Guest Reviews
- Joanne (8/5): Convenient and friendly service - Convenient location and friendly service. We had a late arrival and found our room was not a twin share; the manager quickly provided an alternative and assisted with our relocation with no fuss. Our room was clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Close to gym; friendly staff, had everything we needed
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very quite spot, perfect access tothe main roads, Would stay again.
- Ila (8/5): A cheerful old style friendly welcome - Reception at end of bar within restaurant, most laidback, informal checkin by very friendly male who was watching cricket.
Room looks outdated with striped bedspread and wall television so small it was hard to see any detail. Mini bar was well stocked at very reasonable prices, and individual toiletries provided, not just pumps as in many much more expensive hotels. Also more than adequate supply of tea and coffee, also milk, replaced daily.
Main gripe was lack of wifi in room, although available in bar area, but as a late night and early morning user, difficulty fitting in.
As drive an electric car, when mentioned at checkin, most agreeable to plugging in to room, also offered extension lead if required
- Hilton (6/5): - Appearance on entry .. looked a little abandoned and forgotten
- Suzanne (10/5): - Well positioned hotel friendly staff
- G (6/5): - Spacious room but very basic and dated. Clean. Very nice staff. Parking. Restaraunt ok. It has an 1980’s feel about it. Bit expensive for what it is.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Waitress was anazing, helpful and informstive on Monday evening when we were the only people in the restaurant. The male manager was terrible, made it obvious he wanted to go home and it was very awkward for my friend who eats slowly and she finished her meal in our room and it was 9pm. For this reason we didn’t have another meal in the restaurant although we enjoyed the food. On another occasion the same manager didn’t even acknowledge a guest at reception although the younger staff member was friendly, helpful and efficient.
- Beck (4/5): - Great location close to sports complex but rooms are old. Room needs to be refurbished. Bedding smelt bad! Toilet wouldn't flush more than once in an hour, had to fill the cistern with water using the rubbish bin!
- steve (6/5): - My wife and I stayed in same venue in 2016 same month & it was wonderful with solid bookings, reasonable prices & wonderful atmosphere. Fast forward 2 years there was hardly a room booked no patronidge in the bar or restaurant prices way above expectation & very little maintainence done. No I won't be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Friendly staff - I found the staff very friendly and helpful. I was there by myself for work and was unfamiliar with the area and the staff were very friendly helping me with shopping etc.
- George (4/5): Great location - Our book in with reception was pleasant.Arriving at our room we found many cigarette butts in the garden at the door. The room itself was very tired.Needing a revamp and a good detail. The bathroom was very grubby .Sink tap has lost most of its enamel (I think due to the kettle being to big for refilling). The water slow to drain in shower even with a few broken divides in drain. We removed a large amount of hair from this area.On day two one of the fresh towels was very dirty as if it had dragged in dirt. I am sure with a revamp and clean up it would benefit the total experience.
- Josephine (4/5): Below standard in cleanliness & comfort - Cobwebs, dirty teacups, random dark hairs on bathroom floor plus very uncomfortable lumpy mattress
- Tracy (8/5): Hotel - Lovely rooms in quiet location ideal for our stay for a dance comp, however we asked to borrow a couple of forks for our children in our room and was told only if your eating in the restuarant! Very petty and we had plans to have dessert and a few drinks there later but decided after this to head down the street for take away and also vettoed having breakfast there as well. Poor customer service and just disappointing .
- tmerc67 (6/5): Dated and over priced - $150 per night for a room which has not been updated since the 80's. Would normally expect to pay $90-$100 for similar.
- David (8/5): Lovely hotel, - Very good for single or family stays, rooms to suit, bars & restrauants are great as is the country atmosphere.
- I&V (8/5): Deserted! - Wotif suggested three rooms left. In fact only 3 rooms only put up! Place was deserted. It was quiet with no noise from others. Suited us well.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location - Great location to explore the Huon Valley and Bruny Island or even a quick trip into the CBD. Great eateries nearby at Kingston Beach and Blackman Bay. The lack of a small cook top in the kitchenette was particularly disappointing. Some of the inclusions (TV, iron, microwave) were just a bit too budget quality.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Smelly - The room smelt on arrival it seemed staff were aware of the matter as windows were left open. An air freshener was provided and we were advised that a reduction in tariff would be sort from management; needless to say there was none.
Stay was very unpleasant would not recommend or stay here again.
- guest (4/5): Dated and gloomy - but great staff - The staff were great and friendly however the room was overpriced - the bathroom was dated and the window would not close wich left is with a horrible loud whistling all night due to the wind coming through - the front door was also dodgy and banged with the wind .
