Was such a stunning room with a beautiful view over the ocean. This unit was one on the upper floor-it was immaculately clean, modern and had everything we needed for a weekend away. Lovely little touches like toiletries and robes were a nice touch. Warm welcome on arrival from the owner-thank you for a great stay.

The room was exceptionally clean, comfortable and well kitted out. Had everything that we could need. The hosts were amazing and so welcoming. We will be back.

The rate per night however is excessive for what you pay and what you get. Early morning road noise is not how you want to be woken up in the early hours of the morning.

Can also just walk out of front onto lawn with table and chairs both on lawn and patio. Maybe a mile walk into town but easy going on beach path ( or on beach depending on tide)

Our room had the wow factor. It was meticulously clean and well presented with a lovely view of the beach. The room was quiet with plenty of USB charging points, great wifi, a smart TV, microwave, sink, fridge and stove top - all the necessities required for a wonderful stay. We loved the welcoming snacks. I highly recommend staying at Bailey’s At The Beach.

- Bustergirl (6/5): Mixed bag - We stayed at Baileys the nights of February 27 and 28, 2023, in an upstairs unit. Positives - -Large unit with a comfortable bed -Nice shower with good water pressure -Great view from the unit and patio of the ocean -Very clean Negatives -The owner’s unit on the lower level unfortunately was damaged in the cyclone on February 12. They are having extensive remodeling done as a result and our unit was quite noisy with hammering and drilling etc. This started about 8:00 am and lasted all day both days. We were not forewarned of this despite having emailed the motel prior to our visit for a status due to the cyclone. -Wi-Fi is slow, at best had two bars. -The motel is at a busy corner with lots of truck traffic during the day - it’s noisy when the patio door is open. It quiets down at night.

The beach out the front at low tide isn’t particularly good for walking because of the multitude of shells lining the sand. We did enjoy our stay…..Whitianga is a lovely small town with a village feel….nice cafes and shops. The only downside as far as we were concerned was that the bed was very hard…..though this is probably personal taste.

Very welcoming and helpful hosts, clean and tidy room with all we needed and just over the road from the beach. It is a very short walk into town. Activities were set up on the grass outside our sliding door so perfect for the kids. Highly recommend

- YoungAndHungry1 (10/5): Exactly what we expected - Perfection - I spent many hours looking for an accommodation option in the beautiful beachside town of Whitianga, some were cheap and old, some expensive and not sure why, then this place stood out on multiple levels! Price and value come hand in hand! *The bathrooms were immaculate and new which was delightful! *Kitchen had everything we needed and was again clean and new. * The view out the front door, even from the lower level room was stunning, plenty of ocean to see and the hills in the background were a treat. * Sky TV in the lounge which I wasn't expecting, but was perfect to watch sports and movies on. * Only a few minutes drive from the shops and literally across the road from the beach *The owner and host, Jo, had gone the extra mile for us after I had a few requests to help make our special trip up the coromandel that extra bit romantic and didn't hesitate to accommodate our needs. She is the definition of a quality motel owner!! I would highly recommend this accommodation option to any working professional, couple or even small family as it can accommodate for all travelers and their requirements. 5/5 from me, and know I will never need to search for accommodation ever again when traveling into whitianga. Well done and thank you to Jo and the team at Baileys at the Beach!

Views are great, location is a very quick 5 minute drive to the shops and restaurants, the room (we stayed in the upstairs studio) was comfortable and spacious, etc. A few reviews have commented negatively on the noise - we closed the heavy curtains at night and had a very quiet sleep.

It was very tired and needed up grading and it was right at the end of the beach not at the town end so we could not walk for a meal we had to use the car. The tables outside at the front were all turned over so could not use them it was a windy day so could understand why although they were wooden so don't think they would have blown away. When I entered the office I was greeted by a dog , I am not an animal person so was not a great start.

- KevinJNZ (2/5): Do not stay here if you want peace & quiet. It is the noisiest motel I have ever stayed at. - We stayed in room 202 - one of the three upstairs studio units. GOOD POINTS The room was excellent. The manager / owner Jo, was very friendly. Bathroom was very modern and well appointed. Excellent condition. The shower head was the best I have ever used. Good water flow. Kitchen was modern. New fridge / freezer. We didn't use the stove, but it too was modern. The kitchen tap was odd - in that it was turn right for hot water. All of the other taps were turn right for cold water. It was most peculiar. A good quiet ceiling fan worked well, as there was no air conditioning. Lounge double doors were double glazed. They opened to a private verandah overlooking the road, beach and bay. Superb views. Pleasant in morning and evening. Too hot in the middle of the day. REALLY BAD POINTS The motel is situated at a major intersection of state highway 25. It is also on the flight path to / from the local airport. During our three night weekend stay there was a continuous cacophony of noise from revving motorcycles, high performance cars and heavy vehicles and single engine planes throughout the day and night. It was a real assault on my hearing & concentration. Awful. It seemed that petrol heads used Buffalo beach as a race track up until 03:00 on Monday morning. It was utterly horrendous. The number of planes taking off and landing made it appear like a remake of the attack on Pearl Harbour. One time I had to sleep with ear plugs in to keep out the noise. The last night I took a sleeping pill to ensure that I had a good sleep prior to a long drive. On checkout I told the owner that I would never be staying in this place again. The inherent noise surrounding the place far outweighed the fact that it was a lovely motel unit.

- Sue (10/5): very welcoming after a long trip - awesome stay! - Lovely spacious motel units - where it is obvious that the extra mile has been taken with tasteful presentation - a view to die for - very comfortable warm bed with excellent pillows - luxury towels and all the mod-cons including dishwasher! I will definitely be going back again!!!

- Auntykat (10/5): Lovely clean small family run operation - We spent 2 nights here. The motel was clean and the owner very friendly and helpful. She gave us info about local sights and a spade for hot water beach. It can be a bit on the noisy side though. If you are sleeping on the sofa in the lounge there is quite a bit of traffic noise because it's situated on a main road along the beach and a side street. If you are sleeping in the rear room and not an early riser then you may be unfortunate to be disturbed by thoughtlessly loud guests departing. It is probably a bit far to walk into town so it is best suited to guests with a car. Overall a very nice spot for the $$.
