• Joanne (4/5): - Upon arrival, they handed us a key for a cabin that we found had been left midway through cleaning, taking us back to reception to find out what was going on. They apologized and handed us our correct cabin keys. This next cabin was ready to be stayed in (I.e. very clean)… except when we went to use the oven in the second evening it didn’t work. Both globes in the light above the oven also were out. They got the park fixit person to come and look the next day, who replaced one globe but they could not fix the oven. An external technician/plumber would need to be called in, which we didn’t want to give up time on our holiday to be there while they were onsite (and we didn’t trust them to be there with our stuff without us). The bathroom had two tiny hooks to drape towels on, which wouldn’t allow a towel to actually dry, and it was a family cabin for 4 people. We ended up hanging towels on hangers in different parts of the cabin. No towel rails seemed strange. The bathroom in general was very dated, and the three drawers in the bathroom vanity were all broken. The bunk beds in a hallway opposite the bathroom with two sliding doors at each end was weird. The doors had to be left open to allow heat through to them and the master bedroom from the one heater in the kitchen/living area. Just weird design. Despite the accommodation being very clean, it felt depressing to stay in it. In fact the whole feel of the caravan park felt very cold and transactional. We wouldn’t go back.

Because we were parked under Cypress trees the possums had a great time weeing all over our car which was the only real negative of our stay.

• Rosemary (8/5): A pleasant stay even in cold weather. - It's a large caravan park with some self- contained cabins- ours was very comfy. Lots of green grass, trees and spacious grounds, well kept with car parking just outside our cabin. It's right near the beach - the cold weather meant we didn't swim though. Our cabin was lined with wood, which was very soundproof. The air conditioning kept us warm and it was good to be able to make our breakfast in the small kitchen. We all enjoyed the included Netflix in the evening and when it was raining. The park is just across the road from a large and excellent playground for kids of all ages - which we enjoyed also.

• Verified traveler (8/5): - We rented Mariner's Cabin No 4. Unfortunately there was a big tree next to the cabin and the branches banged on the roof all night due to the wind which made sleeping difficult. Perhaps these could be trimmed so they didn't hit the roof.

• Verified traveler (8/5): - The property suited our requirements. We thought the cupboard in the kitchen smelt quite bad, sort of moldy as if crockery had been put away wet. We thought the hot water temperature in the kitchen may not have been adequate to properly clean the dishes.

• Jodie (8/5): Lovely Family Stay - Surfside is holiday park accommodation so different to hotels, and travellers need to keep in mind there is no servicing etc, but we loved it!! The cedar cabins are just lovely, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Perfect for families who like to self cater, there is a full size fridge and oven, and bbqs close by. The park itself is located in a pretty spot down from Flagstaff Hill, an easy walk to the beach, and a quick drive into town. A very relaxing seaside stay, we will definitely return.

It was all we needed for the night, but if we were staying for a few more nights we may have upgraded. The only issues was the bedroom door would not fully close and the bathroom fly screen was temperamental. Overall it was great. We paid $120 for one night during the school holidays.

The set up of the cabin gave the kids flexibility about where to sleep, however there was.no real storage capacity for luggage or food, and no privacy for adults. Suited us well for our overnight stay for 2 adults & 2 children, and was a good price for accommodation in 'high' season.

• Wendy (8/5): Nice area, nice little cabin. - Good for an overnight stay. Quiet area. Staff were very helpful with check in. Cabins are basic and a bit old, but cheap and good for a short stay. Would be bit crowded to have 3 or 4 people in for longer than a couple of days.
• colin (6/5): Inferior cabin. - We had a Mariner cabin with a double bed and 4 bunks which was too small even for 2 people. We stayed in cabins in other towns for the same dollars and got far superior cabins. The park and surrounds are fine.

• Steven (8/5): Ah, The Birds In The Morning! - This is a nice holiday park that is well maintained and a very short drive from all the local happenings. The cabin was clean, the sleep comfort excellent and the grounds were well maintained. The kitchen contained all the things you need for in-cabin meals, the amenities were ok, and the birds were wonderful to hear in the mornings. I would make certain that I bought my own toiletries and come with your own internet plan. Although free internet is advertised, in truth it is extremely limited and, in my view, should not be advertised as free. That said, I would stay again.

• Littleschills (10/5): Comfortable with direct beach access - What a delight to have the heater on for you when you arrive late on Friday night in winter! Cabin was clean, tidy and comfortable, beds were nice and firm with lots of extra blankets provided. Furniture looks like it's been recently upgraded and was in terrific condition. A great recommendation for families with children.

• Verified traveler (8/5): - Wonderful location with fantastic playground and park across the road. We stayed in a cottage for one night which was adequate but very basic so would recommend upgrading the cabin standard for longer stays.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - Great location, friendly staff and a nice cabin. One of the windows was broken and boarded up which was interesting with the storms and rain! But otherwise a great stay.
• maggz (10/5): Nice little cabin - We were in a great spot, close to the front of the park, which was ideally located less than 500m from a patrolled beach, the carnival & the massive park & playground precinct. Comfy beds in the cabin! Camp kitchen was brilliant! Huge! Perfect for a family stay. Our Mariners cabin was one of the cheaper "building" options
• Tracey (8/5): Great location - The Beach Chalet was in an awesome location and a perfect size for our family of four.On the downside the couch in the cabin was the most uncomfortable thing we have ever sat on.We ended up sitting outside most of the time as the timber benches were a better option.

• Helen (10/5): Nice place close to beautiful beach - Great caretakers, the first unit we were in the air conditioning was broken. Moved us straight away and helped us carry our belongings to the next unit. Very pleased with the service.