- Verified traveler (6/5): - No meals available on Sundays after a long drive, no face washers.
- Dani (6/5): Rude hotel receptionist - The bloke who was at the reception desk, Shane, was not very welcoming or friendly. We were staying in a family room and after 1 shower, not long or hot, the room was out of hot water. Rung reception to let them know and was told that the shower that was had was too long and there was nothing wrong with the hot water system the night before. We were given a key for another room but not once did Shane apologise or was not sorry for the inconvenience, and it was all our fault.
- Verified traveler (10/5): somewhere to chill - very comfortable place. quiet place to base and look around
- Verified traveler (4/5): Good location with some views - Couldn't get breakfast until after 8 oclock in the morning , eggs not cooked as requested. Had dinner first night at the restaurant and was advised best to book as it was well patronized .we were first ones in and only ones for the first one and a half hour s that we were there. The medium rare steaks were cooked right through to the point of being tough . One hour wait for the meal to be served from time of order. Stayed 4 nights but ate out for duration.
- Andrew (10/5): Fantastic venue - Fantastic quite venue
- Lynette (6/5): Convenient and clean - While there was free WiFi in the room, the modem was broken and we were unable to use it.
The mattress was very firm but comfortable enough, however the pillows were too hard for my liking and comfort, and I did not sleep well the two nights we stayed.
The staff were helpful and as we were arriving late, phoned me to tell me the arrangements for finding and accessing our room.
- Carol (6/5): Close to Hobart highway - Reception staff nice and helpful
Room size good
Housekeeping lacking - heavy mould around base of shower and up walls. I used bleach and a cloth and removed a lot however it needs a brush to get it all out.
On arrival found a switch hanging out of its power point in the bathroom. While this was attended to quickly I cant understand why it wasn't dealt with before we arrived. This was a family room and children may have found it before an adult (WH&S)
While I have said I would not recommend this room to others some
attention to detail would change that
- Laura (8/5): Our last day in Tas - Our room was good the big bed wasn't comfy enough for my mum so I swapped n she slept on the bunk
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It is a very comfortable hotel, nice view nice room. I recommend this hotel to all people
- Family of 3 (6/5): Good hotel - Good location close to shops and 15-20min easy drive to Hobart. Spacious room and clean. Bathroom very tired and needs a reno. Mould in the shower recess. No wifi in room until they upgrade. Staff very helpful and friendly but food in the restaurant was average for the prices.
- Sa (8/5): Close to everything and clean - Hotel was clean, bed was comfy, and staff were friendly.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Pleasing stay - This hotel was booked based on the fact it had a kitchenette. The kitchenette was only tea/coffee making facilities which did not suit a family of four. The cleanliness was reasonable. There were some cobwebs in the main room and the shower cubicle could do with some Domestos. Other than that was a comfortable stay.
- AJ (6/5): Modern motel with some design failures - Curiously, this motel is located in suburban Kingston on a large hillside site with, potentially good views to the Derwent River but no other tourist attractions in the vicinity. However the siting of the restaurant and front 4-unit blocks obstructs the water views of most other rooms. For our unit the parking layout was strange, as we had to park at the rear of the unit ( no back door) and walk around the end of the building, in the dark, across grass to get to the front door. Alternatively take a longer hike on a concrete path around the opposite end of the building. If a rear window had been replaced by a door, the entry with luggage would have been much more convenient.
Inside, the room was small but clean and adequate, although the decor style was very plain and somewhat dated. We noted the absence of a microwave and electric blankets and the difficulty of filling a kettle from the bathroom sink. (We resorted to using the shower) Fortunately the heat pump was effective in cooling the room when the outside temperature was 36 degrees.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - On given the key we were told there is a great view from the room, being up the hill at the back. The view was of the back of three others rooms. No view of the water.
- Melinda (6/5): Comfortable and Peaceful - Very clean and comfortable with gorgeous views of the beach
Very relaxing - thank you
- colin (8/5): Good views - Nice hotel but our only concern was the cost of continental breakfast up to $ 40 dollars for basically cereal and some toast and juice. Apart from this would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was great! Clean, comfortable, well equipped. If next day you will go to Bruny Island, it will be a good choice!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Southern lights - The single bed was a fold up type and not very comfortable.
- Roger & Faye (8/5): It is now our place of choice in Kingston - This is our type of motel in a superb location
Well presented with a first class restaurant
- Verified traveler (8/5): Ok for one night - Hotel was 15mins from the city. we checked in late (after 9pom). Room was clean but bathroom had a few bugs. Curtain was missing on one of the windows so the moment the sun rose we were woken. Overall not bad for a one night stopover in Hobart.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Pleasant stay - Comfortable, clean, quiet and convenient and priced well
