiniest pot of hummus was served, it was ridiculous. The pita tasted stale.
My salad was just some lettuce, small amount of cucumber and some chickpeas. A really crappy attempt for the price I paid.
The burgers we order were also burnt to a crisp and it appeared the beef patty had been split in 2 to make the 2 burgers.
The man working in the kitchen that night seemed like I was inconveniencing him by asking him dietary questions about the sauce, which he could not answer. Inconsistencies in the labelling on the menu left me confused. One item with garlic aioIi labelled vegetarian, another with garlic aioli labelled vegan?! Man working kitchen could not be certain.
- Niall (6/5): Not the usual selina standard - Room was nice, location was great and desk staff were helpful but the place was really poorly run. The kitchen was tiny for the number of people, lots of things were faulty and was really poorly stocked with crockery. The bar had ran out of drink and the kitchen had ran out of food. Being on an island isn't really an excuse for that, it's only a 40 minute ferry ride to townsville. Some of our friends were in a room (a 4 person dorm on an old bus) which had no lock which was a little odd. In some cheaper hostels this might be fine, but people often pay a premium to stay in selinas
- Vicki (10/5): - A fantastic and relaxed atmosphere. Staff are wonderful!
- Megan (10/5): - Great location
